AN: Greetings my friends. Two chapters in one day, gosh I love it when that happens. It doesn't happen often enough. I hope you all enjoyed the last chapter and will continue to enjoy what I do with this story. Please note that none of my stories have been abandoned, I've simply had writer's block and lots of it and have been unable to write. Anyways today is Thursday 10/14/21 and this is the second chapter today. Anything you recognize is JK Rowling's and anything you don't is mine.
Hermione POV
Three hours later we were done with the read through. Not only did the people who had parts read their lines but Dora read all of the stage directions as well. Thankfully there had been platters of sandwiches that refilled themselves and pitchers of pumpkin juice.
"Okay everyone, great read through!" Dora said, clapping her hands together.
"Before you all go we still have some things to go over and give out." Ron said, roughly clearing his voice, looking rather uncomfortable as everyone in the room turned to look at him.
"We have the breakdown of scenes for each character and where and when they are needed. There are also calendars for when there will be dancing lessons, singing lessons, and acting lessons. Please anyone from sixth years or under, do not grab one of these sheets. We have separate calendars for you depending on which year you are in.
"When you are in your Muggle Studies classes you will be working on the Phantom of the Opera. We planned it around each Professor's free period so they will be joining you during Muggle Studies so you can work on your props or costumes or whatever it is you will be doing for the show." Dora finished looking around the room. Some of the students were nodding but most looked concerned.
"Please come up here when I call your name and grab the papers we have for you." Ron said, pulling out a large stack of papers held together with rubber bands.
"Severus Snape." You could all but hear a pin drop as Snape pushed back his seat and glided over to Ron for his papers. The way he moved, I could almost picture him as the Phantom. He only needed a cape and mask. I watched him as he walked out of the room purposefully. A swooping sensation dipped through my stomach and I shivered.
"Hermione Granger." I jumped and quickly got up from my seat. Ron gave me my papers, not looking me in the eye, I think he was uncomfortable with all of this. As I strode out of the room I quickly looked over the calendar and groaned. I was needed almost every day for one thing or another for the next five months. Bloody hell. If it wasn't during the day it was after dinner and before curfew. And it looked like my first rehearsal would be on Monday with Snape and Colin. Bloody brilliant...
Colin POV
I quickly ate a mint as I made my way through the corridor, my script under my arm. It was the first rehearsal and my stomach was churning with nerves. Oh man I hadn't done a show in years and my pulse was hammering.
The door to the unused classroom where we had done our audition was open. Pinned to the door was a giant sign.
Keep all egos at the door. We use first names only here. No giving detention for a student using a professor's first name. No magic will be used beyond this point unless in case of emergency or you have been given instruction to do so. If anyone has issues with this please speak to Minister Shaklebolt.
I quickly ran through the door and came to a stop blinking quickly. The auditions had only been last week but a lot had changed in the room. Posters from the Broadway show were all over the walls, as if to remind us of why we were here. The hard floor and tape were still there but an assortment of chairs and tables lined the edge of the room. Hermione was sitting in one and flipping through her script while Snape twisted his wand in his hand as he stared out the window across the room from her.
"Mr. Creevey, thank you for joining us." Dora said from the front of the room next to Ron, her arms crossed. Hermione and S-Severus, that would be hard to remember, made their way onto the makeshift stage. Severus looked at me cooly but Hermione gave me a timid smile.
"Okay, we are going to start with the staging. If anyone needs a quill or ink we have plenty up front by Ron," she pointed to where Ron was sitting behind a desk in front of what would have been center stage. "Now for those of you who have never been in a play before, staging is what it's called where I tell you to move or stand. It is not choreography that will come later. Please mark down in your scripts where I have you stand so you don't forget, I can't re-stage a scene every time we come to practice.
"Now we will be doing Act 2 Scene 9 Beyond the Lake. This is when the Phantom takes Christine for the second time down to his lair. So Hermione, it will be hard to imagine but you will have entered onto the stage on a motorized boat. Severus, you will be roughly dragging her out of the boat. Now I need you to keep in mind that Hermione will be wearing a dress with three crinolines to make it as poofy as possible. I also need you to remember that you can hurt her if you are not careful."
Severus flicked a glance at Hermione then looked away. "I will do my best not to hurt you."
"I know Severus." Hermione said with a pretty flush spreading across her cheeks.
Dora flicked a look between the two of them then shook her head. "Okay, let's continue."
AN: Please review friends! It means so much to me guys and it helps me get out chapters faster!
