In front of Beacon Academy, new students who've applied and accepted for the initiation came in from a bullhead. Among those students was Jaune Arc. He was finally at Beacon, he's dreamed about being here since he was a child, but his parents never wanted him to follow his dream of being a Huntsman.

"Beacon, I'm finally here," Jaune said to himself, he walked to the edge of the platform to see the view from Beacon to the Emerald Forest, but he then felt the ground shake with a loud boom.

"Okay, what the hell was that?" Jaune asked himself. He then looked around to see if he could see the cause of the explosion. It didn't take long; he saw a white-haired girl and a girl with dark-red hair in the roots of her head that became bright red in the tips. The white-haired girl was covered in ashes, while the red-haired girl was apologising to her.

"I'm really, really sorry!" the red-haired girl apologised. She was poking both of her index fingers together while looking apologetic for causing an explosion.

"Ugh, you complete dolt! What are you even doing here? Aren't you a little young to be attending Beacon?!" the white-haired girl said. She then leaned forward to bring her face close to the red-haired girl who looked very uncomfortable at her questions.

"Well, I-I..." the red-haired girl tried to answer the question, but the white-haired girl did not give her any time to explain herself.

"This isn't your ordinary combat school. It's not just sparring and practice, you know! We're here to fight monsters, so... watch where you're going!" the white-haired girl said. She was still leaning close to the red-haired girls face.

"Hey, I said I was sorry, princess!" the red-haired girl shouted. She was finally fed up with the other girl acting like she was the only important person in the world.

Close by was another girl, and she had raven-coloured hair. She went towards the two girls that were arguing. In her hands was a vial which one can see contains a red object inside.

'I guess Blake got accepted as well,' Jaune thought, he then stroked his chin while thinking if it was a good idea to try and partner up with her, but his thought was interrupted when he heard her speak.

"It's heiress, actually. Weiss Schnee, heiress to the Schnee Dust Company, one of the largest producers of energy propellant in the world," the raven-haired girl informed. She was walking closer to the two girls.

"Finally! Some recognition!" Weiss said, a smug smile then forms on her face.

"The same company infamous for its controversial labour forces, questionable business partners and practices," the raven-haired girl informed. She then looked at the vial on her hand and then back at Weiss. These words said by the raven-haired girl seemed to make the red-haired girl giggle.

"Wha- How dare- The nerve of... Ugh!" Weiss said. She then gets up in the raven-haired girl's face and takes the bottle from her, and she then walks off in a huff as her helpers gather the luggage and follow.

'That girl needs to calm down. Just the first day and she is already blowing up.' Jaune chuckled at his thoughts, and he then continued watching everything that was happening in front of him.

"I promise I'll make this up to you! I guess I'm not the only one having a rough first day... So, what's..." the red-haired girl shouted. She then turned back to speak to the raven-haired girl that helped her with Weiss, but she was already walking away.

"Welcome to Beacon..." the red-haired girl added. She then proceeded to let herself fall in the crater that she had created. When Jaune saw this, he decided to approach her and offer a hand and a friend, after all his mother always said, 'Strangers are just friends you haven't met yet', though Jaune doesn't just take that saying at face value since he saw just how horrible people could be while he trained outside the kingdom.

"Hey, you okay there? I'm Jaune, by the way," Jaune said. He brought a hand towards the girl to help her get off the ground.

"I'm fine, just having a rough arrival here at Beacon. Oh, and I'm Ruby, Ruby Rose," Ruby replied. She reached out to Jaune's outreached hand, and she used his hand to pull herself off the ground. As soon as she was up on her feet, she dusted herself of any dirt.

"I don't want to be nosy, but do you mind telling me what happened?" Jaune asked. He was hoping that she would give him some information on what happened.

"I tripped over some crabby girl's luggage. Then she yelled at me while waving a vial of Dust, and then I sneezed, and then I exploded, and then she yelled at me again, and I felt really, really bad. I just wanted her to stop yelling at me!" Ruby explained to Jaune. She then felt like dropping herself to the ground once more, but Jaune held her to prevent her from falling to the ground once more.

"Look, Ruby, please calm down and try not to let yourself fall to the ground again," Jaune said. He straightens Ruby upright to make sure that she would not fall to the ground.

"So…I got this thing!" Ruby said excitedly. She pulled out her weapon from behind her cloak, which she proceeded to shift to a Scythe. She hoped that they could move on and forget about how embarrassing it was that a boy was holding her up.

"Hmm? A scythe?" Jaune questioned. He tilted his head to the side while thinking. Then he remembered a drunk that he met outside the kingdom that also wields a scythe that mechashifts.

"It's not only a scythe! It's also a customisable high-impact sniper rifle!" Ruby shouted excitedly. She mechashifted her weapon to its sniper form to show Jaune its other forms.

"That's cool…You know, you remind me of a man that I met outside the kingdom when I was training, he had this Great Sword that mechashifts into a scythe, it even had a shotgun on it," Jaune said, he described the details of the weapon to Ruby the best he can.

"That sounds like Uncle Qrow's weapon!" Ruby shouted. She was jumping around while she told Jaune who she thought the person he met was.

"Huh? Didn't think that he would have such an energetic niece," Jaune said. He wondered how such a man could have such an adorable niece.

"So…I showed you my baby, what about yours?" Ruby asked, excited to see a new weapon.

"Baby? I don't remember you showing me a baby," Jaune replied. He thought about what she was talking about, but he couldn't think of anything.

"Your weapon, duh! My baby is my sniper scythe, Crescent Rose!" Ruby explained, she was caressing Crescent Rose like a baby to prove a point.

"Aha…? Well, I have this…." Jaune said. He put his hand on the sword that was attached to the left side of his hip.

"It's nothing fancy like a sniper scythe, but it gets the job done," Jaune continued. He pulls the sword out of its scabbard to show Ruby what it looks like.

"The sword's name is Caliburn, the very first weapon I ever received from my mentors," Jaune said. Looking at the sword brought a smile to his face. It held a lot of memories of the people that helped him get to where he is now.

"It looks beautiful! Can I hold it?!" Ruby asked excitedly, and she's never seen such a beautiful sword before in real life. The only thing that she can think of that comes close to it was from fairy tales.

"I'm sorry, Ruby. But I can't do that. Caliburn won't let anyone else touch it besides me," Jaune apologised while he sheathed the blade back to its scabbard.

"That's so Cool! How does it do that?!" Ruby asked. She was still eyeing the sword that Jaune just sheathed.

"Don't have a clue," Jaune lied, he knew that the sword he had was using magic, but he couldn't say that to Ruby. After all, magic was not common in Remnant.

"Aww…it would have been so cool if I could put that kind of feature on Crescent Rose," Ruby said. She imagined what it would be like when someone tried to pick up her weapon without her permission, and then they got zapped.

"By the way, Ruby. Do you know where we are?" Jaune asked. He looked around, but he couldn't spot any of the other students in their vicinity.

"What?! I was following you! I thought that you knew where we were going!" Ruby shouted. She looked around to find something that could inform them where they were and where they needed to go, but alas, there was nothing.

"We should head back to where we came from. Then we can either look for someone that knows where we're supposed to go or follow the other students," Jaune said. He was hoping that if they head back to their original location, they could meet with other students, or a professor might be around to ask for direction.

"That's a great idea! Come on!" Ruby shouted. She ran while tracing back her steps. Luckily, they weren't too far.

After a minute of walking and they arrived back at their original location. From there, they followed where all the other students were going. They hoped that it would lead them to the correct meeting place for all new initiates.
