The Prodigy Who Lived: A Harry Potter Fanfiction
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or any of its associated characters: all rights belong to JK Rowling. I do not own any crossover references used in the story: all rights belong to their original creators. I do own any OC spells explained at the end of a chapter.
Plot: When Harry Potter was born, he did not cry. When he saw a bad man destroyed in front of him, he smiled. As he grew into a gifted wizard, he turned to some undesirable interests: everyone agrees, something's not right with Harry Potter. If only they knew!
Author's Note: So, as weird as this dark idea is going to sound, it was mostly inspired by the movie The Prodigy and, well, at the same time, I was sort of inspired by a sadly-abandoned work of mine, but this idea that was born from those inspirations takes a darker turn than its source material.
Still, I hope people can enjoy the fun and games and, as always, if you don't like it, don't read it.

Chapter 1: Mama's Boy
When Harrison Harry James Potter was born, he did not cry.
Thankfully, the breath that escaped his small nostrils and the gentle beating of his small heart told the Healers that he was alive, much to the relief of his Mother, Lady Lily Alexandra Potter nee Evans, and his Father, Lord James Charlus Potter.
At last, after several failed attempts and even a miscarriage that had almost ruined their marriage, the Potters were parents to a beautiful, angelic baby boy, with the warmest, brightest and most-observant emerald-green-eyed stare that anyone had seen. And, while James immediately vanished to tell the news and start making plans for his little Prongslet's future, Lily held her child close to her body, listening to the soft, adorable, but no-less relieving sounds of him nursing from her breast.
As Harry drank in his Mummy's milk, Lily looked up to the only person in the room, Healer Leslie Thompson, who looked back at her with a mixture of nerves and relief-both, before, adjusting her child so he was comfortable, Lily held out her free hand to the Healer.
When Leslie took the hand, however, the young Healer gasped when she felt Lily's grip tighten before, fixing Thompson with a green-eyed glare that made the medic think of the world's most-dangerous curse, Lily hissed softly.
"James can never know what happened, Healer Thompson. As your patient, I am telling you; he never finds out!"
As Leslie shuddered, she gulped hard before she nodded as she asked, "Are…are you going to at least tell him you…you can't have…any more children, Lady Potter? The…the blood loss…the potions we had to give you…the…what did you call it?"
"Caesarean," replied Lily, looking down at her baby, who continued feeding, blissfully-ignorant of the pain and emotion going through his Mummy as she talked with the Healer, before Lily sniffed once as she added, "And no; I won't tell him. James always wanted a big family, but all I need is my beautiful boy. Besides…he's going to be too busy with his Auror duties; knowing him, he'll go back to Moody and the others more often now he knows he has a son."
"But Lady Potter, he loves you…"
"That's not important," said Lily, gently running a finger over her child's forehead as she smiled at Harry.
"All that matters to me now is him, Healer…so…again, I tell you: he never finds out!"
Prodigy
"Mama."
"Merlin's beard!" gasped Lily, before she scooped up five-month-old Harry, holding him close as she smiled broadly, a mixture of shock, amazement and glee on her face as she asked, "Harry? Did…did you just say…"
"Mama!" repeated baby Harry, clapping his tiny hands as he reached out and cupped her nose in his grip, earning a teary smile from Lily as she pulled him close before she kissed him, blowing a raspberry on his tummy for good measure.
As her baby's giggles filled the room, Lily hugged Harry to her, while the little boy gathered a handful of her red hair in his tiny hands as he snuggled against the woman who'd given him life, knowing in his small heart that his Mama was happy and that she was never going to leave him.
Prodigy
"Come on, pup; you can do it…say, Dada!"
"James!" exclaimed Harry, his face scrunched up in a classic expression of an infant about to have a temper tantrum; given he was only six months old, it was a strange thing to see, though James was more-concerned with the fact that his boy could say his name, but not call him what he was.
"No, Harry; you don't say that word, now, say Dada!"
"James!"
"Harry James…"
"JAMES!" Screamed Baby Harry.
Seconds later, three pictures along the wall cracked and splintered, showering the floor with glass while, when James turned to the pictures in question, his eyes widened with horror when he saw each one of them had something seemingly-scratched or burned out of focus.
His face!
"LILY!"
Prodigy
"He's just a baby!"
"And I am telling you; he did it!" snarled James, pointing a shaking finger at Harry, who seemed to be watching with a mixture of blank curiosity and apathy that was definitely not normal for a child of only six months old. "Look at this, Lily! All three of them with my face burned out; I mean, just look. Our Head Boy and Girl picture; our wedding photo, not to mention your first day with a fat belly…"
"Oscausi!"
As James was muzzled by the charm, having made the Merlin of all husband's mistakes by insulting his wife's weight and looks, Lily lowered her wand before she heard a giggle coming from her baby; ignoring her husband's muffled protests, Lily crossed the room before she picked Harry up, holding him close as she smiled at him.
"So, you're already using Accidental Magic, are you, my beautiful boy? That deserves a double din-dins: come on, sweetie."
Prodigy
"Mama?"
Looking up from her latest copy of the Daiily Prophet, Lily saw one-year-old Harry looking at her with a mixture of concern, pain and a small amount of fear, the latter of which spurred Lily into action as she tossed her paper aside before she scooped her baby up, her voice filled with fear, dread and a mother's worry as she cuddled him close.
"What is it, my beautiful boy? Have you made a smelly nappy? Are you feeling sick? Did you have another accident? Did you have a nightmare? Tell Mama all about it, sweetheart; what happened? What's upset you?"
"James."
Hearing her husband's name from her baby's lips, Lily looked right into Harry's eyes.
When she did so, her eyes widened when, all of a sudden, a vision started playing out in her head…
Vision Start
"If she won't listen, I have no choice."
Standing over his child's crib, James held a small vial in one hand, while he used the other to hold up a bottle of freshly-pumped milk; while the viewer – baby Harry – looked on in confusion, James upended the vial before he capped the milk bottle, shaking it up as he looked down at Harry.
"Your magic is too wild, Harry; too dark. I won't have a dark-user in my family; but don't worry, Daddy's going to make it all better. One sip of this Binding Potion and you'll be a nice, normal little prankster and not some pathetic Death Eater, Snivellus wannabe…"
With that, he drew his wand and levitated Harry, before practically shoving the bottle into his mouth.
Two seconds later, a burst of magical force ripped the baby away, before he spoke again.
"Mama?"
Vision End
"JAMES CHARLUS POTTER!"
Caressing her baby softly, as he wept against her with the apparent memory of what had happened, Lily looked up just in time to see James run into her room, his face pockmarked with scars, as well as a broken bottle in one hand.
"You bastard!" thundered Lily, tucking Harry against her protectively, "How dare you try and bind our son's magic! What on earth were you thinking when you decided that he didn't have the right to be a real wizard?"
"It's for the Greater Good, Lily," replied James, pointing a shaking, bleeding finger at Harry as he insisted, "He's too powerful; his magic's too dark-sided. I mean, look! He bloody-well nicked me, blew up my wand and smashed the bottle in my face!"
"He's just a baby!" snapped Lily, holding Harry close as she rose from the bed before, glaring daggers at James, she hissed, "It's Accidental Magic, you immature dick! He can't control it, anymore than you can control being such an arrogant little tosser whose obviously been spending way too much time around the likes of Albus and that whore, Molly Weasley, if you think this is how you deal with your child's magical outbursts! Now, get out of my way!"
"What? Where are you going? You know we're not meant to…"
"I don't care," hissed Lily, shushing Harry as he whimpered against her before she told James, "I am taking Harry to see Leslie Thompson and get whatever disgusting thing you've forced down his small gullet out before you wind up forcing him through the sort of life that might end up making him into an Obscurus!"
"Lily, you don't…"
"James, I swear, if you say one more word, I'll castrate you slowly and lock you in a room with Remus' better half!"
With that, James was silenced, while Lily kissed her baby boy's brow before she vanished with a very loud, almost tremor-inducing crack…
Prodigy
"It's good you brought him to me, Lily; thankfully, there wasn't enough potion in him to do too much damage…well, not permanently."
"Thank you, Leslie," sighed Lily, watching as the Healer injected a syringe into little Harry's arm, not even earning so much as a whimper of pain from the small boy, while Lily looked to the Healer with appreciation. "I know we got off to a bit of a rocky start after…after what happened, but it's good to know that I've always been able to rely on you to help me make sure my baby's safe and healthy."
"Until you say otherwise, Lily, little Harrison is my patient-first and anything else second," replied Leslie, gently rubbing the infant's tummy, earning a cute giggle from Harry, while Leslie smiled warmly as she looked up when Lily continued.
"Yes, but, let's be honest with ourselves, Leslie; you've become a real friend too lately and I'm glad for that too. Sorry for sounding sappy and all; it's just…I can't believe James; I mean, putting blocks on a child is normal, but only so much that the force within them is weaned off as they grow older until, finally, at 17, their blocks fade completely and they become true wizards."
"Some people are different than others, Lily," argued the Healer, offering Harry a small, kid-friendly lollipop to suckle on, which the small boy accepted with a murmur of thanks, before Leslie turned to Lily with a mixture of personal strength and faith in her eyes as she continued speaking with her patient's mother-turned-friend.
"And some can't accept how special or unique others are: I mean, I've watched little Harrison grow up with you, checking every fever, every rash and even every sickness bug. And, from what I've seen, I can honestly tell you that you have one H-E-L-L of a special little sorcerer growing here. His cognitive abilities are astonishing for someone barely even thirteen months old, and, from what you've mentioned of his magic, I think we may be looking at someone of Dumbledore's level, if not stronger, by the time he fully matures."
"Strong?"
Looking back to the child, Lily smiled as she nodded before scooping Harry up again, tickling his tummy while she kissed his brow as she replied, "Yes, my beautiful boy; you're very strong. Your Daddy's just being silly for not realising that sooner, but, don't you worry, my special little guy; Mama won't let him stop you from being strong never, ever again."
"Mama," whispered Harry, nuzzling Lily's chest softly.
Realising what he wanted, Lily turned to Leslie, who nodded as she told him, "Go on, he deserves it for being such a brave little soldier…I'll give you two some privacy and then we'll check to see if the potion's out of him."
"Thank you, Leslie."
As Lily began feeding Harry, Leslie smiled before she closed the door to the consultation room, leaving Mother and Son alone with their love and the little one's hunger for his Mama's milk.
Prodigy
Outside the room, however, Leslie smiled softly before her smile became colder, darker and tinged with a hint of personal satisfaction as she pressed a hand to the door, her sparkling-violet-coloured eyes shining as she chuckled to herself.
"Eat, my Prince; do not be afraid. Your faithful servants will make sure that mongrel never stops you again…and, if it means helping protect you, we know that Mama will keep you safe, even if it means killing the pathetic insect, James Potter, herself."
As Leslie moved her hand away from the door, she maintained a professional front as she turned before she headed back to her office.
If she was going to be proven correct, she had to ensure that nothing could threaten His rise to greatness ever again…
Whoa, talk about a spooky start: Lily seems to dote on her child and loathe the very existence of the sperm donor, while Harry seems to have inherited, and evolved, his Mama's smarts and his family's strength, but how?
Also, what's Leslie Thompson's secret? What does she mean calling Harry her Prince and could it have anything to do with Lily's willing devotion and almost yandere-like attitude towards her special, gifted and powerful little boy?
