![]() Author has written 3 stories for Teen Titans, and Evangelion. Let's see... My real name is Daniel Nix. (Daniel John Nix for full.)(Nixy is my nickname) I'm male. Date Of Birth: 14/08/88 (14th August, 1988)My favourite genres of music are Rock and Metal. I'm considered weird by most of my friends. Fav Quote: I reject your reality and substitute my own. I'm sure you don't want to hear my life story so I'll leave it at that. Updated January 27th, 2008: Okay, for those of you who were reading my Naruto fanfic and are wondering where it's gone... I've deleted it. Completely. There are two main reasons and I shall list them: 1) For months now I've long since lost a lot of interest in Naruto. I've completely stopped watching the Anime, and I'm really only reading the manga to see how it all ends - if it ever ends. As such I've long since lost all enthusiasm for writing that particular fanfiction. 2) Time: Being at University completely chews up my time now, and with three fanfics in between many other things such as my drawing, my new little hobbie of making AMV's in my spare time, and the most pressing concern being essays and exam revision, I decided that I needed to lessen my fanfic work load. As such, I chose the fic I had the least enthusiasm for. I am well aware that I said I intended to finish all the fanfics I do, and that I did indeed say that about my Naruto fic. All I can do apologise. (Let it be known that I will not tolerate abusive comments or e-mails, one of which I once got because I hadn't updated the said Naruto fic in a long time.) The simple fact is that I have a real life that I need to focus on right now, and my reasons that I've stated above are all that I can say. Current fanfiction: Make Up Your Mind: Teen Titans - A story that continues after Season 5, and intends to take a deeper look into the psyche - and of the human psyche - of some of the characters, and the problems they face in the world and with themselves. Terra being one of the main focuses for that. I also want to focus on the relationship between Beast Boy and Terra. We all know it's rocky - no pun intended - and I want to portray that, as well as other relationships. Hope That Guides Us, Pain That Binds Us: Neon Genesis Evangelion - Put simply, many fanfics I've read of this bit of the timeline - specifically after Episode 26/End of Evangelion - that always make the characters seem more or less at peace, (not all do, but many of them), and I don't believe that's possible. It just doesn't feel quite right. After all, Third Impact, and all events leading up to it in End Of Evangelion, are traumatic for all nearly all parties involved. (I mean let's face it; Asuka was mutilated for Christ's sake! Eaten!! ... in a sense.) This fic intends to take a look at the psychological impact of Third Impact and all events leading up to it, and how it has affected the characters and their relationships to the one another; and how they will progress and grow from Instrumentality. I'm a huge sucker for romance, so most, if not all of my fanfics will most likely be romantic as one of their genres. I want to try to make my fics a little more than just 'romantic novels.' I honestly don't know if my portrayal of such things is real - after all, I am but a lonely writer of fanfiction who yearns for such things - but I hope it is a fairly accurate portrayal of real life. My stories are also quite character driven and mixes that in with the plot - in other words, the characters help to drive the story along as well as the events of the world. Having been a Film Studies student in college in 2004-6, we took a look at purely character driven movies - 'Festen' and 'Chungking Express' as examples - and I loved them, since the characters were deeper and more complex, (in the case of Festen), or much more mysterious and ambiguous, making them more intriguing, (in the case of Chungking Express). I like to focus on the characters as much as possible while still providing a good plot to help drive a good story. Oh, if there is one thing I'm not too keen on, it's summaries for stories that give away the pairing(s). In a way, it spoils (a bit) what could be a great story in some ways, because you've already given much of it away, so the tension and possibilities that the mind can think up are taken away somewhat. I'm okay with it, don't get me wrong, but I tend to find those kind of stories less engaging unless they are very well written. I hope that you all like the stories I write. I don't tend to plan these things totally. I make a vague plan in my head, and write as I go along. (I'm an improvisational worker). I find it much easier than planning everything out first, plus I think it allows for more flexibility in the writing. So, as I said above, I hope you enjoy all the stuff that you read from me, and remember that reviews, signed or anonymous, are always appreciated. (I'm not going to beg, so take that!) |
