Chapter 3: The Green Goblin Strikes!

Following his defeat to Red, one of the other teenagers that had received a Pokemon from Professor Oak, Ash Ketchum had made his way to the next stop on his Pokemon journey, Viridian City, so that he could heal up his fire-type starter Pokemon, Scorbunny, who was severely hurt during its battle with Red and couldn't walk outside of its Pokeball due to the damage it had sustained during the fight.

As usual, he was accompanied by Professor Oak's assistant, Peter Parker, who was equally as excited to make it to Viridian City as Ash was because of the fact that, in the Kanto Region, he had only ever been to Pallet Town.

By the time the duo made it to Viridian, the sun was setting. Ash felt his breath get taken away as he looked around at the larger then life buildings, and the huge amounts of people and Pokemon that walked through the streets.

This was actually the first time that Ash had been to another human settlement as the boy had never actually left Pallet Town for his life and, considering Pallet Town was a pretty small and quiet place, coming to a city of this size was obviously quite shocking to the young thirteen-year old!

Peter smiled as he looked around, taking in the sights. He used to live in a large city back in the Unova Region, where he was originally from, so finally being able to be in a big city again was a pretty nice feeling for him.

"So, what do you wanna do first?" Peter asked Ash with a smile. "I know you've never actually been to a city before..."

Ash blinked twice before grinning from ear to ear at his older friend. "Well, first I obviously need to get Scorbunny healed up! After that, we're gonna explore the entire city!"

This answer caused Peter to smirk. "Well, Ash, do you know where the Pokemon center is?"

The raven-haired boy blinked twice before scratching his cheek sheepishly. "N-No, I don't...Could you show me where it is?"

"Well, if it was any other building, I wouldn't be able to, considering how I'm also new to this city," Professor Oak's assistant replied. "HOWEVER, since the Pokemon Center is a special building that exists in almost every city across the world, we can easily find it by looking for a red roof!"

Ash quickly nodded and grinned. "Alright, then. Let's go find that red roof!"

And so, the pair proceeded to take a casual stroll through the city in an attempt to find the Pokemon Center, Ash took the opportunity to look around at the surrounding area. The buildings in the city were pretty big, but they still had a homey feeling to them.

The air felt nice, and everywhere the raven-haired boy looked he could see people and Pokemon living together in harmony. It made him quite happy. Peter, too, was enjoying Viridian City.

Eventually, the duo made it to the Pokemon Center.

It was a pretty large building that was painted white in color. It had a large red roof, and the words 'POKEMON CENTER' were prominently displayed on the front of the building. It also had a certain futuristic vibe to it.

"Wow, so this is the Pokemon Center?" Ash asked with a grin as he looked up. "It's so large!..."

Peter grinned and nodded. "Yeah. Let's head inside."

The pair of friends entered the building that was created for the purpose of healing Pokemon. There was a pretty large lobby where many trainers and their Pokemon were just hanging around, sitting on benches and couches that were strewn across the area. It was pretty cozy. At the far end of the room there was a counter with a woman standing behind it.

She was wearing a Mexican-pink colored dress with a white nurse apron, and flat Mary Jane shoes. She had blue eyes, a nice smile, and bright pink hair, which was done in an odd hair-style. She was wearing a nurse's hat on the top of her head. Standing next to her was a very happy-looking Chansey.

Chansey was a pink, ovoid Pokemon with stubby arms and dark pink feet. It had tiny eyes and three hair-like growths on each side of its head. The tufts of hair had dark pink tips. On the center of its belly was a dark pink pouch that contained a single white egg. It also had an extremely short tail. This particular Chansey was also wearing a nurse's hat on the top of its head, similar to the woman it was standing next to.

"That's Nurse Joy, and next to her is her assistant Chansey," Peter explained to Ash. "They'll heal up your Pokemon, and completely for free too! Because of that, you should never be afraid to come to a Pokemon Center."

"Cool..." Ash stated in awe under his breath, particularly surprised Nurse Joy and the people who worked at the Pokemon Center would heal Pokemon for free.

"Hello there, and welcome to the Pokemon Center!" the woman, called Nurse Joy by Peter, happily exclaimed. "Here we restore your Pokemon to full health. Would you like us to heal your Pokemon?"

Ash blinked twice before grinning and producing the Pokeball that contained Scorbunny and placed it on the counter that the Pokemon Nurse was standing behind. "Yes please, Miss. My Scorbunny needs to be healed!"

Nurse Joy smiled warmly and picked up the Pokeball, handing it to her partner Chansey, who promptly placed it on a tray.

"Don't worry about a thing. Your partner will be in tip-top shape in no time!" Nurse Joy told Ash before she and Chansey entered a backroom in the Pokemon Centre, which Ash assumed was where they were going to heal up his fire-type partner.

"So now we wait?" Ash asked Peter, who nodded in the affirmative.

"Yup! Don't worry, though. Scorbunny didn't suffer any major damage, so they should be able to heal him up fairly quickly," Peter assured his friend. "In the meantime, why don't you use one of the video machines in the corner to call your mom? She'd be pretty happy to hear about how quickly you made it to Viridian!"

Ash grinned and nodded. "Yeah, sure. I'll do that!"

The raven-haired boy ran off to one of the video machines in the corner of the lobby and proceeded to call his mother. Seeing as to how there was nothing better to do, Peter decided to take out his journal and start writing his first report regarding Scorbunny's Hidden Ability, Libero, and how it acted in battle.

He found a nice bench, which was thankfully free from any other trainers or Pokemon, and began to write his report...

"Thank you for coming to the Pokemon Center. Your Pokemon have been all healed up. We hope to see you again!" Nurse Joy told Ash with her iconic and friendly smile as she handed Ash his Pokeball. It was now night time.

"Thanks, Nurse Joy!" the wannabe Pokemon Master exclaimed as he took Scorbunny's Pokeball from the Pokemon Nurse. He then proceeded to turn around and throw the Pokeball. "Come on out, Scorbunny!"

Ash's partner immediately materialized in front of him. Scorbunny was refreshed and raring to go!

"Scorbunny!" the fire-type exclaimed happily.

Ash bent down to his starter and grinned at him. "Hey Scorbunny! I'm sorry that you got hurt after that battle...But I promise that we're going to get stronger together! What do you say?"

Scorbunny grinned in response to its trainer's words and hopped excitedly. "Scor bun bun!"

As Ash got up, Peter walked towards the trainer and Pokemon with a smile. "It's good to see that Scorbunny's feeling better. What do you wanna do now?"

"Well, like I said earlier today, I'm probably going to explore the city, then do a little bit of training with Scorbunny against the wild Pokemon back on Route 1!" Ash happily told Professor Oak's assistant. "After that, we're going to challenge the Pokemon Gym right here in Viridian City!"

"Pokemon Gym?" Peter asked, raising an eyebrow. "You mean you're taking part in THE Gym Challenge?! I didn't know you were taking part!..."

"Well of course I am!" Ash exclaimed, grinning from ear to ear. "Why else would I want to go on a Pokemon journey? Hehe..."

"Hm, makes sense, I guess," Peter replied with a chuckle. "The Gym Challenge is a special challenge that trainers can take part in. In it, they have to challenge 8 different Pokemon 'Gym Leaders', who each specialize in a different type of Pokemon. When you defeat them, you obtain a badge, and once you obtain 8 badges, you'll be able to enter the Pokemon League, a tournament where the best trainers in the Region battle it out to be deemed the strongest...I wonder if Ash has what it takes..."

"Oh, are you planning on challenging the Viridian City gym?" Nurse Joy asked, cutting into the pair's conversation.

"Uh, yeah, I am," Ash responded to Nurse Joy, confused as to why she would ask such a thing.

"Well, I regret to inform you that the Viridian City Gym Leader is currently away, and because of that, the gym is closed," the pink-haired Pokemon nurse explained. "Nobody knows when he'll be back..."

"What?! Oh man, that sucks!" Ash groaned irritably. "Now what am I supposed to do?..."

"Scorbunny!" Ash's fire-type partner exclaimed as it crossed it's small arms. Just like Ash, Scorbunny was pretty disappointed that it couldn't participate in some action-packed battles.

"O-Oh, well, until the Gym Leader returns, you could always battle the Gym Leaders from the other cities..." Nurse Joy stated in an apologetic tone, though she was slightly amused by Ash and Scorbunny's behavior. However, the smile that she had on her face that was present before quickly returned as she continued. "However, if you guys don't have anything better to do, you could attend the World Science Expo that's going to take place in a few hours."

"World Science Expo?" Ash and Peter, who were both quite intrigued by what Nurse Joy had to say, asked in unison. "What's that?"

"Well, The World Science Expo is an event that is held right here in Viridian City ever five years," Nurse Joy explained to the two of them. "During the event, some of the world's greatest minds come together to this very city and show off their newest inventions! Most of these inventions are useful to Pokemon Trainers, and can be used during battles! The inventions can range from anything from a brand new version of a Pokeball, to something grander like a jetpack that could be used by trainers to chase after flying-type Pokemon!"

"Wow! That sounds so cool!" Peter exclaimed, showing a very childish behavior that we had only seen from Ash so far. The reason behind this was that the assistant of the great Professor Oak was a VERY big fan of anything related to science. "We will TOTALLY attend it! Right, Ash?"

"Well, I guess we could attend..." Ash muttered before grinning. "It would be kina fun to see all the different inventions, I suppose!"

Nurse joy nodded and gave the pair a respectful bow. "I know it will be! Have a nice day!"

"Alright, thanks, Nurse Joy!" Ash exclaimed before turning around, his loyal partner Scorbunny walking alongside him at his feet. "Hey Peter, do you think-"

Ash immediately stopped talking as he realized that his friend was completely absent-minded as he was thinking about the upcoming Science event that they were going to attend. He had stars in his eyes.

"Remind me not to talk to you about science ever again..." Ash bitterly muttered comedically, though Peter still didn't notice due to his daydreaming.

"Scorbunny..." the fire-type starter muttered to itself.

However, as the pair reached the doors to exit the Pokemon Center...

…The electricity went out, causing darkness to encompass the entirety of the Pokemon Center!

"Huh? What's going on?" Peter asked, shaking his head as he stopped daydreaming to notice the darkness that had consumed the building. "Who turned out the lights?..."

Ash tried to open up the door, but since it was an automatic door that required electricity, Ash, Peter, and Scorbunny were effectively trapped within the Pokemon Center!

"Huh? What's going on?!" Ash exclaimed.

At this point, many of the trainers that were in the Pokemon Center, along with their Pokemon, were quite worried and many of them were asking multiple questions to each other. Many of them were also using their electric and fire type Pokemon to try and light up the room so that they could see, but it was still pretty dark.

Thankfully, Nurse Joy was able to calm them all down.

"It seems that there has been a power outage!" the Pokemon nurse exclaimed. "Please remain calm while our technicians try to fix it..."

"Huh, that's weird..." Ash muttered as he noticed some technicians rush into the backroom with toolboxes in their hands. "I hope they can fix it soon! We're practically trapped inside the Pokemon Center..."

A few minutes passed, and the lights electricity still hadn't returned. Something was up.

"Hm...What's going on here?..." Professor Oak's assistant thought to himself.

Suddenly, Peter felt a ringing in his head. It was his Spider-Sense, a special ability that he had that warned him of incoming danger! But then that would mean...

Almost on cue, a bomb went off, shattering the large windows on the walls of the Pokemon Center. Dust rose into the air, and multiple people dressed up in similar looking uniforms entered, alongside many different Pokemon that all looked pretty menacing. There were at least fifty of these people, and the amount of Pokemon they had with them was uncountable. This startled many of the trainers that were present.

"What's going on here?!" Peter exclaimed, shocked by the crazy entrance of the strangers. He squinted his eyes to try and see who the people were, but the dust was too thick, and he could only see there silhouettes.

The people, alongside their menacing Pokemon, made their way to the center of the lobby, though the dust was still up in the air.

Finally, a person whose silhouette looked substantially different entered. Peter couldn't really see him properly, but he did know that whoever this person was, he was riding on some sort of bat-themed hoverboard.

When the dust began to settle, the intruders were finally visible for everyone to see.

The fifty invaders consisted of men and women wearing black uniforms with a massive red 'R' on them. They were all also wearing grey gloves and boots, as well as black caps that matched their black uniforms. Some of them were holding net guns.

The Pokemon that accompanied them included poison types like Arbok, Koffing, and Zubat, as well as normal-types like Rattata.

Arbok was a serpentine Pokémon that resembled a cobra. It had narrow eyes and several sharp teeth. Just below its head was a large hood with a face-like pattern. The pattern consisted of two red and yellow eyespots outlined in black, a wide black streak resembling an upturned mouth, and a black V-shaped stripe above the eyespots.

Koffing was a spherical Pokémon filled with toxic gases. It had vacant eyes and a wide mouth that had two pointed teeth in the upper jaw. Below its face was a cream-colored skull-and-crossbones marking. Several geyser-like protrusions, which released a mustard-colored gas, covered this Pokémon's body.

In the middle of them all, however, was quite possibly the most menacing of the strange invaders.

He wore an outfit that resembled a goblin's, but the green skin seemed to be made of metal like some sort of armor. He was also wearing a purple tunic with brown shoulder pads, and had a matching brown satchel. Furthermore, he was wearing a scary-looking mask, which was accompanied by a purple goblin hat. His eyes were pupil-less yellow orbs and made the scary man even scarier. As previously mentioned, he was standing on top of a bat-themed glider and, lastly, he had a big letter 'R' on his chest, similar to the people who had accompanied him. He looked like a goblin!

The Pokemon trainers that were present all began murmuring among themselves, wondering who these strange people were.

"Who ARE those guys?..." Ash thought to himself out loud. "Maybe some kind of performers? They're all wearing similar outfits..."

"Scor?" Ash's fire-type partner asked, tilting its head to the side.

However, Peter simply narrowed his eyes. "I saw those guys on the news before! They're..."

"Attention Pokemon trainers!" the goblin-looking man on the glider, who appeared to be the leader of the group, exclaimed, catching everyone's attention. "I am the GREEN GOBLIN, an Admin of TEAM ROCKET! Surrender your Pokemon to us, or we'll have to take them by force!"

The mask that the man was wearing contorted to a vicious grin, scaring multiple people. It was pretty freaky to see a mask look so...Alive!

"Just kidding. We're going to take them by force anyways. Let 'er rip, grunts!" the Green Goblin commanded, immediately earning nods from the other members of this 'Team Rocket' that the Green Goblin claimed to be an admin of.

Immediately, the people holding the net guns began firing them at the Pokemon that were currently outside of their Pokeballs, effectively capturing them. This caused some trainers to return their Pokemon to their Pokeballs and attempt a getaway, but the other grunts, who didn't have net guns, began using their Pokemon to attack these trainers.

"Oh dear!" Nurse Joy exclaimed as she hid under a desk and dialed 911, hoping that the authorities could get there in time before any serious damage could be done.

One of the grunts attempted to shoot a net at Scorbunny, but Ash's partner was quick to shoot an Ember attack at the net, singing it and making it useless before it could capture the rabbit Pokemon.

"Wh-Who are these guys?!" Ash exclaimed fearfully as he, alongside Scorbunny, involuntarily took a step back. "They're stealing everyone's Pokemon!..."

"They're called Team Rocket!" Peter told Ash. "I saw them on the news! They're an organized group of criminals who steal Pokemon and sell them on the Black Market to make a profit! They must've attacked this place hoping to steal some of the Pokemon owned by these innocent trainers!"

"W-Well, if that's the case, we should get outta here just like everyone else!" Ash exclaimed, taking notice of the fact that many of the trainers were attempting to make a run for it. "Let's go!"

Although reluctantly, Peter nodded in agreement. He wanted to hide away and get into his Spider-Man costume to fight off these guys, especially the 'Green Goblin' person considering how he seemed to be the boss of them, but for now he assumed that his best course of action would be to run, since he didn't have an opportunity to change into his costume without being seen.

Thankfully, however, an opportunity pretty much immediately showed up.

"You're not going anywhere, little boy!" a woman exclaimed, catching the attention of Peter, Ash, and Scorbunny.

The trio turned around to see a woman with long magenta hair and a man with purple hair. The man and the woman were dressed up in black outfits similar to the other grunts led by the mysterious 'Green Goblin', but the woman's outfit was a bit different compared the to the other female grunts. Furthermore, the man was holding a rose.

They also had a Pokemon called Meowth with him them.

Meowth was a small, feline Pokémon with cream-colored fur that turned brown at the tips of its hind paws and tail. Its ovoid head featured four prominent whiskers, wide eyes with slit pupils, two pointed teeth in the upper jaw, and a gold koban coin embedded in its forehead. Its ears were black with brown interiors and were flanked with an additional pair of long whiskers. Strangely enough, this Meowth was standing on two feet like a human being!

"Who are these guys?" Ash muttered angrily, to which the male grunt simply grinned. "They have a Meowth, too..."

"Hahaha! When you ask 'Who are these guys?' to yourself..." the woman started.

"We'll answer out of sympathy for the world!" the man finished, before the two began posing randomly and singing some sort of motto.

"To protect the world from devastation!" the woman exclaimed.

The purple-haired man grinned and recited the next verse. "To unite all people within our nation!"

"To denounce the evils of truth and-" the woman started, but was cut off by her menacing boss, the Green Goblin.

"Idiots! I told you not to do that stupid little motto!" the goblin-armored villain barked. "Just capture Pokemon! That's all you're supposed to do!"

"Y-Yes sir!" the man and the woman immediately exclaimed in unison, giving multiple bows at the scary villain before turning back to our heroes.

"S-Since we can't do our motto, I suppose we'll just introduce ourselves!" the man exclaimed to Peter, Ash, and Scorbunny as he took a Pokeball from his waist. "My name's James, this is my partner, Koffing!"

James immediately threw the Pokeball, causing a Koffing to materialize in the area.

"Kof Koffing!"

"And I'm Jessie, and this is my partner, Ekans!" the woman exclaimed as well, introducing herself before releasing her Pokemon as well. "Though I suppose introducing ourselves will be useless, since we'll be taking your Pokemon now!"

A Pokemon called Ekans, which was the pre-evolution to Arbok, materialized in the area as well.

"Ekans Ek!"

Ekans was a purple, serpentine Pokémon. Its eyes, underbelly, the thick stripe around its neck, and rattle were all yellow. Ekans had three pairs of black lines encircling its body, as well as another line that connected to each slit-pupiled eye and curved toward its nose. Its large mouth had a round, pink tongue and no visible teeth.

"I'm guessing you guys are also Team Rocket members?" Ash asked, still quite a bit angry.

"Wow, you're a smart kid, meow," the Meowth stated sarcastically, surprising everyone present that wasn't part of Team Rocket with its ability to speak. "What gave it away, the fact that these two have a big red 'R' on their outfits or the fact that we showed up alongside the other members of Team Rocket?"

"Y-You can talk?!" Ash and Peter exclaimed in unison, with Scorbunny being quite surprised as well.

"Yeah, yeah, get used to it, meow," Meowth replied before licking its paw. "Let's just get this started with! Hand over your Pokemon to us right MEOW!"

"No way! Scorbunny, let's show these three!" Ash exclaimed before pointing at the villains. "Scorbunny, I choose you!"

"Scor Scor!" the fire-type exclaimed energetically as it hopped in front of Ash, ready to battle the evil-doers.

"Humph, fine. Be stubborn," James stated with a smirk. "Koffing! Use Smog!"

"Kof...FING!" James' Pokemon exclaimed it a thick smoke began to protrude out of its body, filling up the area.

"Ahaha! Now's the perfect chance to steal that Pokemon of yours!" Jessie exclaimed before commanding her Ekans. "Ekans! Use WRAP!"

The snake Pokemon proceeded to promptly wrap itself around Scorbunny's body, stopping it from moving at all. Scorbunny didn't expect this since the little fire-type Pokemon couldn't see anything!

"Now, use Bite!" Jessie shouted to her Pokemon, who promptly bit into Scorbunny's neck, causing Ash's partner to scream in pain.

"SCORBUNNY!"

"Huh?! What's going on?!" Ash coughed as he squinted in an attempt to see what was going on. "I can't see a thing!..."

"Scorbunny's in trouble! And this Smog...It's giving me the perfect opportunity to get into my Spider-Man costume!" Peter thought to himself, a hand above his mouth and nose so that he wouldn't inhale the toxic fumes. "I'll be right back!..."

Finally, when the smog settled, Ash was completely surprised to not only see Scorbunny in a cage, but that cage was being held by Jessie!

"H-Hey!" Ash angrily exclaimed, ignoring the fact that pretty much all of the trainers except for him had made their getaway. "Give Scorbunny back!"

"Scor...Scorbunny!" the fire-type called out to its trainer fearfully. It was obvious that it had taken a lot of damage from Ekans' attacks.

"Ahaha!" Jessie laughed before tapping the cage that she and her partner James had trapped the Pokemon in. "I've never seen a Pokemon like this before! Do you think it's not from around here, James?"

"Hohohoho!" James chuckled. "It must be so! We've struck a goldmine, and are surely going to get it good with the boss! Ahahaha!"

"Actually..." the Green Goblin started before snatching the cage from the magenta-haired woman, startling her. The Green Goblin held it with one hand, inspecting it. "...Anything you grunts catch under my leadership counts as MY steal! So the boss is going to pay ME really well for this exotic Pokemon from another Region! Ahahaha!"

"B-But that's not fair, meow!" Meowth exclaimed. "We snagged that Pokemon fair and square!"

The Green Goblin, who was speaking while inspecting the cage, turned his head and glared at the cat Pokemon. "Meowth...Do you wanna know HOW and WHY I was able to progress through the ranks of Team Rocket so easily?"

Meowth immediately gulped, realizing that he had gone against the man who was leading him. Jessie and James were both staring at the talking Pokemon in a mixture of disbelief and fear. "U-Uh...We...Uh..."

"It was my ability...TO KILL PEOPLE WITHOUT HESITATION!" The Green Goblin screamed as he took a 'Pumpkin-Bomb' from his belt and prepared to toss it at Meowth, who looked on fearfully.

A Pumpkin-Bomb was essentially just a regular old grenade in the style of a pumpkin. The reason for the pumpkin design was so that it could fit with the Green Goblin's outfit.

Anyways, right before the villainous bastard could blow Meowth up to bits and pieces using his device, a single strand of a spider web descended from the roof! It attached itself to the bomb, and the bomb was then tossed to the corner of the room by said web, where it promptly exploded.

Everyone present, including Ash and Scorbunny, looked up in confusion to see who or what had done that...

…And imagine their surprise when they saw the Amazing Spider-Man hanging around on the roof!

"Y'know, it's not very nice to attack your own teammates," the wall-crawler told the Green Goblin as he jumped onto the ground before pointing at the villains. "Now, before this gets ugly, how about you return all the Pokemon you stole, alright?"

The room became silent as everyone stared at Spider-Man in confusion...

…Before the Team Rocket members burst out into laughter!

"Heh, listen, kid. We don't need your nosy little butt intervening. The adults are doing some pretty important business here!" The Green Goblin exclaimed. "Now, go play superhero somewhere else, unless you wanna go KA-BOOM!"

"Eh, I'll pass," Spider-Man replied before shooting a spider web at a net gun in a nearby grunt's arms, startling the grunt. He then pulled it over to himself and aimed it at a few nearby grunts. "Now let's see...How do I- Woah!"

The superhero in red and blue accidentally shot a large net at every single grunt, excluding Jessie, James, and Meowth, along with all of their Pokemon. They were trapped tightly and couldn't move!

"Well, I didn't mean to do that, but it works for me!" the teenage superhero exclaimed as he threw the gun behind himself. He then smirked underneath his mask at The Green Goblin. "Well, Gobby. Let's dance!"

The Green Goblin scowled at Spider-Man for a moment, unsure of what to think of the situation. All of his useful grunts had been defeated in the span of a few seconds. However, his mask slowly contorted to a vicious grin, similar to the one he was wearing before.

"Sure, I'm game," the vicious villain stated as he dropped Scorbunny's cage onto the ground. "Though I'd like to actually know the NAME of my dance partner, if you know what I'm saying."

"Spider-Man," the superhero replied as he cracked his neck and knuckles before taking a few steps towards the villain. "Let's do this!"

The wallcrawler ran towards the Green Goblin, who in turn zoomed towards him, riding atop his bat-themed glider.

Spidey shot a web at his villainous opponent from his arm, and pulled his arm back, causing the Green Goblin to fall from his glider.

"AGH!" the villain exclaimed as he crashed onto the ground.

"That'll put us on equal footing," Spider-Man told the Green Goblin as he let go of the web and dusted his hands. "Not really fair that you get to ride on a glider and I have to-"

Ignoring his excessive talking, the goblin-themed villain threw a punch at his foe, his large armored fist crashing directly into Spider-Man's jaw.

The hero staggered back, and the Goblin continued his assault by lifting his beefy leg and kicking the teenage hero in the stomach, knocking the wind out of him.

Spidey was sent flying into a nearby wall, crashing into it and creating a large hole.

"Y-You're...You're a lot stronger than I thought you'd be..." Spider-Man told his opponent as he slowly got up to his feet. "I didn't think he'd be THIS strong!... Though I guess it makes sense as to why I'm struggling... So far I've only ever fought with common criminals... This is my first super-villain!..."

"You talked a lot of smack for a kid who can barely hold himself in a fight," the Green Goblin told the hero as he grabbed Spider-Man by the throat and lifted him into the air. "It's a shame you had to fight an ADMIN OF TEAM ROCKET!"

"Y-Yeah...You're right..." Spider-Man told his opponent as he slowly reached for a Pokeball that was located on his waist. "I don't even know how I was going to beat you alone..."

"Any last words, Spider-KID?" the Green Goblin viciously asked as he slowly put more force around Peter's neck. Unbeknownst to the villain, however, Spidey had secretly released his partner Joltik from its Pokeball, and was planning an attack.

"Yeah, just a few..." Spider-Man stated as his opponent pulled his free arm back. "Joltik, use THUNDERSHOCK!"

"What?!" the Green Goblin immediately asked, surprised by this sudden outburst. Before the villain even knew what was happening, Spider-Man's tiny partner Pokemon crawled onto the Green Goblin's back and shocked him!

"Agh!" the villain exclaimed as he staggered back, electricity coursing through his veins.

Joltik hopped off of the villain and scurried over to its trainer, who was laying on the ground due to the fact that The Green Goblin had dropped him after he was shocked by Joltik.

"Joltik Jolt?" the little Pokemon worriedly asked its trainer, who simply chuckled in response.

"Don't worry about me, buddy," the hero told his partner Pokemon as he slowly stood up, ready to get back into the fight. "Now I know just how to fight!"

"Joltik!" the Pokemon happily exclaimed, glad that its trainer was okay.

"Alright, buddy, return," Peter instructed as he brought his partner back into its Pokeball before glaring at the Green Goblin. "Ready for Round 2, Gobby?!"

"That was a cheap shot," the villain angrily responded, ignoring Peter's little quip. His cocky behavior was now replaced with an angry look. "LET'S FINISH THIS!"

As the superhero and supervillain clashed, Ash, along with the trio of Jessie, James, and Meowth, could only watch on in awe at the amazing display of power that was being shown by the two superhumans.

"Man, I'm kinda glad that I didn't run away! I would have missed this fight if I did!" Ash mentally exclaimed as he watched in disbelief. "And here I thought only Pokemon could do battles!..."

"Scor Scor!"

Ash turned around to see that the cage that his partner was being held in was unattended to, and a grin spread across his face as the raven-haired boy decided to rescue his rabbit.

"I'm coming, Scorbunny!" Ash exclaimed as he dashed towards his partner who was being held captive.

Jessie, James, and Meowth, who were hilariously incompetent compared to the other grunts, failed to even notice Ash, who was now opening the cage.

"I feel like we're forgetting something," Jessie told her incompetent friends, who nodded in agreement.

"Indeed! I can't remember exactly, but I feel that it was incredibly important," James replied, showing off his incompetence in a similar way that Jessie did. "Something about Pokemon..."

"But what could it be, Meow?" Meowth asked his friends.

The trio all put their hands to their chins and thought long and hard. Meanwhile, as they were doing this, Ash had successfully managed to free Scorbunny!

Their comedic thinking was cut off by one of the female grunts who was in captured in a net, who yelled at them angrily. "You morons! The Pokemon that you caught!"

Jessie, James, and Meowth immediately turned around in alarm as they realized that the Scorbunny they captured was unattended!

Unfortunately for them, however, Ash had freed it and was now glaring at them with a smirk!

"This time we're ready for your dirty tricks, Team Rocket!" the raven-haired boy exclaimed. "It's time for a Round 2!"

"Grrr! How dare you!" James shouted confidently. "Koffing, use Self-Destruct! Sure, you'll explode, but it's your most powerful attack!"

"Koffing Kof!" the Pokemon exclaimed before its body began to glow. The Pokemon was getting ready to use its destructive and most powerful attack!

"James! That was a terrible idea, meow!" Meowth exclaimed. "We're still here, and Koffing's about to blow up! We've got nowhere to run or hide, meow!"

James blinked twice, immediately realizing his mistake.

"W-Wait, Koffing! Don't explode!" James exclaimed worriedly. "That was a bad command!"

However, it was too late, and Koffing was glowing brighter and brighter, until...

…Koffing exploded in a brilliant display of white light, pretty much destroying the entire building! Not only that, but the Rocket grunts who were trapped in the net were comedically launched into the sky, disappearing along the horizon!

The Green Goblin, who was still fighting with Spider-Man, noticed that this had happened but didn't scold Jessie, James, or Meowth because he was still busy fighting.

Nurse Joy, who was the only other person that was still there, watched in disbelief as the entirety of the Pokemon Center blew away. Comedically, the desk she was hiding behind hadn't moved a bit, though.

"James you moron!" Jessie angrily exclaimed, slapping her partner in the back of his head. "Now we're DEFINITELY going to get in trouble for our incompetence!..."

"Wow, Scorbunny...That was...Insane..." Ash muttered before looking down at his Pokemon. "Are you alright, pal?"

The fire-type simply grinned at its trainer, seemingly taking no damage from the attack whatsoever. "Scor Bun Bun!"

"Bzzt! Bzzt! Scorbunny has leveled up! A new move, Double Kick, has been learned! Bzzt! Bzzt!" Ash's Rotom-Phone buzzed in his pocket, causing him to grin. It seemed that his Pokemon had gained experience due to the fact that Koffing had technically fainted, even though Scorbunny hadn't actually battled it at all.

"Alright then, Scorbunny! Let's test out your new moves!" Ash excitedly exclaimed to his Pokemon, eager to see the new attack that Scorbunny had managed to learn via level up. "Use Double Kick on Jessie, James, and their Meowth!"

Scorbunny nodded and dashed towards the trio, who watched in horror.

"W-W-W-Wait!" they exclaimed in unison, but to no avail as Scorbunny decided to attack anyways.

A brown outline appeared briefly around Scorbunny's body for a few seconds, signifying that Scorbunny had changed from a fire-type to a fighting-type. It then proceeded to unleash its brand new move, Double Kick, onto its opponents!

"Scor...BUNNY!"

The first kick hit both Jessie and James, who were damaged severely due to the fact that they were just average old humans.

The second kick hit Meowth, and the attack did quite a bit of damage to the talking Pokemon, since fighting-type attacks were super effective against normal types.

The air grew still around the trio, who simply stood there for a few seconds as Scorbunny jumped. However...

…The effects of the attack finally KICKED in, no pun intended, and the trio of grunts were sent flying into the air and over the horizon in a similar fashion to how the other grunts were sent flying just a few moments prior!

"It seems that, just like a rocket, we're blasting off!" James exclaimed before accidentally dropping his rose, much to his own dismay. "Agh! My rose!..."

"And we were so close to capturing a Pokemon, too..." Jessie sighed dejectedly. "I guess we're going to remain the worst members of Team Rocket for the rest of our lives..."

"Look alive, you two!" Meowth commanded, causing his incompetent allies to look at him in confusion. "Did you notice that brown outline that surrounded that Pokemon when it used Double Kick? I think it somehow changed its typing during the battle! It MUST be some sort of special Pokemon! If we could somehow grab that Scorbunny..."

"...And give it to the boss..." James continued, catching onto Meowth's idea.

"...Then we'd no longer be considered the worst members of Team Rocket anymore!" Jessie finished.

The trio of Team Rocket grunts grinned before shouting in unison: "We're gonna catch that Pokemon!..."

They then proceeded to disappear across the horizon.

"Great job, Scorbunny!" Ash happily told his partner, who grinned at him in response. "You showed those crooks who was the boss!"

Scorbunny smiled and nodded at its trainer before it proceeded to backflip and extend its arm out towards Ash. The raven-haired boy grinned and extended his arm out, high-fiving his partner on the foot.

As Scorbunny landed on to the ground, Ash looked up from his partner and at the battle between Spider-Man and the Green Goblin, which was still raging on.

"Man...Peter's NEVER gonna believe me when I tell him about this!..." Ash ironically thought to himself, unaware that Peter was actually the Amazing Spider-Man.

Spidey shot a web at the Green Goblin's eyes, blinding him as he attempted to throw a punch at the wallcrawler. Due to his blinded state, Peter was able to sidestep out of the villain's attack and deliver a powerful blow at the Green Goblin's face, sending him flying back and crashing into a pile of rubble.

"And THAT is how you defeat a villain!" Peter excitedly exclaimed. "Now I just need to web you up before-"

Peter, however, was cut off when he heard the sound of police sirens. He quickly whipped around to see a massive collection of local authorities consisting of police officers, police cars, and many different Pokemon including Arcanine and Machamp.

Arcanine was a quadrupedal, canine Pokemon with an orange pelt marked by jagged black stripes. It had diamond-shaped ears with beige insides, black eyes, a round, black nose, and two pointed teeth protruding from its upper jaw. Its head, muzzle, and chest were covered in shaggy, beige fur, except for two oval sections around each eye and ear. Long tufts of fur were located behind its elbows and around its ankles. Its underside was black, and it had a billowing, beige tail that is bent in the middle. Each paw had three toes and a round, pink pad. It was a fire-type Pokemon

Machamp was a humanoid Pokemon with four well-muscled arms. It had bluish-gray skin, red eyes, and pale yellow lips. On its head, there were three brown ridges right above its eyes. It had two arms on each side of its body: a pair located in the normal position, and another pair directly above them attached on the top of its shoulders. It had black markings that resembled briefs and wore a golden power-save belt that resembled a championship belt. Its legs had considerable muscle tone, and its feet had two toes each. It was a fighting-type Pokemon.

Leading the entirety of the police force was a woman with blue hair. She was dressed up in a typical police officer outfit, and was holding a megaphone.

"I am Officer Jenny of the Viridian City Police Force! Green Goblin! You are under arrest for attempted robbery of Pokemon, as well as the destruction of property! Please do not resist arrest, or we will have to get physical!" the woman, named Officer Jenny, shouted into her device.

"Well, I'm outta here!" Spider-Man mentally exclaimed as he shot a web at a nearby building and swung away, much to the confusion of everyone. Although Officer Jenny was a bit suspicious of this strange new hero, she decided to ignore him for the time being and decided to go after The Green Goblin.

Unfortunately for the side of justice, however, the supervillain had already planned an escape!

"Damn you all!" the Team Rocket admin exclaimed as he hopped onto his glider and took off into the sky, surprising everyone with the fact that he not only managed to remove the webbing from his eyes in a short period of time, but also with the fact that he had enough energy to escape!

"Don't let him escape!" Officer Jenny exclaimed, pointing at the villain in the sky. This command promptly caused the police force to open fire at the villain in the sky but, unfortunately, he was long gone.

The villain had escaped, and the Pokemon Center was in ruins...

…But hey, at least Team Rocket didn't get away with any stolen Pokemon!

"Where were you, Peter?! You missed out on it all! First that Spider-Guy showed up, and then the whole Pokemon Center exploded!" Ash, with a few cries from Scorbunny who attempted to help out, explained what had happened to Peter as the two of them walked towards the street where the World Science Expo was. A few hours had passed since the Team Rocket incident. "What were you doing the whole time?! You should've been there! It was so cool!"

"Well, I ran away with everyone else out of the building, but when I realized that you and Scorbunny were left behind, it was too late to go back! Sorry about that, Ash," Peter replied while scratching his cheek with one finger. He made up a believable lie so that Ash wouldn't get suspicious of him, and it seemed that it worked. However, Peter decided to change the subject. "Anyways, let's just forget about that. It was pretty hectic! Instead..."

The trio of Ash, Scorbunny and Peter stopped in their tracks, and found that incredibly large and excited grins spread across all of their faces.

In front of them was a large building, with the words 'WORLD SCIENCE EXPO' prominently displayed on the front. Multiple flashing lights from inside the building could be seen from the outside, which only excited the trio even more. Together, they all entered the building, ready to look at some SCIENCE.

"...Let's check out this Expo! I am super EXCITED about this!"

Unfortunately, someone else was ALSO rather excited for the World Science Expo...

Among all the buildings in Viridian City, Oscorp Tower was the tallest.

Its main structural support was one massive winding layer of murky green metal that surrounded the sides and back of the building and spiraled up to a point protruding from the top left corner, on the right, it sported an extremely large "Oscorp" logo. The front section of the building that was not covered with metal was made up of countless windows behind a hexagon linked pattern (like that of a honeycomb), and it was 108 floors tall.

As the name suggested, Oscorp Tower was the HQ of a large company called, you guessed it, Oscorp. Oscorp was a multimillion dollar company that specialized in technology and science.

One of the windows that led to a room on the highest floor just so happened to be open, and none other then the Green Goblin, who still riding on his bat-themed glider, zoomed into the window, landing into a room which was located on the highest floor. It was the office of Oscorp's owner, Norman Osborn.

The room was pretty plain, with a mostly brown-colored aesthetic. In front of the open window that The Green Goblin had entered through was a desk and a chair. The former of the two was littered with things like a very high-tech computer, as well as a tiny picture of a family. At the far other end of the room was a large, magnificent door, and there was a picture of a very sophisticated businessman hung above said door. The walls were littered with medals, ribbons, and trophies, which were all placed inside of trophy cases. There were many, MANY trophy cases, showing that the owner of this room had won a lot of awards.

"Damn that idiot! What was his name...Spider-Man? I will murder him for what he's done! I hate that insect so much!" the Green Goblin angrily exclaimed as he entered the room and hopped off of his glider, which proceeded to fly out of view. The Team Rocket Admin continued to rant for quite a bit before, finally, taking a deep breath and relaxing. He walked over to the desk and pressed a red button located underneath it, immediately causing some large metal arms to come out of the roof and take off his costume, revealing that, underneath the scary costume, he was actually the man in the picture! He was the owner of Oscorp, Norman Osborn!

Norman Osborn had orange wavy hair, and seemed to be in his late thirties to early forties. He was wearing a black business suit with a red tie.

Norman sat down into his chair and began working on his computer, acting as if he was there the entire time. Although he was still quite angry with the fact that his mission was a failure, he proceeded to mutter to himself in a dignified and sophisticated manner, which was completely different compared to the rough, tough, and rude way that The Green Goblin spoke in. "That blasted Spider-Man...I had heard rumors of a 'superhero' appearing here in the Kanto Region, but I never would have guessed that they were true!... 'The Boss' is going to scold me for this loss, but I suppose I shouldn't be TOO sad about it! After all, while The Green Goblin may have failed in his mission for Team Rocket, Norman Osborn will succeed in his mission for Oscorp! This year we'll have a smashing success at the World Science Expo!"

A knock came on the door, which Norman seemed to have expected, and in came a pair of two beefy security guards, who were accompanied by a particularly old man with a long nose. The guards were dressed up in a pair of black shades and a tuxedo, while the old man was wearing a dignified business suit.

"Mr. Osborn, Mr. Toomes is here to see you," one of the security guards told Norman in a deep voice, who simply smiled in response.

"Yes, I can see that," Norman Osborn replied in a dignified manner before looking at the old man, known as 'Mr. Toomes', and asked "To what do I owe the pleasure, Toomes?"

This chapter was pretty fun to write.

I decided to make Green Goblin an admin of Team Rocket because, unlike most evil teams like Team Magma or Team Aqua, Team Rocket doesn't really have a major goal apart from wanting to taking over the world. They're pretty much the Pokemon Mafia, and I feel like Team Rocket would definitely try to hire some supervillains if they existed in the Pokemon world. As for why he's an admin, well, he's pretty strong, so that's one thing, but its also because Norman Osborn is really rich and I feel like he could pay a lot of money to Team Rocket, sort of like a backer, and that would give him a pretty high spot in the ranks.

Also, the Green Goblin's outfit in this chapter was inspired by the outfit he wore when he was leading the Thunderbolts in the comics, by the way.

I'm going to try and make Team Rocket a lot more serious and menacing, kind of like in the Pokemon Adventures Manga, but Jessie, James and Meowth are definitely still going to show up and cause some silly shenanigans every now and then.

Oh, and on the topic of the Team Rocket trio, the outfits Jessie and James wore in this chapter were inspired the black outfits that they wore in the first part of the Pokemon Black and White anime, but they're going to appear in their classic outfits white outfits in their next appearances.

The next chapter will be a direct continuation of this one, and if you've seen the Spectacular Spider-Man TV show then you're definitely going to know what happens between Adrian Toomes and Norman Osborne. However, if you haven't seen the show, then you're going to (Hopefully) be surprised! Oh, and the next chapter will, hopefully, also have a character from Pokemon Sun and Moon, so stay tuned for that.

Until next time!
