 Author has written 11 stories for Yu Yu Hakusho, Inuyasha, Cowboy Bebop, Pokémon, and Scooby Doo. As requested by a reader, here is a status update explaining where I've been lately. UPDATE, 9/7/2021: I’m fine! Long story short, I came out as nonbinary this year. My pronouns are they/them/theirs. While discovering this truth about myself has been an immensely freeing and joyful experience for the most part, coming out has made it hard for me to connect with NQK. I’m currently taking time to build distance between her character and mine so I can continue to develop the story the way it deserves. Basically the fictional version of me hasn't grown in the same directions at the same rate as the real me, and I need to come to terms with that. But it's hard. While there are hints in LC that NQK isn't as cis as she/others might assume (Kurama asking about her past life gender, her thoughts on gender being performative, etc.), she hasn't had the chance to explore herself the way I have, so she remains stuck in an identity-space I no longer occupy. I'm going to continue to use she/her pronouns to refer to NQK, but I do consider her nonbinary, too. She just hasn't realized it yet. Conclusion: My relationship with LC is an awkward mess and that's why I've been gone. Dysphoria sucks, but I’m feeling better about myself than I ever have before, and that’s a win. I even got the NQK haircut, which I was sort of test-driving during LC in some ways! Funny how that works...
