[The Glide Games. Inspired by SomeDegenerate]
At a different time, it was the brother who was capture first and the sister spared. The Traveler that met with the Amnesiac Knight was a sister in search of her brother.
Other than that, there was not that much difference.
Because of how expansive the lands of Hyrule were, it didn't take long for one of the first mixed-world competitions to begin.
They called it the Gliding Games. Participants from many corners of Hyrule and Teyvat flocked over towards the Great Plateau.
The area was booming with people gathering around and meeting with new species they had not seen before. Children from Liyue gasped as they saw Rito flying in the sky, the Knights of Favonius sponsored guarding the festival alongside those of the Sheikah. Mondstat children played with Goron and Zora children. And those of the Qixing talked with merchants of the Gerudo women.
While in one corner, a wandering bard and a funeral parlor consultant enjoyed exotic drinks found only in Hyrule. For this day, the two old acquaintances were their jobs and nothing else. Besides, they were both enthralled listening to the tales of an old woman named Impa, who happened to share a table with the two men.
Yet everyone focused on the main event: on top of the Tower, and after some help with elevation, there was a line of participants looking out to the great beyond before them.
"Ladies, Gentlemen, Local, and Otherworldly beings!" Purah, a Sheikah scientist using some strange device to project her voice throughout the area. "Let me introduce ya all to the first-ever Glide Games between Hyrule and Teyvat! Here we have our host of judges, Danli, a Hylian Researcher on Paragliding! The Rito Elder, Kaneli! And all the way from Teyvat, please give a warm hand for the Liyue Adeptus, Cloud Retainer!"
Everyone saw the collection of judges on a special table. The old Rito Elder humbly waved, Cloud Retainer remained aloof, and Danli scribbled down notes like there was no tomorrow for him.
"With that introduction out of the way, let's go to our contestants!"
Up atop the tower, Amber looked out to the distance. "Whoa! This view is amazing! Is this what you always see in Hyrule, Lumine?" The excitable girl asked the Honorary Knight.
"It's still breath-taking as I first saw it." The Traveler answered.
"Now, let's go over the rules!" Purah shouted. "The first game is simple: who can sail the longest without touching the ground! As long as you guys don't crash into one another, the one who stays up in the air the longest wins!"
Lumine knew Amber was excited about this. In Mondstat, she was the 3-year champion of all Gliding Contests. This was her chance to show and prove that she could also be the best glider in Hyrule as well as Teyvat.
Everyone soon got into position. Lumine spotted Link... getting his bow ready?
"Link?" Lumine had this bad feeling in her stomach as she saw her companion readying his bow instead of his paraglider.
However, before the outsider could ask The Hylian what he was doing, she was ignored as Purrah Declared that everyone would start the contest.
As such, everyone ran off the edge and began activating their paragliders and Wing Gliders at the same time.
It didn't take long for most of the competitors, even Lumine, to reach the land.
"And now we're down to two competitors left, and they're still pretty high up in the sky!" Purrah pointed. Lumine had a bad feeling in her stomach when she saw it was just Link and Amber.
"But it looks like Amber is a good distance higher than Link, and she's showing no signs of dropping! What an expert Mondstat has!"
Link soon started to lower down, but Lumine's feeling of trepidation got verified when she Saw Link reaching for his bow.
"Is he using his bow? Isn't that illegal?" The Rito Edler asked.
"Wait, I know Link! He would never attack another player!" Purah screamed as her glasses transformed into the lens and looked forward. "Huh. Wait. He's pointing his bow down... and is that a Bomb arrow?"
"I don't like the sound of that," Paimon said what Lumine was thinking before Link fired a Bomb arrow ahead of him, catching some grass on fire and making an updraft.
"Wowza! How unconventional! He set ablaze the ground to bring himself back higher in the air! He's now higher than Amber!" Danli shouted with admiration before he quickly wrote as if he was possessed.
"W-What!? Hey!" The Outrider cried out indignantly. "That can't be fair!"
"Technically, sweetie, there's nothing against it in the rules! Maybe next year!?" Purah shouted back.
"Ugghhh!" The brunette whined before her eyes narrowed. She was not going to lose her 3-year streak to the guy that literally eats things off the floor! "Alright, fine! You wanna play like that?"
Lumine silently prayed that she wasn't seeing Amber preparing a Baron Bunny, an item Amber uses for basically luring and bombing enemies with fire.
As she saw something falling from the sky, she knew her prayers went unanswered.
Meanwhile, down below.
"At last! We, The Yiga Clan, will strike down these interlopers and offer our spoils to Lord Gannon!" The Yiga Clan, a traitorous branch of Sheika warriors, hid behind the trees ready to strike the unsuspecting Hylians and those from Teyvat.
"And we can steal Bananas from another world!"
"Oooh! Bananas from another world!" "I hope they taste better!" "Blasphemy!"
Despite their priorities, they are a clan worth fearing in Hyrule. However, before they could make their attack, something in the shape of a bunny dropped in the center of their group.
"Hey, what's that—"
Pieces of the forest exploded and created a big updraft that brought Amber higher in the air than Link.
In response, Link impressively prepped another bomb arrow.
A few explosions later, people noticed that both Amber and Link were very far from the contest to the point they could no longer hear Purah's magnified voice.
"Uhhh," Purah began before she looked towards the consulting judges. "Well, folks! Since both Contestant Amber and Link aren't stopping any time soon, we're going to have to disqualify them both for going out of bounds and for the fact we have a schedule to keep with other games! The winner of this contest is Lumine by technically winning 3rd place!"
Lumine breathed deep through her nose. She was going to have to find those two later.
Oh well, at least she just had to follow the trail of burnt grass and explosions.
{Author Notes}
Thanks to SomeDegenerate for the idea of this small story! I was trying to find a more light-hearted story concept for this but I couldn't quite pinpoint how. Then when he/she/they brought up that questline, I did some research and thought of a fun idea to bring everyone together (even if it's by implication). Don't pay too much attention to the timeline, since I didn't. That means it's up in the air whether or not this is before or after The Divine Beasts have been freed or not. Maybe they have been? As I said, I didn't pay it much mind, and you don't need to.
That's all for now. Hope you had fun reading.
