Gehenna, Hell, December 3, 2020; Current Time: 1 minute and 30 seconds Til Midnight
Gabriel arrived at the entrance of the Ars Nova. This meeting was highly confidential. The other Archangels were preoccupied and sent her in as their representative. It was her duty. As the Archangel who represented Foundation, she was to be the bridge between Heaven and the Earth. And now, she served as the bridge between Heaven and Hell. She brushed some of her hair out of the way as she entered the building.
Her green eyes flitted about as some thoughts entered her head.
I should paint this entire building one day as a prank, she thought, making her way to the meeting location.
Arriving at the doors, Gabriel found Serafall waiting for her outside. Her rival smiled and walked up to greet her.
"Gabriel. You're late," Serafall said, smiling cheekily.
"Hmph. These feathers take a while to clean." Gabriel returned with an equally snarky response. Her face hardened after a few seconds as she glanced over at the door. "I don't trust him."
Serafall's smile fell off her face as she glanced at the doors. "I know. You two have history but he decided to help us when we requested so long as we don't impede his life. Of course, that didn't stop Blacklight from monitoring him. Samael is living in a house in rural Scotland by the loch."
Gabriel remained silent as she nodded. Serafall sighed and pushed the doors open.
"Hey, Sis." Samael smirked at her entrance.
"Good. You're getting much better," Kali said, nodding in approval. Before her was a mess of small objects. To train Issei's endurance using the creative power of the Shevirat Ha-Kelim, she had him recreate objects after studying them. It was difficult at first but Issei was getting the hang of it. Her promise to Lucifer to keep Issei safe was one she was going to keep. She wasn't going to fail her friend a second time.
"T- Thanks," Issei said, panting.
[You okay?] Ddraig asked.
"Peachy. How are you two holding up?" Issei asked.
|We're more worried about you.| Tiamat replied.
Issei shakily got to his feet and concentrated. He held his palm out and another toy car appeared in it. This time, it sent him over the edge as he collapsed on his back, dropping the car in the process.
"This… this seems really useless in combat!" Issei panted out.
"It may look that way but it'll grant you a near-endless supply of weaponry and projectiles, as well as clever ways to trick and trap your opponents," Kali said, walking over. She held her hand out and Issei took it, allowing the Goddess to pull him up.
"Woo! I think I can make one more," Issei said. His chest heaved up and down in protest as he held his hand out once more.
Kali sighed and grabbed his wrist, lowering his hand. "That's enough for today. I can't have you passing out on me. You've already expended enough energy as it is."
"But I only made seven cars in five hours!" Issei protested.
"And you look like you're about to pass out. Go get some rest and recharge. You'll be on your own tomorrow anyway," Kali said.
"On my own?"
"Yes. There's a meeting of Gods within my own pantheon. We're going to discuss strengthening our borders since Demons are still scattered all over the world without a proper leader to keep them under check. I'll be back in a few days to help you move forward. For now, just do the regular exercises we've been doing," Kali said, patting his back.
"I guess," Issei said, looking down at the floor.
(You still haven't gotten it down yet?) Mastema asked. Her ethereal form hovered next to Kali, looking at Issei with a slightly concerned expression.
"No, not yet. Why can't I make 10 toy cars?" he said.
"Come on. Let's see if there's anything to eat." Kali grabbed Issei and hauled him to the door. As she pressed the button to take them to the living room, a magic circle appeared in front of her.
"Is that…?"
"Father, yeah. I have to head out early. You can ride the elevator to the living room right?" she asked.
"I'm not an old lady." Issei pouted.
Kali laughed and ruffled his hair, which was difficult considering their height difference. She waved him goodbye and disappeared in a flash of violet light. Issei sighed and entered the elevator as the doors dinged open.
Issei entered the living room, shuffling his feet like a zombie. He spotted a tuft of auburn hair sitting next to Mitsuki. Smiling, he walked over and grabbed the person, eliciting a yelp from them.
"Lily!" Issei said.
The little girl smiled and laughed. "Put me down!" she laughed.
Mitsuki smiled and patted the spot next to her. Issei sat down, placing his other sister on his lap.
"Asia is…?" it had been a while since the four of them were together just spending time with each other.
"She and Eren are on a date. Irina is upstairs and Rossweisse and Kuroka are at work," his twin said.
"And the others?"
"Rias took her peerage with her to eliminate a stray devil located on the east side. Danchou and Bova are out doing who knows what and Ingvild is at the library studying for an exam. It's just us in the house right now," Mitsuki said. "Well, us and…"
"And?" Issei raised an eyebrow at her added sentence.
"Azazel was here a few moments ago before he had to leave for a meeting. He left Risa to watch over us. If you want to know where she went, she's in the kitchen making food," Mitsuki replied.
"And what have you been doing?" Issei looked down at the beaming child on his lap.
"I've been watching shows with Nee! A-nee went out so she couldn't watch anime with me," Lily said, pouting a little.
"Is that right?" Issei said.
"Oh right, you might want to read this too. It seems that the chaos is spreading everywhere." Mitsuki handed him her tablet.
Wondering what was happening, Issei took the tablet and was floored by the first thing he read.
Chaos in Europe. Prime Minister of Greece found dead in terrorist attack.
"How do we know it's not just regular terrorists?" Issei asked, scrolling down.
"Look at the image and tell me if a terrorist can do that," she asked.
Issei suppressed the urge to regurgitate his breakfast on the tablet.
Greece's Prime Minister was mutilated in ways that appeared too manic and too insane for any sane person. His eyes were scratched out with his fingers still stuck on his face. The last expression he had was one of utter pain and madness. There was a Leviathan cross on his forehead, carved by what Issei assumed was the bloodied letter opener on his desk. And one of the most disturbing parts was that his mouth had signs of internal burns coming from the inside of his body.
"What the hell happened? It looks like something a cultist from a horror movie would do," he said.
"They found burn marks inside his throat, coming out. Whatever was there burned him from the inside out. They also found lots of electromagnetic anomalies in the office and pages from the Prime Minister's books were shredded," Mitsuki added.
"So what does this mean?" Issei asked.
"I don't know. The Greek Chapter of Blacklight is still performing their own individual investigation into the matter. Danchou hasn't said anything yet so I'm waiting on her," Mitsuki said.
"Let me know if she-"
Mitsuki's phone buzzed on the table. The two looked at each other for a few moments before Mitsuki reached forward and grabbed it. "It's a text message from Danchou."
"What does it say?" Issei asked.
"Don't use magic to communicate. Demons are tapping into magical frequencies to keep an eye out on us… use a phone for now," she read aloud.
"No communication circles? Wait, won't they be able to see our phone numbers?" Issei asked.
"No, she said that she has backup phones ready for us with only five contacts in each phone," Mitsuki replied.
"This is all so strange. What the hell is going on?" Issei asked.
"Aniki, language," Mitsuki said while covering Lily's ears.
"Yes, you really should watch your tone around children, Issei."
The two turned around to see Risa coming in with a tray of food. She had prepared some ramen for the three. Her ears twitched as she sat down on the armchair. Risa smiled at the two as she grabbed her ramen bowl and glass and set it on the table next to her.
"Thanks for the food, Risa," Issei said, reaching for the ramen.
"No problem. So what's going on? You two having some trouble over at Blacklight?" she asked.
"No, it's just…" Issei's eye darted to his preoccupied younger sister and decided it was safe. "The Prime Minister of Greece was killed this morning and the-"
"The site was very gruesome. Signs of demonic activity were detected. I heard from Lord Raphael. Dulio was sent to investigate the situation and concluded that this was the work of demons," Risa said. She took a sip from her glass and continued. "They're having a meeting about it right now. This isn't the first time this has happened."
"What?" Mitsuki's eyes grew wide.
Risa nodded grimly. "This has been happening for a while. We don't exactly know the specifics but several people across the world have been found this way. Each person had a different mark carved into them."
"So, are the demons taking people out randomly or is there a pattern?" Issei asked.
"So far we don't know. We were hoping that Blacklight would be able to find out," Risa said.
"Good, you four are here." Rikka took off her sunglasses and got off the lamppost. Bova stood next to her eating a sandwich.
Issei, Irina, Mitsuki, and Ingvild walked towards them. The air around Rikka was serious. Far more serious than it had been in a while. From her body language and facial expression, the four could tell that the situation was serious.
"Is this about the Prime Minister?" Irina asked.
"No. It isn't just the Prime Minister. Follow me. Base, I need a Gate over at my location," Rikka said.
A Warp Gate opened in front of them.
"Come on. It's better if we talk about this in the briefing room than out on the streets," Rikka said.
"So what's going on?" Issei asked as they entered the Blacklight base. "The message you sent Mitsuki was kinda vague and disturbing. You told us not to use a CC or our AS."
"There's a good reason for that," Rikka said as they walked down the hall. "We are led to believe that we've been compromised."
"Compromised?" Ingvild asked.
"A few weeks ago, one of Atalanta's highest-ranking operatives was found dead in Greece. Their Armillary Sphere had gone missing and the tracking has been removed. This leads us to believe that we now have a rogue AS capable of accessing our database at any time and listening in on communication channels. Our servers have initiated Ragnarok Protocols and all non-administrative personnel has been relegated to surface level information only. All information with Level 2 or higher clearance can only be accessed by Administration and the Divine Ten," Rikka explained.
"We don't have access to Files?" Issei asked.
"Temporarily. As a precaution, a lot of our agents have switched to analog and are communicating by phone." Rikka grabbed her AS and pressed it against the door. The door beeped and opened. She gestured for them all to walk in.
"Do we know what they're looking for?" Irina asked after taking a seat.
"No. My credentials can only get me so far. Only Jiji and the other members of the Ten know. I'm sorry. That's all I have on the matter," Rikka said. She stood at the head of the table and placed her Armillary Sphere in the small indent. The sphere glowed before projecting a screen in front of them. Each one had a corpse belonging to a different person. All the corpses were maimed beyond recognition and branded with a demonic symbol.
"This first one is the Blacklight Operative," Rikka said, pointing to the picture of a mutilated human body with a black sun logo on his arm. "His name is Melipnos. He is one of the Squad Captains of that Branch's Hunting Division and high ranking member. As of 1800 on December 1, he was found dead in Athens approximately 500 meters from the National Archeological Museum."
"The person who found him was a tourist who then called the cops. We were notified by an informant we have in law enforcement over there," Bova said.
"Wait… near a museum? What's over there that they needed to kill a Blacklight agent over?" Mitsuki asked.
"Nothing of importance. We've confirmed with Hephaestus that all genuine Greek artifacts and weapons were replaced with copies. None of them have the power of the original but…"
"But?" Irina asked.
"Just tell them," Bova said.
"Due to the fact that it was incapable of being handled or even moved, it was kept there," Rikka said.
"What was kept there?" Mitsuki asked.
"Lilith's personal weapon. One of the eleven Divine Keys. Netzach, the Key of Eternity," she answered.
The atmosphere of the room became heavy. Lilith's personal weapon was kept in a museum. And a Divine Key to boot.
"We believe that the Demons are after Lilith's key. For what purpose, I have no idea but the Key has been kept there due to the fact that everyone who's tried to use it has failed to activate it. The previous leader and head of the Research Department both signed off on it as being 'defunct'. The very fact that the Demons are after it means that they have a way of stimulating it." Rikka clicked a button. The screen changed to show a dull grey orb with golden wing-like patterns decorating the translucent pale gem in the middle.
"Is that a…?"
"Yes, that is. That's the Key in its inactive state. According to the Museum logs about this, it was found at the bottom of the Mediterranean in the mid-80s and stored here where Blacklight found out about it," Rikka said. "Hephaestus gave us a rundown of its capabilities. Controlling space-time and gravity itself. In a note here, he added that in Lilith's hands it took the form of a sword."
"So what you're saying is that the Demons are searching for it? Then why attack the Prime Minister?" Ingvild asked.
"The Prime Minister had ties to SEED Corporation. We think that the different factions within Serpent's Seed are targeting those associated with the company," Rikka said.
"There's one thing I don't get," Issei said.
Rikka blinked and nodded for him to continue.
"If they're after the Divine Key, why don't they just break into the museum?" Issei asked.
"It's no longer there. It's being transported to a museum in Saudi Arabia due to its nature. There's Enochian written on it so it's going to be kept in Saudi temporarily before moving to Israel," Rikka said.
"And who's the transport?" Mitsuki asked.
Rikka sighed and clicked to the next slide.
"SEED Corporation offered their services," she answered.
"SEED? Does that really mean that the Demons are at war with each other like all our other intel suggests?" Ingvild asked.
Rikka nodded. "This is what we've gathered so far after interrogating one of their soldiers. Leviathan is scrambling to gain control of the Demons after Lilith's death."
"So wait, remember back in Glendale when we saved Layla, those two devils mentioned a name. Belial. Do you think that he has anything to do with this?" Issei asked.
Rikka placed a hand on her chin. It was certainly plausible. And it matched the other information they extracted from the devil that they captured. However, if it was true that the Demons were having an internal war, the consequences were far-reaching for both mankind and the supernatural. "I don't know much. I wasn't the one interrogating. Selene did the interrogation. But from what was given to the division heads, Belial was a name that was mentioned."
"So why can't we just take advantage of the chaos?" Mitsuki asked.
The others looked at her with slight confusion.
Mitsuki nearly facepalmed. Did these idiots not realize what this meant? "It means that we can take out both Leviathan and Belial while they're busy ripping each other apart."
Rikka slammed her head against the table. How did she not think of that first? Surely, the other Ten would've realized it by now but she berated herself for not realizing that sooner. However, she was aware of one thing that could complicate such a solution. The location. Aside from the small skirmishes across the globe and now this information of a possible SEED corporation attack, the demons were practically untraceable.
"Problem is finding them," Rikka said. "The demons rarely pop up except when attacking. The only time we'll be able to know they're even there is when they attack the SEED Corporation transport for Netzach."
"Then why don't we crash that party then?" Bova asked. "If they're planning to attack something that important, then that means that purple snake fuck must be sending lots of troops to guard the ball."
"Yeah! We could mobilize DxD to take out their top operatives. Something like this has to be big enough that Leviathan sends his strongest demons to defend it from Belial's strongest demons. If we could take out Leviathan's top operatives, we can cripple his faction," Mitsuki said.
"I'll bring this matter up with Grandfather. Let's move on to the next agenda. Ophis."
The room went silent. The topic of Ophis was still up in the air for both Blacklight and the Supernatural Factions. Ophis. The Concept of Chaos and Infinity. The Serpent that divided Heaven and Earth. Her sudden manifestation in the world compounded with her attack on his house and the Underworld had sent waves through the Supernatural World. Factions were shoring their defenses against her. Talks of having Shiva fight her were being put up in the air. There was even talk of convincing Great Red to come and drag her back to the Gap. However, Ophis had manifested on Earth for the second time since the end of the Evil Dragon War. And now she was just wandering. Several sightings of her had been documented across the globe.
Rikka swiped the holographic screen to show a massive globe. "These are all locations that Ophis was last spotted at."
Multiple red X's appeared on the map. "As you can see, a majority of them center around this location."
"That's…" Irina paused after seeing the frequency of Ophis's visits.
"What is it?" Issei asked.
"That's where the Great War ended. The old ruins of Tel Megiddo," Irina said.
"The very same place where the God of the Bible was stated to have died alongside the Archangel Lucifer. Where God was said to have discovered Trihexa and sealed it away before returning to end the war," Rikka said.
Mastema bristled at her statement but kept her feelings hidden. Issei glanced at her, having felt the briefest flash of resentment pulse through him. This was a matter for later. Instead, he focused his attention back on Rikka.
"Ophis has been seen frequenting this area multiple times. The Gods that inhabit that region have been monitoring her and so far, all she does is sit at the ruins and stare at the sky. But we think she's looking for something. As we all reported, the God of the Bible is alive but his location is currently unknown. I think that she's looking for him there," Rikka said.
"Michael-sama and the other Angels are watching that area too. They've diverted a majority of their resources to find the Heavenly Father," Irina said. "There's a chance they might find Him before she does."
"Lady Salem sent word to Lady Sheba to keep an eye on Ophis," Rikka said.
"Wait…" Issei pointed to one of the locations on the globe. "What's wrong with this one?"
"What do you mean?" Rikka asked.
"That X. It says that she arrived in the same place twice at the same time," Issei said.
"It does?" Rikka looked at the globe and analyzed the area closely. It was an old area in Levant where David was stated to have slain Goliath. Not only that, it was the place where one of the most infamous battles of the Great War had taken place and where the Biblical description of Lucifer wiping out a third of the night sky in a single blow was written.
"That's odd. It must be a telemetry error," Rikka said. "But anyways, since the Gremory Peerage and Vali Teams have the greatest rapport with Ophis, the Divine Ten and the Alliance Leaders have decided to send us along with them to interact with Ophis should the need arise. Other than that, we're just strictly observing her."
"The need?" Issei asked.
"Need I remind you of the incident with the Shard Lilith. Humans are asking questions and the influence of the Supernatural doesn't extend beyond the Exosphere of our planet. Anything that happens beyond this planet is beyond them but for humans, we can monitor and that massive crater on the Moon is drawing a lot of attention," Rikka said.
Issei's mouth snapped shut at her words. It was true that their battles were affecting the human world in more ways than one. If they weren't careful, it was only a matter of time before humans started asking questions. And if they were all revealed, there could be a new meaning to the word "Holy War".
"You can see why retaining our anonymity for as long as possible is one of our top priorities. Hundreds, if not thousands, of religions exist out there and if mankind were to discover that their Gods existed, there would be bloodshed on a scale like no other," Rikka said.
"We get it. Keep people out of this." Irina already knew this song and dance. The Church was in a precarious position with its close relationship to humans. Humans who sought power came to them and humans who wished for salvation came to them. There was nothing perfect about it. And all it took was one greedy priest to make it all come crashing down. It was at times like these that she thanked the rise of secularism.
"Good. This is it for today. We'll move out when DxD gets the word to move out," Rikka said.
"Right."
Rikka nodded and turned off her AS. She conjured a magic circle and reached into it, pulling out five phones. Rikka tossed a phone to each of them. "These are backup phones. Use these when you want to contact anyone from our team. These have prepaid sims. If yours runs out of load, go buy some. If you think you've been compromised, destroy the phone. I'm sure you guys have watched lots of spy films or daytime cop dramas to know how these work."
The others inspected their phones while Rikka gave her speech. Mitsuki and Issei narrowed their eyes at how old this phone was. When Rikka said analog, she meant it. This phone was before the era of smartphones but at least it wasn't a brick.
"How long do we need these?" Issei asked.
"The people down in R and D are working on cutting off that AS from the system. We're still tracking it down since its GPS is turned off. So for now, we need to wait until we have some activity from that AS. It's all a waiting game," Rikka answered. "It's getting late. You guys can go home and get ready. We could be deployed at any moment."
Valley of Kings, Luxor, Egypt
A red shadow darted through the cool desert air. She moved with the grace and speed of an experienced thief. She left no trace of herself in the sand, not even a single print. Her target was the Valley of the Kings, or more specifically, the Tomb of Ramesses III. Her sulfuric yellow eyes gazed upon the largest and greatest of the three.
Gremory smiled. Even during the day, there was a chance that she could pull this off. There were no humans in the vicinity and she was confident in her abilities to sneak in to not get noticed by any of the Gods here.
"What luck… to think there was another one we could easily get our hands-on," Gremory said. It was an extra assignment but it was a welcome one. She turned into a funnel of black smoke and flew towards the Tomb, bypassing the site's guards.
She scoffed at the site. In her eyes, the place was far better back in the day. Back when Man and Gods used to live in the same world. Gremory traced her fingers along the aged wall. "Mom lost it after she died but for it to end up here…" Gremory mused absentmindedly. Humans will believe anything. Whoever put it here was must have applied a spell that made humans think it was part of the site and must never be removed.
She sighed as she recanted the location in her mind. The Burial Chamber. The deepest chamber within the entire complex. Gremory kept pushing through the tunnel. After a couple of minutes of walking, Gremory arrived at the Burial Chamber.
"Humans are so vain. I swear some of these pharaohs can give Aphrodite a run for her money," Gremory said, tracing her finger along the wall. A massive monument to their dead body. The very notion seemed vain to her as she gazed upon the place where the Sarcophagus rested. However, she knew that it was still here. The intel would not lie after all. Stepping past the pedestal where the sarcophagus lay, she gazed upon the fenced-off area. There was plexiglass encasing the object of her mission.
A lance stood behind the glass. It was a beautifully designed weapon. It was a union of forces beyond her ken. The weapon was formed by a white outer lance and a black inner lance, creating a spiral that signified the union of Creation and Destruction. It was, for all intents and purposes, the greatest of the Keys.
"Da'at… The Divine Key of Da'at. The Key of Knowledge. Mother's Divine Key," Gremory said breathlessly. She stared at the weapon in awe and placed her hand upon the glass. She grinned. Her eyes glowed as her sclera turned black. A symbol resembling a pointed cross appeared in her eyes. Black and violet mist wafted off her hands as she began to break down the glass.
"You have a lot of balls coming here."
Gremory froze as she whirled around to face the source of the voice. The glass had been partially eaten by her Null. Her eyes widened in slight fear when she saw the figure. Her white scarf and violet shirt blew slightly in the light breeze.
"Ma'at," Gremory said.
Ma'at hovered in midair. Her eyes bore into Gremory's very soul. Her gaze kept her rooted to her spot as the Goddess descended to the floor.
"Taking your mother's weapon for yourself. I expected Lilith to be the one to come here but she's…" Ma'at trailed off. She sighed. A golden staff manifested in her hand as she blocked Gremory's flaming hand.
Gremory's eyes widened. Ma'at had been distracted by her monologue but she blocked her attack without even missing a beat.
"Ha-wi." As soon as Ma'at uttered those words, a massive force slammed into Gremory's torso and sent her flying into the wall. The wall cracked and came crashing down on top of her.
Ma'at stood there, staring at the rubble. Gremory's abilities were familiar to her. The Axial Gaze and the Empress Gaze. Two extremely annoying abilities that made her hard to kill. Sandalphon had only put her down by slashing her eyes but now, Gremory had her eyes once more.
Ma'at turned on her feet and raised her hand. An invisible force slammed into Gremory once more and sent her flying. Her left eye glowed as the force hit her. She swapped places with a piece of rubble.
She appeared behind Gremory. Her hand was coated in demonic energy and moved to impale her in the back, intending to sever her spine. But Ma'at moved faster than Gremory expected. She quickly turned and grabbed Gremory's wrist.
"You are centuries too early to even dream of landing a hit on me," Ma'at said. Her grip tightened. Gremory winced at the increasing pain. All she needed was one moment. One moment to get to her goal. A fight with Ma'at was not something she intended on doing. Gremory's eyes glowed as black smoke began wafting off her skin.
Ma'at looked down and saw the black smoke eating away at her hand slowly. She let go of the Demon. Gremory jumped back upon release, rubbing her pained wrist.
Ma'at took a step towards her. Gremory's eyes glowed brightly. "Null: Will-o-Wisp!"
Ma'at was engulfed in a swirl of black and violet mist. The mist intensified as Gremory moved for the lance. She knew that her attack would have very little effect on the Goddess regarded as the Strongest Goddess in Egypt. It was so close. Just a moment. She reached out to grab the handle of the Lance.
Her brief moment was just that, however. A moment. Not even a second after Ma'at was engulfed in black mist, the mist was dispersed harmlessly. She held her hand out and froze Gremory mid-sprint. She waved her hand and threw Gremory through the ceiling.
The necropolis shook as Gremory burst from the tomb and into the air. Gremory's vision swam as she shook her head to regain her bearings. Her wings unfurled as she righted herself in midair. Her body shook as she felt a massive wave of energy approaching her.
Ma'at burst from the dust and flew towards Gremory. She appeared in front of the demon. Ma'at threw a quick jab, hitting Gremory in the face and sending her crashing into the sand.
"Give up, Gremory. I don't want to kill my best friend's daughter," Ma'at said as she hovered over the sand.
Her eyes darted around her surroundings, searching for her. Her senses went haywire as she turned around and raised her staff. Her eyes widened when she saw who it was. Pushing against her staff with a blade in his hand, Belial jumped back after a few seconds and hovered a few feet from her.
"Gremory! Retrieve the Key now!" Belial said.
Gremory burst from the sand and nodded.
"Not if I have anything to do about-!" she never finished her sentence as she narrowly avoided a blast of fire from Belial. Taking advantage of her brief distraction, Gremory flew off towards the tomb.
"Tch!" Ma'at flew towards Belial at high speeds. Belial had no time to react as he was clotheslined by the Goddess. Belial was blown away, flying at high speeds, and crashed into a nearby rock formation. He groaned in pain as he got up.
Belial growled and took off, kicking off a literal ton of sand in his liftoff. He became a silver comet that crashed into Ma'at. Ma'at raised her hand and stopped Belial's attack, catching his fist with one hand. A massive shockwave emanated from them and washed over the sand, creating a small sandstorm.
Ma'at said nothing as she threw him to the side, sending him crashing into the sand.
"It's too late," Belial said, shakily getting up from his spot. Ma'at's eyes narrowed before widening in horror. In that brief moment, she had forgotten about Gremory. She gritted her teeth and flew at high speed towards the tomb.
Ma'at landed violently in the burial chamber, shaking the whole necropolis. Gremory stood there, gripping the Divine Key.
"GREMORY!"
The Devil turned around at the mention of her name and smiled. As Ma'at's hand reached out to grab her throat, she vanished, swapping places with another piece of rubble.
Ma'at turned and saw Gremory with the Divine Key, waving goodbye at her as a red magic circle appeared and swallowed her whole.
I haven't updated this fic in so long. It has been a while.
