Fairy Huntress

"Athena." Yang Xiao Long, the proud mother of a nine year old girl, said as she came into the lab that had been left to said girl, by the identical android of one Maize Merlot, and walked in on the young girl, with triple colored hair, cat ears and a cat tail, welding something together. "Athena Xiao Long. You're supposed to be recuperating."

"Marvell." Athena said, not looking up from her work.

"Excuse me?" Yang asked.

"Athena Marvell Xiao Long." Athena recited. "I didn't have a middle name, so I gave myself one, Mama even wrote it on my birth certificate."

"Mama did what now?" Blake, the panther Faunus questioned, coming into the lab.

"You wrote Marvell as Athena's middle name?" Yang asked.

"Oh, yeah I did. She wanted to honor Wendy for all the good she did, and thought Marvell as her middle name, would be good." Blake said. "You gave me a copy of all her documents via Scroll, remember?"

"Oh, right. I guess putting Marvell down as her middle name is a good way to honor Wendy's memory." Yang said before turning back to Athena. "What did you even do with Wendy's body?"

"I cremated it, put some of the ashes in a couple necklace sized urns, and turned the rest into a diamond with her name and face carved engraved in it." Athena explained. "I have one of the urns, and the other is for a friend who came to Earthland with her. I sent Tsuki off to find her, and give her the urn."

"Who was Wendy's friend you gave it to?" Yang asked.

"Cana Alberona." Athena said, as she stopped welding, before wincing in pain. "Laxus was kind enough to provide a detailed sketch of her, for Tsuki to memorize."

"See, you're pushing yourself too hard, you need to rest. You're not fully healed from being run through." Blake said, as she and Yang both came up to support their daughter.

"No, I have to complete this." Athena said getting up and wobbling a bit. "Stupid tail throwing off my center of balance."

"You're just gonna have to get used to it. What are you even working on?" Yang asked.

"A Vault door, leading to two separate Vaults." Athena stated, going to the control panel. "I found the specs for each of the Vaults in Merlots archives, and I had an epiphany. The Vaults themselves, are doorways to dimensions, completely out of the reach of normal mankind."

"Right, they had to have used the Staff of Creation to create them." Blake said.

"Right, sources of magical power from the relics, and the Deity Sisters. But what if I could make Vaults of my own, only accessible when all five Maidens put their hands on the door." Athena said.

"But, there are only four Maidens." Blake was confused.

"I thought you had been caught up on everything Mama?" Athena questioned.

"There are currently five Maidens this generation." Yang said. "Athena is the fifth, she's the skeleton key to the other Vaults, so she's a one of a kind Maiden, so her power won't be able to reincarnate like the four seasonal Maidens. But why make a Double Vault like the Relic Vaults, that will never be opened again?" The blonde brawler inquired looking to her daughter.

"Isn't it obvious?" Athena asked, looking to Yang. "The dimensions the Vaults lead to, will be Salem and Acnologia's prison cells."

"That… is actually genius." Blake said.

"Huh?" Yang was confused now.

"Think about it Yang. Salem and Acnologia are trying to take over the world, if they're forever trapped within the vaults that can only be accessed with all five Maiden powers, when there will only be four remaining, then they'll be trapped for all eternity, or at least until the Vault door breaks from weathering." Blake explained.

"That specific reason, is why the Vaults are underground, to not be affected by weathering." Athena said. "But there is a risk you haven't factored in."

"An' that would be?"

"I'm the current Spring Maiden. After Wendy undid the Dormant Soul spell, with the Maiden Powers leaving Raven, and weakening her, I inherited them when Wendy allowed her soul to finally rest. So, there could be a chance my, Dark Maiden powers, could be passed on, to the next Spring Maiden, when I die." Athena explained.

"Dark Maiden?" Blake repeated.

"It's what I am. I asked Jinn what kind of Maiden I am, and she told me my official title was, the Dark Maiden." Athena said.

"But, Ozpin said all the questions had been used up, years ago." Yang said.

"Ozpin says a lot of things that weren't true." Athena said. "But, I could ask Jinn as many questions as I wanted, so long as I fed her my Divine Champion power, A.K.A, my Goddess of Light and Darkness forms."

"So, with the two Maiden powers combined, there's a chance they'll get reincarnated together?" Blake inquired.

"Yes. But… an' this is something I've been dreading… there's also a chance, I might not die, at all." Athena said. "I could end up living forever, if I inherited more than just my Maiden Magic from Salem."

"We… didn't think of that." Yang said.

"But it doesn't matter, because with this, we can trap Acnologia and Salem for good, and stop them from their world conquest efforts." Athena smiled.

"The Vault door doesn't look all that big to me." Blake said. "I mean, it looks big enough for two people to fit through at once, but nothing more than that."

"I'm using Dragonslayer Produced Metal, so I wasn't to produce a lot to make the Vault doors as big as the Relic Vaults." Athena said.

"What are you using to power it?"

"The initial activation of it will be completed using an altered Arc Reactor I made. I took the blueprints Penny had detailed, and completed, and I tweaked it a bit, to make it compatible, with my Spring and Dark Maiden Magics. Thus, creating a self sustained source of magic energy." Athena explained. "After that, the triggers for opening the Vault, will be the same as the Relic Vaults, but with all five Maidens touch. Any less and the doors wont open."

"What are you doing now?" Yang inquired.

"I'm powering it up. Stand back." Athena said. "I've carved runes into the edges of the frame, the same runes that Wendy used to hide herself and me, from the public. So anybody actively searching for the door, won't be able to find it no matter how hard they look. This next part is gonna be kinda loud. Cover your ears, and shield your eyes. Once the vault has powered up, it'll get really bright in here."

"What's the massive amount of power for?" Blake asked.

"To create the two dimensional cells that will hold Acnologia and Salem for good. I'm also using the Relics of Knowledge and Choice to act as catalysts for the dimensions originating." Athena explained.

"How'd you get the Relic of Choice?" Yang asked.

"It was the circlet Pyrrha gave me before we headed off for our Mountain Glenn Mission with Dr. Oobleck." Athena explained. "Didn't you hear Cinder? She pointed out I was wearing the Relic of Choice, as it reacted to my Maiden Magic. Now put on your goggles and ear plugs, we're revving this up." She smiled.

An android came and offered Yang and Blake ear plugs and deeply tinted goggles, as Athena put her own on, while she put up the protective barrier. With all of them behind a protective barrier, and wearing their ear and eye protection, Athena began to steadily raise the power level, initiating the kick start to the Vaults dimensional activation.

"Levels are reaching fifty percent, and holding steady." Athena smiled.

"Is this really gonna work?" Blake asked.

"Who knows?" Yang inquired. "There are a couple factors she probably didn't think of."

"Like what?"

"One, Cinder is either still alive, and still the Fall Maiden, or she's dead and we have no clue as to where her replacement is. The other is kinda contradictive of itself; Athena's trying to make a gateway to two dimensional prisons, with only one point of entry leading to both at the same time. Either that works, or…"

"Or what mom?" Athena asked.

"Or the two opposing dimensions end up colliding with one another, creating something that could undo all your hard work and possibly even kill us, such as a wormhole." Yang said.

"An' how would you know this?" Blake asked.

Yang pointed to the door, and Athena followed where the finger led, before her eyes widened, when she saw the door beginning to suck itself in, and crumble apart as a black hole was forming in the center of the door.

"Not good." Athena said. "How could I not have noticed this was a possibility?"

"This is why you need to rest and recover. You don't think straight when you're overworked or injured like this." Yang said.

"Shut it down Athena." Blake cried out.

"I'm trying, it's absorbed too much energy from the Arc Reactor and has become self sustaining." Athena said as the entire lab became a lightning storm.

"There has to be a way we can stop it."

"There is one method but…"

"But what?" Blake asked. "What do we have to do to shut it down?"

"If I overload my magic powered arc reactor, and throw it into the wormhole, it could cause a feedback loop, and cause it to collapse in on itself." Athena explained. "But if I get even a single calculation wrong, I could end up destroying the forest above us, for miles around. But if I don't do anything, all of Remnant, the universe, could be destroyed and consumed by the black hole."

"It's a risk we're gonna have to take." Yang said.

Athena grabbed the magic powered Arc Reactor, making some tweaks to it, and supercharging it with her magic.

"Alright, I've added some Dragonslayer Magic to it as well. So let's hope this works." Athena said, as the Arc Reactor began to spark with lightning dancing around it. "Get ready, this is gonna be one big bang attack."

"Allow me." Yang said, taking the Arc Reactor.

Winding up, Yang put as much strength as she could into the throw, and sent it into the center of the black hole. Almost immediately, the Arc Reactor got caught in the center of the hole, and spun around, rapidly, as it began to glow. Just as the trio were about to leave, the doors opened, and in running, came Weiss and Ruby.

"What's going on in here?" Weiss questioned, shielding her eyes, before the sound of an explosive, charging up, caught their attention.

"Get down." Athena shouted, as it was too late to run.

But it was too late to go for cover, as the Arc Reactor exploded, enveloping the entire lab in a burst of white light. When the light died down, the lab was in ruins, panels from the walls and ceiling were falling to the ground, and wires were sparking with electricity from the destruction caused by the explosion.

However, there was one thing that was evident. Team RWBY were all gone, nowhere to be seen, not even the shadows of their bodies being hit by the explosions.

~Earthland~

The sun was shining bright in the sky, in the town of Magnolia, as a tall brunette man was walking along the forest path, humming a merry tune, happily on his way back to his home town, as he was traveling through the forest right outside of Magnolia.

"It's been a tough mission, but I got it done." Gildarts Clive said.

"Get your damned hands off me." Someone shouted.

"That sounded like a little girl." He said, before the ground shook momentarily.

Running in the direction, the voice came from, Gildarts didn't even move to avoid hitting trees, as he just went running through them. When he finally stopped, he was shocked. There in the middle of the clearing, was a Forest Vulcan, who looked rather beat up and bruised, while standing in front of it, was a young girl, with triple colored hair, cat ears, and a tail, and scales on her arms. From what he could see, she looked rather beat up herself, and was breathing heavily.

"Hey, little girl, are you okay?" Gildarts questioned.

"Ah." The girl cried out, turning around in shock at hearing his voice, and taking a battle stance. "Leave me alone." She said.

"Relax, I'm not here to hurt you. I just want to help." He said.

"My mother taught me never to just trust a stranger." Athena said, backing away from Gildarts.

"Your mother is a smart lady." Gildarts said. "It sounds like she really cares about… Watch out."

Athena quickly turned her head, to look over her shoulder, before she was hit with a backhand strike from a clenched fist, with part of the arm, covered in green fur. The strike sent Athena flying, heading straight for a tree, with a sharp broken branch.

"NO." Gildarts cried out. "Shatter." The magic of his spell, leapt from his hand, hitting the tree, and turning it into logs, mere seconds before Athena could be pierced by the branch. With the tree no longer in the way, Gildarts ran and caught Athena, before she could fly into anything else. "Hey, speak to me kid, are you okay?"

Athena was barely breathing, and it looked like there was blood seeping through her shirt, from both the front and back of her torso.

"Hang on kid. I'll end this quickly." Gildarts said, his eyes overshadowed as the Forest Vulcan came up from behind him. Before the Vulcan could strike however, Gildarts held up his hand, towards the beast, and hit it with a blast of his magic. "Die you insufferable, damned dirty ape." He growled.

~Sometime Later~

All was calm in the infirmary room, as the only sound to be heard, was from the ceiling fan, and the light breathing of the child, that had been put in the infirmary with her life being saved, with minutes to spare, thanks to the efforts of Gildarts Clive, and a few of his friends putting in the effort to heal her injuries.

Slowly, Athena began to open her eyes, wondering where she was.

"The last thing I remember…" She paused as her eyes widened and she sat up in the bed. "That monster and, ah…"

Athena bent over, clutching her side in pain as she felt like her side was all torn up.

"You should be more careful. We barely managed to stitch you up after Gildarts brought you here." Athena turned her head, to see a short man, holding a staff, with a weird symbol on it. "Hi there, nice to meet ya. My name is Master Makarov Dryer."

"Dryer? As in the Fairy Tail Guild Master?" Athena asked.

"Ho-ho! I see that you're familiar with Fairy Tail." Makarov said. "I'm not surprised, considering our emblem is carved into your back. But I do have to ask, how is it our emblem came to be on your back in such a way, in the first place?"

"You probably wouldn't believe me if I told you." Athena said. "What year is it?"

"It's the year 774 my dear." Makarov said. "But please, do try and explain to me, you may find I might just understand."

'So I've not only been transported to Earthland from that explosion, but I've also been sent back several decades into the past.' Athena thought. "Makarov sir, do you believe in Time Travel?"

"Now, this should be an interesting tale." Makarov said.

~One Explanation Later~

"I see." Makarov nodded. "My dear child, you've been through so much in your life, yet you've persevered and pushed through to never give up. I am sorry to hear about the hardships you've gone through, but fret not, as it is those trying times, that make us, who we are."

"I guess." Athena said.

"Tell you what. How about you come out to meet the man who saved your life?" Makarov said. "That is, if you're up for it."

"Right." Athena said, carefully getting out of bed.

Following Makarov out of the infirmary, Athena was careful to look around, finding that she was in what looked like the old Fairy Tail Guildhall Natsu had sketched out in his journal. Following Makarov to the bar counter, Athena stopped when she saw it was the man from earlier.

"Gildarts, there's someone who's here to say hello." Makarov smiled, hopping onto the bar counter.

Gildarts looked down from Makarov to Athena, his eyes widening when he saw her.

"Hey, you're finally up. I was so worried, it's been three days and you haven't moved, or even woken up in all that time." Gildarts said. "You doing okay now?"

"Uh, yes." Athena said.

"That's good to hear." Gildarts smiled. "Hop up, and I'll buy you some juice."

So Athena hopped up onto the bar stool, and accepted the drink Gildarts said he'd buy her. But she was surprised when some food was brought out, and put in front of her, by a fair skinned, woman dressed like an exotic dancer.

"Thank you Enno." Makarov said.

"No problem." She smiled.

"Gildarts?"

"Hmm? What's up kid." Gildarts questioned

"Listen… I wanted to say sorry. I misjudged you back in the forest and…"

"Hey, don't even sweat it." Gildarts smiled. "You were just using common sense and what your parents taught you. If anything, I'd say you were smart in following your instincts like that. It proves you've got a sensible and strong head on your shoulders."

"Thanks. But, I still wanna apologize for being rude when you were trying to help." Athena said.

"Water under the bridge." Gildarts chuckled. "By the way, where are your parents?"

"I don't know. I woke up in that forest, with no one around in sight, before that monster grabbed me." Athena said.

"Apparently, she and her parents got separated in an accident that transported them, to separate areas of the Kingdom." Makarov said, using an abridged and simplified version of the incident, Athena told him about.

"Well here's an idea, why not join Fairy Tail? You were strong enough to do some serious damage to that Vulcan, and that's impressive for a child." Gildarts said. "Plus, the adventures you go on, could help you with locating your parents."

"Mom, and Mama, I'll be able to find them." Athena said.

"What?" Gildarts asked.

"Gildarts, this child has, lesbian mothers, so you'll hear her referring to her parents a lot that way." Makarov said. "By the way child, we found this, on your person. What is it exactly?" He asked, holding up Athena's Scroll.

"Oh, that's my Scroll." Athena said, taking the device and opening it. "Um… is there anyone here, who can paint portraits?"

"Sure, but what are you wanting to get painted?" Gildarts asked.

"This." Athena said, holding up her Scroll, showing them a photo of her, Yang, and Blake, sometime after the fight at Haven Academy ended.

"Holy crap those are some major hooters on those two." Gildarts said, his eyes bugging out.

"Pervert." Athena said, closing her Scroll and holding it close.

"Total pervert." Enno said, bringing Athena some more food.

"I apologize. Here, let me get you another drink of juice as an apology. Those were your mothers and I should have more respect for them." Gildarts said.

"Fine." Athena said.

"So, are you gonna be joining the guild?" Makarov asked.

"Yeah, I think officially joining Fairy Tail might be fun." Athena smiled.

"Great, while you two work out the details, I'm gonna go take care of something." Gildarts said, leaving the bar counter, and putting some money on it. "There's enough jewel there for at least five more cups of juice. Help yourself, and keep the change if you don't spend it all."

"Appreciated." Athena said.

"By the way." Makarov said as Gildarts left. "I'll be sure to let you know when, he, appears. I'll just send him off."

"Don't do that." Athena said. "It wasn't Grey's fault he turned evil, and joined Salem's side. He was just taken advantage of by Salem, in a vulnerable state of mourning and grief, when his best friend died." She stated. "Even if it might be hard for me to do, I wanna try and get to know the Grey from before then, the proud Fairy Tail member who always stood up to protect his friends."

"My, how surprisingly mature of you to say that." Makarov smiled.

"Well, I am the founder of Remnant's Fairy Tail." She smiled cheekily. "By the way, is there somewhere I can spend my nights for a while until I can make my own home?"

"We have a storage room here with a cot you can use until you get on your feet." Makarov said. "It shouldn't be a problem, so long as you do some chores and help clean the place up a bit."

"Fair enough." Athena smiled.
