Knowing that Mattie was in danger being a hostage of the vampire hunter that had escaped from Klaus's hybrids, I figured maybe it was time I did a little more hero work. I mean, I'm pretty sure this guy, Connor, had Jeremy and someone else as hostage and according to my vision this morning, it wasn't going to end prettily. So, what the hell? I've got nothing else on today. Striding confidently across the street, I walked straight into the Grill where this guy had literally set up an arsenal of bombs with I don't even want to know what kind of vampire lethal concoction this guy has cooked up. The moment I came into view he had a weapon trained on me, a handgun, moving forwards as he picked me out as a potential threat. "Easy buddy, just here to talk." I lifted my hands, signalling that I wasn't a threat. Sort of.
"You one of them?" He asked me so I frowned for a moment, not following until it clicked.
"Oh, you mean a vampire? Nah I'm not one of them. See? No vampire radar here." I took a step closer and Connor considered a moment before accepting my words, though he kept the weapon trained on me. "Look, I get you're all about ridding the world of the great evil and this is your 'destiny' or whatever, but really you're a pain in the ass and you have my friend here. Can I just get him out please?" I requested, making Connor frown at me as Jeremy gradually revealed himself from behind the bar counter. "Oh hey Jer, didn't see you there."
"Hey, um…Lia?" Needing a second to remember my name, I flashed him a grin.
"That your friend?" Connor asked me, weapon still raised at me.
"Nope, my friend's the good looking blond guy. Hey Matt!" I called, raising my voice so he could hear me from within the storage unit. "You wanna come out here a sec?" Snapping my fingers the door unlocked, a pause following before it was quickly pulled open and Matt appeared, April clinging to the back of his shirt as he kept her hidden behind him. "Oh hey April, what's up?"
"Lia, everything good?" Matt asked slowly as Connor began to frown, turning his gun on Matt.
"Get back in there! You stay in there until I tell you to come out." He ordered, making April whimper. "How did…how did you unlock the door? Get back and close the door!"
"Jeez, calm down. You're not helping your situation here at all." I said, waving Matt over to me then did the same to Jeremy, indicating he should come over and stand behind me.
"No, no, don't move! Nobody move or I will shoot!" Connor shouted sharply, causing April's tears to intensify as I started to weave my magic.
"Go ahead, try it. Shoot someone. I dare you, but you should probably know exactly who you're up against." Around us the lights begun to flicker before brightening, gleaming as the entire building started to tremble from the air to the foundations as I focused entirely on Connor. Using this moment to rush to me, Matt dragged April along with him and Jeremy dove over to my side, figuring I was a safer bet than the vampire killing enthused hunter. Connor looked totally freaked out now, staggering under the quaking before he then tried to shoot.
The bullet exploded from the mouth of the barrel and came flying towards us, April now screaming as Jeremy and Matt both ducked down, flinching instinctively. Matt covered April's head as I narrowed my eyes and my hair rose on a breeze as the bullet struck an invisible barrier, becoming wedged in the protective shield I'd already raised around us, making it hover in the air with a tremor of vibration before it then dropped with a clatter. Connor stared at me, lowering his gun slightly. "So here's what's going to happen." I announced, folding my arms. "You're going to let me leave with these guys, and you're going to get the hell out of here, because otherwise you're going to get yourself killed. Pissing off a bunch of vampires by taking their friends and family hostage was not a smart plan, so I'm gonna go ahead and let you get out of here."
"I'm not going anywhere, and neither are you." Connor told us darkly, before all at once lifting his gun again to shoot. He emptied a clip trying to make a bullet land, aiming as he moved across the front of the bar then set off one of the bombs to make it explode, nails, glass and liquid flying everywhere. My force field held, protecting all four of us from any kind of harm as the debris dropped off it after it lost momentum, allowing gravity to do the rest as I yawned, emphasising the fact that I was bored. I thought being all heroic would be way more interesting.
Pulling a hand upwards, I caused the gun in Connor's hand to heat up to the point where he had to drop it from shock, scorching the top layer of his hands as I then flicked out a finger like I was conducting an orchestra to pull his feet out from underneath him, making him hit the bar before I slid him up and down, knocking his head against a couple glasses before then throwing him against a wall. I had fun playing him like a puppet, driving the point home that he had made a very big mistake when he messed with Matt and inconvenienced me having to come out to town to come and rescue people. Guess being a hero really wasn't my thing after all.
"Lia. Lia that's enough! Lia!" Clicking my tongue I listened to Matt as he suddenly grabbed my shoulder, insisting that I was going too far. No fun. Oh well, guess I can't exactly kill the guy. I let him go, now beaten up and bleeding a little from a few injuries he'd sustained and stayed down on the floor, unmoving. He's fine. I can tell he's still alive. "Lia, did you…?"
"He's not dead. I still have a policy against killing people."
"But beating them up is fine?" Jeremy questioned and I paused a second, recognising that my morals were a little crooked, but I didn't particularly care.
"What? He threatened Matt and was going to kill you guys unless every vampire in town turned themselves over, right? What's the problem here? If anything you should be thanking me. I got involved for once." I reasoned, dropping the protective spell around us as April continued her sobbing and crying, holding onto Matt who was trying to reassure her everything was okay. Ugh, crocodile tears. Pull yourself together girl, the guy's unconscious it's not like he can hurt you. Just then I saw Stefan lingering at the storage room door, looking in on the situation and when he clocked that Connor was out, he then looked at me rather intensely. "Why don't you guys get out of here?" I suggested, turning around to the three of them. "Get April compelled, you know, I'll deal with stuff here."
"You sure?" Matt asked me so I assured him it was fine. "Thank you, Lia. I'm glad you showed up when you did, but how did you know…?"
"I told you I keep an eye on things, Mattie. Besides, he made the astronomical mistake of choosing you as one of his hostages. No one messes with my friends." Giving him a smile, I ushered them all out the door almost a little too eagerly, closing it on them so that when I turned around, Stefan and I could talk freely. "So, you're here for him?"
"We need him alive, Lia. I'm not going to let you kill him." Stefan told me tersely, stalking forwards ready to fight so I rolled my eyes.
"Jesus, relax. I already said I don't kill people, though beating them up isn't something I'm against. He's all yours." I invited, flicking my wrist and Connor's unconscious form flew up to smack against Stefan, making him grunt as he was forced to juggle the guy's weight, struggling for a moment before slinging him over a table.
"What's your agenda, Lia? Why are you getting involved now?" Stefan asked me, still watching me with that dark look of suspicion.
"That's my business and none of yours. If I were you I'd get out of here with him before Elena shows up. Just to warn you and give you a head's up because I'm feeling nice today, she's been sired to Damon, which means she'll do anything he says and he's told her to kill him." I pointed at Connor as Stefan's face dropped in alarm before it then resumed that same, brooding look of his. Jeez, does the guy never smile?
"That's impossible. Elena can't be…"
"Think about it. Think real hard, Stefan, and you'll get there. I'm just saving you a lot of time trying to figure it out on your own. Now get out of here, Elena's coming and she will kill him. Oh, and Damon's also on his way, so I'd move fast if I were you." Giving him fair and free advice, I turned around and snapped my fingers rather coolly, using magic to spill magic into the air, fixing things that were broken down to the last shard of glass. "I'll leave it to you guys to clean up the rest. Have fun." Flicking out my hand I made for the door, reaching out to pull it open then left Stefan standing in a stupor, smirking to myself with smug satisfaction.
