Hell had broken loose in Paris as an army of Latombe clones started terrorizing everything. The heroes had to spread out to stop the rampage.
A group of Latombes had launched an attack on the Bureau's convoy. One Latombe each went for one of the heroes, the first launching himself at Chat Noir. "Invoke Copycat!" he pressed the core on his chest, and a baton formed in his hand not unlike Chat's. He rushed in and the two clashed their staffs.
"Seriously? You copy an Akuma whom was a cheap knock-off? I have beaten Chat Blanc. What do you think you have that they didn't have?" Chat Noir said as they kept exchanging blows.
"Experience!" the Latombe said as he pushed Chat back, tried to use an overhead swipe which our hero dodge easily, but Latombe vaulted using his polearm to launch a flying kick, which did hit Chat in the stomach. However, Chat grabbed his ankle and threw Latombe across the street.
"Experience? You were stuck in jail for a decade or so!" Chat Noir pointed out.
"I didn't just spend that time in my cell watching tv, I kept working out." Latombe said as he charged in again, swiping with his baton, which Chat blocked.
Chat held up his staff with one hand to hold off Latombe, but also used his other hand to remove a part of his staff to split it in two and smack Latombe in the face with his free hand. "Who could have sparred against in solitary confinement? Air molecules?" Chat quipped as he new held his twin staffs escrima style.
"Obviously I got back into shape after breaking out. I am both brains and brawn…" Latombe also tried to split his staff, but found that to not be possible. "Oh, Copycat couldn't do that, right? Oh well. Invoke Chat Blanc!" Latombe pushed the button on his chest again and he crackled with white energy. He aimed his hand at Chat Noir. "I'm going to reduce you to ashes."
"Just try! The other me couldn't do me in!" Chat Noir noted.
"Maybe not in one on one…" Latombe said as he turned around to see a group of soldiers confront one of his doppelgangers. "But there is more then one way to skin a cat!" he aimed his cataclysm-filled hand at the soldiers and prepared to fire.
"NO!" Chat Noir reacted immediately. He grabbed his tail belt, pulled it off and shit it forward, grabbing Latombe's hand and pulling it to the sky where it explodes harmlessly.
Latombe used this as a means to pull Chat forward by his belt, the punch him in the face, grab him by the neck and smack him down into the ground. "I admit you kids are pretty powerful, but so easily distracted…especially when it comes to the civilians. Or like I like to call them, cattle!" Latombe aimed his hand again to fire another Cataclysm, but he found himself blinded as Chat had taken the scarf of his suit and wrapped it around his face. Latombe then decides to aim in the direction he felt the tug, only to find his hand kicked hard and his shot being flung harmlessly in the air again. "What the…" the scarf was pulled from his eyes and the first thing he saw was a boot to the face.
He was flung to the ground. He shook his head as he got up. He saw Nathalie Sancoeur next to Chat Noir. "Thanks for the help Nat-Mademoiselle Sancoeur. But I advise you to be careful, as you don't have the same invulnerability me and my teammates do."
"I wasn't going to sit down and let this blowhard do any damage." Nathalie said. "Though a bit of advice…Don't hold back against. I know you try to protect us, but we also protect each other and the civilians. Focus on defeating him, we can prevent the collateral."
Chat smirked. "Can do!" Chat said as he grabbed his belt and his escrima sticks, put them together and turned them into improvised nun-chucks. He swung them around for a bit.
Latombe charged up another Cataclysm and aimed it at Chat, whom threw his chucks, the belt magically stretching so that the Nun-Chats (Chat trademarked it) him in the forehead. Latombe stumbled as Chat Slammed into him and Latombe's crackling hand in his own face. Latombe started sweating. "Invoke Troublemaker!" he said as the Cataclysm died down and he turned transparent.
Chat was shocked as the transparent Latombe phased through him, stood up, a clicking sound was heard as Latombe became physical and kicked Chat and knocked him down. "What…we never fought an Akuma called 'Troublemaker'."
"In this universe you didn't. But in another universe…" Latombe said as he pointed at his power core. "I am powered by an Anomaly. I can draw upon Akuma powers from the multiverse. So I have unlimited possibilities to draw from!"
Chat moved in. Another clicking sound and Latombe turned transparent and allowed Chat's blow to go right through him. Latombe clicked it again and punched Chat as he stumbled and his next hit missed. Chat recovered and struck again, but another click and Latombe was transparent again. Chat was ready this time and instead of taking the hit immediately jumped back. He was now able to see the clicking that initiated the phase shifting was a pen that Latombe held. Kind of random but ok.
Chat then decided to continue the song and dance for a bit, lashing as Latombe made himself transparent, jumping back or blocking when Latombe made himself physical again, before it repeated a few times. Chat waited for the right moment as he charged forwards. Latombe clicked the pen again, just as Chat swiped with his clawed hand. At just the right moment…as Latombe went transparent, only for the mad scientist to find his hand to be a bit lighter. He looked at it and saw he no longer held the pen. He looked around and saw the transparent pen on the floor, before it sank into it. "NO!" he tried to grab the pen but too late. "Damnit! Oh well, at least you cannot touch me!"
"But you can't touch me either; You needed to click ever time you wanted to land a blow on me." Chat pointed out. "So at least in this form you are completely harmless."
"I'll just invoke another power. Invoke Robustus!" Latombe said as he pushed the button on his chest…But nothing happened. "Invoke Robustus? Startrain? Mr. Pigeon? Anything?" He kept pushing the button but it didn't change anything.
"You copy an Akuma's power, but you seemingly also copy some weaknesses. The Akumatized object of the Akuma you copied must have been the pen, so the transformation is tied to it. So to change back, you have to keep hold of the pen, but it sank into the Earth."
Latombe looked mad and gritted his teeth. "It doesn't matter, there will be more of me whom can finish the job…" However, he then found Chat was a whole feet taller. "What the…" he looked down and found himself sinking into the ground, his transparent body was phasing through the floor. "No wait, I thought the akuma power allowed me to still walk normally. Help me, you are the hero, help me!" the Latombe said panicky as he sank through the ground and vanished.
Granted Chat did try to grab his hand, but since the Latombe was transparent he went right through it. The Latombe was gone. "Plagg, what just happened?"
Plagg responded in Chat's mind, courtesy of the new bond they had after the upgrade. "As far as I can tell, Latombe didn't emulate the Akuma power as well as it should have so disturbances like being separated from the akumatized object he copied may end up having his powers backfire on him."
"He is sinking through the Earth…will he stop at one point?" Chat asked mentally.
"Most likely he will. Once he hit the Earth's core and is vaporized or when the pen sinks into the core first, trapping that Latombe in the Earth's crust and killing him." Plagg said. The way Plagg's voice sounded was a bit eerie as there was no remorse, and Plagg talked about it like it was a very boring tv program. "Don't feel bad, it was most likely a clone. The real Latombe wouldn't risk his neck like that. And even then, that clone was as bad as him, a monster to be put down."
"Still a cruel way to go." Chat noted.
"Its his own fault for being a psycho douchebag. And playing with forces he thinks he understands but clearly doesn't according what we've seen. Now get a move on kid, there are many more doppelgangers causing trouble." Plagg reminded him. Chat just accepted it and moved on to the next Latombe butt to kick. He can have moral crisis later. But he better passes on what he learned to everyone else.

The Bureau weren't magically enhanced, but they were trained personal with weapons, whom dealt with magical threats that the Miraculous team may have missed. So they are not just mooks that the Latombes could curb stomp. The current Latombe did knock a few of them down, but a few other soldiers opened fire with their guns. While the bullets didn't pierce, they did make him flinch and stumble back. He growled and charged at them and tackled a few of them down. However, they got up and grabbed and dogpiled onto Latombe. Holding him in a variety of holds, while slamming their firsts in parts of his body, trying to find a weak spot. The Latombe roared in anger and threw them all off.
The Latombe then stumbled towards one of the swat trucks. He then found something wrapped around his wrists. The Agents had some sort of firearm that had shot out a wire to wrap him up. He pulled violently. "Activate tasers!" one of the agents said as Latombe felt himself getting shocked painfully. His enhanced durability protected him but he hadn't expected for these guys to wield weapons that harmed him. "Invoke Stormy weather!" he said. The electricity no longer hurt him. Latombe smiled and flicked his wrists, reversing the power flow and shocking the agents holding the wire guns.
They were knocked onto the ground. A few agents tended to their wounds as the others still standing pulled out different weapons. Latombe just turned around and muttered. "Invoke Stoneheart!" Pressing the button on his chest, just as they unloaded their arsenal, but the bullets and explosive rounds only annoyed him and made him grow.
"Stop fire!" one of the agents said as he realized what was going on. Latombe has grown a few feet in heights. Not giant but dwarfing the tallest humans still. Latombe stomped his foot down, creating a shockwave that headed in their directions and knocked them down.
The Latombe smirked and turned to the truck. He would rip them open one by one to get to the cargo. He tugged at one of the doors and pulled it open. But as soon as he did that, he was sent flying as he was hit by something. Latombe shook his head as he saw something move out of the back of the truck. It was not the Kwami Hunter. It was a smaller weaponized vehicle. A smoking railgun, the thing that has hit him, was still aimed at him. Several other weapons adorned this vehicle, and inside was Allegra. "Hello Gus!" she greeted.
"Ally, long time no see. How's the back…Oh wait, I broke it years ago." Latombe picked himself up. "So, is this what you have been up to all this time? I thought you'd be brooding, stuck indoors and offed yourself in despair or something."
"Oh please. While it was hard at first, I always get back up when knocked down…matter of speaking. If you think I would ever let something like a loss of use of my legs drag me down, you never knew me as well as you thought you did. But seeing how far your head is up your own ass, I doubt you really knew any of us well at all." Allegra said, looking at her nails, looking bored.
"I know how to crush your little toy with you in it, I'll not just be breaking your back, I'll be breaking everything!" The large Latombe rushed at Allegra. As he was close enough to swing his giant fist, something caught it. A mechanical arm had come from the vehicle and caught the punch. Another mechanical arm then popped from the other side and punched Latombe in the face.
Latombe stumbled back as the vehicle started to shift in front of him. It became a humanoid mech suit. Allegra cracked her knuckles as the mechanical arms copied the movement. Latombe blinked. "Ok, I admit…that is pretty awesome. But it still is no match for me!" Latombe rushed in and started to pound away at the mech.
Allegra held up the mechanical arms to block the blows from Latombe. She aimed the weapons and unleashed the barrage upon Latombe, whom was thrown back. However, Latombe grew a few feet in size again. He chuckled. "Your toys are impressive, but with the power of Stoneheart, I'll grow ever time you strike me down." He rushed at her again. He threw a punch, but the mech arm, though straining a bit, caught this punch and twisted the arm around Latombe's back. An odd cracking sound was heard. However Allegra didn't linger as Latombe threw her over his shoulder. He then lifted his foot and stomped down on her mech suit.
Allegra knew her mech suit could take a few blows, but if Latombe kept it on too long, he'd live up to his threat and crush her like an empty soda can. She pushed a button and one of the weapons aimed at Latombe's face and fired. Latombe roared in pain as he held his face in pain. A black liquid trailed down his face as he held his left eye, which she had managed to shoot out. However, Latombe grew a few more inches in size even when he was nursing his wound. Allegra found the black liquid odd, it wasn't blood. The scans showed that it was…slag? A byproduct of mining. Odd…
She didn't have time to contemplate as Latombe got up and raised his arm again to pound upon her. However, she strafed to the side to avoid. She noticed that Latombe was getting heavier and…was his skin turning grayer. She then got a notification. It was through the special communication channel of the Miraculous, of which she also had the frequency, and Chat Noir was sharing what happened to his Latombe. So the akuma powers he copies backfired? Interesting. Allegra smirked as a plan formed in her head. "You took my ability to walk, I took your ability to see out of one eye. But I don't think that trade-off is very fair."
"You think you will get another lucky shot off?" Latombe said. The last Black Cat I faced got one lucky shot off too…" he motioned at the remnants of his scar. "But he wasn't able to protect you."
"In the end it was worth it as you were put away in a box, to be forgotten, because you didn't deserve to have anyone's attention. Your ego was always so ridiculously fragile!" Allegra mocked.
"I am way too brilliant to be suffering from a big ego!" Latombe said as he charged and lashed at her, but Allegra's mech suit was too fast. She unleashed a barrage of missiles, which hit the Latombe, whom grew in size again His skin went from gray to a dark almost black gray, very rock-like. He also bulked up, becoming much more of a lumbering figure. He raised his arm again but he was moving so slow, he couldn't hit Allegra at all.
"You are getting old, Latombe. You didn't age well in jail, you know the place you were put away in to be forgotten?" Allegra taunted. Oh she missed the banter, it has been too long she got to be the Fox wielder Melodie.
"I'll make sure that you won't forget me in death…when your last thought is me…caving your face in!" Latombe lumbered and tried to grab at the mech, but to no avail. The mech jumped up and delivered a powerful kick, making him grow and grow rockier again. "Stand…still! Why am…I…slowing down?"
"Of course you are slow, you are a pile of rocks, and just as dull as one." Allegra said.
"Must…invoke…" the rocky Latombe tried to bring his hand to his chest to bush the button again. But he took too long. Allegra's mech sported a blade on its arm, buried it in the rocky hand. Latombe screeched out as Allegra twisted the blade, shattering the rock hand. More black slaggy mess flowed out of the wound.
"Invoke this, bitch!" Allegra said as her mech jumped onto his chest. The arms shifted into something resembling pistons and planted itself in the chest. "Activate jackhammers!" The piston-like arms vibrated heavily and to the Latombe it felt like a pair of jackhammers being slammed into his chest. He roared in pain as cracks started to spread across his body. "Go to hell, you insane bastard!" She amped up the juice and now the vibrations increased, the cracks started to spread further, before the Latombe shattered in a thousand rocky pieces.
Allegra landed the mech gracefully. She panted as she saw one of the rocky pieces of the shattered Latombe clone roll at the feet of her mech. It was part of his face. Allegra made a disgusted face as she had the mech step on it, crushing it further. "We'll be coming for the real you soon enough." She growled.

Nathalie meant it when she said the Bureau would take care of the rest. One of the Latombes was targeting civilians whom hadn't gotten out of the way in time. This Latombe was sliding on a platform of ice and was aiming cold blasts at some running people. Nathalie and a few others jumped and pulled out something that expanded in a huge shield that took the freeze blasts. It shattered the shields but it allowed the civilians to get away.
"Flamethrowers!" One agent called out, and a group of agents pulled out a gun that shot streams of flames at the Frozer-Powered Latombe. Latombe was clearlyhurt by the flames, and turned the ice powers off and dove out of reach of the flames.
"Invoke Silencer…Die!" Latombe pushed the button on his chest, and his last word was projected like a Sonic shout that threw the agents through the air. Latombe chuckled silently. He went towards one of the trucks to raid it.
Nathalie jumped him. She immediately began by landing in front of him and kick him hard in the family jewels. Latombe stumbled back. Now, he was lucky that he had his akuma strength otherwise he would have been incapacitated. He sneered at how this normal woman tried to defy him. He charged at her, but she easily sidestepped him and then delivered a nerve blow to his arm. It didn't fully paralyze him but his arm felt tingly and could move it slower. He tried to strike a few blows, but with a martial arts routine the best kung fu movies only dreamed about, she was able to counter the blows and she struck back with a few kicks and blows, pushing him back.
'Whoa, she's good.' Latombe thought. But while she was skilled, she didn't have the force or oomph to hurt him enough to keep him down. So he should be able to wipe her out easily. He got a lucky shot in and managed to grab her by the throat. He inhaled, intending to blow her head off with a point blank sonic attack…if only Nathalie, with impressive agility, retracted her legs, kicked off the ground, wrapped her legs around his throat, choking him up. As Latombe tried to get some sound or breath out, she pushed his mouth shut with her knee, making him bite his tongue.
Latombe roared out in pain as he held his mouth as blood came out. He coughed for a bit as he growled. He pushed the button on his chest again. He smirked as he made a gesture, like he was pulling back an invisible arrow in an invisible bow. Nathalie's eyes widened as she remembered Mime and jumped out of the way in time as the swat truck behind her got some dents in it, like an invisible projectile was flung into it. Nathalie was on her toes, ready to dodge at a moment's notice. However Latombe mimed something that she didn't immediately recognize but when his hand shot forward, she was ready to jump aside…only to have the sensation of something wrapping around her and limiting her movements. She stumbled to the ground, like she was bound from head to toe in ropes. Damn, the Mime Latombe had mimed a Lasso.
Lasso moved in closer, pretending to roll up an invisible rope. He then raised his foot, ready to cave her skull in. That was until something long and metallic shot out of nowhere and hit Latombe in between the eyes, making him stumble back, making him let go of his 'invisible rope' and allowing Nathalie break free. "Just returning the favor here!" the voice of Chat Noir sounded.
Nathalie smiled back as she saw the boy she loved as a son come to her aid. That wasn't all as Allegra in her mech suit came in as well. "Good job at holding the fort, Sancoeur." Allegra noted.
"That thing is really awesome!" Chat Noir noted. "You know how often we get to use a mech through Lucky Charm? Can count it on one hand."
"I wanted to play safe. And granted I didn't expect an army of Latombe clones, but packing the mech proved to be a good idea. And yes, admittingly, it is really awesome." Allegra explained.
The Mime Latombe's face curled into a sneer as he snapped his fingers and he summoned a Moth Swarm. The footsoldiers chirped and purred evilly. "Not these guys again." Nathalie muttered.
"Well, it is not getting easier, and I hoped to not have to use this…But the mech is not the only thing I packed. Allegra pulled something out and tossed it at Nathalie.
Nathalie saw it was a sort of brace that was to be worn around her wrist. "What is this?"
"Something that should give you a bit more oomph. To even the fight." Allegra noted.
"Should you be trusting me of all people with it?" Nathalie asked.
"We don't have the discussion about questioning your morality again. Besides there are safeties built in, in case it fell in wrong hands, and you are still also wearing the restrainer brace." Allegra added.
"All right then." Nathalie said. "So how does this work?"
"Code is three-three-five!" Allegra explained.
Nathalie shrugged and dialed in the code. The brace glowed and holographic shapes started to form over her body which started to solidify. She became engulfed in a royal blue full body-armor, which much like the Miraculous armor of Chat after his upgrade (but it was clearly not magical) looked both tough and sleek. She had a helmet with a visor, but it were the details that stuck out. It had accents of magenta and gold, and she had some armored skirt that was bladed and looked feather-shaped. "Did you really put me into peacock armor?" Nathalie blurted out.
"This suit was being worked on for the better part of five years…though I admit the peacock aesthetic was a recent addition." Allegra noted. "It is actually based on the armored suits of Agent Blue, Agent Yellow and Agent Red of the retired United Heroez."
"So, does that make her Agent Peacock?" Chat asked with a smirk.
"That is actually a pretty neat name." Nathalie admitted. She looked at Latombe whom now looked positively furious. "And why do you think he looks like I killed his puppy or something?"
"I think he is furious because he thought no one else but him would have been smart enough to create an advanced power armor like him. Don't mind him, typical ego-tripper." Allegra noted.
"So…you want to settle things with Latombe while we take care of the Drones, or you take the drones and let one of us handle it?" Chat asked.
"You grab the moths…I'll crush a cockroach!" Nathalie, now Agent Peacock, said as she grabbed a few of the feather-like blades of the skirt and rushed forward at Latombe.
"You know, between the mech suit and the obvious Japanese superhero inspiration of the suit, I think you may be a nerd." Chat noted towards Allegra.
"You have no room to talk, you are an anime nerd incarnate." Allegra noted.
"You better believe it." Chat said, clearly proud at the statement.
Agent Peacock rushed at Latombe whom mimed a sword, but Agent Peacock blocked the invisible blade with her and lashed with speed and ferocity that pushed Latombe back, whom clearly didn't expect the huge boost in speed and strength. "You know that I nearly took down Hawkmoth?" Agent Peacock said as her blades clashed the mimed blade. "Only a magical backlash from a broken Miraculous made sure I didn't end it right then and there."
Latombe looked uneasy. Instead of miming the sword he shifted to miming bow and arrow again. While the projectiles were invincible…the helmet did come with a display. It didn't exactly make the arrows visible, but she saw distortions in the air and sliced up the invisible arrows with her blades. She then grabbed a few shorter feather blades, daggers to be exact, from the armored skirt. Latombe mimed a barrier, but when Agent Peacock threw them, there was a sound of some invisible glass shattering and one blade being buried in his shoulder, the other in the center of his chest. "I nearly fell down a dark abyss, but while you rotted at the bottom I clawed my way out of it!"
Agent Peacock closed the distance as Latombe quickly mimed invisible weapons to block the clash of her blades, but it was clear he was struggling. Her blows were swift and precise, and one opening later she slashed at Latombe's wrist. He grabbed it in pain as his mimed weapons vanished. She then delivered a blow with the pommel of the sword to slam the dagger deeper in his shoulder, a kick in the back of his knees to shatter it, before grabbing him by the collar, and headbutting him hard. Her helmet was intact, but Latombe's shattered, showing his pale face
and shaven head. "And just like Hawkmoth, he had nothing in the end, while I found something for myself."
Latombe fell on his back and fearfully tries to crawl away. Agent Peacock held her blades to his throat, crossed in a scissor motion. "You may claim to be smarter then him, better then him, but for you it will end the same. Or at least the real you. I hope that he can hear what I'm telling you now, so that he will fear for his life. Because I'll happily volunteer to be part of the group that ends his mad reign forever." With a final motion of her blades, in a scissor-like slash with the blades, the clone Latombe's head was separated from his body, the look of fear still present on his face.
Agent Peacock didn't give two thoughts about the clone as she turned around and took a moment to look at the rest of the battlefield. Ladybug, Antimena and Rena Rouge still were fighting one of the Latombe clones each, while Chat, Allegra and the other Agents were mowing through a swarm of Moths. She brandished her blades once more. She still had work to do. She rushed into the battle, blades at her side, the tips scraping the ground and making sparks as she jumped back into the fray.
Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The real Latombe felt uneasy. While he was to a degree connected to his clones, he was not sure exactly what was going on. He just coordinated as best as he could from his spot on top of the building. On his tablet he was trying to tap into footage form around the city, but he couldn't look at everything at once.
Then later came that first sensation, a painful burning heat over his whole body. Like someone threw him in the core of the Earth. He fell to his knees as he screamed out in pain. Luckily with the pandemonium going on the in the city no one heard him or he'd have given away his position. What was that? Where did that pain come from?
He spend a good few minutes contemplating as he suddenly felt immense chest pains, a really bad case of heartburn almost. He held his chest in pain as he screamed into pain some more. Another horrible sensation. So soon after the first one meant that he couldn't get up as easily.
But it didn't stop as he suddenly struggled to breathe as his throat clammed up as he held it and nearly felt himself choking. Latombe then found himself having woken up on the roof again…he had literally blacked out for fifteen minutes. Where did all these pains come from? He took a few moments to compose himself…he wondered if he could feel something his clones were experiencing.
His clones were expandable, as long as his original self survived, he was good, and if he could obtain what he needed. But the connection between his clones and himself were more…lively then expected. So he hoped that whatever happened to the other clones, that it was not too painful. He really didn't want to admit he may have made a few errors with his newest creation…His neck still felt twitchy.
