After being flung into the Emerald Forest, Jaune observed his surroundings and felt a few Grimm heading in his direction. He didn't waste time and instead met with the creature of darkness to eliminate them. Jaune didn't have any issues getting rid of a few Beowolves. However, a certain red-headed spartan saw that he was fighting a dozen or so Grimm and decided to help him.
When the spartan arrived, Jaune decided to work alongside her rather than act tough and tell her that he got it, that would just be acting arrogant. One thing Jaune realise while fighting together with the spartan is that they work well together. This made Jaune smile. He found a partner that is willing to coordinate with him rather than prove that they are better. After eliminating all the Grimm, Jaune decided to make conversation with the spartan and introduce himself.
"You were great. I'm Jaune, by the way," Jaune said while putting his hand out for a handshake.
"Thank you. You're amazing as well. I'm Pyrrha Nikos. I guess you're my partner?" Pyrrha said.
"Only if you don't have one yet," Jaune said.
"In that case, then you're my partner. I hope to work well with you in the next four years of our time in Beacon," Pyrrha said.
"Likewise," Jaune said.
The two then headed north to look for the temple. When Jaune and Pyrrha got there, they weren't the first. Jaune speculated that some students were lucky enough to land within the temple itself from analysing the area. Looking around, Jaune heard rustling. He informed Pyrrha of it, and they got ready to engage the enemy, but when they saw who was making the sound, they dropped their guard, but only slightly since they were still in a hostile environment.
"Hello, Yang," Jaune said.
"Sup, Jaune. I see you got yourself a strong partner," Yang said.
"Hmm? Do you know each other?" Jaune asked.
"Nope! But I heard the girl that Ruby blew up yesterday clamour about being in a team with her. She then went on about being in a team with the strongest first year and her being the smartest," Yang said.
"Are you talking about the Schnee? Because if you are, then that girl has quite the ego," Jaune said.
"Oh, you have no idea," Blake said.
"You're just saying that because of past events," Jaune told Blake.
While talking, they all heard the trees rustling and a roaring groan of an Ursa. Not long after hearing the noise, the Ursa that they all heard emerged from the forest, but rather than attack them, the Ursa fell to the ground dead. Then suddenly, the hyperactive girl from the morning appeared from behind the Ursa. Jaune saw that the hyperactive girl used the Ursa as a mount to get to the temple.
"Aww... It's broken," The hyperactive girl said in a sad tone.
"Nora! Please don't ever do that again," the ninja from the morning shouted while panting.
"Ohhhh," Nora said.
Blake, Yang and Pyrrha were all shocked at the sight they had just seen. The girl named Nora did use a Grimm as a mount. They've never seen anyone do something like that. Jaune, on the other hand, had done the same thing a few years back. He was smacked in the head by his friend for thinking of something ridiculous ideas and going through with it. The funny thing is, it would have worked due to his Riding ability if the person he was travelling with didn't interrupt him. Jaune would have been the first person ever to tame a Grimm to become his mount.
While Jaune, Pyrrha, Blake and Yang were watching Ren and Nora, they heard the caws of a giant Nevermore. On the Talons of the Nevermore were Ruby and the crabby girl from the day before.
"Ruby! I told you this was a terrible idea!" the crabby girl said. Jaune forgot her name.
"We're fine! Stop worrying!" Ruby shouted.
"I am so far beyond worrying!" the crabby girl shouted as she tried to hold on to the Nevermore's talon.
"In a good way?" ruby asked.
"In a bad way! In a very bad way!" the crabby girls shouted, repeating her words to emphasise her point.
"Well, why don't we just jump?" Ruby asked.
"What are you? Insane?!" the crabby girl shouted angrily.
On the ground, Jaune and the others were watching the happenings in the sky. None of them could do anything in that situation since not of them are capable of flying. And the fact they didn't time as Ruby let go of the Nevermore's Talon and was plummeting to the ground.
"Hey, Yang? Your sister's falling from the sky," Jaune said.
"I can see that! What are we going to do?!" Yang shouted.
"Heads up!" Ruby shouted while she was falling.
Before Ruby could fall to the ground, Jaune acted swiftly. He unsheathed his sword from the scabbard and slashed horizontally hard enough to produce a powerful burst of wind, but he knew that would not be enough. Hence, he swung his sword while using his Aura Burst (a weaker version of Mana Burst) to strengthen the pressure of his slash, creating an air cushion for Ruby to land on softly.
When Yang saw that Ruby was on the ground, she ran towards her to check if she was okay. As Yang saw that Ruby was uninjured, she was relieved, but that moment was ruined as the crabby girl shouted since she was still hanging on the talons of the Nevermore.
"Ruby! How could you leave me?!" the crabby girl shouted.
"I said jump!" Ruby shouted while looking at the girl from the ground.
"She's gonna fall," Blake informed Ruby.
"She'll be fine," Ruby said to Blake.
"She's falling," Ren then told them.
Seeing the situation before him, Jaune decided to help the crabby girl the way he helped Ruby.
"Are you alright?" Jaune asked the white-haired girl.
"I'm just fine. Thank you for your assistance," the white-haired girl said.
"I'm Jaune, by the way," Jaune introduced himself.
"Schnee. Weiss Schnee," Weiss introduced herself.
Before they could do anything more, Jaune and Weiss were shot at by the Nevermore. The other people who saw this decided to help them out, but they couldn't do much as the Nevermore was too high up, and their weapons weren't strong enough to damage it.
The Nevermore never descended. Instead, to attack the group of teenagers on the ground, it would send a feather projectile towards them. The first few made the teenagers on the ground slightly retreat. But one lousy mistake from the Nevermore was all it took to end its life. It sent many feathers towards Jaune, who decided to use the feather as a stepping stool to reach the Nevermore.
Jaune took his last step on the last feather. Unfortunately, he was nowhere near the Nevermore yet. Still, with the usage of Aura Burst, he was able to propel himself from the last feather to reach the Nevermore, which he then decapitated with Caliburn. After killing the Nevermore, Jaune landed on the ground hard, but it didn't hurt him due to reinforcement. Instead, he caused a crater on the ground.
"Hey, Ruby! Look! I made a crater just like the one you made the other day," Jaune said with a teasing smile.
"Hey! That was an accident," Ruby shouted.
Jaune said what he said because everyone was staring at him in shock at what he had done. Yang propels herself with her Ember Celica, but not as much as Jaune did. Nora can use her Magnhild to propel herself forward with the grenade rounds of her rocket launcher, but even she couldn't do what Jaune did unless she got an upgrade. For Blake, her Gambol Shroud's ribbon was not long enough. For Pyrrha and Ren, they didn't have any weapon that allowed them to propel themselves. As for Weiss, she didn't have enough control over her Glyphs to reach such heights…yet.
"Guys! Come on! Let's pick a relic," Jaune said.
After picking their respective Relics, Jaune and the others headed back to the Beacon Cliffs and headed to the Auditorium.
"Russel Thrush, Cardin Winchester, Dove Bronzewing, Sky Lark. The four of you retrieved the black bishop pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team CRDL, led by... Cardin Winchester!" Ozpin announced. This was met with applause.
"Jaune Arc, Lie Ren, Pyrrha Nikos, Nora Valkyrie. The four of you retrieved the white rook pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team JNPR!" Ozpin announced once again. And it was again met with applause.
"And finally. Blake Belladonna, Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Yang Xiao Long. The four of you retrieved the white knight pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team RWBY. Led by... Ruby Rose!" Ozpin announced. Again, it was met with applause.
"Now. All of you follow Miss Goodwitch to your assigned dorm. Except for you, Mr Arc. I would like to speak with you," Ozpin said.
With that, Team RWBY and NPR followed Glynda just like all the other teams as they would be shown their accommodation for the next four years. As for Jaune, he was following Ozpin to the top of Beacon Academy, Aka his office.
