I think this is the longest chapter I have ever written. Please enjoy
…..
Tomura smiled wickedly at the man chained to the chair. The interrogations were one of his favorite assignments. He loved the look of desperation and pain. Breaking someone's will gave him a rush like no other.
"Now, you have two choices. You can either tell me what I want to know and have a quick and mostly painless death." He grinned madly. "Or I can turn you to dust piece by piece."
He hoped the man would choose the latter. It was always far more entertaining when he got to work for the information It got boring when then NCP gave it up instantly, what kind of game was that?
"I-i already told you!" The man said. "I don't know what you are talking about!"
Tomura turned to his tray full of all kinds of fun tools. He wanted to build up to using his quirk; there were plenty of other things he could use for torture. He picked up a knife carefully with four fingers.
"Either way you will tell me." He said as he gently ran the blade over the man's cheek. "You get to choose how much pain you have to endure first."
The man winced as he pierced the skin and slashed the blade down his cheek. Tomura hummed happily at the sight of the blood. It was a nice start, but he could do better than that. He turned back to the table of toys and made a show of how he picked up and admired a pair of pliers.
"I don't know!" He insisted again.
Tomura clicked his tongue. "Do you really-"
His phone dinged. The villain sighed as he put the tool down to look at his messages.
Old Lady: Can you pick up drinks for tonight?
Tomura smiled at his phone. Ever since their last fight, both he and Izuku had both drifted apart. He had gotten more and more assignments, while his little brother was probably spent his time training for the UA exam; not that it was going to make any difference. But tonight it was the Broccoli Boy's birthday. He never missed his birthday before, and he did not plan on starting tonight. Besides, it took him far too long to figure out the perfect gift for it to go to waste.
If I must. See you at 7
The sound of quiet sobs reminded him of his surroundings. He pocketed his phone and returned his attention to the current level he needed to finish. He could not allow himself to get distracted.
"Now where were we?" He smirked down at the man.
…..
A few hours later, Tomura juggled a few grocery bags full of soft drinks as well as Izuku's presents between his arms. Since his arms were full, he used his foot to knock on the door.
Inko opened it a few seconds later and he was greeted with a warm smile.
"I was unsure who was at the door." Inko stated, "You normally don't knock."
Tomura rolled his eyes. "Well, my hands are full. I did not want to risk ruining the doorknob."
Not again at least.
"Yes. I would appreciate not having to replace it again. Thank you."
Despite his effort to act annoyed, he could not help the small smile that came across his face. Over the several years and against his better judgment, he had grown fond of this NCP. Not that it was his fault; he had to tolerate her to spend time with his brother, and her smile was almost as infectious as Izuku's.
"I made you a snack." The woman said warmly as she took the bag of drinks from him. "I know how you tend to forget to eat."
He wanted nothing more than to hate her when he first met her. She was the reason that Izuku could not come to live with him. He thought she was unable to protect the boy and that he would be so much better off with him. She was suspicious of him as well, as he was older than most kids six-year-olds hung out with But he learned how much she meant to Izu, and he had already lost his father. So he got used to her presence and she did the same with him. It slowly changed to fondness.
"I do not forget to eat." He growled as he set the presents down and put the drinks on the counter.
"Your skinny self says otherwise." The woman teased lightly.
Inko was dam lucky she was who she was. Anyone else who disrespected him would be nothing but ash. Of course, it did not help that the woman did not find him intimidating at all. If he tried to attack her, she probably just give him a motherly glare that certainly did not scare him. Nope, not at all.
"Where is Izu?" He asked.
"He went for a quick jog. A part of his new training regime." Inko stated.
Tomura's frown deepened. "It's not gonna matter what shape he is in. They are never going to let him in."
Inko was silent for few seconds. "I suppose that is why you haven't been around in a while."
Tomura could not help but roll his eyes. "Yes, we got into a slight disagreement a few months ago."
He was far from happy when he found out Izuku was still gonna apply to UA. After all these years, his little brother refused to see the world for how it really was. No matter how many times he faced discrimination, Izuku still thought he belonged in the toxic hero world.
They argued about it like they had done hundreds of times before. This time he said things he regretted and it escalated. His brother ended up storming out. But Tomura talked it over with Sensei. Once UA and every other hero school rejected him, Izu would finally start to see reason. It would be the perfect opportunity for Tomura to begin to lead him towards villainy.
"He may have kept himself busy, but I know he has missed you deeply," Inko stated. "So please, no fighting tonight."
They still texted occasionally, sometimes played games online together. Yet, it was still strained. Izuku had been with him for years, and he noticed his absence very much. He wanted nothing more than his brother back by his side.
"I came here to see him and eat your cake. I don't plan on starting anything." He promised. "Besides, I spent hours trying to figure out a decent gift for him and I won't let his hero complex ruin it."
Izuku walked in a few seconds later. The moment his eyes landed on Tomura, his all two familiar beaming smile crossed his features. Within moments his brother tackled Shigarki in a hug. In which he noticed that he was very sweaty and definitely more muscular than he remembered.
"You came!" Izuku chirped.
"Don't act so surprised. When have I ever missed your birthday?" Tomura stated with a fond grin as he pulled away from the hug.
"Well, mom's cake is pretty good." Izuku chuckled.
"Dam straight it is," Tomura stated as he carefully ruffled his hair with four fingers. "Seeing you is just a bonus."
Izuku's grin faded a bit."You are not still mad, are you?" He asked.
"While my option has not changed-" He noticed the look from Inko. "That does not matter. It is your birthday and I am your brother. Not to mention I spent hours trying to figure out your gift, so I think we can both suck it up."
Izuku smiled softly at him. "Yea, I guess we can do that."
Tomura glanced back at Inko and she nodded at him in thanks. He knew that she was right, some things were more important right now.
Besides, Izuku would see the truth eventually. It would take time. But when it did happen, Tomura would be there for him. He would be by his side as he lead his little brother down the path of villainy. With him by his side, taking down the heroes would be a piece of cake.
"Alright, you two," Inko said. "We can get to cake and presents later. Dinner should be first. I made Katsudon."
The thought of Inko's cooking sounded pretty good, much better than the shit Kugori made. He definitely missed it now that he had spent less time here during the past few months. He had spent a lot of time in this apartment, growing up alongside Izuku and eating Inko's food. It felt odd being away for so long.
They all sat around the table and Tomura shifted into the same comfort he knew as a child. His life here was greatly different from his life back at home. Back home he was being prepped to be able to destroy the hero world, meanwhile here was the semi-normal family he could never have. They Midoryia's had no idea of his villainous life, and he intended to keep it that way until Izuku was ready to join him.
Eventually, dinner was finished and it was finally time for gifts. Tomura moved over to the two packages and grabbed the slightly larger, and much better wrapped, present. He handed it to a very excited Izuku.
"This one is from Kugori. As usual, he is busy, but he wanted me to wish you a happy birthday and that he misses you." Tomura explained. "Well, hurry up and open it so we can get to my gift."
Izuku tore into the gift. He squealed in glee and held it to his chest. "A crystal chess set! This is beautiful! I love it so much! I can't wait to play it with him!"
Kugori noticed how impressive Izuku's mind was when they were quite young. He had helped convince Sensei what an asset that Izuku would be to the team. So ever since then, they both pushed him to expand his mind. Kugori introduced the boy to chess in hopes to help his battle strategy. Kugori taught him how to play on the bartop, and Izuku fell absolutely in love with it. The pair played for countless hours, of course, Tomura stuck to his video games. Izuku ended up scary good at the game. Kugori had not won a game in years, but still found time to play with him.
"Alright. Alright." Tomura stated with an eye roll. "I get it, you love it. Now get to mine."
He absolutely refused to buy his little brother a hero march, so he had to get creative with presents for Izuku. He was pretty proud at this one.
"A camera?" Izuku asked.
"A polaroid," Tomura explained. "It is for your quirk analysts. Instead of drawing pictures, you can have an instant image. You might seem like a stalker, but you already do so you don't have to worry about it."
While Tomura knew that Izuku's notebooks were originally created for him to be a hero, Tomura could not ignore the pure gold that was in them. His notebooks held such valuable information that it was hard to believe a fourteen-year-old wrote them. He was so observant and connected dots that no one else could see. Tomura did everything he could to urge Izuku to continue writing and perfecting his skill. Including buying him nice notebooks, writing supplies, and so on. He personally thought the polaroid was a stroke of genius idea on his part.
Izuku tackled Tomura in another hug and interrupted his thoughts. He looked down to see his brother start to tear up.
"Thank you, I love it."
"You better use it." He stated. "Because I am going to make sure you have all the film you need."
"I will!" Izuku chirped. "This would make it so much easier to get action shots, I won't have to look up pictures online and print them out. It can speed up my writing process as well and look back on the pictures later for further..."
Tomura just let the boy mumble, despite the fact that he only caught part of it. He knew everyone often interrupted or put him down while he was mumbling, especially his peers and teachers. They did not think a quirkiness boy could say anything worthwhile. So Tomura always made sure to let Izuku express his thoughts, even if he could barely understand most of it sometimes.
It was frustrating that Izuku had such low self-esteem. His analysis skills could easily match a pro, if not more. His poor little brother could only focus on the fact that he did not have a quirk. Nor could Izuku realize that it was the system his beloved hero set up that made him feel like that. Tomura knew that even if Izuku was the smartest and strongest man in the world, without a quirk he would still be considered trash by the hero community. They would never accept Izuku as they would never accept Tomura. They were one in the same.
"Will you take a picture with me?" Izuku asked hopefully.
"Absolutely no-" He looked down at his brother and his pleading eyes. No, he was a professional villain; He would not cave to this broccoli boy and his puppy dog eyes. He would not- Dammit
"Fine, one picture."
He was nearly blinded by the beaming smile aimed at him. Shigaraki rolled his eyes and wrapped his arm around the other while Izuku positioned the camera to face them. He allowed for a small smirk to come across his features as the camera flashed. He then watched as his brother excitedly waited for the picture to come out.
Eventually, the picture came out, and Izuku looked at it in amazement. "I love it! Now I finally have a picture of the pair of us!"
"Happy Birthday, you brat." He grumbled.
"How about we cut the cake?" Inko asked.
"Actually, I have some news. "I wanted to wait until we were all together to share. My UA letter came." Izuku said
Here it was. He was gonna be upset, but Tomura was gonna hold him up. He would always support him. This heartbreak may be the-
"I have been accepted. I got in!"
His heart froze. No, he must have heard him wrong.
"That is great, Baby! I am so proud of you!" Inko gushed.
"Wait," Tomura said. "They actually let you in the general end class?"
"Actually-" Izuku started nervously. . "Er… yep. I was accepted!"
Tomura had thrown many fits in his life. Some may even say he say he had a few anger issues, of course, anyone who ever dared said that was dead. He simply had rather dramatic reactions. But in this instant, he felt eerily calm.
"That is awesome, Izu." He said with a forced smile. "About time someone has finally seen your worth."
"You mean it?"
Tomura nodded as the pit in his stomach formed. "My views on hero society may be….. strong. But what matters now is someone besides me finally saw your potential. That is all that matters."
He tried his best not to react to the pang in his heart when he saw his baby brother had tears of joy in the corner of his eyes.
"Tomura….."
Oh God, he looked so happy. It was beyond wrong. This was supposed to be the moment Izuku finally started to see things from his perceptive. This was going to be the start of something great. But instead, his brother looked at him with what he could only express as pure joy and he could not take it.
He looked away. "Enough with the sappy stuff. I want cake."
The rest of the night passed, but he spent it lost in thought. Because now he knew what he had to do. It had always been an option, but he prayed he never have to resort to it. Prayed that his brother would eventually see his side of things. But it was apparently not meant to be.
They had big plans for UA this year. Even if his brother was not in the hero course, it would still be extremely dangerous for both of them with their close relationship. It could be detrimental to their plans, and it could ruin his brother's life.
There was no future for a villain and a UA student. Tomura was ready to burn the hero system down to the ground or die with it. He had hoped his brother be by his side, but it looked like it was not gonna happen. As much as it broke his heart, he needed to do what was necessary.
