Chapter 1: Invitation

6 months had passed since the Dark Signers had been defeated and The Earthbound Immortals sealed away, and life had returned to normal in New Domino City and Satellite. Well, not quite.

As had been promised by Goodwin, The Daedalus Bridge was finally completed, connecting New Domino and Satellite at last. With that, Satellite began rebuilding, with help from the City whenever possible. While it was still nowhere near as beautiful as their sister city, the town that was once Domino City was finally beginning to look like it once did, and its residents finally had hope once more.

As for our heroes, they had returned to their normal lives, though things were certainly different. Akiza, now with a better hold on her Psychic Powers, reconnected with her family. It took time, but the family was finally whole once more, with her father and mother promising not to ignore her anymore. When Fall came around again, Akiza intended to reenroll in Duel Academy.

Leo and Luna returned to their Tops apartment, though they visited their new friends every day. Like Akiza, they too had been enrolled in Duel Academy for the next school year, and Leo wouldn't stop talking about how excited he was to start, and although Luna was nervous she too couldn't help but look forward to the next year.

As for Jack, Crow, and Yusei, they had moved in together into a small house in New Domino. Looking to rekindle their friendship, the three had opened a small business repairing Duel Runners. Like the one they were working on now...

"Alright Jack, floor it!"

"You've got it!"

Jack did just that, spiking the energy readings, much to Yusei and Crow's content.

"Alright Jack, you can stop now!"

"No way, let's see how far this baby can really go!"

"Jack, don't!"

But Jack, in his ego enhanced state, revved the engine even farther, causing sparks to fly from the frame.

"Jack, you need to stop! The engine's going too-"

BOOM!

"...Explode."

None of them were seriously hurt, but the duel runner they had been working on was totaled. Crow immediately turned on Jack.

"What the hell, dude? I told you to stop!"

"Please, the master of faster won't settle for a measly speed such as that! I needed to push it to its limits."

"In case you're forgetting, Trudge was paying us to fix up his Duel Runner. You think he's going to pay for that?"

"Huh, if it can't handle a little bit of power, then its not fit to run on the streets! I did him a favor."

"Guys, calm down! We need to clean up this mess before Zora..."

"I should've known it was you two!"

The three of them jumped as an elderly woman stormed into the garage and marched her way down to them. This was Zora, their landlady and an old friend of their foster mother Martha. And she didn't take too kindly to Crow and Jack's mishaps.

"Sorry about this, Zora. Jack was..."

"I don't care, as far as I'm concerned you're both at fault! If it weren't for Martha you'd be out on the streets, both of you!"

Yusei, sensing that things were about to boil over, quickly stepped in to calm things down.

"Sorry about that, Zora. We were putting the finishing touches on a Duel Runner and things got out of hand. We'll clean it up, don't worry."

Zora's face softened, and she patted Yusei on the back.

"Oh, I don't doubt it with you in charge, Yusei. I'm sorry for yelling, I'm just having a bit of a hard time right now."

"Its alright, I'll keep them under control."

"Anyway, I'd noticed your mail was beginning to pile up. How long have you three been down here? Would it kill you to check your mailbox every once in a while?"

Jack and Crow glanced around, whistling innocently. Zora just shook her head.

"Honestly Yusei, I think you'd be better off on your own. Those two are nothing but trouble."

"We'll keep that in mind, thanks."

Zora left, leaving the boys to sort through their mail.

"Honestly Yusei, why does she always pick on us, but sings your praises whenever she stops by?"

"Probably because I'm not the one always blowing something up."

Jack just mumbled as he sorted through their mail.

"Bill, bill, bill...what's this?"

Hidden amongst the pile of bills and magazine offers was a letter addressed to the three of them. Opening it, they read the letter aloud:

Dear Jack Atlas, Crow Hogan, and Yusei Fudo:

You are hereby invited to the Island of Ragnarok to participate in my Legends Cup Tournament. The best duelists from all over the world have been invited to determine once and for all who is the top duelist. The boat leaves from New Domino Pier at 6'oclock AM, August 1st. I look forward to seeing you compete.

Sincerley,

Surtr

"Ragnarok? I feel like I've heard that name before."

"Does it say anything else, Yusei?"

"Only to bring our Duel Runners."

"Hey guys, guess what?"

Leo, Luna, and Akiza came into the garage, Leo running ahead of his companions.

"Oh cool, you guys got invitations too."

"Invitations?"

Luna and Akiza showed their invitations, as did Leo.

"Weird. Why would they send all of us invitations?"

"Especially Leo."

"Hey!"

"Do...do you guys think it could have anything to do with our marks?"

The five signers glanced down at their arms at the marks that bound them together. Could this Surtr person be after the Crimson Dragon?

"I don't know, but there's only one way to find out."

"You're...you're not seriously suggesting we go there, are you?"

"If they do know about The Crimson Dragon, then they no doubt have some scheme cooking. And as Signers, its our job to stop it."

"Sweet! I can't wait to duel all those awesome duelists!"

"Yeah, and get your butt kicked."

"Luna!"
