Sometimes Naruto have nightmares, this is when he spends too much time in his office. If he ever gets one, he knows it's time for him to go home and spend time with his family, because the truth is, they are the cure to his nightmares.
Coming home late at night is common for Naruto, it's almost too common for him that he feels guilty. But whenever he does, his wife is always there to welcome him home, no matter time, as late as he gets, she is always there waiting for him. He feels so lucky, but there is also guilt and insecurity that he can't do the same for her.
"Welcome home Naruto-kun," the words Naruto will never get tired of hearing. It reminds him of how far he have come. He now has a home that he loves, a family to protect.
Sleeping at home is much better than in the office, Naruto knows this for sure. But tonight, even with how tired he is, he can't sleep, he toss and turn, and eventually he laid eyes on his wife, she has her back on him. He suddenly feels emotional, it was like the dam that has been holding his feelings broke. He loves his village, he loves living his dream as a Hokage, but everybody gets tired sometimes, he wants to rest.
Naruto hugged his wife, firm but careful not to wake her. He cried silently but also contented that he is with his family, beside his wife, he is home.
In the morning, Naruto wakes up clinging to Hinata, nothing new, but this time Hinata is already awake, playing with his hair.
"Ohayo Naruto-kun," his wife smiles, her smile is bright and warm, he loves her smile. Aside from her warm hug and smile this morning he feels other thing, his wife is touching him like she is touching a child, he knows she is feeling bittersweet.
"What's wrong Hinata?" as much as he is curious he is worried.
"You cried last night," his wife hugged him so tight after saying that, he feels her tears falling down, he knows this would happen and he suddenly feels his own tears falling down as well.
"It's nothing really… I just felt emotional that's all… I… uhm… I also want to say I'm sorry… for not being here… with the kids to help you, you know," Naruto says between his sobs. He wants to stay at home, he wants to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner at home, but that simple things is far with being a Hokage.
"Don't say sorry stupid! I believe in you, we believe in you, we'll be here waiting for you when you come home. Besides you have done so much for me,
I wake just in time with you and kids
Sometimes I wake up by your side,"
Hinata releases him from the hug and look at him deeply.
"You're my one and only, my lifeline"
Naruto feels secured, he feels the assurance he needs, he feels loved.
