I own nothing you may recognize.
6 months Later 1019 AD, Castle Pendragon
"Brother you have returned!" A tall thin man with light hair and green eyes said as he saw Hadrianus enter the hall.
"Well Percival, I have completed my time with the Druids and so when I heard our people were being attacked I knew I needed to come home, where is father?" Hadrianus asked curiously.
"He went with a small company to investigate the sightings of two new dragons, George is with them, so he left Caliburn with me," Percival said calmly.
"When did they leave?" Hadrianus asked curiosity clear in his voice.
"Yesterday, but don't concern yourself, I know they will be fine," Percival said firmly.
"But what of the White Dragon that I have heard has been attacking our home recently?" Hadrianus asked confused.
"About the time the reports of the new dragons came in the White Dragon flew south towards Rome, though I do not believe it will stay there," Percival said simply.
"Do we have any idea why it had attacked our home?" Hadrianus asked confused.
"No, but do not fear little brother we will defeat it," Percival said firmly.
"Of that I have no doubt, but we should still be preparing more for if or when it returns," Hadrianus said firmly.
"And we are, we also have begun preparations in case the Emperor summons all arms to Rome, so we have a strong enough force to man the castle while another company can join the grand army," Percival said simply.
"Good, I am glad that you are preparing for such an eventuality," Hadrianus said with a smile before having small talk with his brother.
A year Later 1020 AD, Castle Pendragon
"My liege, I bring word from our Lord," A man said as he entered the hall where Hadrianus and Percival were talking.
"Daeron, what news do you bring from our father, good news I hope, in regards to the dragons I presume?" Percival said recognizing the man.
"Indeed, the one druid we brought with us was able to get close enough to the dragons and spoke with them, and apparently they sensed that Excalibur has been recovered and they wish to meet with the receiver," the man said quickly.
"I'm sorry, but I have not heard anything about that sword, we all know that Lord Hadrianus, the Emerald Dragon, was the last holder of that blade, but he gave it to Nimue," Percival said simply.
"Actually brother, I thought I had told you, but before I left the Druids I was taken to the lake, and the Lady in the Lake gave me Excalibur," Hadrianus said calmly.
"What! Why didn't you tell me!" Percival said shocked.
"Well, I thought I did, so should I go see those dragons?" Hadrianus asked calmly.
"No, you should stay here, I'll take Excalibur and meet with father, why don't you go get it for me," Percival said firmly, before Hadrianus left slightly miffed at his brother's decision.
"Um, my liege, the dragons asked for the receiver, so perhaps your brother should bring the sword," Daeron said cautiously.
"I am the heir of Pendragon, I am the one who should be the holder of Arther's sword, not my brother," Percival said rolling his eyes.
"Of course, my liege, forgive me," Daeron said before Hadrianus came back into the room holding the massive sword over one shoulder.
"Thank you brother, I'll take it from you now," Percival said as he stood and grabbed the sword hilt only to not be able to lift the blade even an inch off the ground.
"Are you sure you're okay, it seems like you are struggling to pick it up," Hadrianus said with a small smirk.
"What spell have you placed on the sword, that is making it so I can't pick it up?" Percival asked angrily.
"I didn't cast anything on the sword, maybe the sword only can have one wielder at a time," Hadrianus said curiously.
"Yeah right, and even if that is the case, why would it be you? Daeron, get the local druids so they can remove the spell that my brother has clearly placed on the sword," Percival said as he drags the massive sword over to by his chair where he sat down.
"Of course my liege, though I feel that perhaps your brother is right," Daeron said before quickly leaving to get the druids.
"I'm sorry my liege, but there are no spells on the sword, except one likely placed on it by Lady Nimue herself, to bind it to it's receiver," An old man said after Daeron brought him back to the castle.
"I refuse to believe that, Daeron get me the other druids, I want another opinion," Percival said irritably.
"I'm sorry, my liege, but there are no other druids, I am the last, all of my kin have went away, for our time is over, forgive me my liege," The old man said and Daeron nodded his agreement to the statement.
"Fine, Hadrianus take the fucking sword, and I hope the Dragons kill you when you see them, maybe they want to add it to their treasure hoard," Percival said angrily before stomping away.
"The swords, such as Excalibur, Ascalon, and Caliburn, were all created under the light of Avalon, which gives them their power to destroy gods, no weapons forged since the departure of Avalon have been able to compare, use the sword wisely Lord Hadrianus, and it will serve you well," The old man said before leaving the room.
Six months Later 1021 AD, Dragon's Cave.
"Welcome Hadrianus," The Emerald Dragon said as Hadrianus entered the cave.
"You know my name?" Hadrianus asked shocked.
"Indeed, I am Brynnais, and at my side is Vhagar Ophis, we are the dragons of restoration and maintenance, and we have waited for you for many years," The Emerald Dragon said simply.
"But how do you know my name?" Hadrianus asked confused.
"Because it was foretold that the next wielder of Excalibur would be the Squire of the first, and we have great need for you," Vhagar Ophis said simply.
"Why do you need me, I am just the spare heir of house Pendragon, not the heir of house Pendragon," Hadrianus asked confused.
"Heir, spare, who cares, we surely don't neither did King Arther, we need you because you have great potential. Right now we have great need for the greater part of the White Dragon Destroyer is seeking to destroy the world, and the greater part of the Red Dragon Creator and the other gods who remain are unable to defeat the greater part of the White Dragon," Brynnais said simply.
"Greater part of these dragons?" Hadrianus asked confused.
"Yes, shortly after the White Dragon began it's path of destruction it's soul split, since part of him did not want the destruction of all life, and so became a new dragon, the lesser White Dragon Emperor, who calls himself Albion, who just wants the destruction of the remnants of Avalon. A part of the Red Dragon broke away to protect the remnants of Avalon and calls himself the Red Dragon Emperor Ddraig. They are pretty equally matched, but are no where near as strong as any of the four Dragon Gods, us two, and the two previously mentioned," Vhagar Ophis said simply.
"Okay, but I suppose that does not fully explain why I am so important," Hadrianus said confused.
"Well the wielder of the Sword Excalibur will help to weaken the White Dragon God enough that they can be sealed away. Though the cost will be great, which is why we asked that you would meet with us before the battle comes. May we see the Black gem on your sword?" Brynnais asked curiously.
"Of course, why?" Hadrianus asked as he removed the stone from the sword with surprising ease.
"We will put part of our souls into the stone, so if the binding weakens us to such a degree that our physical forms die, our spirits, joined as one will be able to continue onward as a tool to those we find worthy, equal in strength to that of the Dragon Emperors," Vhagar Ophis said before both of them placed a claw on the stone before visibly growing more faint.
"Now, until we meet again, be well," Brynnais said before both he and Vhagar Ophis flew away.
12 years later, 1033 AD, Rome
"Thank you for coming so quickly, though I had thought that the force from the Lands of Pendragon would have been more numerous, since those were the reports that I had received," A Dark-haired man said as Hadrianus dismounted from his horse, leading a group of 500 men behind him.
"Your Grace, forgive our small numbers, the Lord Percival Pendragon and I have recently had some more major disagreements since our father's passing, and so he has chosen to maintain 90% of our forces in case we fail to subdue our foe here and they chose to attack the Lands of Pendragon," Hadrianus said sadly.
"That is too bad, well come with me, we are having a meeting with the generals, both mortal and beyond," The man said before leading Hadrianus to a large tent, while his company went to set up their own camp.
"Welcome back Caesar Conrad, General Pendragon," God of the Bible said as they entered the tent.
"Your holiness, why again did you ask for us to call the Forces of Pendragon, but not the forces of Gaul and other lands?" The man who had led Hadrianus into the tent asked curiously.
"Well Ceasar, the House of Pendragon has a long tie to the Lands of Avalon, whose people had the ability to create weapons that could kill Gods, the greatest of which, crafted by the Last King of the Followers of Avalon, is held by General Pendragon, is that not correct?" The God of the Bible asked Hadrianus.
"Oh you are talking about Excalibur? I did not know it could kill Gods or was crafted by King Arther," Hadrianus said shock evident on his face as he pulled the massive sword from his back.
"Indeed, one of the four most powerful weapons ever crafted, being equal in strength to the Spear of St Longinus who killed my son, the sword Gram, which is currently held Sigfried of the Holy Roman Empire, and the Sword Durandal, which is held by Caesar's Paladin Roland," The God of the Bible said simply before a man came running into the room.
"Your council, the Great White Dragon has attacked our western Flank, we need all forces to aide us, least we all die!" The man said with urgency in his voice.
"Perhaps now is not the time to discuss strategy, we must move!" The God of the Bible said before they all stood and quickly made their way to their forces.
Two Years Later, Fields in Northern Rome.
"Hadrianus! No!" Caesar Conrad said as he saw his now close friend fall once his sword shattered.
"How did that happen?" God of the Bible said as he saw the sword shatter.
"I used its power to bind the dragon see," Hadrianus said weakly as chains erupted from the swords pieces and began to chain the White Dragon who screamed in pain.
"Those chains by themselves will not hold him, anyone who could give strength to the chains come over here!" Brynnais said as he flew over, with his mate to coming with shortly after, as the chains began to grow in size and number.
"I'll join as well, other leaders, please this is our best chance to chain the Destroyer!" God of the Bible said before channeling his energy into the chains before others such as Odin, Zeus, Ra, Shiva, Kronos, Lucifer, the great Red and others approached causing the chains to continue to grow in number.
"NOOOO!" The White Dragon said as his form began to fade.
"Magno cum magna factiones principes et potestates ex factione Vetus et ligare nos Draco Alba, ex omni modo usque ad aeternum," The God of the Bible chanted before it was repeated by the others, causing the White Dragon to Vanish, but also the Emerald Dragon to Vanish having put all his strength into the binding, and Vhagar Ophis becoming light Gray in color and Hadrianus' eyes losing all light as he died in the process.(1)
"My mate is gone!" Vhagar Ophis said sadly.
"I'm sorry Vhagar, I wish I had the power to free him from the binding as well," God of the Bible said sadly.
"Ophis, from this time forward I am Ophis, Vhagar Brynnais is the Dragon bound to the Sword, the Black and Emerald Dragon," Ophis said before flying off.
Wood Between World
"Well, that was quite a fall, but I'm okay now, ready to go to the mirror and go back to the common room before anyone notices we're gone Hedwig?" Hadrian asked as he dusted himself off.
"Yeah, let's go, I'm tired," Hedwig said before helping Hadrian remember where the mirror was before they touched the mirror and found themselves once more in the random room, where time seemingly had not passed at all.
"What, I swear I was in that forest for hours, how is it still dark here?" Hadrian asked confused.
"Who knows, maybe time works differently in the mirror than out here," Hedwig said simply.
"Yeah, that would make sense wouldn't it, well like you said I'm tired too so lets go to bed Hedwig," Hadrian said before leaving the room, silently swearing to never try and find the mirror again since he did not want to get lost in that wooded area again.
