I was home when I awoke. At first everything was dark and for a few moments, I feared I truly had gone blind but once I had properly regained my senses, I realised that I simply had a bandage wrapped around my eyes. Pulling it free I blinked a few times, my blurred vision gradually returning to normal until I could see perfectly once more. Looking down at my hands I flexed my fingers, testing their dexterity before then looking about. My room was as pristine as usual, however there was a singular addition which was out of place but not unwelcome. Sasuke.

He was asleep at the end of my bed, resting his head on his arms and breathing lightly. My heart fluttered with warmth, admiring his cuteness and angelic sleeping face before carefully drawing aside my covers to get out of bed. Good, my strength had returned, at least I did not have to worry about that any longer. Turning towards Sasuke, I leaned over him for a moment to watch him sleep a little longer. He really was the cutest thing, ever since he was a baby. I'm glad he has not lost his pretty looks at all even whilst growing up.

Brushing aside his hair I finally slid my arms underneath him, lifting him up in order to carry him back to his own room, for I could see that it was late in the evening and no doubt he has not slept very well at all since we returned. Seeing as I do not remember the return journey, I presume that it was Kakashi who carried me back and Sasuke who has been taking care of me since. I must remember to thank his teacher for his care despite his injuries. Perhaps another fruit basket will suffice?

Shaking my head, I disregarded the thought for the moment as it was unimportant for the time being. What mattered most was Sasuke. It had truly terrified me to think that I had come so close to losing him, that I might have lost him forever had I not reached him in time. Laying him down on his own bed I pulled up his covers and tucked him in a little like I used to when he was but a child and still utterly enthralled by my presence. I wished I could go back to such a time and stay there, when our lives were nothing but happiness and days spent in play together.

Unwittingly I had begun stroking Sasuke's hair, mindlessly showing my affection and once I realised what I was doing, I blinked before gasping softly in surprise. "So this is an affectionate gesture…" I was pleased that I had finally found a means to show affection through physical contact, however I suppose it does not entirely count as Sasuke was asleep. Never mind, perhaps next time. Satisfied that all would be well from now on, I leaned a little lower and kissed Sasuke goodnight, something I had not done in a very long time. "Sweet dreams, Sasuke. I will always be here for you."

When I rose from the bed the dip I had created receded, so I moved as quietly as possible then closed the door behind me. It was nearly midnight, so there was very little I could do except perhaps see to some cleaning before I could consider going back to bed again. There was a fine layer of dust beginning to settle which was utterly unacceptable, so I set to work in dusting and polishing every surface possible which took up several hours, carrying me into the early morning.

Now that I felt a little more refreshed, I returned to bed and slept a little more until finally waking up at my usual time, bright eyed and awake. Like clockwork I got myself up, washed, dressed and prepared breakfast for Sasuke, ensuring that he would a healthy balance before setting everything neatly up on the table for him. By the time I had finished, Sasuke had only just emerged from his bedroom, everything running smoothly together as he came to the table where I sat patiently for him.

He sat down and began his meal in silence, saying nothing to me exactly as our mornings usually passed, though I was a little disappointed. I had hoped that we would at least talk of something, perhaps I should initiate the conversation, but what if Sasuke ignores me? What do I even talk about? The weather was a mundane topic, and nothing else came to mind. As my luck would have it, just as I had planned exactly what to say and how our conversation would proceed, as well as inwardly practicing to ensure I would not make a mistake, Sasuke had finished his food and stood up from the table, carrying his utensils over to the kitchen then made for the door. "Um…" I wilted, berating myself for not acting sooner.

Getting up I followed Sasuke to the door, holding my hands in front of me as I watched him put on his shoes before then heading outside to meet his team for training and a possible new mission. Just as Sasuke passed under the frame, however, he paused a moment as if he had forgotten something. "Thank you." He finally spoke and I felt uplifted as he turned around to look at me. "For rescuing me." I was happy to hear him thank me honestly and I dared to hope that this may mean that he had forgiven me for poking him in the head earlier.

"Have a good day, Sasuke." Bending down I reached out for his wrist and pulled it towards me, closing my eyes as I placed a kiss on the inside of his wrist like I had done before, hoping that he would understand my intent to tell him how special he was to me. Flushing with embarrassment, Sasuke did not snatch his hand back and actually waited until I had let him go before pulling back.

"W-Whatever. I'll be back later, but don't wait up for me!" He insisted hurriedly before dashing away, disappearing from sight within seconds. I allowed myself to chuckle a little before closing the door and returning inside, already settled to begin my daily routine once more and continue as if nothing had ever happened, for I liked it best when my life ran smoothly and without interruption.
