After finding out about the rather gruesome prank night that had gone down, I was kinda glad that I opted not to go, though now that I knew Klaus was back in town, I figured things were probably going to get messy again. Glad I opted to stay out of that friendship group, all they ever seem to do is attract danger and trouble. Two things I could seriously do without. Of course I prepared myself for a little Klaus drop in at any moment, but so far it seemed he was keeping his distance and I was cool with that, but as for Stefan, things had taken a dark turn with him.

From what I'd gathered, he'd been forced to switch off his humanity and now he was lingering around Elena like a pest in order to protect her at Klaus's order, because apparently he can't create more hybrids without her blood which really sucks because I'd inadvertently been the one to provide him with the means to make his hybrids because I'd saved Elena from death. Way to go Lia, this is what you get for letting yourself get involved. Oh well, too late to do anything now, and I have my own problem to deal with, namely a certain blonde Original who had attached herself to my side.

She'd decided to join me for lunch, though she hadn't brought anything to eat since apparently cafeteria food was 'beneath her' as she later told me, since it looked and smelled gross and to be honest, I didn't blame her for that one. "Rebekah." Not even bothering to look up from my sketch, I sensed her surprise as she paused slightly from getting herself comfortable.

"You know me. Ah right, Nik mentioned you could see things before they happened." She seemed to remember, pursing her lips at me as I finally lifted my head. Her eyes scanned me up and down, taking in my loose shirt and plain shirt with shorts, my frizzy hair a bright copper red as it lay wildly around my head. "So you're the druid."

"And you're the Original vampire." I returned calmly, giving her a little smile as I folded my arms over the table. "I'm guessing your brother Klaus told you about me."

"Yes, and before he skipped town and left me behind, he suggested that it would be a good idea to keep a close eye on you. Since the bastard isn't answering any of my calls and I have no idea where he is, I figure I should attempt to integrate my life with the rest of you and seeing as you clearly have little to nothing to do with the rest of them, you seem like a good place to start." Catching on quickly, I couldn't help but be amused by her bluntness, her clear spoken accent making her sound all the more pretentious but I found I didn't mind it.

"So you're looking for a friend."

"A distraction." Rebekah clarified, twirling her hair around her finger. "I'm already bored out of my mind and will probably start looking for someone to sink my teeth into unless something interesting happens." Inwardly I sighed. So Klaus had run away from Mystic Falls for some reason and now I was dumped with his sister, one who seemed like she had a shorter fuse and a bigger temper as well as a greater inclination to eat and feed whenever she wanted. Why do I have to be suck with vampire babysitting duty? It's not like I can just turn her away and let her loose in town, because that would suck. Literally.

"Well there's a bonfire tonight to celebrate the new school year if you wanted to check out a modern day party. I take it you'd be interested in something like that?" Intrigued, her eyes seemed to light up with an almost childlike innocence which made me smile at her as she betrayed her inner feelings.

"Will you be going?"

"I wasn't planning on it, but if you feel like you want some company, then I'd be open to some persuasion." For the first time, Rebekah smiled at me genuinely. There was a hint of relief there too, like she was glad somebody was actually talking to her and not pushing her away as one of the villains. It didn't bother me at all knowing what she was and who she was related to, even after hearing about what had happened last night. "I'm Ophelia Martin-Jones, but you can just call me Lia."

"Alright, Lia it is then."

"Can I call you Bekah?" Slightly taken aback that I wanted to be on casual terms with her, Rebekah played it off flippantly but I could tell she was rather pleased that I was being friendly. "So what's your story Bekah? How come you weren't with Klaus when he first rolled into town?"

"Because he had me locked up in a coffin with a dagger in my heart since the twenties and carted me around with the rest of my siblings." Okay, that time I did drop my jaw slightly.

"Damn, your brother sounds like a real dick." Grinning slightly, Rebekah began to tell me a little bit about herself as I listened and continued to draw, asking her a few questions and generally getting to know one another. She asked me things about the others like Caroline and Tyler, particularly Tyler, as well as how to properly fit into a high school life and become glamorously popular. "Well for starters if you want to fit into the status quo of a high school girl, you're going to want to try out for the cheerleading squad. That will get you into all the right social circles, and from there all the hot, muscular jocks will notice you since you're pretty." Her brow pulled together slightly in confusion.

"Jocks?"

"Athletes, plenty of muscles, stamina and generally very good looking. Every girl's secret dream." Appreciating the insight, Rebekah then asked me if since I knew exactly how to fit in and had the looks to get by, why wasn't I doing all those things? "Because I don't like being surrounded by too many people, it's exhausting being a people pleaser. So, what else do you want to know about the twenty first century?" We spent the rest of the lunch hour talking together, me giving Rebekah a crash course in modern society and technology.

Rebekah was cool, I guess, so I didn't exactly mind her company, though almost the minute we parted ways I was faced with Elena who was glowering at me darkly. "What are you doing?"

"Going to class?" I returned blankly, trying to step aside to go around her but she followed me, blocking me off so I sighed in irritation then gave her a look. "Whatever it is you have a problem with Elena, just spit it out."

"My problem is you getting close with Rebekah. She's one of them, Lia, one of the Originals. She's dangerous and you should stay away from her."

"Funny, she didn't seem all that dangerous to me. She was as soft hearted as a kitten." My voice dripping with sarcasm, I gave a smirk as I folded my arms, still facing off with Elena who continued to block my way with that righteous, do-gooder attitude of hers. "Relax Elena, I can handle myself and frankly, who I talk to is none of your business."

"That's not the point. Do you even know what happened last night? She helped Klaus kill two people and turn Tyler into a hybrid before I almost got drained of my blood. She's not your friend, she's just trying to get close to you because they want something, they want to get to me through you." Ugh, why did everything have to be about Elena? Seriously, she was the most annoying personality vacuum I had ever come across, and the more I talked to her the more I couldn't stand it.

"For the record, yes I did hear what happened last night since Caroline just insists on posting me updates even though I told her to stop, and honestly I couldn't care less." Shrugging carelessly, I then reached out and tugged at Elena's scarf. "I see your so called boyfriend took a bite out of you. Hurts, doesn't it? I warned you to save yourself the heartache but of course, the all knowing Elena Gilbert just wouldn't listen because she's so in love and because of that, everything will be cupcakes and rainbows one way or another, no matter how many bodies you have to step over to get your happily ever after." Rolling my eyes at her, Elena flinched back as if hurt or offended, but again, I didn't care. "Let me make something as crystal clear as possible. I do not care about what happens to you, your boyfriend, your other boyfriend, or anyone else. I'm not your friend or your ally, so don't come to me begging for help, because you're unlikely to get it."

"No, no, that can't be true, I mean you…you helped Alaric, you saved him from being possessed by Klaus. You helped us." She was either playing at being dumb or she really was this dense. By this point I couldn't tell which.

"I felt like earning a little extra credit, that's all. Now if you'll excuse me, I have class to get to." Elena tried to stop me, telling me that she wanted to talk about this but I ignored her and slid her out of my way with one arm, though she tripped after stumbling and bumped against the lockers we were standing next to and next thing I knew, Stefan was standing in my way.

"You should be more careful, you know. Klaus told me to guard Elena but he didn't mention anything about keeping you alive." He said to me, eyes darkening as the black veins of his vampire bloodthirstiness began to appear. "So if you hurt her, I will kill you."

"Oh get over yourself Stefan, you're not scaring anyone here, least of all me." Before his hand could dart out for my throat I narrowed my eyes in focus, using magic to give him a headache so severe that he gaped, unable to even make a sound as he grasped at his head and began to stagger, completely overwhelmed until all at once, I let him go and he could breathe again. "If you ever threaten me again, a headache will be the least of your worries." Now thoroughly done with the both of them, I stalked away bristling in annoyance and spent the rest of my day brooding over just how infuriating some people could be.
