The Avengers had been dealing with a plot by anti-mutant organisations using resources from both HYDRA and AIM to construct a Cosmic Cube and using the energy of the retrieved Reality, Time and Space Stones in order to create a world where there were no Superhumans; they were using an earthquake machine to devastate the entire state to power it. The Avengers had called in most of the Heroes and the X-Men to help stop them and the villains' ship had crashed into the building housing the Threats & Menaces website.
J. Jonah Jameson the host watched as the heroes fought across the building and the powered up Cube fell out of its containment unit and he reached for it while the effects of the machine was going on. "Jonah, give the Cube to us! We can reverse the effects of the machine and stop these goons from changing the world; we can fix what has happened..." Peter Parker the Spider-Man yelled out and Jonah grinned as he took the Cube for himself.
"I will fix it all right, ever since you told me who you were I have been trying to fix our working relationship and your reputation... Nothing seems to work but now I can fix everything..." Jonah grinned as his eyes grew bright blue.
Peter Parker had been bitten by a radioactive spider at 15 years old and found himself gaining great spider based powers, he adopted a costume and anonymously signed up for a wrestling competition. He found a burglar robbing the place in the halls and instinctively helped apprehend this fiend. Realising his instinct to help out and stop criminals and feeling that it was his responsibility to help people made him decide to become a crime fighting vigilante. He had the support of his Aunt May and Uncle Ben when they found out.
Loud and fearless owner of the Daily Bugle; J. Jonah Jameson was sceptical of this masked figure at first but at the test flight of his astronaut son John Jameson went wrong, Spider-Man had helped save him and stop any casualties causing the elder Jameson to become his biggest supporter while his son recuperated in hospital. Doctor Otto Octavius had found funding for his experiments along with personnel to help with his saftey procedures so he remained a respected scientist.
The shields of the space shuttle headed by Reed Richards never failed and Tony Stark was never kidnapped by terrorists but he made a conscious decision to shut down the weapons department feeling the world had become too dangerous. Norman Osborn head of Oscorp had been killed by one of his experiments leading to his son Harry Osborn to take up the reigns of the company when he became of age.
Spider-Man continued fighting villains and foes that had popped up but would have help; John Jameson recovered in hospital but it turned out that the meteorite that the space mission had brought back infected him with spores which increased his mass and strength. Donning a suit he had become the superhero known as Colonel Jupiter and would help out Spider-Man.
He would gain allies such as the masked reformed burglar Hobie Brown the Prowler and officers in the police such as Jean DeWolff and George Stacy. Plus heroic private detective Mac Gargan who helped expose wannabe criminal kingpin Wilson Fisk and got him behind bars; he had got himself severly injured saving scientist Farley Stillwell who helped save his life by combining his genetics with that of a scorpion giving him great power and a suit to go with his new powers. The new hero Scorpion worked with Spider-Man. Plus there was Mysterio the mysterioly cloaked powerful sorcerer from another planet who had came to Earth befriending Spidey as they both teamed up to stop the threat that destroyed his planet from doing the same to Earth. Spider-Man and his superhero allies would be called Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends.
He helped out the Mutant superhero team known as the X-Men and helped fix public perception of Mutants along with J. Jonah Jameson using the Bugle to talk about the X-Men's heroics. Mutant hating politicians were cast to the side and projects like the Sentinels or the Mutant Registration Act never made it past the draft.
Spider-Man's arch enemy would be the dictator of Latveria known as Doctor Victor Von Doom who had come to Earth amongst protests of the media and the citizens. He used his planned speech as a cover to try and use a device to knock out power from the entire country so he would be able to take over. Spider-Man teamed up with Doctor Octavius who had devised a device to destroy all of Doom's technology without affecting others and Spider-Man used it on Doom's device in his airship. The blast was more powerful than expected and so Doom's technology through the entire world was destroyed. Without his weapons and Doombots; Doom's military forces were unprepared for when the Freedom Fighters of Latveria overthrew his rule and Doom's government was disavowed by the UN.
Doom with his ego once he was able to rebuild technology focused his mind of taking on his nemesis Spider-Man before trying to reclaim his country.
Peter Parker ended up falling in love with Gwen Stacy in college and after graduating they ended up married with Harry Osborn their good friend as his best man. Peter now ran his technology company Parker Industries which focused on helping people and with his wife's blessing he enjoyed trysts with their good friend Mary Jane Watson who was becoming an A-List actress; with her leading role in the Black Cat movie franchise about a masked cat burglar with a heart of gold. Peter also found a young teenager named Miles Morales who had gained spider powers and was training him to be a next generation Spider-Man.
Captain America himself Steve Rogers would be found in ice and teamed up with Spider-Man his successor as America's biggest hero. After some time he retired from the field since the world was in good hands.
At the White House; US Press Secretary J. Jonah Jameson was just finished with a meeting with US President Steve Rogers and went to an office to find Peter there as Spider-Man. "You should have called a meeting Spider-Man but considering you are earth's mightiest hero, I guess you can be forgiven..." Jonah told him but Peter came closer.
"Jonah, it took a few weeks for me to fully grasp my memories but I remember what happened so just tell me where the Cube is?" Peter asked in a no nonsense voice. Jameson just sighed and shook his head.
"Can't say that there wasn't a part of me expecting this; I suspected there was a part of me as I was changing everything that wasn't fully into what it was made to make you subconsciously remember the world that was there before for a chance to undo it by why? People love you and the heroes; all the times that this world had been almost destroyed by aliens, gods and Superhumans hadn't happened and there is no upcoming human-Mutant war with most of the Mutants acting as superior over in their sovereign living island! Everyone you couldn't saved is alive so I ask why would you want to change everything back? It's not like I am that fake HYDRA Cap who wanted to change everything so the fascists snake Nazis won the War! If I was really the big bad villain you might think I am then I could have easily made it so that I am the one living here in the White House?" Jameson continued on.
"There is a lot of stuff that I wished that I could have gone back and changed but the failures and bad choices; they define us and help us become better! I can't just sit back and just let myself stay in this false world, my responsibility won't let me so I will ask again, where is the Cube?" Peter asked in a threatening voice as he saw Jameson's eyes glow bright blue.
"I wasn't going to just leave the Cube on the chance that someone could find it and use it so I transferred its power to me! So you want tragedy in your life to define the hero you are? That can easily be arranged Parker; I can make it so that your aunt and uncle both died or how about they were abusive monsters who resented and hated your very existence or being a puny nerd! I can make it so that MJ got herself killed in a car crash on the way to your wedding! I can make it so that your powers made you accidentally kill your Uncle Ben during an argument! I have all this power and infinite chances to change this world to make it satisfactory for you Parker! You want me to be the bad guy then I can let myself be your arch enemy; J. Jonah Jameson secretly the Kingpin of Crime using his paper to slander the great hero undermining his operations!" Jameson yelled looking like he had gone mad with power.
"I don't know about you Jonah but keeping rebooting Spider-Man will just get tiring..." Peter muttered ready to try as futile as it probably will be to attack the Cosmic Cube powered Jameson.
This was an idea I got and I am leaving this open for anyone to take it up and feel free to change the details of the altered world as you please (just please direct me to your fic once you have it up). I was inspired by the Heroes Reborn comic event and the fact that Jameson has been trying to be a supportive ally to Spider-Man in recent comics. Making Scorpion and Mysterio superhero allies of Spidey is basically Jameson also trying to rework his own failures since he funded Scorpion's creation and had initially promoted Mysterio as a hero.
