815 Citizen Joe
Carter was in charge of the base overnight and that was because Jack was intent on giving her as much command experience as possible. He knew this would aid in her career moves in the future. She gave him a call to report on the events of her shift - all was well, nothing was expected and nothing happened. So they chatted for a while. He wanted to invite her over for breakfast, he had the ingredients and since she had nothing planned. That of course was until Jack was interrupted by a man with a plastic gun.
Jack felt bad for the barber. So much pain in O'Neill's life that he couldn't express was fobbed off on this helpless individual. And Jack enjoyed sharing in the tranquility and simple pleasures of Joe the barber's life.
Jack's failure to express emotion in his private life, as well as his compartmentalization of his military life helped destroy his marriage. The barber's effusive emotional outbursts by being consumed in Jack's life and sharing it, to anyone who would listen, caused a break in his marriage.
Jack had been on the phone with Carter when their planless weekend was now filled with controlling the problem of the barber. Luckily most of the breach of information was settled by the failed tv show Wormhole X-treme. O'Neill agreed to meet with the barber's wife to assure her that her husband wasn't totally bonkers.
This left Jack's Sunday night free. He asked the team over for a barbeque but Daniel was still recuperating and begged off for an early night. Teal'c had a call to the Free Jaffa and Rya'c in particular scheduled. This left only Sam and she babbled but he got the message of her not wanting to be alone with him. So he smiled and let her off easy and went home alone.
His Monday was looking dismal with the first thing scheduled was a politically charged meeting to discuss Kinsey and the Russians.
