Narcissa slips into her bed that night, a smile on her face. She pulls her curtains closed to give herself some privacy and flings herself back on the bed, smiling to herself. She felt her entire body tingling with elation. Everything felt right. Everything felt good. All the fears that had been eating at her were gone, replaced with an intense happiness.
She could still smell Lucius's scent lingering on her and she didn't want it to fade. He smelt wonderful. Intoxicating. She would happily let it plague her dreams. Narcissa closes her eyes tightly, knowing that her dreams will be filled with Lucius Malfoy and that she would love every moment of them.
Before she's able to fall asleep, however, the curtains of her bed are pulled sharply open. Narcissa blinks from the light of the room, looking up to see who was interrupting her solitude. Bellatrix stands just outside of her bed, an intense glower on her face. Narcissa sighs and sits up, knowing that she should have expected this. "Well, come in, I suppose," she says, making room for her sister on the bed. "And shut those curtains before you draw the attention of everyone in the room."
Bellatrix continues to glower, but does as Narcissa asks, lighting her wand so that she can illuminate the dark space with the curtains closed. "You're a bloody idiot, you know," she seethes, climbing on to Narcissa's bed. "You don't even know what you've done."
"I know that you don't approve of him," Narcissa defends, "but you were wrong about Lucius. He cares about me and he doesn't have a girlfriend. I mean more to him than that."
"I sure as hell hope so," Bellatrix says, arms folded tightly. "Because you're going to have to marry him now."
Narcissa scoffs, letting out a laugh. "We just started dating. He's my first boyfriend. We're not even close to talking about-"
"I know you two slept together," Bellatrix hisses. "He took your virginity and now who else is going to want you, Cissa?" She reaches out and clutches Narcissa's chin in an almost threatening manner.
"Oh, come down," Narcissa says, blushing and pulling her face back from Bellatrix's grasp. "We're not medieval, Bella. I'm not unmarriable now. And besides, you've had sex with plenty of guys and Rodolphus still wants to marry you."
Bellatrix rolls her eyes. "My relationship with Rods is different and you know it. Did you two have to go and make it so obvious? You were practically flouncing it about to everyone in the vicinity during dinner."
The blush on Narcissa's face darkens. She lets out a breath, facing her sister. "I like him, Bella. I really like him. And it made sense for us. I can't explain it to you… but we have a connection. And I know he's sincere. So all those fears you were trying to frighten me with… They don't apply here. Lucius cares about me. And I care for him. I mean… Oh, Bella, I really care about him." She grabs Bellatrix's arms insistently in return, trying to make her see how wonderful this all was for her.
A break of softness crosses Bellatrix's face. "You really care about him?"
"Dreadfully so."
"I'll murder him if he hurts you. Though I'd be much happier if he were pursuing you legitimately. Like a true gentleman."
"That's outdated already," Narcissa argues. "Although I'm sure if things were to escalate between us, he'd speak to Mother and Father properly. I just… Oh, Bella, I can't jinx it by discussing marriage when it's all so new. You're just like Andi, always thinking too far in the future that you can't appreciate what's wonderful right here in the present."
"Someone's got to, because it's clear that the two of you are going to act like idiots about this. Did you at least use precautions?"
"Precautions?"
Bellatrix growls, reaching into her cape and pulling out a vial. "Of course you didn't. You bloody idiots. Were neither of you thinking above your disgusting lust? Idiots. Bloody idiots." She forces the vial into Narcissa's hand. "Drink this. I won't have you getting pregnant."
Narcissa's mouth opens in horror, the blush turning purple in embarrassment.
"Drink it," Bellatrix commands aggressively. "Or I'll pour it down your throat myself."
Obediently, Narcissa opens the bottle and drinks the terrible-tasting liquid quickly. Bellatrix inspects the vial and then forces Narcissa to finish the lingering drops.
"I suppose the two of you are planning on continuing your idiotic escapades?" Bellatrix looks to Narcissa but doesn't wait for a response. "So be it, I'll have to teach you to make the potion for yourself. And you will drink it. After every time, Narcissa. You can't forget a single time. Promise me this."
"I promise," Narcissa splutters.
"I don't think you were ready for all this," Bellatrix says, shaking her head. "You're still too young to see past the thrill of it all."
"Of course I can," Narcissa states firmly, looking at Bellatrix with confidence. "I've spent my entire life aware of my role and my reputation. I knew what I was getting into with Lucius before I ever started. I'm taking a risk with him. And yes, I know that there's more to sex than just having fun. I wasn't going there planning on sleeping with him, but we connected in a way where it became almost necessary that we get even closer… I can't explain it. But I don't regret it. Not for a moment."
Bellatrix rolls her eyes but pulls Narcissa into her arms. "I know you think I'm being a bully, but I'm just trying to look out for you, Cissa. I'm glad you're happy, I just… hope this pays off for you. I hope that Lucius is a better man than I expect he is and I hope he does right by you."
"He's worth the risk," Narcissa says, wrapping her arms around her sister. "He's wonderful, Bella. He makes me feel wonderful." Narcissa can't see Bellatrix's reaction as her sister gently pets her hair, but she hopes that she's able to see how happy Narcissa is and that it will ease her intensity about it. "I know it's all so soon and we're still figuring things out… but I think.. I think he might be it for me. The one and all that. And I know that's a romantic take, and I'd never admit that to anyone else, not even Lucius… It's silly, I know, I know. But he's everything I've been waiting for."
Bellatrix lets out a heavy sigh and Narcissa peeks a look up at her. "He's what you want?" she asks.
Narcissa nods.
An expression crosses Bellatrix's face and she returns the nod. "So be it. If he's what you want, then he's what you'll have."
"Thank you for understanding," Narcissa says, a smile spreading across her face. She doesn't even try to hide her feelings. She doesn't care that Bellatrix knows her every emotion, she wasn't trying to disguise her emotions anymore, to pretend like she didn't feel everything so deeply. She couldn't if she tried. The grand effect of Lucius was too much. She wraps her arms around Bellatrix, hugging her. "Oh, Bella… I can tell you how wonderful it was, now, can't I? You're not angry at me anymore?"
"I was never angry at you." Bellatrix's voice is solem and restrained.
"It was amazing," Narcissa beams, squirming in Bellatrix's arms. "He's so handsome and he understands me so well. And our friction… God." Her toes curl just thinking about it. "It was amazing. He was wonderful. And so good looking. You wouldn't believe how wonderful it felt. And his muscles and… Oh, god, Bella. It was beyond imagining."
Bellatrix snorts. "Oh I wouldn't believe it, would I?"
"Well, I mean… Oh, hell, you know what I mean." She takes Bellatrix's hand, twining her own hand in it thoughtlessly. "Is it always like this? So overwhelming and amazing?"
"No, Cissa," Bellatrix says, shaking her head. "Not always. And not with everyone."
"Well, I don't want anyone else so I won't have to worry about that."
Bellatrix pets her hair solemnly. "Get some sleep, Cissa," she says. "I'm sure it's been a long day."
Narcissa pulls herself from Bellatrix's lap, smiling broadly before flinging herself back in bed. "I'm going to dream about him," she promises, staring up at the ceiling. "Every night from here on out. He's the only dream I need."
Bellatrix gives her a smile, but it doesn't seem to really move any muscles on her face. She nods, sliding out of Narcissa's bed and parting the curtain. "Good night, then, Cissa. Try to get some actual sleep between your glorifying of Lucius Malfoy."
Narcissa rolls her eyes but she was feeling too invigorated for her mood to be brought down by anything. She pulls her covers up over herself as Bellatrix shuts the curtains. She closes her eyes, if only to picture her afternoon with Lucius all over again. She couldn't wait until she was back with him, feeling his mouth against her skin, touching him, having him touch her… He had started a craving in her that she was far from satiating. Even after spending half the day with him, she still only wanted more.
