Saiyan of 3-E
"Hmm, the moon is all they're talking about in the states too." Koro-Sensei said, drinking a smoothie, and reading a Hawaiian Newspaper while relaxing in a lawn chair. "Does no one care about anything else?"
Over in the foliage to his left, were three students, Sugino, Nagisa, and of course the on who managed to land the first hit on him, Kali. She was supposed to be home resting after the little grenade incident the previous day, but she wasn't gonna skip class just because of a few scrapes.
"There he is." Sugino said. "Chillin' out back, before the first bell, not a care in the world. Reading a Hawaiian newspaper casually picked up, from Hawaii on the way here."
"Great job Nagisa." Kali smiled putting a hand on his shoulder. "Best of luck to your attempt Sugino."
"Ha. Ten Billion Big, here I come." Sugino said, holding up a baseball with Anti-Sensei BB's embedded into it. Winding up to pitch, Sugino hoped he'd be able to get Koro-Sensei with the silence of its throw.
"Top of the morning to ya." Koro-Sensei said, a fake Scottish accent in his voice as he stood behind the trio.
"Morning Koro-Sensei." Kali said, not even phased at this point.
"A baseball embedded with Government Issue Anti-Me BB's? Creative!" Koro-Sensei smiled. "Points for choosing a method of delivery quieter than the pop of a standard air rifle. Unfortunately, once air born, the weapon gave me nothing but time. Ample opportunity, in fact, to organize a defensive maneuver. A quick visit to the equipment room, and, ta-da! I had, pardon the pun, a handy solution." He said, holding up his left tentacle with a baseball mitt, and the weapon in the middle of it, right as the bell rang with green stripes on his face. "Tick-tock children. Graduation will be here, before you know it. Right, then. Homeroom if you would, please."
"I'm afraid I won't be able to stay for lessons today sir." Kali said, holding up a note to him. "I've been called by my parents lawyer to converse about what I'd do about the inheritance they left me."
"If you say so Ms. Karasuma." Koro-Sensei said. "Just try to be back to catch at least part of your lessons, or to pick up your homework."
"I can bring her homework to her. We're neighbors." Nagisa said.
~The Following Day~
"April, is the cruelest month, breeding lilacs out of the dead land…"
"Psst, Kali, Nagisa." Kaede whispered to the duo. "I heard Sugino's attempt yesterday didn't go so well."
"Afraid not. Koro-Sensei saw right through the attack, as usual." Kali sighed. "Seems like it's really bothering the poor guy though.
"What's there to get all bent out of shape about? I mean it's not like any of us could have done better." Kaede said. "Well, aside from you Kali, you were the one who made the first mark."
"She's got a point, you're like a predator." Nagisa said.
"Don't mess, with this lioness." Kali smiled, bringing her blade up as Koro-Sensei's tentacle shot past her, to a desk further back, taking off one of the two tentacle fingers, and then the other as it shot back to the front of the class.
"Sugaya." Koro-Sensei said, sounding all serious as the two tentacle fingers grew back. "Not a bad likeness I'll give you that, but I'm a little hurt by the jawline." He said, turning Sugaya's notebook around, showing the edits he made to the students sketch.
"You don't have a jaw." Hiroto said.
"An' Kali, full Assassination marks for striking when you did. You are on point again today." Koro-Sensei said.
A short while later, the bell rang, signifying the end of class.
"That's lunch people. If you'll excuse me, I have some important off-campus business to attend to." Koro-Sensei said.
"Tofu from China?" Isogai asked.
"Actually… I'm catching a ball game in The Big Apple. Ciao." Koro-Sensei said, before rushing out at Mach20 through the open window.
"He sure knows how to make an exit." Yoshida said.
"I know! That thing is starting to get on my nerves." Terasaka stated.
"Talk about unfair. We're stuck here, while he flies all over the world." Hinano whined. "He could at least bring back some souvenirs."
"Think about what he'd probably bring back. Are you really that hard-up for a mortar shell?" Kataoka asked.
"I'm just saying an exotic snack would be nice." Hinano said. "It's not like he has to sneak them through customs."
"You've obviously dedicated a lot of thought to this." Kataoka said, not knowing whether to be impressed, or worried.
"So hey, what's New York's chief export?" Isogai questioned.
"I dunno, booze?" Hiroto suggested.
"Sucks we're not drinking age."
"What about something greasy from one of those food trucks?" Hinano questioned.
"Sure, if you wanna have a heart attack and die before you hit twenty." Kali said, interrupting Okajima from saying something perverted. "Guys, don't look now, but the party pooper just arrived."
The students turned to the door to see Kali's uncle having come through the door.
"Oh, Mr. Karasuma." Isogai said.
"Children, any progress on killing the tentacled menace?" Karasuma asked.
"We've managed to figure out a couple of his weak points, but nothing solid to use to pin him down." Kali explained. "Plus, it's kinda hard to want to kill someone who actually considers your academic future and takes it to heart."
"This is E-Class yo. You gotta lower your expectations." Kirara said.
"All due respect sir. He's too quick." Isogai said.
"Like so quick you can't even see him sometimes." Mimura said.
"The only one in class who's actually been able to lay a scratch on him, is the amazonian warrior we have here." Kaede said, looking to Kali. "She was even fast enough to save Nagisa from the explosion of a makeshift explosive from a modified toy grenade. Even went as far as to use her body as a shield to try and protect the rest of us."
"If anyone has the highest chance of killing Koro-Sensei, it's your badass niece." Nakamura said.
"Speaking of, I need to have a word with Kali." Karasuma said. "Kali if you'll follow me, I'd like to speak with you in private."
"Whatever you say." Kali said, following Karasuma out of the classroom. Once they were alone, Karasuma turned to look at his niece. "What's up?"
"I just thought you should know, a date has been set for your parents funeral." Karasuma said.
"Thanks but no thanks." Kali sighed turning to leave. "I'm not going. Like I said in my text, I'm glad they're gone. See you at dinner, be sure to bring a dessert with you."
"Kali wait. Why do you hate your parents so much, that you won't even go to their funeral?"
"Why? Because I'm not actually their daughter." Kali said. "I was adopted, yes. But everyday, for as long as I can remember, they've treated me like nothing but garbage, forcing me to do things I didn't want to, just to make their lives easier. They didn't even treat me like an actual person. The only times when they did was when we had company over, when you came over to visit." She stated angrily as she turned around to look at Karasuma. "They only kept me around to be their little servant. So I'm glad they're gone, and I'm happy to be rid of their cruelty."
Karasuma was silent, as he looked at Kali and her tear stained cheeks, the unbridled anger in her expression so intense, even a blind man could see it.
"Kali…"
"You know what, just forget coming over for dinner tonight Uncle. We'll try again next weekend." Kali said, turning back around and marching off.
As lunch continued on, Kali was sitting on the roof, listening to her music. She'd moved all her Jeff Williams pieces to a completely separate playlist, so she didn't have to worry about accidentally triggering her berserker form. She was so lost in thought, she wasn't aware anyone else was on the roof with her, until a shadow blanketed the area over her. Looking up, she saw it was Koro-Sensei standing on the roof a bit of a ways from her.
"What are you doing on the roof young lady?" She heard him ask as she removed her ear buds.
"I needed to be alone for a while. My uncle stopped by, and we had another argument. Or rather, it was a one sided barrage of venting." Kali said.
"I see. But how did you get up here?" Koro-Sensei inquired.
"You're not the only one who can fly you know." Kali smiled, floating two feet off the air.
"Impressive."
"I'm not sure if it's a natural Saiyan ability, or if it's from the experiments I was put through, but ever since I escaped from the labs, I've been able to fly similarly to you." Kali stated.
"That is very interesting."
"Oh, and I figured out what my top speed is." She said. "You're able to travel at Mach20, right?"
"That's correct."
"Well, I did some testing, and so far, the fastest I've gotten is Mach10." Kali said. "Haven't been able to reach Mach11 yet."
"That's incredible." Koro-Sensei said. "Still though, I take it you canceled tonight's dinner with your uncle?"
"I needed some time to think." Kali sighed. "I take it you already spoke with Sugino about creating his own pitching style, separate from Arita's?"
"You bet." Koro-Sensei said proudly, moving to the side to avoid an Anti-Sensei BB Kali shot at him. "Nice try. But your shot was just a few milliseconds too slow."
"Can't blame me for trying." Kali smirked, while holding up the gun. "Though, I do prefer blades over bullets."
"I know you do." Koro-Sensei laughed.
"Oh and, did Nagisa happen to ask you to stop adding those silly problems on the back of our tests?" Kali asked.
"Oh come on, you too?" Koro-Sensei asked, sounding hurt. "I just wanted to give you all an extra challenge with those bonus questions."
"It feels more like a penalty." Kali said.
"Nagisa said the same thing." Koro-Sensei said, sounding disappointed.
"Maybe he should be the teacher?" Kali joked.
~2 Weeks Later~
"There he is." Meg said, as she and several others were hiding in the foliage.
"Hey. Do you think that ice really comes all the way from the friggin' North Pole?" Maehara asked.
"Why not?" Mimura asked. "He hits up every other place on the map."
"Focus. Think of the money we're gonna split." Isogai said.
"I'm telling you now, this plan of yours isn't gonna work." Kali said, leaning against a tree with a book and a soda.
"Why are you even here, if you're not gonna help?" Maehara questioned.
"To learn. Ones failures, are anothers lessons in success." Kali stated.
"Shows what you know. We'll bag that 10 Billion, no sweat." Mimura said.
"20." Kali said.
"What?"
"None of you were around when my uncle came by and announced it, but the reward money was doubled. Off him, and 20 Billion, with a tax free life, is the reward." Kali explained.
"Seriously? Then what are we waiting for? Let's do this." Isogai said, as they went running out.
"Koro-Sensei." They called out as a group.
"Hmm?" The assassination target questioned looking up.
"I hope you brought enough for all of us." Isogai said as they went running at him, with laughter.
'Their expressions are a bit too forced. He's gonna be able to sniff out their plan before they even strike.' Kali thought as she sipped from her soda, just as Koro-Sensei switched out their blades, for the tulips that had been in the flower bed, right outside their classroom window. "Oh hell no." Kali exclaimed, spotting the flowers.
"Uh, is something wrong Kali?" Koro-Sensei questioned.
"Those are the tulips from the flower bed outside the classroom." Kali stated. "We planted those ourselves right as the semester started, and have been waiting two months for them to bloom."
"You what?" Koro-Sensei questioned, sounding panicked.
"Why would you do something so mean?" Touka questioned.
"I'm so sorry. Let me make it up to you by… getting you some fresh bulbs." Koro-Sensei said, rushing at Mach20, reappearing with more tulip bulbs.
"It's gonna take a lot more than that to make up for the time we wasted, waiting for those flowers to bloom." Kali said. "You're gonna have to do something extra special to make up for this little stunt of your."
"Right of course. I promise I'll make up for it." Koro-Sensei said.
~Main Campus~
"The ministry of defense appreciates your cooperation." Karasuma said, addressing the Principal. "My being brought in, as the new P.E. Teacher of Class 3-E, is unorthodox, we realize. But, a necessary measure. I'll be there chiefly to observe, and to offer the students, tactical advice. My teaching certificate is still valid, so that's something."
"You have my blessing, sir. Just see to it, my student's education and safety come first." The Principal said.
"Thank you for your time, Principal." Karasuma said, turning to leave.
"One more thing." The Principal said. "When next you see her, tell that niece of yours, I'm pleased to see she's returned with a full recovery, and got over her ailment."
"I'll… be sure to do so." Karasuma said, before leaving. He didn't know what the Principal was talking about, but he had a feeling there was more going on to Kali's year long disappearance than he realized.
"I figured we'd meet with more resistance than that." The agent accompanying Karasuma said, as they made their way through the halls.
"Hmph. He's being compensated handsomely, for his trouble." Karasuma said. "All this seems rather convenient if you ask me. A creature with God-Like powers, untouchable, beyond the reach of the military, who wants to teach? Thankfully we've kept it a secret. The principal is involved, and the E-Class students. But as far as we can tell, no other civilians have a clue."
"Pardon my brashness sir, but…"
"Yes, what is it?" Karasuma asked.
"Are you alright? It wasn't that long ago when you discovered the remains of your brother and his wife." The agents said.
"I'm fine. My main concern regarding my family is with my niece. Something's not right, and it's something she's keeping to herself, but what could it be?" Karasuma questioned. "But I can't let personal problems distract me from what's needing to be done."
"I'm gonna die! This is the end of the world!" A student said, passing by them.
"For you! Stop screwing around, and get those grades up man!" Another said as two male students passed the agents. "Have you seen the satellite campus? It's a nightmare. No cafeteria. No food. Bathrooms look like something out of a horror movie. The kids are psychos, and the teachers fear for their lives. Once you're there, you're basically done. Colleges won't touch your transcripts with a ten-foot pole. Not to mention the Lioness has returned."
"Seriously? She's terrifying. Her last victim is still in the hospital and it's been over a year since she beat him to a bloody pulp." The first student said, as they cleared the area. "I'll do whatever it takes to keep myself out of E-Class, so long as I can avoid her."
"Time tested strategy. Single out a group as undesirable, and the rest will fall in line to avoid being one of them." Karasuma said. "Social engineering at its finest. Very effective. But they referred a student there as the Lioness. I wonder who that is."
~Later E-Class Campus~
"Strange. That student said the satellite campus was a wreck, but it looks so well taken care of, it could almost pass for brand new." Karasuma said.
"That's because it basically is."
Karasuma jumped to the side, before relaxing when he saw it was just Kali hanging from the branch of a tree.
"Kali, you startled me, and what do you mean when you said the building is brand new?"
"Mom and dad had an IOU from the school bored for anything they wanted, and when they died, I inherited it, along with their life insurance money." Kali said, flipping down from the branch, and landing gracefully on the ground. "So I called in that favor, and over the weekend while no one was here, not even Koro-Sensei, the building was demolished, and with the original blueprints, with some edits added to it, the E-Class building was rebuilt with modern technology, air conditioning, you name it, the place has it. It's even better than main campus buildings, and the Principal can't do a thing about it, or us using the building, because the School Board overrules his judgement. So unless he can find something to convince the School Board to give him the power, he can't kick us out, or demolish the building, unless he wishes to give me every last Yen he has. Not to mention, I legally own the building and the land its on as part of my request with the IOU."
"You managed to get a contract like from the School Board?" Karasuma asked, sounding impressed.
"Yep. The Principal is of course fine with this, since I wasn't able to do anything to make the trek up here any easier for the students, so he still considers this place, the boonies of the campus." Kali stated.
"I'm rather impressed Kali." Karasuma said as they went walking along the path to the school. "Quick question though, I overheard some students on the main campus, commenting on someone nicknamed, the Lioness. Is she a student I haven't met yet?"
"Good God, they're still using that nickname for me?" Kali groaned. "It was a name I was given when I tore into a bully last year for spreading shameful rumors about one of my classmates. My anger is what landed me in E-Class, and I was known as the Lioness from then on."
"I see." Karasuma said.
"So what brings you here Uncle?" Kali asked.
"Starting tomorrow, I'm gonna be the new Phys-Ed teacher. So you'll have the proper training for being able to handle the target." Karasuma said as Kaede came running out with spears made of bamboo and the Anti-Sensei knives. "Speaking of… where is your target."
"Apologizing. He plucked our tulips from the flower bed this morning, so he's decreased his speed, and is letting us take whacks at him." Kali said, pointing to the tree Koro-Sensei was hanging from as he was tied up in a rope from the waist. But he still looked like a blur.
"A few more minutes of this, and all is forgiven, right?" Koro-Sensei questioned.
"Aren't you gonna join in on the fun?" Karasuma questioned.
"I'm waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike." Kali smiled. "The second the branch snaps, is when I'll make my move."
"How do you know it's gonna snap?" Karasuma asked.
"He's made to travel freely at that speed. The tree however…" Kali paused with a smile.
"You're a very lucky class, I'll have you know. Not many teachers would put themselves through this position."
"As fun as this looks, it's not what the Ministry of Defense has in mind." Karasuma said.
"Shoot and stab at me all you want, class! Even with this handicap, I am still too fast for you. Only in your dreams, do you have any hope of getting the deed done-" Koro-Sensei said, before the branch snapped and he fell to the ground.
"The tree can't handle that kind of speed and pressure." Kali smirked, pulling out her Anti-Sensei blades, and charging at Koro-Sensei.
Swinging down at the flying yellow octopus, Kali's blades made contact with two more tentacles, but nothing more as Koro-Sensei had managed to slip away, and jump to the roof of the school building, before any lethal blows could be struck.
"Damn it, so close too." Kali tsked, snapping her fingers.
"Guess who's earned themselves extra homework." Koro-Sensei said.
"No fair." The class called out.
"So, is there more than just keeping an eye on Koro-Sensei, as to why you suggested the idea of becoming our Phys-Ed teacher?" Kali asked.
"I'll admit, I also came up with the idea to keep an eye on you. Each of us are the only family either of us have left, so can you blame me for wanting to keep an eye on my niece?" Karasuma asked, a light blush on his cheeks from embarrassment.
"Aw, look at you being a big softy Uncle." Kali giggled. "Don't worry, this will be our little secret. Anyways, I'll see you later tonight Uncle."
"Where are you going?" Karasuma questioned.
"I was called in to the Principal's office not too long ago. I only paused when I noticed you coming and wanted to give you a scare, but I really should be going now. Don't wanna keep the big bad of the school, waiting." Kali said walking off down the path.
~Later Kali's Apartment~
"Mmm, man it was such a busy day." Kali groaned, stretching out her back as she walked amongst the kitchen, stashing bottles of alcohol away. "Better hide these before Uncle Karasuma comes by."
Kali's home attire was completely different from her school attire. For one she wore a spaghetti strap tank top/crop top, with daisy duke jeans, and her hair tied back. Currently, she had an apron on over her clothes as she was cooking dinner for her and her uncle.
*Ding-Dong-Dong-Ding*
"Hmm? He's early." Kali said.
She didn't like that he was early, and kept her guard up, reaching for the blade in the back loop of her daisy dukes, before calmly walking to the door, before she relaxes when she felt a familiar, calming energy outside the door, but noticed it seemed off a bit.
"Nagisa?" Kali asked opening the door to find the blue haired teen standing there. She noticed the teen looked a little down trodden, and had an overnight bag with him. "What's going on are you okay?"
"Hey Kali, I know this is a little sudden, and last minute, but… could I spend the night here?" Nagisa asked. "I kinda got into another argument with my mom."
"Sure, come on in." Kali said, stepping out of the way for Nagisa to come in. "You want something to drink? Tell me what's on your mind."
"Thanks. An' I'm fine with anything you have." Nagisa smiled, walking past the kitchen, only to pause. "Wait, you have booze?"
"Yep." Kali chuckled, going to her fridge and pulling out a couple sodas. "Perks of having my body type, I don't get carded. The store clerks think I'm legal drinking age."
"I see…" Nagisa said accepting the soda.
"Just an FYI, my Uncle is gonna be coming here in a bit for dinner, so don't be surprised when he shows up." Kali said, as she went back to hiding the booze. "An' don't tell him about the booze either. He'd kill me if he found out I was drinking already."
"Right…" Nagisa sighed.
"So, what is the deal between you and your mom?" Kali asked. "I've noticed some nights where your mom sounds like a total berserk rage monster."
"That's just one of her moods." Nagisa exclaimed. "She gets like that any time I try to express any desires I want that don't align with hers. She's a total helicopter parent, and not in the good way. That's why my dad left us."
"I see." Kali said. "At least you have one parent who wants to take your dreams into consideration, and not try to force you to be something you're not. So how bad is your mom really?"
"Don't even get me started." Nagisa sighed. "She dresses me up like a girl, because she wanted a daughter instead of a son. She's already planned out which high school I should be going to, which college I'll be going to, and which company I'll be working for. Spoiler, the school she's sending me to, was one she wasn't accepted to, same with the college, and the company she wants me to work at, didn't hire her."
"So she's forcing her dreams on you." Kali said understanding what Nagisa was saying. "I get it. She's worse than a helicopter parent. Someone should really teach her a lesson in child rearing."
"Mainly her behavior comes from both an inferiority and control complex she has." Nagisa said. "I think my grandparents might have conditioned her that way."
"That would explain it. No one's just born evil or controlling." Kali sighed. "She's forcing her dreams on you, because she feels like she failed her parents, and to atone for it, would be for you to accomplish what she didn't."
"But my mom doesn't have to be such an annoying, controlling bitch about it." Nagisa said.
"Well enough chatting about this, go wash up. My Uncle will be here any minute." Kali said, as she continued cooking.
"What are you making?" Nagisa questioned, noticing she was using a counter top grill.
"An America spin off of Sushi. Bacon Grilled Sushi. Ingredients include bacon, ground beef, fried onion bits, ham, jalapeno, cheese sticks, barbecue sauce, and spice rub, with some fresh veggies on the side." Kali said. "It's a recipe I thought my uncle would like. He's been to America a couple times, and thought it'd do something to make him feel a bit nostalgic."
"Sounds interesting." Nagisa smiled.
*Ding-Dong-Dong-Ding*
"Oh, that must be him, right on time." Kali smiled. "I'll answer the door while you wash up."
"Right."
Heading for the door, Kali smiled when she opened it, and saw her uncle standing there, with a gift in his hands.
"Hey come on in." Kali smiled.
"I hope you don't mind, but I took the liberty of bringing some drinks." Karasuma said, before noticing the extra shoes at the door. "Did you invite someone else over?"
"Not exactly." Kali said. "Nagisa and his mom don't get along so great, so I invited him to come over whenever he needs a break from her. Tonight just happened to be one of those nights. He'll be joining us for dinner."
"How thoughtful of you." Karasuma smiled.
"Hi Mr. Karasuma." Nagisa said, greeting him.
"Hey there Nagisa… sniff… is that burnt bacon I smell?" Karasuma asked.
"Oh crap, my cooking." Kali cried out, rushing back into the kitchen.
"So, what does she have planned for dinner?" Karasuma asked, sitting at the table with Nagisa, neither of them touching the veggies already on the table.
"Something she thinks you'll enjoy immensely." Nagisa smiled.
"Good news, I managed to save the food in time." Kali smiled, coming into the dinning room, with a plate of what looked like beef sushi with ham and bacon, and cheese oozing out of the center of the wrap, and a barbecue sauce glaze topped with crispy onion bits, and a bowl of crispy seasoned cheesy potato wedges. "I hope you're both hungry, because I made enough to feed an army." She said cheerfully.
