OWL IV:
A week has passed, he had been keeping in contact with the three teachers on the younger side sans Thirteen, who was visiting Melissa's place more than once the last two days. As for the trio, Aizawa, Kayama and Yamada, it mostly was just fucking around and meeting up in small cafés and he officially signed the contract, "When will we be going over details?" He asked, standing in his daytime costume, basically acting like his suit.
"Right now!" The chimera said and stood on his desk, "Mind giving me a ride to the conference. Your uncle is already waiting for us."
Izuku raised his eyebrow in surprise but offered the principle his shoulder. "Hop right on!" He cheered and walked out of the door. Right before the two entered the conference room, the in costume Thirteen walked past. With Nezu in the room, Izuku closed the door slightly, "Thirteen." He called out, "We're going to have a talk about Mel later! I hope you don't mind."
The pro hero just gave him a thumbs up, hoping that the man doesn't notice the shaking legs. Owl's can be scary, turning their necks like that and all. But the pro hero Owl? Absolutely downright terrifying, date his cousin and you'll get about three threatening talks with him.
"Apologies, Nezu-san!" He said cheerfully, "Hey Uncle Yagi!" sitting on a chair in his skeletal form. "What's this about?" He questioned, tilting his head slightly.
Nezu cleared his throat and clapped his hands, "Originally, we were going to give All Might your teaching position of heroics, but! We've discussed this, since Yagi-san really trusts your judgement." A pause as the animal leaned forward, "We'll be discussing the potential successors in here once a month!"
Izuku nodded slightly, as a hero, you don't have time to be surprised and absorb the unexpected information immediately. "Yagi-san." He started, "Why not find someone quirkless?" He cleared his throat and uncomfortably looked around afraid of what his uncle would think or even say, "The quirkless inheritor survival rate for reaching an old age, is uh, a bit higher than a quirked one."
"Well, I mean-" Yagi started.
"He's correct, I assume you researched all of the old successors? They all have quirks. My boy! You're a genius." Nezu said and snapped his paws.
"You literally have an IQ quirk, Nezu-san."
"You don't even need a quirk for a high IQ!" He replied, equally enthusiastic. "I just got lucky."
He laughed slightly, "Thank you for the compliment." Turning to his uncle, "I've thought it over when you first told me about your quirk, I even did research with dad. All of them have quirks, it only boosted their first ones. Except for you, instead of boosting your 'quirk', it gave you all power instead." He said. "Which might not be good for the next successor. You've seen me quirkless until I was 9. My body had to build up because the organs would simply not recognize me until I had muscle. Concluding, if your successor would be built like a stick. They'll most likely explode."
The man leaned forward, "I'll think about it, Young one."
Izuku gave him a thumbs up with a happy smile, sparkles appearing around him. "Good to hear!" he turned to Nezu, "I suppose I'll get to hear about my position here?"
"Of course, they're coming in any minute, go take a seat." Nezu said.
Izuku tugged on his tie, feeling the warmth from late May flowing through the air. Maybe he should get a thinner version of his costume. That'd help.
He turned around and reached for the mini fridge. He grinned once he saw his favourite drink, "Melon soda~" He sang out and quickly grabbed a mini snack as well.
He turned around and bumped into the familiar dark haired person, "Hey Eraser!" He greeted the man and grunted back at him.
"Do you not have a hangover?"
"I did, I just woke up early to do my workout, and finished up at my house as well. Place was a mess." He leaned against the table, "Really helps!" He was in a good mood, the usual but, something just influenced it even more.
"Good to hear."
"Do you want to exchange patrol schedules? My agency is opening the week after school starts!" He then tilted his head and sat in the chair, which had his name on it.
Do you know how special people feel when they get a chair with their name on it? Very McFlipppin' special. "I'll send it to you."
"Do you want water?" He kept talking and waved at the pro hero; Hound Dog. When Aizawa just grunted again, he slid over the bottle.
"Thanks."
"No problem!" He smiled. He saw the blonde pro hero sit down next to him, "Hey Mic!" He took a bite of his snack. "Do you not have a hangover?" He questioned, curious.
"I didn't drink that much." The blonde said.
"Yes you did, you were just puking in my apartment. Shouta's cats don't like puking." Another fenimine voice entered the conversation. "Sushi doesn't as well but they tolerate it."
Aizawa snorted, "Correct."
Izuku just covered his laugh by dropping another piece of the snack in his mouth. A voice spoke up, "Hey..Are those my apple chips?" Kayama asked.
He froze, 'There was a name on it? Oh shit, think fast, think fast. What did Cap say when he ate his wife's favourite snack?'
"I only see our last name on that." He blurted out. A pause as the three turned to look at him. He clamped his hands over his mouth as he realised, honestly, he never bowed and apologised at this speed.
A red Kayma who was sitting next to him just kept waving it off, "Oh my god please stop bowing." She said and rushed to stop the number two hero.
A cackling cockatoo was laughing his ass off, "W-When, Y-You. Oh my god this is gold!" he panted out.
"Don't embarrass them, they just got married! Kayama, oh pardon. Mrs Tsukauchi isn't used to her last name yet." Vlad joined the conversation.
Izuku felt his phone buzz, repeatedly. The only person who can text through his do not disturb is Melissa. Mostly because she downloaded some kind of virus that always kept her on his grid. He looked up at Thirteen with wide eyes. Their shoulders were shaking and they were vigorously typing on their phone.
Izuku's jaw dropped open, "Thirteen, you did not!" He gasped, "Come where you-" He felt someone hold him back by his harness. He sighed and turned to said person, "Let me get them." He deadpanned, trying to ignore Kayama's look.
"Can't let you kill my best friend." She sighed.
"I'm not killing Mic or Aizawa. Now" He turned back to his cousin's partner, "Where were we!" He started to reach over the table once again, but looked back when he got shrugged back by force.
Owl got pushed back and two chair's fell on the ground. He fluttered his eyes open when he felt something by each side of his head, more buzzing came from his phone. Whose hair is in his face?
"Owl." A soft spoken Midnight gulped, "Could you, please, move?" She asked.
He blew the hair away from his eyes, "Wha-" He got a good view from her cleavage, especially in that suit. Turning red once again, he quickly shuffled up and started bowing repeatedly.
"I am so so sorry. Apologies, oh my god, please forgive me." He said repeatedly.
Kayama stood up and dusted herself off, "It was partially my fault as well." She admitted, "I shouldn't have pulled so hard."
Izuku stopped bowing when he heard a picture sound effect go off. He slowly turned to the space themed hero, "You're not invited to family dinner." He said and started walking towards them.
The principal clapped his hands, "Why did I hire such young heroes! I am questioning that too!" He said cheerfully as everyone turned quiet, "Let's start with everyone's assigned classes!"
The teachers all shuffled to their seats, and Izuku opened the dried apple's bag wider, and slid it over to Kayama. Who gave him a confused look but soon saw the apples, an appreciative nod and a slight blush came from her.
He gave her a thumbs up and opened his mini tablet out of his pockets, taking the pen out. "Starting with the teacher's homeroom for the first years, Aizawa you still have the A class. Kan, you have the B class. Their heroics teacher will be Tsukauchi, along with the new subject they all will have for two hours a week, quirk studies. This will be all in your email." The principal said and Izuku just slowly put away his mini tablet, feeling a bit embarrassed.
A breathless giggle came from next to him, he just raised his eyebrow and pouted. "As for you, Tsukauchi!" the next slide came on, "You're going to like this homeroom class! We'll be having very promising students."
He liked the sound of that, "Very promising?" He repeated and smirked, "Will I be teaching them stuff as well?"
"You have to do roll calls, administration, which will be sent your way, announcements and all." The mice waved, "Unless you want to assist students, giving them advice and all. You might want to discuss that with Maijima."
He nodded at the man, holding up a phone, Maijima replied with a nod and a thumbs up. 'So friendly, gosh I missed Japan. They're politer here than in America.' He paid attention back to the board since Nezu continued.
"Say, Tsukauchi. Join us for a hang out." Yamada said after most of the teacher wrapped up and left.
He scratched the back of his neck, "I wouldn't want to be intruding."
"You wouldn't be." A rough voice said next to him, "I saw the American rankings. You're basically a detective right?"
He nodded.
"Your insight might help my case. The detective at the station isn't as helpful."
Izuku nodded, "Ruze-san is retiring in a month."
"He sure took his time," Shota grumbled. Izuku laughed, "If nobody would mind, I'd be happy to join."
Midnight just sat there, quietly staring daggers at Present Mic. He tilted his head, confused. "Do you have a headache? You're squinting a lot." He asked, "I can get you a painstiller from grandma's office, I mean if she is even in office." He started muttering quietly.
Nemuri broke her gaze and looked at Izuku, "Like, office, as in in the building?" She asked, bewildered.
He stopped muttering, "Y-Yes." He looked at her confused. He mentally noted the sky blue eyes she has. 'Did I say something wrong?'
"You're telling me that recovery girl is your grandma?"
"Y-Yes, I am."
She now looked at him confused, "How come you're stuttering?"
He shakingly pointed behind her, "Grandma." He whispered. The old woman was standing behind Nemuri, with the most disappointing and scary look on her face, "How come you haven't brought Miss Kayama to office a long time ago!" She scolded, "You know that I can treat her! You could as well, damn your EMT licence." She muttered, holding up her cane, she smacked him. "Think more!"
"Y-Yes Ma'am."
The woman turned sweetly to the stunned Kayama, "Hello dear! I heard you have a headache."
All the teacher could do was blink and comprehend what just had happened to the oh so sweet lady. They shuddered when they were reminded of their own grandparents. 'Vietnam war flashbacks' Present Mic Joked in his head, partially.
"So you patrol this area till a few hours before teaching? How do you do it!" Izuku exclaimed as he pointed at the hung up map.
"Sleep deprivation and coffee" Aizawa hummed from his chair, whilst the other two were just in the kitchen making coffee. It had a nice atmosphere and was within walking distance of the school. Mic had a nice place to live due to his teaching, pro hero and radio career. He'd be jealous if the man had a backyard. Which Izuku happily has.
"I could probably get my secretary to make one where our ways could cross, or just nearby." Izuku said.
"Why?" Aizawa questioned.
"Well, you're my friend now, if you're ever out on patrol and get ambushed. I'll be there in a flash!" He said cheerfully and sat down on the couch, crossing his legs.
A small smile was brought out of Aizawa, "I appreciate it."
"You're the only hero that really patrols that late. I think you'd want someone to talk with as well."
"Not when we're beating villains."
Izuku snorted, "I have the best jokes during a villain beat down."
"Beating villains are we?" Nemuri asked and cracked her whip, "Let's just knock them out!"
Izuku looked at her whip and at the holder, tilting his head he blurted out a question. "What does your quirk smell like?"
Everyone present in the room shrugged, "We don't really remember smelling something before passing out." Present Mic said walking into the room with treys of coffee.
Owl just nodded and accepted the answer whilst Midnight just looked at the couch, "Your couch is cramped if we're all going to sit on it."
The green haired guy just looked around, taking note of how he nearly was pressing onto Aizawa.
"Family lives somewhere in Europe! And you two are the only ones who visit." He said and placed a hand on his hips. "Plus the occasional Tensei."
He raised his eyebrows but didn't say anything other than, "I can just sit on the ground, it's no problem."
Present Mic already started saying no and going on about how he is the guest, Izuku just shared a look with Aizawa and simultaneously slid off of the couch. He then smugly looked at Present Mic, crossing his arms.
Midnight giggled.
Aizawa had restrained the man with his capturing weapon and just placed the pro hero behind him on the couch, "I'll erase your quirk if you don't get a grip on yourself, over a couch." The man hissed, like a cat.
Whilst the two were quarreling like children he looked at Midnight and nodded at the spot behind him. A blush came off of her but she slowly sat down.
Izuku arched his head back and looked at the red pro hero, "You're red, I can open the window if you want."
"N-No, all is fine." She stuttered out.
Izuku hummed and tapped Aizawa's shoulder, "What are we watching?"
"Hizashi suggested a horror movie."
He gulped noticeably and just nodded, "Which one?"
"World War Z" Aizawa said, "Man, I was young when this came out." He groaned out.
Izuku shuddered and put his head on the couch. He absolutely hates horror movies. He especially hates zombies. Whenever he'd go out on a run as a teenager, he always imagined a zombie apocalypse starting and running for his life, along with a closely dealt with villain attack, it was contained eventually.
He looked at the ceiling and closed his eyes as he tried to calm down his heartbeat. 'Not gonna get eaten not gonna get eaten not gonnageteatennotegonnageteate-.' He took a silent but sharp breath once he felt something touch his hair.
He felt fingers go comb his hair and concerned sky blue eyes look at him. Blinking a few times, he gave her a smile. Just like nothing happened.
Kayama just gave him a smile back, but it didn't quite reach her still concerned eyes. He just deflated his shoulders and leaned against her leg.
'Thank you, Kayama-san.' He thought, feeling a little more grounded than before.
"Thank you for having me!" He said quietly and opened the door, "Aizawa not going home?" He asked once he noticed the missing man.
"He's too tired, I'm going to let him sleep!" Hizashi replied, "His patrol yesterday doesn't really help his sleep deprivation."
Izuku nodded, knowing how drained the feeling from fighting villains in some alleyways. "That's all right!" He motioned. He hummed his favourite song as he entered the elevator.
"Had a nice nap?" Kayama teased.
"Yes, I did." Izuku said, trying to separate the fact that his pillow was her lap.
"What was the mini-hyperventilation about?" Midnight asked quietly, as they walked out of the elevator.
He just clenched his jaw and walked out of the building, "Remember the 'Shopping Centre Apocalypse.' that happened in South Coast Plaza, California. I think it reached international news." He began rummaging through his cargo pants as they walked down the street.
"I only remember fragments of it. I just graduated then, I believe."
He held up the packet of cigarettes, "You don't mind if I do, right?" When she shook her head, he gave her a small smile and put an unlit one between his lips. "I just graduated as well, and was one of Captain Celebrity's sidekicks. Also does smoking affect your quirk, since it is kind of connected with fragrance."
A small gasp was heard, "They were one of the main agencies located there, right?" A small smile came from her, "One cigarette doesn't do anything but a series does. Learned it the hard way."
"Ah, I understand, " Izuku said and nodded, "Well, not many people know, but I record all my battles, even during my school years. As a kid who has a detective dad, videos are very important." Lighting up the stick he continued, "The now pronounced villain and then pronounced insurgent Terrorist. He wanted to make a point, at how fragile stuff can be protected, and how fast it could be taken from you, if not protected enough."
"Was the shopping center not protected enough?"
"It wasn't." Izuku said, shaking his head. "Only heroes and cops were located on the outer side of the buildings, occasionally they just walked through the bustling lanes but that'd be it. Said villain did not like that." He casted his head up and blew out smoke, "His mother was pronounced dead in the same shopping mall. She was struck by the loose quirk of someone fighting." He sighed, "Chain of events, the young son of hers did not forget a single thing that happened in there. Once his quirk really showed, he started his planning."
"You know a lot about it."
"I was put on the case after he got arrested." He gave Kayama a sad smile, "He said his attack was justified. The death of all those people just balanced out his suffering, nightmares and fostering process. He lost faith in everything once he heard that his mother's killer got sentenced lightly." he saw the parking lot get closer, "I was called in for the Shopping Center Apocalypse," He threw the cigarette on the floor.
"I nearly got infected." He lifted up his shirt, some claw marks were present from right under his ribs, down to his waist. "Nobody told me zombies had claws." He laughed under his breath, the laugh when you just think, I can't believe this happened.
Kayama inched closer and traced the scars with the tip of her fingers, faintly. "Sorry, I shouldn't have asked." She said.
Izuku put a hand on her shoulder, "It's okay, you didn't know."
"But still, I noticed you weren't doing okay during the movie. I didn't help you with an excuse like, water or anything."
He turned a bit red, "Well, you actually kept me grounded, with uh," he cleared his throat, "Going through my hair and stuff." He muttered.
A smile came on Kayama's face, "I'll be happy to do it again," she said and then hummed, "You have really soft hair."
Izuku rubbed the back of his neck, which had gotten warmer and warmer each time, "Which car is yours?" He asked.
She walked over to the one and only car Izuku had his eyes on, "The Mustang?" He asked with wide eyes.
"The mustang." She confirmed.
"You, are a woman, with taste. I have a project car and the horsepower would not even match with this one."
She waved away the compliments and licked her lips, "You have a project car?" She asked.
"Sure do, want to see?" He offered.
"I cannot pass up this opportunity." She said and opened her door, "Just follow you?" She asked.
"Just follow me." he grinned and stepped into his own car. Once the lights from Kayama's car turned on he pulled out and stopped next to her car. Quickly grabbing earphones from his glove compartment, "Catch these."
After she put it in her ears, he tapped on it. "How are you liking these?"
"Are these radio's?"
"Correct! I always have extras with me."
"Smart. So where are we going?"
"I live right at the border between Shizuoka, Nagano and Yamanashi. My agency is in a decent distance so it makes us able to get to any prefecture in time."
"My agency is located there as well." A surprised reaction from Midnight came.
Izuku laughed, "We'll be there in a flash." He said and pulled out of the parking lot and onto the abandoned streets.
Midnight grinned as her engine revved loud enough for the whole neighborhood to hear.
He pulled into his street, "..So that's how my first meeting with the Captain went." Midnight laughed over the intercoms.
"I knew he had many wives, but your aunt just took the reins of his agency." A pause, "Tsukauchi, I live on the beginning of this street." She said, keeping quiet as if she didn't subtebly stared at the hot person that lived on the street here.
"No way!" He said surprised, "I live at the end of it. So you're telling me we passed your place?"
"Yes."
"So cool." He said and turned on his turning signal, "We're here." He drove into his driveway, whilst Midnight parked hers on the curb.
He walked out and leaned against her car's open windows, "So you're telling me you live close to 7/11? The place where I constantly got my snacks from. "
"Sure do." She said and leaned into her seat, who knows what she'd do if he got only a slight bit closer.
"Nice!" He said excitedly, and opened the car for her, "My cars are in the garage. Do you want anything to drink?" He said, already offering drinks before she even got out of the car. She stepped out and laughed, "I think Hizashi gave us enough water to drink."
"How come he kept offering?"
"Shouta once forgot to drink for a whole day. Hizashi kept offering drinks from then on."
He laughed, "Sounds like something Aizawa would do." Opening the front door, he let her walk in whilst he reached to turn on the lights.
He gulped once he got close to Kayama, and at this point Kayama was convinced he did this intentionally. "Uh, T-The light is right next to you."
Neumire just nodded and slowly inched closer to him, "I'll turn it on the second you star-"
"Izuku! Do you have any win-" A voice said cheerfully.
The two jumped apart from one another and Kayama quickly turned on the light. "Hey Melissa, how are you!" She asked loudly, covering up her squeal, how did she know someone would come out to his house in the middle of the night.
Izuku quickly shuffled off his shoes, "I do have wine, come on inside." He said, opened the door all the way and walked into his kitchen.
The two women just smiled at each other and took off their shoes, "Say, the both of you are very red."
Izuku rubbed the back of his neck, "Yeah, it's the adrenaline rush. We raced here from U.A." He said and gave Kayama a look.
"Such a good example from pro heroes." Melissa joked, "Thirteen is on my couch right now, so I'd appreciate it if you had any red wine."
He looked in his wine cooler fridge, "What year of wine do you want?" He shuffled aside, "Nevermind, you can just pick one."
"All right!" Melissa cheered.
Izuku hummed, "Close the door after you leave, I'm showing Kayama-san my garage!" He said and tapped her wrist.
With a follow me sign they left the kitchen, "Your place is huge." Kayama said out loud.
Izuku rubbed the back of his neck, "I'd normally live small and cozy but I had a gut feeling." He shrugged, "So I just bought a decent sized place here." They now had walked into the garage, the lights turned on the moment they stepped in. He hummed, "Probably explains Jin."
"You have a 4-space garage." Midnight said deadly serious.
"Sure do!" He exclaimed, "The garage is a one way or with a key opener. Which I kind of forgot to attach." He said and rubbed the back of his neck.
Kayama chuckled and walked over to the motorcycle. Trailing her fingers over the seat, "You honestly have to take me out for a ride someday. This one definitely looks like it goes fast." She said and licked her lips.
Izuku was busy looking at his helmets, "I think you'd fit this one." He held it up, "But we'll try that another time." Putting it back he basically skipped to his project car, "This is my baby." The pastel green car stood there in its glory.
"I can see why it's your baby." She said and looked inside. 'The back is great for sex.' She thought and looked back at Izuku. "So, when is your agency opening?"
"Few days after school starts. When was the entrance exam or recommended one?"
They discussed the dates for when they could go out for a not-so-spontaneous ride and returned to the kitchen area. "I think that's it." He said and rubbed his hands together. "I'd show you my shooting range but I think it's a bit too late for that." The women moved and sat down at his island
Kayama's eyes widened, "You have a gun range?"
He nodded, "My long range quirk is out of admission for now, so i've been handling guns in case. On the other hand, Dad was a detective and thought it'd be a good skill to know." He explained. Looking at the kitchen he joked, "I'm glad I soundproofed Melissa's whole house."
Kayama bursted out laughing, placing a hand on her shaking stomach. "For future reference." She whispered incoherently underneath her breath, "Is your house soundproof as well?"
He blushed and leaned a bit in, "Kayama-san, you do know I have enhanced hearing right."
An equally red Kayama eyes widened, "What more should I know?" She asked and leaned in as well.
"The house actually is soundpro-" Izuku started but bumped his head against hers, hard. When a notification was sounded from each of their phones.
Izuku looked at the notification, "Yamada is asking if we got home." He gulped, red as a tomato.
"Ah, I'd better go home, you just know it's late when Hizashi asks if you're home already." She said and clicked.
He rubbed the back of his neck, "R-Right, let me show you the way out." He said and walked to the exit, "Is your head okay, by the way?" He asked. "My pain tolerance and regeneration are kind of hand in hand so I couldn't feel how hard I hit you." He asked, casting a concerned look at her.
Kayama smiled at him, "Just stings a bit!" She said and walked out, turning to the guy she winked, "Nemuri is fine, Kayama-san is a bit too formal for friends."
Izuku blinked, "Will do, Nemuri." He said and watched her walk to her car. Once she got in he closed the door and leaned against it, trying to calm his heart beat. "Ah shit." He cussed as he reflected on today. 'At least she knows of my phobia now.' He hummed.
"Holy shit." She said as she leaned against her steering wheel. "How does someone get fucking not kissed after two times!" She said frustrated and quickly turned on the engine.
Driving down into her garage, she stepped out and into the elevator.
Once she opened the front door, a cut purred against her legs, "Hey sweetie." She said and crouched down to pet it. "I'm going to send Hizashi mad voice messages and plan revenge on Thirteen, it'll be a good bonding moment for us." She picked it up, "You'll give me a lot of insight. "
The cat meowed and Kayama giggled, "He did call me Nemuri."
A message came from her phone,
OWL: Izuku. You can call me Izuku from now on.
Heartbeats hammered against her chest. "I'm in deep shit.
Izuku stood at the entrance of the U.A. building, assigned to welcome recommended students and show their way to their desks for their written tests. Wearing a slightly inspired military outfit with just his usual day-hero suit, really happy that he got one of those pins to keep his tie from wavering in the wind.
He saw a limousine pull up and the back opened, from there a girl with spiky black hair walked out. He looked at the tablet with names and faces I.D, "You must be Yaoyorozu Momo. Welcome to U.A, we'll be waiting until it is time to begin the exams. You could go sit in the cafeteria." He said and motioned to the room next to him.
"Thank you. If I may ask, what part of the U.S.A are you from? I recognized your accent." She asked and sat down at one of the tables facing him.
"I grew up in California."
"So you're an American hero?"
He nodded, "You might recognise my mask from some interviews."
"I'm afraid not."
Izuku just chuckled and turned to greet the new participant who was accompanied by his father, so it seems, "Welcome Todoroki Shouto. Welcome to U.A. You could get a seat in the cafeteria until it is time." He said and smiled at the young man, although he could not see due to his mask. The boy with the stoic face just nodded and sat at one of the tables in the back. A slight falter of his smile says enough about the escort.
"Hello, nice to see you again, Endeavor-san. You can't continue past this line." He said and motioned to the line on the ground.
"Why not." The older man growled back.
"Applicants only, your son can come on here since he's the one doing the exam. If you wanted to watch them you should've sent an email."
"I'm an alumni."
"Glad to hear you already graduated. Now please stop trying to cross the line."
"I'll play by your rules, number two." He spit out and turned his back.
"Nice to see you Number 4!" He said cheerfully.
The man grumbled something incoherent as Izuku's shoulders shook with silent laughs, "You have seemed to piss off Endeavor, he called you number two? But he's number two of Japan." Momo interrogated, half confused.
"Yaoyorozu-san, you can search up, uh," he thought about what, "You should rewatch the USA rankings. I'm pretty sure it's on HeroTube." He said, and started greeting others.
"Honenuki Juzo, welcome to U.A. Please take a seat until it's time to start." He tapped the 'present' button as Yaoyorozu gasped, "You're the no. 2 ranked internationally. Former no. 1 of the U.S.A right beneathAll Might."
"Correct." He said and nodded. "Pro Hero Owl, at your service." He got a calculating glance from Todoroki.
A familiar car pulled up and he grinned at the driver, leaving his post behind he walked to the car, "Goodmorning Nemuri." Her hair is sort of a mess, "You don't look like a morning person." He teased and leaned against the driver's open window.
She leaned her head against the steering wheel, "Owl~," she looked up at him with a look he can't really put a word on, she's probably tired. "Give me an hour and I'll be able to function correctly. Little Lizard," she called out, "Could you please get out so i can wake up properly."
"No problem with that auntie Nem~" the girl said with a teasing tone whilst looking between the two adults. "I'll see you after the exam!" The girl said and opened the car door, Izuku had to look out if he got hit or not.
"I'll see you at the practical exam!" The pro hero said and pushed himself off of the open window door. Nemuri was itching to lean closer.
She smiled and drove off.
"So Owl and Midnight, those two names even fit." She hummed, "Do you two hang out a lot?" She investigated.
Izuku just kept this blush down and tugged on his collar, trying to stay oblivious to what she meant with their names fitting together. "You must be Tokage Setsuna, Nemuri tried telling me about you, but I had to keep her off since i'll be grading your exams." He grinned at her unwavering poker face, "Go sit with the other participants in the cafeteria." He motioned to the tables.
She clicked her tongue, "No fun." Pouting, she left to sit with another participant.
"Yoarashi Inasa. I believe that's everyone, please wait until the exam starts."
Whilst they all streamed into the cafeteira an alarm came from his earphone, "It's time for the written test." He said loudly, the crowd immediately turned quiet, "Please follow me to the exam room. A colleague and I will explain the rules."
Once the seats were filled, Aizawa walked in, nodding at the man. The tired pro hero began explaining, "If you look at your desks, there is a compartment, please empty your pockets." He said and pressed a button that caused them to open, as students emptied their pockets, Izuku kept a close eye.
When they were done, he walked past each one of them and banded a pencil and a rubber. "This is what you'll be using for the whole test. If you break it, just put your hand in the air. Same thing goes for questions."' he finished and looked at the few hands in the air. "Your question, Wanatabe?"
"When are we allowed to hand in our exam?"
"Whenever, make sure to look over it." He answered and sat at the desk in front, right next to the pro hero who spoke up, "Attempts at cheating will result in your disqualification."
Izuku grinned at the man as an uneasy look on participants' faces appeared. 'He does his job well.' He hummed.

He had to disqualify about 10 participants, some had smart ideas, but others kind of had lame ones. Writing on your arm doesn't really help you and is very noticeable.
"I'm in the first group with Yamada." He said to Aizawa, who grunted in return, "The last round was a one-for-all right?" He asked in sign.
The man just held his hands down and nodded at the no. 2. "I'll see you later."
With a salute Izuku left for the training grounds, he passed Midnight in the hallway, "Good morning~" He sang out and turned, making sure to not walk into any walls backwards. "You look awake."
"Sure, am~." She replied, and batted her eyelashes, "Want to wake me up even more?"
Izuku just shook his head, "So funny." He muttered under his breath and chuckled as he turned back around and into the obstacle room, "Hello!" He said happily and waved at Yamada.
"Hey Owl!" The man replied with the same energy, "The new batch looks promising."
Owl rolled his eyes, "Had to deal with Endeavor though. Gave me bad vibes since the start." He crossed his arms and looked at his kid, "He once told me that his masterpiece will surpass me in no time, after i told him why he's ranked so high internationally."
"How?"
"A lot of crime in Japan. More in America, measured for the whole country and then compared in percentages and all." He waved it away, "Either way, he was not happy about that."
Yamada snorted, "Sounds like the man." Izuku's watch beeped and the cockatoo took that as his sign. "HELLO LISTENERS! STRETCHING AND OBSERVING TIME IS OVER! PLEASE TAKE PLACE AT THE LINE." he shouted using his quirk.
Izuku was glad he always had earpieces on him, they at least did something. He squared his shoulders and smiled at the kids, "Don't hurt your fellow participants, if we see you sabotaging someone that doesn't include using your quirk, you'll be disqualified." He sent the crowd a fist, "Use your quirk free as you want. Don't hurt others a lot please, I'm only a mere EMT."
"GO!" Present Mic shouted.
Izuku looked at the moving kids. One had softened the ground, Honenuki, he noted. Fast reaction, wide area. Could most definitely improve. His attention was caught by the other flashy quirks that immediately adapted, or were ahead with their own plans.
The Todoroki boy just slid across the field with his ice as the taller Yoarashi just kept pushing himself with his wind, he nudged Present Mic side, "Number 23 and 41 are competing among themselves."
"Noting that down."
"Yaoyorozu should work on her speed." Izuku said and Yamada just jolted the words down. "Honenuki needs to work on the depth of his quirk. Probably stamina and mini air cartridges with a mask. Very promising."
"Back to Yaoyorozu, needs to work on small functional support items. Very promising, but needs to stop using those huge cannons." He scanned the description of her quirk. "Items use up lipids. Small items would indeed be more effective. Same goes for her bo staff, got mastery, but maybe a fold out would be faster."
"Yoarashi, good speed. His build is a bit too bulky, it holds him back from the agility he could have." He paused and bit the inside of his cheek, "Improvements that could be made is his precision of his quirk."
He had mixed feelings about the Todoroki, "Todoroki.. He's not taking this seriously." He paused, "Not even using his flames. I'll address it in the interviews." Mic nodded, "For the rest has good agility. Durability is definitely there, but he's wearing down."
"I'll take Yoarashi and Todoroki." He said, and pointed to Yamada, "You take the last two and we'll do the last round."
The man nodded and shouted their names, the two now following Yamada. "Number 23 and 41. Come on with me."
The two middle schoolers followed him into a room, "Number 23, please follow me into the private room. 41, there is a tv." He said and slid the remote across the coffee table. He turned around and opened the door for Todoroki. The boy quietly walked inside the room, Izuku nodded at Yaorashi and closed the door. "Shouto Todoroki." He said and sat down at the table, "This will be an interview as to why you should attend this school."
The boy nodded, "Why attend U.A. High School?"
"To be a hero."
"Nothing with your legacy?"
"No. I'd rather do it on my own accord and do it with my own motivations."
"Why's that?"
"If I do it for the wrong motivations, I'll be dead under a bridge somewhere."
Izuku nodded, the boy wasn't wrong, he knew a few former pro heroes like that. They only passed the pro hero exam because of their determination for flashiness. "Your favourite things show insight on a lot of you as a person. Who's your favourite hero?"
"All Might."
"Why?"
"He can save anyone."
"Anyone he can reach." Izuku corrected. "What would you do if you can't save everyone?"
A determined look came on his face, this surprised Izuku, the so far stoic kid expressed emotions. "I'll save everyone." He said dead serious. "I'll do the best I can."
"What if you work yourself to the bone?"
"They'll toughen up."
"That isn't healthy." The pro hero hummed, "I wouldn't get in the top 10 internationally if I never took breaks. Breaks are good to let your body rest and do it's best ability."
The boy nodded, "I understand."
"Good." The two continued with the questions, each time Izuku scribbled something down. "Can you work in a team?"
"I'd rather not."
"You will eventually, work on your people skills." He doesn't mean it harshly, well, kind of. Talking with people will end in good results. Not working with other heroes will get you and others killed. No one wants that.
"Tell me about the time you didn't want to become a hero?" Sure, it was a weird question. But emotions do a lot to people. Once you feel like you can't do something anymore, you'll cave, and slack off.
The boy looked surprised at the question, but quickly recollected himself, "After a training session with my father." He did not show any signs of emotion. "I went to visit my mother. She spilled boiling water on me. It wasn't her fault."
Izuku looked confused and clenched his jaw. The lack of any emotions the boy had is concerning. For now, he'll just wait until the boy opens up.
He cleared his throat, "How do you deal with stress."
"I'm a very cool-headed person."
He did show that in the exam once he got trapped in a whirlwind of Inasa. Good for him. "Would you run from danger?"
"Depends on the situation."
That piqued Izuku's interest as he quickly made one up, "An S-ranked villain with a strength augmentation is heading your way with the intention to kill. You are out on the cargo, checking a follow-up lead you have for a case. First thing when you hear it, what will you do?"
"I would get out on the water." Todoroki said after a few seconds, "Away from boats, the only thing the villain could use to throw is left over ice. If I master the technique I've been learning that won't be a problem. Immobilize the villain and ask a water based hero to get the villain out of the water."
Izuku nodded, "What technique are you working on?"
"Sliding on ice and removing it after. It's a bit like skateboarding, right foot forward and left foot back to melt it."
Izuku clicked his tongue, "Off the record now." He said and clicked the button, "Your answers are based on being the best, how come?"
The boy stared at him for a second, "Endeavor."
Izuku connected the dots, "Working to the bone, you haven't used your whole quirk during the exam." He sighed, there is nothing he could actually do unless Todoroki comes and tells everything that happens in person and on record, "If you continue to not use your fire. I'm afraid we won't let you attend U.A., we don't have time to play around for three years, we have to whip you into shape with a good mentality. Students earned their spot." He tapped the paper on the table, evening it out. "If you can't use your fire." He looked into the slightly widening eyes, "How can I make sure you can save everyone."
The boy opened his mouth to reply, but Izuku had already stood up, "Be glad this isn't on record. Once you're in U.A., I expect you to use your fire with skill, just like your ice." The boy closed his mouth and nodded, determination in his eyes. Todoroki stood up and walked out of the room, only sparing a glance at the tall middle schooler.
Izuku noticed the pang of hate in the boy's eyes. He hummed, "41, please come on in."
The boy shook his head and walked in the room. "Inasa Yoarashi." He said, "Take a seat."
"You're the American pro hero Owl!" He said, "I've seen your projects, sir!" The guy said passionately.
Owl cracked a smile, "Should I be concerned about that?"
"Oh." The guy said, a few seconds after that. The guy just bashed his head onto the table, bowing. Izuku's eyes widened and alarmed, immediately he started waving at the participant.
"So sorry it came over like that, therefore I apologise! I just followed the project because of how passionate you are about the subject, sir!"
Smiling weakly, Izuku picked out a tissue and handed it to the now bleeding guy, "Apologies accepted?" He said hesitantly and cleared his throat, "If you're going into the hero course, it might be better to do so without brain damage," He joked, lightly.
"Yes, sir!"
"So on with the questions." He looked at his clipboard, "Why attend U.A. high?"
"The school is full of passion about heroes! I would like to become one of the best from a passionate school!"
"Good to hear." Seems like this guy likes passion, it's a good motivator. "Who is your favourite hero?"
The teen put on a wide smile, "Well sir! It's actually you. I've kept up with you since the first project came out." He then paused, not really sure if he should add the sentence. But did, "Along with the apocalypse thing." Inasa knows that the hero has a spot for the incident, he tends to avoid it as much as possible in interviews.
Izuku unnoticeably gulped and smiled under his mask, "Flattered, kid. The project was very needed in my community." 'Stop The asian Hate' project was a smaller project he has. There always was an underlying distaste for Asians in America, whilst they kept fetishsing, romanticising and mocking the community. It wasn't a nice circumstance for him whilst he still was considered quirkless and asian as a kid.
"What would you do if there is a situation where you can't save someone?"
"I would rather not have anyone die on my watch sir." He said, "I would like to pick up an EMT course. So I'll always be able to help. Heroes with those diploma's tend to be one of the best."
The hidden gleam in his eyes made Izuku smile, "How good do you work in a team."
"My quirk isn't really that suited for teams. Considering it is more of a wild controllable thing. I tend to work alone but once my precision is better, I will be better in teams and actually will be able to lend a hand, sir."
Izuku noted that down, he liked the effort he put into the quirk. "Tell me about the time you didn't want to be a hero."
His smile faltered a bit, "I used to look up to Endeavor, he was very passionate about solving cases. He rejected my request for an autograph. I no longer recognize him as a hero."
"Why not as a hero?"
"Because of the coldness in his eyes." Inasa said, "No hero should be cold to anyone. The heroes are here to protect. Not to put anyone on edge." Izuku nodded and agreed with his statement. But can't deny the amount of solving cases of the pro hero, he still recognizes the man, another question popped up inside his head.
"Is that why you were competing with Endeavors son?"
"Honestly sir, kind of. At first it was just competing against every one of them. But when he catched up, I felt a bit put off by his character."
Izuku nodded again, "How do you deal under stress?"
"I deal well. I won't let it go to my head until everyone is safe and secure."
"What if it becomes too much to bear?"
"I would talk to myself and reassure myself and others. It's a way of coping."
Nodding, he asked the next question, "Would you run from danger?" He then added, "Something S-ranked."
"I wouldn't deny the passion of a S-ranked. I would try and clash, maybe slow it down. My go to thing would be getting it up in the air."
"What is something you should work on?"
"Precision of winds." He said and Izuku nodded, "I believe that those are all the questions." standing up he bowed to the teen, "Thank you for letting me interview you."
Inasa bowed back, a bit more controlled than the first time. At least he didn't bang his head against the table. "It was a pleasure sir! Self reflecting is good."
Izuku cracked a smile, "It sure is," He turned off the button and looked at the teen. "From what i've seen during the exam. Was that you hold a grudge towards Todoroki. Separate blood from the person."
A confused frown came on his face, "I'll try but I can't promise."
The pro hero nodded, "That's all I could ask for." clapping his hands and opening the door. The two walked out into the room which was occupied by Todoroki. "That was all for today. I will be walking you out." He announced.
As the trio were walking through the halls, they passed Present Mic's group. They inched closer and led the way out. After all the teenagers were out of their sight, Izuku hummed, "The two were, interesting."
"Same goes for me, Tokage definitely has a thing for teasing Nemuri. Guess it runs in their genes."
Izuku let out a laugh, "This morning she said that Nemuri and mine hero names fit together."
Present Mic had a thoughtful look on his face but nodded, "It does. Also Nemuri?"
The green haired adult frowned, "Did I say something wro-" A voice interrupted him, "Hey boys! Are we going to hang out today? I've had a frustrating morning."
"Hey Nem!" Hizashi greeted.
Izuku nodded, "You looked frustrated."
"It sure was, want to help me out?" She batter her eyes at him again.
He tilted his head and frowned, "I'm not any good at massages." Whilst everything in Yamada's eyes screamed, 'Not that kind of frustration.' He just decided to keep quiet and observe.
"I could teach you." Nemuri offered.
Izuku just smiled happily, "Thank you! I tend to pull a muscle after training." He said.
The three got into another conversation as they made way to the conference room. Entering it, Izuku immediately headed to the snack, "Nemuri! You want some apple chips and a drink? Yamada! You like water right?"
They made noises of confirmation as the two gossiped. He came back with a bright smile, "Here you go!" He handed out the drinks and snacks before sitting down in his chair.
Checking his messages, he noticed the messages from Jin.
'Hey sir! Police kind of shoo'ed me away from under the bridge due to some art project happening! So I'll be relocating to the park for some time. Until I find a better place to stay.'
He said that 50 minutes ago, Izuku's mind was going haywire as he began to spam the teen.
'Jin!'
'Jin.'
'Twice! '
'Yeah?'
'You can stay at my place instead, I don't start working until school starts. I know you're most likely not really that comfortable with me yet, but you can camp in my garden! It's been like a week or two since I met you! But I don't really think that isn't a problem. There are always the options available that you sleep in the house instead, I have like, two rooms open so it'll be absolutely no problem.'
Izuku had been typing that for a good 2 minutes. Fast fingers get you far in life, definitely in the hero business. He cannot even comprehend how many times he got sent in somewhere with a bomb because of his invincible skin, unless it has a really big force, but most police men think it just really fits with his regeneration. Which is a complete bull, he could still eventually die.
Grandma Chiyo always says that he most likely would die of old age, just like it does in the rest of the family. Dad's side too. He felt a small poke, turning his head to see a concerned Hizashi looking at him.
"You good, Tsukauchi?"
Izuku laughed a bit breathlessly, "Just a bit out of it, the indirect kid of mine just got chased away from his sleeping spot. Then I just got lost in my thoughts."
Hizashi nodded, "Yeah I get that."
He gave the blonde a thumbs up and looked back at his phone.
'I think I trust you enough to sleep in your garden, not yet inside. But the garden sounds good.'
Izuku let out a soft breath of relief and immediately texted back.
'Good! I have a conference but till then, maybe stay in the park? I can pick you up with my car. 30 minutes tops.'
'Okay Midori! See you then.'
Locking his phone, he threw an apple chip in his mouth. He looked at the teachers that were slipping inside of the room. He opened the bag a bit more and slid it to Nemuri. "You good?" He asked.
"Just thinking."
Izuku nodded, deciding to let her be and not interrupt her. Opening his soda and watching as the chimera stepped on the podium. "Let's all start reviewing! Tsukauchi and I have gone ahead to fish through the top 20 of our recommendations." Reminding that his name now is Tsukauchi, he took the mask off.
As they all discussed the top 20, they narrowed it down to 5 appliances. "After a good conversation with the board. We came down to the conclusion that these students are very promising. Making it an exception for this year's recommended students to consist of 5, instead of four." Nezu announced. Whispers spread between the teachers, except for the young teachers who just shared a knowing look. Probably already knowing who passed and who didn't. Nezu nodded at him, standing up Izuku started talking about him.
"Starting off alphabetically, Inasa Yoarashi. A tall passionate young man. His quirk is Whirlwind, which is the ability to manipulate air over a wide area. As seen in the clip, he can create extraordinary gusts of wind. His precision could be better which is why he's applying to a school like ours. He has both defensive and offensive abilities. With the right costume, he'll be able to fly for a span of time." He continued, "Having the highest score there is, it would be a mistake to let him go to another school."
Nodding and sitting down, Present Mic stood up. "Juzo Honenuki." He announced as the slide of the presentation flashed to him. "He's a calm person. He cares about others' well being, as he did not let them slip through his quirk down to their necks. Still making them capable of breathing. With his flexible thinking he ranked quite high in the whole exam."
"Next is Momo Yaoyorozu." Aizawwa stood up this time, "Yaoyorozu has potential. Her quirk lets her create anything as long as she knows the chemical composition of it, which says a lot about her intelligence. She overcame the obstacle made by Todoroki with her quick-thinking and got out of the situation fast. She's very efficient with her combat skills, mainly in bojutsu. With us by her side, she'll have the creativity and ability to be a great hero."
"Setsuna Tokage." Izuku held in a chuckle when he noticed Nemuri lean forward in interest. Noticing the shaking shoulders of Izuku and the glances out the corner of his eyes, she waved him away, a slight blush on her face, 'How long has he been keeping an eye on me?'
"Tokage possesses a very good level of skill. As seen in the clip, she has multiple fighting abilities, such as MMA, Muay Thai and even Judo, making her have a sharp eye and a lot of spatial awareness. Displaying good tracking skills and pursuing potential. Very creative on how she uses her quirk to split off and create noises putting people on edge, along with keeping her five senses intact and herself safe." Yamada said. "She could be a great leader later in life."
"Shoto Todoroki." The room got a bit colder, ironically enough. Izuku stood up and started his speech about the boy. "He is willing to work himself to the bone, willing to make efficient techniques. Although, his personality comes off as cold and aloof. He prefers to keep to himself in teams. As you noticed in the clip, there is a lack of fire. I have discussed this with him. I would only let him in on these terms;" Izuku said and took a breath, 'Sure it's a bit harsh, but it has to be done. You can't hold back as a hero.' Continuing, he started. "He uses his fire by the time the sports festival arrives. He is able to communicate with his teammates and classmates. Those are the terms. He is willing to be determate about not using his fire, we just have to place his determination into his ability to be a good hero that knows his limits."
The other teacher looked a bit thoughtful about it, but Nezu had a crazy gleam in his eyes. Izuku took note of that to talk about it later.
"Those were all of the recommended students. Feel free to come look at the entrance exam. Those who are required to be there have gotten an email from me." Nezu announced and clapped, "That's it! Have a good day, humans!."
Izuku snorted, having a feeling Nezu would add, 'Whatever you humans even do on a day like this? Probably something very human like, like netflix and chill whatever that is. It isn't even educational.'
Packing up his stuff, he checked his watch. Sending a quick text to Twice that he's done and asking for his location. The boy replied a few seconds later. Throwing away the snacks and the empty can of melon soda.
"Hey Izuku~" Midnight sang out and tapped his shoulder, "We're going to have a movie night again, you up for it?"
Izuku rubbed the back of his neck, "I actually am going to get Jin settled in. I'm making progress with him trusting me!" He said excitedly, "I do have a feeling he likes camping, so I'm letting him stay in my garden."
Midnight's eyes widened in surprise, "That's great!" then pouted, "Sad to not see you at film night, but do what you have to!"
He smiled, "Will do!" He waved at the trio and inched out of the door before he could hear Midnight say, "If you need help don't be afraid to call!"
"I won't!" Izuku said with a smile as he exited the door. Not hearing Mic say, "Even offered to call? Who knew you would turn off your do not disturb for a guy."
"Hisashi!" She exclaimed and poked his side, "You literally catsit Shota's cat to get closer with him in his second year."
"Yeah, and?"
Aizawa leaving the room just got them to hurry out as well.
Izuku stepped out of his car and entered the park, finding a small taiyaki stand. Knowing how good the pastry is from his basically adopted grandparent, he gets a handful for Jin and himself.
Noticing that the sun was close to setting, he made his way to the center of the park. Jin said that he was there.
Looking from left to right, his gaze stopped on the boy that was looking up at the sunset. Moving and sitting next to him on the bench. He made his presence known and handed the teen the pastry.
"They didn't help you go somewhere?" Izuku asked. Jin immediately catching onto the subject shook his head.
"I'm well known in the area. They asked," he paused, "I said I had a place to go. Then I texted you."
Warmth spread through the green-haired adult's chest, "Then you're staying with me, kiddo." He ruffled Jin's hair, less hesitant now.
"Yes sir." Jin said and leaned into the touch, "Goddamn it Midori! Stop with the sappy shit or I'll cry."
Izuku let out a laugh, "Let's get you home."
A/N: This was a lot for a chapter! Leave your thoughts in the comments if you want to! Uhh, another character introduced in the next chapter! Guess who ;)
