Miss Queen B: ZZZZZZZZZZZ...Notes:
Note One: I'll try to keep it short and sweet because this lovely lady is tired. I'm super, and I mean super happy from all the positive reviews from Part VI, I was surprised how much praised and likes Na Kika's character got. And here I thought I was going to disappoint Readers since some wanted a more Goji/Na Kika thing going. I'm glad to see a lot of approval for her being a Mother/grandmother figure instead. It seems like she got more of the spot light than Quetz did, but that's cool. You Readers sure know how to amaze me. (Big Smile) Speaking of Quetz, she did get a lot of mixed reviews, some loving her and some thinking she was stuck-up and annoying, which is cool, last thing I want is my characters to be same and dull. Not to worry, Quetz will return in my upcoming story "Rainbow" and Na Kika will be in the next chapter. Read bottom notes for more info.
Note Two: I'm so sorry for the long wait, I had a very bad case of writer's block which is a double edge sword to me since normally, when I have writer's block I would focus on another story. Thus "Purple Vengeance" was posted much earlier than I thought. I'm happy everyone loved it and seeing Tiamat for the first time. The next one-shot coming up will be "Mist" so stay tune for that one.
Note Three: So about this chapter, there's a lot of reference to two of my older stories: "Deep Blue Sea" and "Fanning the Flames," but not to worry, I'll leave a side note here and there to avoid confusion. Anyway, this chapter is written in both Goji and Rodan's POV and is center around their time with Anguirus. Goji remembering all the advice Anguirus would give him, but was too stubborn to listen. Rodan feeling jealous and strongly believing Angurius favored Goji more than him. With both of them recalling that last conversation they had with their dearest companion.
Thank you all for the wonderful reviews. Here's the next chapter enjoy.
Part VII
And I'll Remember
~You were unsure
Which pain is worse:
The shock of what happened
Or the ache for what
Never will?~
~Unknown
~Grief is like the ocean,
It comes in waves
Ebbing and flowing.
Sometimes the water is calm,
And sometimes it is overwhelming.
All we can do is learn to swim.~
~Vicki Harrison
It was worse than he thought as he looked down at the giant crater that used to be his old Kingdom. A bit peeved that he waited this long to check out the damages. Nearly five years to be exact, but life as King kept him busy….very busy. Between Mental torture, relationship issues, dealing with other kiajus' problems and drama, and a newborn, it's amazing he was able to steal this amount of time to come down here. He swam down towards the carter, looking at the piles of stones that used to be thick walls covered in paintings of his past history. He can still remember those paintings, images of him with humans and fellow Kiajus bowing to him. Some of him with Mosura perched on his shoulder and painted with the finest, brightest colors. Others of him fighting off the False King and all the stories in between. He huffed, feeling the tiredness and aches in his body from the bittersweet scene. He missed his home, more so back in his glory days when it was above ground and full of life. He can recall resting on his throne, watching the little humans dance around to praise him while the older ones bring him food, gifts and anything shining as offerings. Mosura would be more social and interact with the younglings. She would communicate with them since she could understand their language whereas he heard just gibberish in his head. She would go as far as letting them pet her fur and feel a sense of peace from her warmth and comfort.
Damn...He muttered to himself while feeling the guilt and anger seeping into his mind.
Not only was his home taken away, one of his main sources to recharge himself after a life-threatening fight, but the gravesite of his beloved companion was destroyed as well and that was something he can not replace.
His thoughts were interrupted by the little giggles he was hearing in his head. The mixture of his son's squeaky gibberish and his Queen's soft laugher. Azure was missing his mother and wanted to talk to her about all the things he's seen so far. Hopefully hearing Azure's voice and all the fun he was having would ease the tension and concern Mosura has been spewing in the back of his mind. She respected his request not to intervene while they were gone, but that doesn't mean she wouldn't worry.
He didn't want to pry into their conversation, but decided to listen in to make sure they were alright. He turned his head to look over his shoulder to see Azure floating upside down with his eyes shut tight and giggling.
(I saw Humans. They were staring at me.) Azure siad, more intrigued than anything.
(Your Sire let you see the Human population?)
He could actually feel Mosura's stunned tone. No doubt her feather-like antennas shot up. Oh wait till she hears about the other thing Azure discovered.
(Yes, I saw them while Si-ie was talking to the green serpent.) Azure said, his left eye slightly twitching.
He caught the twitch. It takes a lot to communicate with someone from a very far distance without decades of practice, but like any other hatchlings, they don't know when to quit. Any longer, it's going to tire out the Prince and make him moody from the headache.
(How come Si-ie can't hear them, but I can?)
(...You can understand them!)
He flinched from his Queen's shock, sending a painful pinch in his head. Azure made a small squeak from the sudden nip it as well. (Mosura, calm down) He said. (There's no need to spazz)
(I'm not spazzing, my Love, this is fantastic!)
His eyes snapped open in disbelief. (It is?) He asked, thinking somehow she was going to freak out over it.
(Of course, just think of what the future King can do if he can communicate with the humans?)
(Hear all the belittling and ridicule in thousands of different voices?) He said.
(My King, must you be so negative?) She asked.
(I'm not being negative, I'm being realistic.) He said, watching Azure swimming passed him and looking down at the deep crater. He was afraid of this. He knew Azure inherited many of his mother's traits, he was just hoping understanding and communicating with them wouldn't be one of them. With him still being a young hatchling, who knows how long it will be till his curious mind gets the better of him and compels him to go near those tiny pests. It was easy for Mosura to go near humans since she was always a gentle soul and easy on the eyes, but Azure was a different case. Being a splitting image of him, they might find him dangerous or worse, something to capture and test on.
(I know it's risky, but I don't want Azure growing up and resenting them. The whole point is learning how to live with them.)
He grumbled. There were times he wished Mosura could breathe underwater so he could bring her down here and show her what her Precious Humans did to his home. And how fickle and hypocritical they were towards him and many of the Kaijus they see as a threat. They hate them till they need them. He thought about the fight with the False King in the ocean and how he almost had them before the humans dropped that damn bomb on him. The flash of light blinded him and the whole ocean felt like acid causing him so much pain he became disoriented. How he managed to swim down to his Kingdom to heal was still a mystery to him, but he did and while he was healing he could actually hear and sense the chaos from above and not give a crap about it. If the humans thought they can handle the False King and the other kaiju's rampage so be it. Besides, he was too weak to do anything at the moment.
(Plus, even you have to admit, my King, not all humans are bad.)
He closed his eyes and could actually feel that tiny hand on his snout by that human. The first one he's seen in his Kingdom in who knows how long. He recalled opening his eyes to see the tiny thing looking up at him with this nervous look on his face. Like he was afraid his presence might provoke him, but he didn't feel like a threat and from what he could sense, the tiny human was the only one around. In the background he could hear a quiet clicking noise then he was blinded by a flash of light.
(They were just cleaning up the mess they made in the first place. So what if that one human brought down a "bomb" to recharge me, they didn't do it out of the kindness of their heart. They needed me to fight off the False King because shockingly, they couldn't.)
(Either way, thanks to them, you defeated them. There's no way around this my King. If he can understand them, eventually he might even find one to connect with. Just like I did. Who knows, the one he finds might even be the Voice of reasoning to the other humans. Making sure no one harms him or sees him as a threat.)
He shook his head. He might consider it, but not until Azure is much older where he can defend himself. (We'll discuss this later on. Did the Stupid Serpent find you yet?)
(Will you stop calling her that?) Mosura said firmly
(Stupid is a bad word, Si-ie)
He grumbled and looked over at Azure who was smiling. Giving him that look Mosura does when trying to teach him some matters. (And being called Go-Go or Pudgy is perfectly alright?)
He could hear Mosura sigh (No, I'm not saying it is. So I take it the tension between you two is there? And no, but I can sense her coming. Scylla left to see if she can find her quicker.)
He snorted. (Good, and when you see her, she better kneel to you for all the grief she put you through. I told her myself what she did was uncalled for)
She stayed quiet for a few seconds, (So she really wants to see me. You didn't threaten her or anything like that, did you?)
(Damn Mosura, your friends may be annoying, but I wouldn't threaten them. She wants to see you and-)
(Why is Azure scared?) Mosura asked, concerned.
He quickly turned his attention over to Azure, who was now at the bottom of the giant carter, staring at a pair of glowing yellow eyes. He swam closer to him, letting the light from his plates reveal a giant piranha-like kaiju hissing at Azure while fluttering its fins. Azure, did the right thing and stayed perfectly still because from the looks of it, the piranha was protecting something.
(What's going on?) Mosura asked.
Last thing he wants is for her to panic and track them down. Or worse, questioned his parenting skills and why was it such a challenge to keep Azure safe. (Nothing, let me know how it went with the Stupid Serpent)
(I told you not to call her-)
He blocked her out after that and turned his attention back to Azure and the sea creature. Azure floated back causing the piranha to hiss sharply.
Azure, don't move. He said quietly.
In a split second he was right behind the young Prince, his mouth and plates glowing bright while he looked down at the piranha kaiju with a deadly glare. Azure floated back and grabbed hold of his thigh for protection.
The Piranha kaiju hissed again and lowered itself down to the edge of the carter where a pile of jelly-like eggs were at. Now he gets it. Azure probably swam too close to the damn thing's nest and she was trying to protect it...or saw the Prince as a meal to feed her future young ones. What struck him the most was the kaiju. He thought the piranha ones were extinct. His eyes trailed over to a large crack in the ground and could see little creatures coming in and out of the hole and wondered if that was the tunnel to the Underground world. His Kingdom had one, he built it himself with his beam as a safety plan in case the False King ever broke out of the ice or the planet went through another dramatic change. He never really liked the Underground world, it didn't have a big ocean like the Surface world and to Mosura, the sky didn't feel "Endless" and "Free" like the sky on top so they never really bothered going down there. But it was a safe place to go for the others to avoid extinction. Sadly, he ended up blocking the tunnel decades later after some complications with an Apex rival that lived down there. The furry Ape-beast made it clear that if he steps foot in their territory again, he will be killed. He remembered not taking that threat so likely and told the Rival the same thing, adding he would destroy their little Island and let the "Crawlers" take over if he ever sees their kind ever again.
The piranha must've found a way up from the Underground world and if that's so, how many more creatures are escaping? He'll figure out that later, right now the female mother-to-be was not backing down or too frightened to move so he let out a large pulse from his body, sending the weak thing back a bit before finally taking off, going back into the large trench to hide.
He snorted and looked down at Azure. How many times do I have to tell you not to wander off without my knowledge?
Azure frowned, (You were talking to Mama and…)
And that gives you the right to take off? He asked, firmly.
The Prince lowered his head, (No. I was just looking. You said this was a gravesite and-)
He sighed from the word Gravesite and used his tail to pat Azure on the head. The sudden affection made the Prince flinch before letting go of his leg. Yes, it is….well, was. This giant crater here used to be one of my Kingdoms. So many memories laid on this very spot.
Azure swam around while looking at the horrible site. He lowered himself down to the bottom of the carter and stood there, watching Azure float down next to him to check out the debris. The Prince picked up a small stone that had some unique craving on it. He looked at it for a minute before dropping it to the ground. (You used to live here?)
He nodded. It was a lot more appealing when it was on land. Sadly, when the world started to change, an earthquake brought it down here. He said, trying to keep his nerves down. That was a horrible day to live. The Earthquake was so strong, it really did reshape the land and water. One minute his Kingdom was on land then next minute the land shake, collapsing half of it only for the rest to be swallowed up by water thanks to a giant tsunami. Mosura took it worse than he did knowing she couldn't warn his human worshippers to save themselves. So many lives were lost. The earthquake also disturbed his late-companion's old grave so he decided to move the bones down below where his Kingdom was to preserve it from any further harm. What a brilliant idea that was. He thought begrudgingly.
(I thought we were going to see a gravesite) Azure asked.
We're standing on it. He said, coldly.
(Oh) Azure said, looking at his feet.
Yeah, my companion's bones were here, but due to some bad….circumstances, this place was blown up which is why my Kingdom and my companion's grave is no longer here. I was kind of hoping to look around and see if we can find a small piece of him as a remembrance.
(Was he the one with the spikes?) Azure asked, swimming up to his head.
His eyes slightly widened, How do you know he had Spikes?
Azure frowns, the classic guilt look hatchlings would show for knowing too much. (Mama told me silly stories about you. I asked her why she had friends, but you didn't. She said you had one long ago and-) Azure looked down to twiddle his claws.
He swallowed. Yes, I had a companion long ago. He was there for me no matter how many times I tried to push him away and it was because of me why he's gone in the first place. After that, I told myself I would never go through that ever again.
And he made sure of it. Even after decades since Ang's death, he never tried to connect with another male companion. There was no point in his opinion. No one could replace Ang's personality and heart. The only one who came close to that was Methuselah, but like him, Meth was a loner and didn't stay in one place all the time or grow attached to another Kaiju. Back then they did bond during the war against the Parasite and Prime, but Meth ended up leaving for a more quiet life and he didn't have it in him to ask him to stay. After that, they would only track each other down for favors or training.
Azure frowned which he hated to see. He wasn't like Mosura, full of fun and happy stories...he's always been what Ang would call him: A Downer. Feeling the murky waves between them, Azure put on a smile in hopes to cheer him up. (What was he like?)
What was he like? He asked and Azure nodded.
(Was he like you?) Azure asked.
He snorted and started to look around, hoping to find something that looked like bones. The thought of Ang's bones scattered all over the place made him upset and uneasy. His companion didn't deserve this….though he didn't deserve to die to begin with. No...if anything...he was kind of like your Mother. Patience, nice, too trustworthy and always saw the good in all kaijus...no matter how annoying they were…

~Sunny Days seem to hurt the most
I wear the pain like a heavy coat
I feel you everywhere I go
I see you smile, I see your face
I hear you laughing in the rain
I still can't believe you're gone…~
(Flashback)
Just give him some time, he'll warm up to you eventually…
Normally he wouldn't disturbed Ang when he's sleeping, but there was conflict between him and Rodan and needed a tie breaker of some sort. Staring down at his friend who was peacefully sleeping in the soft grass with the sun shining down on him, he couldn't help, but smile a bit. How he would kill to sleep with such a clear and free mind. It made him wonder if Ang was able to snooze like that because he knew he and the bird were around, watching.
He snorted. Oh well, time for Spikey boy to wake up he thought and leaned down to grab Ang's tail and gave it a good shake. Ang was always a heavy sleeper so he gave his tail a painful tug before turning Ang onto his side. Ang grumbled and slowly opened his eyes to see him and his moody face. Still his companion smiled.
I hate to wake you, but I have a question for you. He said, letting go of Ang's tail.
Ang blinked. I hope it's important for the wake up call. He asked, getting up from the ground.
I can't believe you woke Anguirus up for something this stupid. He heard Rodan shouting behind him.
He turned around to stare at the reddish bird and the three portions of meat he was able to find already tracking flies. Rodan refused to let him eat and if it wasn't for Ang being here, he would've knocked the bird out with his tail. You're the one who won't let us eat.
Ang sighed, Did I miss something here?
Yes, you're stupid bird companion won't let me eat. It's been weeks since our last decent meal and when I finally found something, he's letting bugs feast on it instead. He said, while pointing at Rodan.
Ang stared at him before blinking. You woke me up for that? Don't tell me you two can't figure this out without me?
Rodan scoffed, See, you're just wasting his time, Fat-Ass. Stop being such a tattle-tale.
I wouldn't be if you would just let me eat. He sneered.
I will when you split the food evenly. Rodan said, looking at the three piles harshly with his portion much larger than Ang's and Rodan's. Ang said it, himself, that if food was scarce we needed to split the meat evenly.
It is evenly distributed. I made sure there's enough for each of us.
Rodan pointed at his portion. How is THAT evenly. Your food is three times bigger than ours. Even I can't believe you're that stupid.
No, I was hoping you were too stupid not to noticed. He said, sarcastically.
Goji, don't be a smartass and Rodan does have a point. Ang said, walking over to the three piles of food. They're not evenly separated.
Do not take his side again, Ang! He said, raising his voice a bit. He didn't mean to, but he was hungry and the land was going through a bad drought season that it was hard to find food. No vegetation around means most of the herds and flocks were long gone. They've been searching for much greener places, but it was a slow pace thanks to Rodan and Ang. They were more into desert, very sunny places.
I'm not taking his side, Goji, but your portion is bigger.
I'm the biggest one of the three, I need more in order to function right. If I really wanted to, I wouldn't even share. It's always been that way!
Well things are different now. It's drought season and there's now three of us so…
Besides, you could stand to lose a few thousands pounds from where I'm standing. Rodan said, with a sly smirk.
Enough with the fat jokes, Bird! I hope you know ALL lizard kaijus are built this way! What's your excuse for looking the way you do! He shouted, making his plates glow bright blue.
Don't get jealous of me and my physically fit form! At least I have my eating habits under control and being fair with portion sizes! Rodan shouted while climbing on Ang's back in order to measure up to his height. Rodan's stupid way to make him feel tall.
Guys, please, it's way too early for this- Ang said, trying to keep his head away from Rodan's burning wings.
You want to talk about eating habits? The way you eat, I'm surprised you haven 't starved to death. Most of the food ends up half-chewed on your chest or all over the ground.
Rodan growled, Why is it so hard to split the food evenly! We wouldn't be here wasting time if you would just give me and Ang the same amount!
What's wrong with me getting a bigger portion because again, my kind needs more food.
It's not proper etiquette, Goji. What part of that do you not understand! Rodan shouted with his wings flaring up.
Rodan, calm down, your flames are getting too big. Ang said, getting nervous having the fire demon on his back.
What would you know about proper etiquette? You talk with your mouth full and I know for a fact when me and Ang aren't looking you steal meat from us! He shouted and shoved Rodan off of Ang's back. And what did Ang tell you about your fire?
Rodan landed on his back, but quickly sat up. Will you just be fair!
Will everyone just calm down and just eat? It's just food. Ang said calmly while getting between them. And Goji, just make things easier for everyone and just split the food equally.
You know what, Screw this. He growled, blowing little blue particles out of his snout and could feel that burning build-up in his throat. As if Ang could sense it (They've been together for decades now and knows when he's being petty and moody), he quickly grabbed hold of Rodan and pushed him to the ground. Next thing he knew his blue beam shot out of his mouth before he could stop it, nearly hitting his companion and the bird, and blasted their food all over the place. Shit! He thought while turning away in an attempt to stop it. He shut his mouth tight, once again burning the inside of his mouth and let out a small burp with smoke coming out. The smell of burnt meat filled the air and when he looked back he could see pieces of their food scattered all over the place with some covered in tiny flames, Now we can all starve. He said in pettiness.
Ang picked himself up, took a moment to look around at the damaged food and land and put a smile on his face which stunned him.
Wow, if I didn't know better that beam of yours is getting stronger. Ang said while Rodan gave him a weird look.
He just blew up our food...Rodan said, annoyingly calm before noticing the charred tips on Ang's back. Anguirus, your back?
Ang curved his body enough to see the tips of his spikes slightly black with a little smoke coming off of them. Rodan quickly patted the smoke out, not even caring if it was chipping some of his hard manga skin. It's nothing. Ang said with a smile. Though I'm curious, Goji, did you do that on purpose or did you lose control again?
He just stared at Ang then at the burnt food before turning around to leave. A little angry at himself for losing control of this curse he was born with. As he was leaving, he could hear Rodan in the background complaining.
Great, do you know how long it took to find that? Now what? We're going to go another day without food because he wanted to throw a tantrum?
Knock it off Rodan. You weren't exactly helping the situation either. How many times do I have to tell you not to provoke him like that?
How about you tell him to control that temper of his before he turns everything around us into dust...including us!
Oh stop, he's not going to do that. He heard Ang say before hearing footsteps catching up to him.
Where are you going? Rodan shouted.
I'm just going to go talk to him. We'll be back in a few.
Rodan scoffed. Fine, while you do that I'll look around to see if there's any meat left to eat.
Him and his companion stayed quiet till they were far enough away from the Bird before Ang spoke. Goji….
He stopped and stared at the dirt. Did you honestly think I would harm you that way? He asked. It was an accident.
Ang stood next to him and from his height he could see the black color on the tips of his spikes. His eyes trailed over to Ang's face with that always positive smile. I know it was. Hence why I'm not upset about it or anything. Though I would have to say bringing out the beam...don't you think that was a tad bit extreme? I hope you weren't aiming at Rodan.
He wished. Kaiju knows that Bird needed a punch in the face every time he pissed him off. No, honestly it just came out and just aimed at the food. No big deal, if I wasn't so hungry I wouldn't even bother eating my portion. It had a bad smell.
Oh really...is that your excuse this time. It had a bad smell...not because Rodan pissed you off again and the only way to be petty is to destroy our only source of food? Ang asked, slightly insulted. Nothing can get passed Ang no matter how hard he tries.
He crossed his arms and snorted. It did shut him up.
Can't you two go five minutes without yelling at each other? For crying out loud, Goji, all three of us have been together for years now. When are you two going to give it a rest?
When are you going to see how troubled he is? And it's not trouble coming to him, it's him looking for it. I lost count how many times I had to hit him in order to get him out of my face. How long are you going to take his hits when you try to point out his flaws? How many times have we been kicked out of herds, packs and flocks because of his antics. Cussing and being an Asshole towards the males or for some stupid reason flirting and sleeping around with taken females ….and what do you do? You defend him! Shit Ang, you got on my ass for having empty past flings…
I defend him in order to get out of a sticky situation and once we're safe you know I have a talk with him. I don't know why you're so hard on him? You two are pretty much the same.
We are not the same, don't ever say that! He shouted, causing Ang to crouch down in case he released another blast.
You both had very hard upbringings, you both were shunned from your own kind-
The Alpha didn't like me because I was a Freak, HE got kicked out because he slept with the wrong female. Big difference!
Didn't you sleep with the Alpha's daughter and abandon her the next morning? Ang asked, giving him a look.
BIG difference. That Bitch was crazy and I was getting back at her Sire! He said, turning red, Ang would bring that story up just to prove a point. Blaming himself for opening up to Ang like that. It was all Male Talk, a way to brag and see who had it better. Stupid Bird wouldn't shut up from all his wild sexcapes and he thought it would be a cool idea to share some of his night tales.
You're just as bad as Rodan is, you just don't see it that way because you haven't been caught or punished for it. Rodan has. In fact I wouldn't be surprised that little shameful tryst of yours comes back with a vengeance. I know females and when they're scorn, that type of anger lasts forever.
He tssk. Like he would ever go back to his pack and face Nyx or her coming after him. What happened between them meant nothing and it was a long time ago, whatever punishment Karma wanted to give him for that Floozy has already missed its' deadline. I doubt it, I'm pretty sure she'd already found another poor soul to tear up.
Ang sighed, What I'm trying to point out, you and Rodan's been through a lot,...you just have a different way to cope with it than he does. You stay away from any social interaction and when kaijus are brave enough to approach, you push them away. Rodan on the other hand, the loneliness turned him into an Attention Seeker and will cling on to anyone who is willing to give him the time of day. Unfortunately, that Charm of his gets him in a lot of trouble. He needs to find a balance, just like you.
Just like me. I'm perfectly happy with the way I am. He said, offended.
And I am too. I'm just saying if you would just keep that temper under control and just sit down and talk to Rodan one on one, maybe you two can get along better. Call it a practice lesson to help you learn to open up to other kaijus besides me.
Why would I want to do that? I have you. I don't need anyone else. He said, letting his tight firm face drop down to a softness that only Ang at the time was allowed to see.
Well….what about Mosura….Ang asked, taking a step back from him. Last time he brought up the female moth, he was tackled to the ground. His stupid way to shut Ang up about things that involve females and love shit.
He rolled his eyes. What about her?
Just curious. I mean you two have been talking more lately. She's visiting more and you actually seem happy when she's around.
And….?
And? Come on Goji. I've seen the way she looks at you. Even Rodan sees it...though I'm not sure why he gets so angry about it, but ok, whatever...why don't you see it.
See what? She likes to talk to me. She tells me she talks to a lot of kaijus.
Goji, it's as clear as water, she likes you…and if you keep up with this "I don't need anyone" attitude-
There's nothing going on between me and her. She does not see me that way and I'm sure as hell don't have feelings for her. The only reason I don't shoo her off anymore is because you said it was rude.
Anguirus rolled his eyes and looked up at the sky. I'm just saying Goji, I hate for you to be alone-
You talk like you're going to leave me. He asked, a little concern.
Of course not, but you never know when life is going to hit you in the face. Rodan told me about it from his own experiences. It's not the greatest feeling in the world. One minute you have it all, then the next it's all gone. You keep pushing Rodan and Mosura away, they might just leave and never come back.
But I'll still have you. So to me, it's not a loss.
Ang smiled, And what will happen when you get tired of me?''
That will never happen. You made it clear no matter what I do, I can't get rid of you.
His friend smiled, knowing that was his horrible way of saying he loves him and needs him. But Ang didn't stay true to his words, in the end, Ang did leave him. He died to make sure he lived to fight another day….

But death tore the pages all away

(Present)
Meanwhile….
Rodan stared up at the night sky, clear and full of bright stars and took a deep breath. The air was cool and soothing. A good way to calm the intense silence he was feeling from his companion. From his make-shape mountain nest, he looked down at Behemoth who was staring at the direction Meth left a few hours ago. He snorted from the thought of his mountain kaiju companion. The Male is a piece of work sometimes. Only someone like him would have a night of sex and be pissed about it the next morning. At least now, Meth can't make fun of him for all his stupid mistakes. Doesn't feel nice to be so low graded, does it Meth? He thought.
But enough about that, he had another thing to fix and with that, he looked down at Behemoth. Are you still mad at me? He asked, in a serious tone.
Behemoth sighed and shook his head. I'm not mad, just disappointed.
Rodan flew down and landed right in front of Behemoth. That's even worse. He said, while folding in his wings. Why the attitude. We got away with it. The Brute has no clue and the Brat had a good time. Besides after what you told me what happened to Methuselah, I'm sure that's enough to make the Brute get off our radar.
Behemoth was not amused. I don't know what's worse, what you did or Methuselah being in denial about the Mut...I mean Barb.
Rodan's eyes perked up. The Muto has a name?
Yes, didn't you know?
Honestly, I thought they didn't go by name plus didn't really care to ask. He said, crossing his wings. Oh and Behemoth, he's not in denial. He's just having a good time. You don't need to be in love to enjoy sex.
Behemoth blinked. That's the worst kind out there, my dear fellow. There's no such thing as an Empty Connection. No matter how well planned out you think you are, sooner or later someone is going to develop feelings.
Rodan shrugs, Meth doesn't feel that way towards the Muto, I mean who would?
Well, I always believe you can't help who you fall in love with.
Yuck, that's something old kaijus would say.
Well, I am old and I've seen it happen lots of times over my long life. I mean I'm sure you, of all kaijus, would understand. He said, pointing at the hole-shape scar on Rodan's shoulder.
Rodan quickly covered up his scar and turned away from his companion's intense eyes. Dick Move, he thought. He had to bring up his short passion with Mosura. He thought about Methuselah again and how he got caught in the nest with the Muto by the Brute. That lucky Bastard should thank his stars he only got a beat down for that misdeed. Him and the Brute nearly killed each other and Scylla had to prevent the Brute from killing Mosura permanently. He rubbed his scar and thought about Mosura and the fact she was alone. Ok, not really alone, the stuck-up Squid was there as well, but she was no threat to him. He could easily say Behemoth needed to see her and POOF, no more squid. Now all he has to do is get out of here while he still has the chance. Well since you're still upset with me and I'm wide awake, I'm going to head out then. He said, spreading his wings out. What better way to burn off this extra energy and give you some me-time, right?
He was about to take off only to be slammed down to the ground from something crushing his tail. He checked behind his shoulder to see Behemoth holding him down by the tail with this firm look on his face. Rodan, do you really think I'm that dumb?
Rodan chuckled nervously. No, never have and never will.
Behemoth squeezed his tail hard, forming thin orange cracks in his hard armor. Rodan, whatever idea is roaming in your head, stop it right now.
I was just going for a fly. He said, yanking his tail away from Behemoth's strong grip.
Behemoth sighed, My Fellow, think about it and I mean really think about it, please. What makes you think she wants to see you?
I wasn't going over there. He lied and could tell Behemoth wasn't buying it. I was just going for a fly around like I always do.
Maybe it would be best to stay here and not go anywhere for the next few days. Behemoth suggested.
I need to fly, it's part of who I am and if I happened to fly by her island by accident well, so be it.
Rodan...I know you miss her and want to see her, but you are not going over there. He said, firmly.
Offended, Rodan sneered. What are you? My mother? You can't talk to me like that. I'm a grown ass male.
I am only being this way, because I care about you. Trust me, you're not the only stubborn, immature male I dealt with throughout my life. I had brothers who fought me because I refused to let them get into trouble. I raised ten cubs, most of them were males and they went through so much drama and turmoil over female problems. Why I can still remember this stun my youngest son pulled in order to impress a female and how it didn't go so well. It started out like any other day, my youngest son was-
Behemoth, I'm sure this story is great and has a very valuable lesson in there somewhere, but I'm leaving. I'm sorry, but I already prove that you can't stop me. He said, turning around while spreading out his wings. Feeling a bit upset with himself for testing Behemoth's patience like that, but he just wanted to see her again. There was no motive behind it. He just wanted to talk to her.
For crying out loud, Rodan when are you going to grow up!
His heart skipped a beat from those words causing him to drop his wings and froze. Those words... he remembered those words and the one kaiju that would lecture him with those words. He slowly turned around to face the sloth. What did you say?
Behemoth shook his head. I said, when are you going to-
0000000000
~You you see the world, would you chase your dreams
Settle down with a family
I wonder what you you name your babies
Some days the sky's so blue
I feel like I can talk to you
I know it might sound crazy…~
(Flashback: Read "Deep Blue Sea": Part III)
-Grow up!? Ang shouted, while pushing him far away from Gojira and the little annoying nuisance moth.
Ow, ow, ow, easy on the back, Anguirus! He shouted back while turning around and smacking Ang away from him. Sadly, that little turn around made his whole body hurt. While you were having a polite conversation with the bug, I was getting my back stomped on.
Ang huffed, And you're surprised? You had to piss him off again, didn't you?
It was just a joke. It's not my fault, he can't take a damn joke. He shouted while rubbing his swollen cheek. No doubt Fat-Ass's punch it's going to leave a large web-like crack in it tomorrow. He quickly looked behind Ang to see The Brute getting examined by the bug, clearly uncomfortable to have her very close to his face. The Brute turned his head, showing the three deep gashes on his face, trying to prevent the bug from touching them. Oddly though, while the Brute was giving the Bug a hard time about his wounds, he was still courteous enough to let her perch on the tip of his tail so they could talk at eye level.
You know how he gets if you go near Mosura. The last time you went near her, you tried to eat her and he warned you over and over again not to do it again. Ang said, giving his swollen cheek a pinch.
Ow, stop that. He shouted and smacked Ant's paw away. He quickly turned around and pouted. It's not my fault she was flirting.
The day started out bad. Bad bickering with the Brute was now the norm in his everyday life. Why Ang puts up with it day in and day out is anyone's guess, but Ang refuses to leave the Brute and honestly, he can't see himself going back to those awful lonely days. Anyway, he guessed he caught Ang in a bad mood because he told him and the Brute to race off to see how can hunt down food the fastest. Easy for him since he had the advantage of flight even though the only thing he found was a weak, male muto, but unlike the Brute, he wasn't picky so it was a quick hunt. What he didn't expect was returning to find Ang having a little chit chat with the Bug that's been coming around to see the Brute. To say the least, he was in no mood for company and he made that very clear to her when she tried to make small talk with him while he and Ang ate. The thing that threw him off was catching her staring at him a few times.
She wasn't flirting, Rodan. She was just giving you a compliment. You didn't have to be so rude about it. Ang said, while getting close to him to look at his throat. The Brute grabbed him by the neck during their little tussle. You're lucky he didn't use his claws, but you'll probably be sore tomorrow.
I wasn't rude!
Ang gave him a look. Yes, not only were you mean to Mosura, but you were spitting food and blood all over her. Seriously Rodan, when are you going to grow up?
ME!? I'm not the one always causing fights. I was just joking around yet you're mad at me? Why are you defending him, I'm the one who got beat up.
Ang looked back at the Brute and the bug, the brute's cheek was now sporting a white patch of silk to stop the bleeding and it looked like they were just talking. Well, she was trying to talk, very nervously while the Brute just stared at her with this unamused face. You know Gojira has a soft spot for Mosura and you thought it would be funny to pull her close to you and piss him off? He whispered harshly at him. Are you that jealous?
Jealous?! Why in the world would you think I would be jealous? He asked, stunned.
Beats me? You were the one asking her why she was interested in Goji and discouraging her not to get together with him.
They're two different species, Ang. It's kinda weird and come on, when has Fat-Ass ever showed interest in a female beside an empty fling. She needs to find someone that can tolerate her sappy, naive charm.
Oh really, someone like you? Ang said with a sly smirk.
He gave him a glare. That's not funny. She's not my type.
You did say she was pretty.
He rolled his eyes. What is with you and her twisted my words around. It was a mere slip of the tongue, I was just describing how weak and delicate she is. Stupid little Fool for trying to get someone like the Brute attention.
Ang chuckled which threw him off a little. Oh my kaiju Rodan, you're not jealous that Mosura is paying attention to Gojira...you're jealous that someone out there actually loves him. You can't stand to see Goji be happy. What's wrong with you? Ang asked in amusement. Like even after all these years together, Ang is still having a hard time figuring him out.
Hey, I can get any female if I want. Trust me, I have the charm that can make any female melt. He said with such confidence.
Ang stared at him with disappointment written all over his face.
He scoffed, I know that face, what did I say or do now?
Why do you have to say things like that? Ang asked, shaking his head.
What? I can't help it if I'm such a ladies' man. He said, with a smirk. You should know that by now Ang.
Yeah and I lost count how many males I had to talk or fight off because my companion was caught with a "Taken" female. Rodan, I know taking risks is your type of fun and making others as miserable as you are, but come on, this can't last forever. Eventually you're going to mess with the wrong male or fall for the wrong female and karma is going to bite you in the ass for all the stuff you did.
He relaxed, he hated when Ang lectured him. They were around the same age and Ang still acted like some sort of Sire-figure of the group. You really think I'm that miserable.
Ang nodded and was about to say something when they both heard Goji in the background.
A walk? Fat-Ass said, while wiggling his claws, a sign that he was nervous though with his firm face you wouldn't even tell.
The Bug started to blush, her face still stained with dried blood thanks to him. It's not his fault she was standing so close while he ate. Besides, his eating habits were perfect in his eyes. Well, I figure after that little tiff between you and Rodan, perhaps a walk will help? I mean whenever I need to calm my nerves, a good flight around the world always makes me feel better. She said brightly.
Goji just stared at her as if trying to figure out what the bug's angle was. I can't fly, Mosura.
Ang gently facepalm his forehead and he couldn't help, but chuckle a bit. Fat-ass was about as dense as he was wide. The bug came all this way to see him and he had no clue why. Not that he cared, but Ang was hoping Fat-ass would get a clue and see the Bug was interested in him.
Which is why I suggested a walk. Plus there's something I wanted to talk to you about. The Bug said, nervously. Her wings started to turn a bright shade of pink.
Fat-Ass's staring went on and on and from the looks of it, it was making the bug very nervous. Like she said the wrong thing and didn't know how to fix it. I'm fine, Mosura...there's no need to-
Ang rammed his shoulder into Fat-Ass's leg, nearly knocking the Bug off the lizard's tail. Quit stalling, Goji and go on a walk with her.
The bug flew up into the air, no doubt thinking there was going to be another brawl. He rolled his eyes when Fat-Ass looked down and tried to push Ang away. Kaiju knows if he had did that, he would've get a punch in the face or have his wing broken. (Which happened a few times over the years they've been traveling together. The first few years as traveling companions weren't exactly thrilling, but he stayed because he had nowhere else to go and grew very attached to Ang) What the hell, Ang? Are you trying to get rid of me?
Ha, that's funny. Now go, you can't turn down a female's request plus a little exercise could benefit you. Ang said, pushing Fat-Ass to move his feet.
Was that a fat joke?
No, of course not. Ang said, nervously.
Could've fooled me. He said, with a sly smirk.
Shut up Rodan. Fat-Ass growled.
Enough! Ang shouted, getting between him and Fat-Ass again. He took a deep breath and put on that calming smile. Goji, I think it would be a great idea since you've been sleeping for the past three days and plus it's the Gentlemale thing to do since the Lovely Mosura asked nicely.
The Bug looked away embarrassed, Anguirus, if he doesn't want to, you don't have to force him. She whispered, slightly hurt and disappointed.
Fat-Ass shrugs, thinking he got off easily, only to slightly flinch when he sees Ang giving him a deadly glare. He couldn't help, but smile from it. Ang always had a way to get what he wanted, but it was always for a good reason. Though he wasn't sure why it was a good idea to help Fat-Ass with female problems. The lizard made it clear he didn't like anyone coming near him. Fat-Ass grumbled and gave Ang that "I'm going to get you for this" look before speaking. Lead the way, Mosura. Fat-Ass said, trying so hard to put on a smile.
Which failed miserably in his point of view, but the Bug didn't mind or didn't see it due to her big, bright smile glowing up the place. Wonderful, I know a nice place where the flowers bloom at sunset. She said, gleam.
Fat-Ass's mouth twitched and stared down at Ang again only to receive another glare.
Say something nice, Goji. Ang whispered to him, hoping the Bug didn't hear.
Why? Fat-Ass asked.
Just do it. Ang whispered harshly before headbutting him in the leg.
Fat-Ass scowled and looked up at Mosura who was waiting patiently. Flowers….sounds great, it would surely hide that blood stench on your fur.
Mosura's antennas drooped. Ang facepalm his forehead harder than the last time and he couldn't help, but laugh out loud from Fat-Ass's way of wooing the females. He was quickly shut down by Fat-Ass's tail hitting him in the face….
000000000
The night was cold and quiet and he was happy. With Fat-Ass gone with the Bug, he and Ang had some time to themselves. Seriously, he can't remember the last time it was just him and Ang without Fat-Ass causing problems.
They've been gone for hours, I wondered if I should take that as a good sign. Ang said before sitting down next to him.
My guess is he ditched her and went off to sulk like he always does. He said, while spreading out his wings to give them a good stretch.
What are you doing? Ang asked.
He twisted the top part of his body to the left hoping to hear a pop. My back still hurts from Fat-Ass stomping on it.
Ang laughed before putting his paws on his shoulders. Well, Goji did tell you not to touch her and did you listen? He asked before bending his back in a weird angle till they both heard a loud, painful pop.
Ow! He shouted before taking a deep breath. Much better. Hopefully those stomps didn't mess up my flying ability.
Ang smiled and stared up at the sky. The stars were out and bright tonight. The sound of chirps from the tiny crickets around them could be heard. Ang started to hum while letting his tail shift back and forth in the dirt. What a peaceful night. He said, before lying down on the cool ground. He stretched his arms out and yawned before stuffing them back underneath him.
It sure is. He said, before leaning his tender back against Ant's side. The tips of Ang's spikes felt wonderful on his sore back. I'm not burning you, am I?
Ang shook his head. No, it's actually quite tolerable once you relax. Hmm, it's a nice warmth.
He couldn't help, but smile and closed his eyes to enjoy the serenity. It didn't last long when he felt Ang flinch.
Hey, look.
He opened his eyes and looked up to see a pair of Fire demons flying by with three little hatchlings trying to keep up with their parents. A grim feeling filled his mind when he started to think about his mate and the five eggs she laid before they were both taken away from him. She was so excited, even going as far as picking out names before they hatched, mostly female names. For some reason she had it in her head that they were all girls. After all, "Can the world handle another Rodan around here" as she would put it. He smiled, Aegle always had that smartass sense of humor like he does which was probably why she gave him a chance to court her after so many females told her he was "Bad News." Oh fuck, there were times he would miss her so much it would be unbearable. .
Not going to say hello? Ang asked.
Why should I? They're busy teaching their hatchlings how to fly. He said, watching the tiny family disappear in the far distance.
How can you tell?
The night sky is a lot clearer from unwanted kaijus so it's safer to take the hatchlings out for their flying lessons. He said, looking at his worn-out claws. Long overdue for a sharpening.
Oh I see, interesting. Ang said then frowned a bit which caught his attention.
What's with the frown? You hardly ever frown.
Sorry, I was just thinking. Ang said before looking at him. Do you miss being around your own flock?
Well, that caught him by surprise, but he answered it no less. Of course not. If you haven't noticed I kinda build a bad reputation around here. Males hate me, but the females love me. You know how it goes.
Yes, I know, but you wouldn't have this "Reputation" if you don't go after cheap thrills and flings. Perhaps actually find a single female to settle with. Kind of like Goji.
Why must you always bring him up when we talk about things? He's not here, he's out there probably making a fool out of himself, it's just you and me.
What better Kaiju to use it as an example. You two have more in common than you think, Rodan. A shit load of problems, especially when it comes to life and females. Ang said, rather amused.
You know the reason. After losing Aegle, how could I see myself being with another female. Like I told that stupid Bug, I lost the ability to love years ago.
Sure, yet that hasn't stop you from your wild...um...antics. Ang said, looking at him unimpressed.
He smirked. Hey, there's a difference between love and needs, my good friend. You should try it sometimes. Get off this Goody-Goody charade for a bit and learn to have fun. I've seen how you look at those mountain females and the spike ones yet you don't make a move.
I'm a little more noble than you and Goji, Rodan and so are those herds. Females like them only save themselves for their future mates. I'll admit I'd tried it once, you know have "Fun" and afterwards, I didn't feel so good. More empty than ever so why go through that again. I might not have the right one yet, but I know she's out there somewhere.
I guess you can't handle it as well as I can. Rodan said, placing his claws on his cheek. It still hurts from Goji's insane punch. Besides, why do I need to find another mate anyway? I'm perfectly happy being with you.
I see...are you sure about that? I mean, it seems like being around me and Goji is just making you miserable. You're constantly fighting with him, moody and always reckless. Plus, just like Goji, you refuse to get along with other kaijus unless you need something for them.
Stop comparing me to Fat-Ass, Ang. you know I hate that. And I'm not miserable. I'm very happy to have you in my life.
That's great...I think. Ang said, his eyes shifting to the dirt.
And do you know what would really make my life complete? He asked.
Learning to love again after a tragedy? Ang said, calmly.
No, Dumbass, if you would get rid of Fat-Ass and see we're better off just the two of us. Rodan said, getting up from his sitting position so he can face Ang eye to eye.
Ang sighed and shook his head. Rodan, he needs me just as much as you do.
He's a big, dumb, brute, he can take care of himself. Besides he's rude to you all the time and told you multiple times he would rather be alone. Why have a friend like that around?
That's just his way of keeping distance, but when we're alone, he is glad to have me around. I'm sure he feels the same way around Mosura...he just has a tough time telling it in words.
Yuck. Rodan said, looking up at the sky again. He was then shoved to the floor thanks to Ang's playful push.
Oh knock it off. Stop being so negative. Any grins.
I'm not being negative. He said, getting up from the floor.
Yes you are, but it's ok. I still love you, my friend. Ang said, pushing him down again.
He growled and flexed his claws. You want to fight too? Because this time I won't hold back like I did with Fat-Ass. He lied.
Riiight. Ang said, snorting a warm fog out his snout while running his claws through the dirt.
He was about to strike when he noticed Ang looking up at something with wide eyes and a slanted jaw. Ang? What's-
Ang pointed up at the sky and he turned around to see a bright star getting bigger and bigger by the second. What is that? Ang asked, taking a few steps over till he was right next to him.
It looks like a Star. He said.
I'd never seen anything that big before. Ang said before looking at him.
Rodan swallowed. If I didn't know better, it looks like it's falling out of the sky. Just like the rock that killed everything that meant to him. Although the rock landed miles and miles away the mere force of the blast destroyed his nest, surrounding area and buried Aegle and the eggs. It took him a day to find her, she had a chance to escape, but like any mother-to-be, she stayed behind to protect their eggs. She died for nothing in his mind, the weight of rocks, dirt and lava bits collapsing on her made her crush their young. It took a long time to forgive himself for leaving her to find food. If he was there, they could've carried the eggs and themselves to safety. Perhaps we should get out of here?
Why? Do you think it's going to hit us? It's too far away from what I'm seeing. Ang said.
Sure enough as the star got closer, there was a loud explosion causing it to engulf in flames. It flew across the sky and disappeared on the horizon. A few seconds later there was a loud crash on impact followed by a bright light that blinded him and And for a moment. There was a low rumble afterwards, he could feel it shaking underneath his feet then all went quiet. While his heart was pounding against his ribs, Ang was surprisingly calm.
I wondered if Goji saw it?.
He cracked. Something fell from the sky and you're wondering if Fat-Ass saw it as well?
Ang shrugs, Just curious, I'm pretty sure half the world saw it. I wondered what it was?'
Probably a rock. It wouldn't be the first time rocks fell out of the sky and I'm sure it won't be the last. He said.
Dark clouds started to form where the rock landed, filling the night sky with bright yellow lightning….
00000000
He hated rain…
Fire demons were dry, hot climate Flyers, but ever since that Thing from the sky fell, it covered the whole world with dark gray clouds and rain...endless amounts of rain. Which led to a lot of flooding, most of his food source going into hiding and a crisis that has a lot of kaijus living in fear. He heard the stories through the rumors of other Flyers and the kaijus they would come across. It wasn't a rock that fell from the sky, but some sort of large, evil looking creature with three heads, huge bat-like wings and covered in razor sharp golden scales. At first when it emerged from the carter, survivors said it didn't do anything, but looked around as if scanning their new home before filling the sky with black clouds and covering themselves up with heavy rain and lightning. They ended up settling down at the nearest volcano and hid in the darkness of their kaiju-made clouds. If He didn't know better, they were probably using the volcano as a way to recharge. After all that's what his Kind did after flying around all day, no doubt falling from the Sky would make anyone exhausted. Then after that, the invasion started. Whatever that thing was, the one everyone is dubbing as the Fallen Star, the Three headed Demon, the stuff of nightmares, and so on and so on, it had a very hungry craving for blood. The first year alone many lives were lost with many more moving around to find better homes from the endless rain. As for the three of them, Ang thought it would be a good idea to stay low for the time being since like so many others, they didn't know what to do about this Creature.
While Ang try to stay positive over the whole situation, he can tell his Spikey kaiju companion was under a lot of stress and fear….and of course it had to do with Fat-Ass and his state mind.
I'm worried about him. Ang said, keeping his head down to avoid the rain. It was pouring hard from where they were sheltering. They have been hiding out in a large cave for the past week to avoid the rain. It's not like they had a choice anyway, the ground was so flooded and muddy it was hard for Ang and Fat-Ass to walk in it and he couldn't fly due to the water stinging his entire body. But after a week of being cramped up, the tension was high with him getting edgy due to the wet, cold environment. The fires in his wings were nothing more, but dying embers at this point and if he didn't get any heat soon it could cause a lot of health problems. Sure he's been in the water before, he can handle it somewhat for a short period of time, but not when it's going on non-stop for months. Meanwhile Fat-Ass was reacting to the rain completely differently than he and Ang were.
He looked behind Ang and could see Fat-Ass standing in the middle of nowhere, glaring up at the sky while the rain beat down on him. He swore the lizard hasn't blinked in the last hour or moved if that matters. It was like the Fat-Ass was locked in some sort of deep trance and he's been doing that for the past couple of weeks. Placing a wing over his head to block the rain, he stared at Ang. What's the problem now?
He's been standing there for hours and when I confronted him about it, he told me he was sensing something in his head. Saying that the creature was calling out for him.
Stunned, he shook his head. Please don't tell me you believe that, Ang?
I don't know anymore, but I just fear for his life. You heard the rumors Rodan, everyone is saying this Creature, this Fallen Star, is going around and killing those they see as a threat. Mostly Alphas or Apex predators. Most of them ended up being slaughtered in the end. You and I both know Goji isn't like any other lizard, do you think the Fallen Star can sense that?
So you think the Brute might be the next target?
I hope not, but I think Goji feels it and it's making him very antsy.
They heard Fat-Ass growl while flashing his blue light from his plates. He then stood up high, Ang….He called out, not even bother looking back at him or Ang.
What is it, Goji? Ang asked, looking back at him.
Fat-Ass growled again with lightning clashing in the background. Stay here and don't follow me. Was all he said before taking off.
Goji?! Wait, where are you going! Ang said, turning around to go after him, but he quickly blocked his path. Rodan, what in the world are you doing?
He doesn't want you to follow. He said, while using his wing to shield him and Ang from the rain. He took a quick look at his wings, the ash and lava from the tips were turning into black sludge and will make it very hard for him to fly.
Really, since when do you follow Goji's wishes? Ang asked in a smartass tone.
Because I don't want you to follow him into danger. It's obvious he's going to seek out that Fallen Star thing and doesn't want you to get in the way.
Which makes it a more reason to go after him. Whether to stop him or help him, he can't do it alone. Ang said, nudging him aside to clear his path.
He stood there stunned then angry. There you go again, always putting Gojira above everyone else! He shouted. Including yourself!
Ang stopped and stared at him flabbergasted. Ang knew he was being serious when he actually called Fat-Ass by his real name. Rodan?
No, don't try to defend him. I'm tired of seeing you always making him your number one priority. You're about to go after him and go up against some Thing from the sky without a clues what that demon is capable of. If he wants to go, so be it, let him die for being stupid, but why do you have to go.
He's our friend and I don't want him to get hurt.
He's YOUR friend, but you're my friend as well and if you get hurt or die what about me! Did you ever stop and think if you don't come back how it's going to affect me! Am I not that important to you?!
Do you expect me to wait and hope he will come back. Is that what you want? Ang asked.
How about this option? Let's just leave. If he wants to get himself killed, let him. Let's go find some dry places and volcanoes and wait out this invasion. Why go looking for death?
That's funny coming from you. You are always looking for trouble, Rodan. I'm surprised you didn't follow Goji just for the sport. I bet if all three of us band together, we can defeat this Fallen Star.
I'm not in my best condition. Months of rain and floods are taking a toll on my health and wouldn't stand a chance. You never fought much in your life Ang, what makes you think you can stand a chance as well? You're only going to get in the way.
Ang sighed and sat down in the mud. He didn't know how, but the rain grew even stronger and the wind was picking up causing him to shiver and that's saying something for someone made out of hot fire. Rodan, I would've done the same thing if you went off to fight. Don't ever think I would only do it for Goji.
They stared at each other, letting the rain beat down on them while waiting for one of them to say something. I need to get out of here, Ang. I can't take this wet weather anymore and if they are targeting him, I don't want to be around when they find us.
Ang frowned, Friends are supposed to look out for one another, Rodan.
Again, he's not my friend. I'm sorry, but even he will say the same thing. He said, spreading out his wings. Now I'm begging you, come with me.
Ang just shook his head. He needs me, Rodan. You always told me never to leave you, but here you are…
I'm not leaving you. I want you to come with me. Once it clears up, we can come back and find the Brute. If he was still alive that is. He thought.
His Spiky companion sighed. No, I need to wait here in case Goji comes back. I won't go after him just to ease your mind, but I can't abandon him completely. I'll be here waiting in case you change your mind.
He slumped a bit, but there was no way to convince Ang when he made up his mind. Fine, just please….
As if he could read his thoughts, Ang pressed his forehead against his for comfort. The sting of the rain was soon forgotten. I'll be fine. You stay safe and come back as soon as you can. Ang said.
He nodded before flying up into the sky, his wings feeling super heavy after not flying for so long and stared down at Ang, who was giving him a reassuring smile that everything is going to be ok. He nodded before taking off to find any place that wasn't covered in gray clouds and rain. He was miles away from the cave when he spotted something colorful flying towards the direction he was coming from. It only took him a second to realize it was the bug and no doubt is going after Fat-Ass like Ang was.
Idiot. He thought and continued on his way to who knows where.
Of course Ang didn't listen to him. After spending a few weeks inside a volcano to recover his sluggish self, he emerged to see the rain had finally subsided...only for new destruction to begin. The dark clouds were still around, but there was only lightning and thunder this time. Lightning was striking down all around him causing fire all over the place. The wind would then spread it across the land, burning down everything it touches. Many kaijus were fleeing for their lives and hiding from the Three Headed Demon. The world around him was dark and bleak and the stench was much worse. He flew around, being super careful not to get it by lightning, till he spotted the mountain and cave Ang should be sheltering in. He was shocked to find him alone and very distraught.
The first thing out of Ang's mouth was if he saw Fat-Ass anywhere causing him to peeve a bit. No welcome back or asking how he was doing, just "Have you seen Goji?" When he asked what happened, Ang filled him in with the details. He was right, Fat-Ass went after the three headed demon with Mosura helping him. Somehow they both survived and came back to recover. Then something happened between the lizard and the bug, because the next thing Ang knew, Fat-Ass ran off, knocking Ang down in the process, with Mosura crying out to him to come back. Before he could ask Mosura what happened, she flew away sobbing.
I haven't seen him in weeks and I looked everywhere.
He rolled his eyes. Did the bug come back?
Rodan, she has a name and I haven't seen her either. I hope she's ok.
She must be because when I was flying over here I saw her helping a pack move to safer ground due to some bad flooding. She didn't see me though since I was very high in the air.
I see, at least she's still around. Things are getting very bad out here. It's like the Demon is super pissed about something and from what I'm hearing from fellow Kaijus they are looking for Goji.
Oh come on Ang, what makes you think that. There are other lizards out there.
Do you know any other "Lizards that shoot blue beams?" Ang put it, clearly frustrated from the whole thing.
He huffed. Alright, how can I help?
Ang's eyes bulged, You actually want to help.
No, but I know you're going to ask so I might as well save the time and energy. After all, he was in no mood to argue since he was sore and still waking up from his short hibernation.
Good enough. Ang said, smiling. You can cover more ground than me, can you fly around and see if you can spot him. Maybe near the ocean since that's where he goes to sulk most of the time.
He groaned, Fine, but you owe me big time, Ang.
So be it. Ang said, staring at him with a soft smile.
What? He asked, hating when kaijus would just stare at him.
Look at you, growing up and doing something that isn't so selfish, I never thought I would see the day.
Yeah, yeah, don't get used to it. I'll be back. He said, jumping up into the air to fly away.
He looked far and wide for that idiot, not knowing during his time away, the Brute convinced Ang to join him in a rematch with the three headed demon. He was sure of it, because Ang told him he wouldn't put himself in harm's way like that. Either way, the two left to fight and only one came back. It should have been the Brute. He was supposed to die, not Ang. Thanks to him, he never saw his companion ever again. The Brute took Ang for granted by not keeping him safe even after all the time Ang would look out for him. Everyone thought he was selfish and cruel, well at least he tried to protect his friend.
He snapped out of his thoughts when he heard Behemoth calling out to him if everything was Ok...

~It ain't fair you died too young
Like a story that had just begun
But death tore the pages all away
God knows how i miss you
All the hell that I've been through
Just knowing no one could take you place
Sometimes I wonder who you'd be today…~
(Present)
He didn't know how long they were down there, the dark ocean doesn't care about time or day, but to him, it felt like time stopped just for him and Azure. It was truly a bittersweet moment in his eyes. Roaming through the debris with Azure while the little Prince asks questions about the things he would find intrigued him. The Prince was such a curious little boy. Question after question. Mostly about his late companion causing him to go down memory lane of all the good and bad times he had with Anguirus. Though he was hesitant to discuss what happened to him, hell he never told Mosura all the details about that day before she showed up. There was no point, Mosura already put a lot of guilt on herself for not being able to save Ang like she did with him. He didn't know why, Ang told her to leave because he already had a fatal wound…
(Is this a bone?)
He looked over at Azure who was dragging something long and white over to him. The thing was nearly twice as big as his heir, but that didn't stop Azure from moving it with his teeth. He took a closer look at the object with Azure smiling big with excitement. Sadly, he let out a small snort and looked at his Heir with a disappointed face. No, this isn't a bone, Azure. From the looks of it, it was part of some of the statues the humans carved out of polished rocks.
Azure slowly frowned and sighed. (I'm sorry…)
For what? He asked, knocking the object away from the.
(We've been here for so long and still no bones)
He groaned, Don't be upset, it was a long shot. I was just hoping there was something, just something we can find to remember him by. Something he can take back to his home for a proper burial. His eyes closed for a moment, a way to control himself from the sadness he was very good at hiding, only to feel tiny paws on his snout. He opened them to see Azure's glowing blue one.
(Don't be sad) He said, hugging his snout tighter.
I'm not sad. He denied, trying very hard not to nip Azure's stomach with his teeth.
(I can feel it) Azure said. (Mama said he was really great)
He was really great, but in life, kaijus live and some die and for him, he died.
(Now you're sad and angry) Azure said, swimming over to his shoulder. He hugged his thick neck, the same way Mosura would do when she can sense his despair. He really needed to teach Azure to be a bit more firm and emotionless. Having feelings can be a weakness in battle.
He sighed and went on searching around the crater with Azure still attached to him. I'm mad because I can still remember our last conversation together before he died.
(Did you upset him) Azure asked.
In a way, I guess. Anguirus pretty much told me what a huge A-word I was. In fact, it was that talk that made me realize how much your mother meant to me. I don't know if she ever told you, but we didn't exactly become mates right off the back.
Azure shook his head. (Mama said you were stubborn)
And that's the nicest way for her to say I was mean and stupid.
(Stupid is a bad word)
He rolled his eyes, Yeah, but that's what Ang told me, among other things….

(Flashback: Read "Fanning the Flames: Chap.Three part VIII)
He ran. Despite the wounds and pain, the second Mosura said those three little words he just ran. Not one of his finest moments in life since mere hours ago he and Mosura just fought the one called the Fallen Star for the first time. It was an intense battle, never in his life did he had an opponent that could control weather and could shoot beams out of their mouths like he did. Even worse, they were able to control it whereas his beam would shoot whenever it felt like it. He took a lot of hits, but he did a lot of damage to them as well. What helped was Mosura slowing them down with her silk, but he made sure she didn't receive any hard blows. The fight went on all day, and it wasn't till he was able to tear off one of their heads when they finally retreated. Those cowards flew up and disappeared in the black clouds. He wanted to go after him, but Mosura thought it would be a good time to go back and rest. After all, he was bleeding all over his body and she needed to patch up the wounds. When they made it back to the cave, they found Ang waiting for him though he looked a little upset about something. At the time, he didn't know the Bird left to find dry land nor care, he was more interested in telling Ang what happened. Despite how bad the fight went, he was quite pleased with himself, it was a worthy Alpha to challenge and no doubt will think twice not to fight him again. Ang was not pleased from his excitement, saying since the fight ended in a draw, there was a good chance they would come back and try to kill him or those close to him. He remembers dismissing him which Ang then left the cave to keep watch, leaving him and Mosura alone.
That's when things got weird. Mostly for him since Mosura was taking her time to patch up his wounds. Being tender and slow so he wouldn't be in pain. Her wings were brushing across his back and stomach thanks to her examining him. They were getting close, he knew that, but to him he thought they were more companions no matter how many times Ang told him otherwise. Then it happened. A trail of blood leaked into his eye and Mosura was nice enough to wipe it away with her pure white fur. First time having her so close to his face, he could smell the rain and flowers on her among the blood. She let out a small hum while her antennas caressed the top of his forehead. He turned his head to face her and licked her cheek before he could even think about it. Stunned at first like he just crossed a very bad line, her eyes soften and returned the affection with some soft nuzzles. That silenced him, he actually felt warm caressing her with such tenderness, normally he wouldn't feel anything when he was with females so why was she different? It didn't last long though, after a kiss on the cheek Mosura told him she loved him and he quickly snapped out of it and stood up. Then he ran.
She pleaded with him to stop. She was sorry. Don't go, she cried out.
Ang got in his way, asking him what was wrong, but he shoved him away and continued on.
Mosura cried out again, telling him to come back, he was still recovering, but he didn't stop. He just kept running and running till he saw the nearest ocean and dive right in. Knowing very well neither her or Ang could follow. In the ocean, he swam down as deep as he can go, letting his wounds sting from the salt water and Mosura's web peel off of him till he was in pure darkness. Still in the dark, he can still hear her confessing to him.
I love you, Gojira…
She didn't mean it. It must've been a trick to see if he would fall for it. He was no fool, nobody loved him like that. He heard other females tell him that before, but they only wanted him to gain power or after a night in the nest. He shoo them off like they were yesterday's trash, but Mosura wasn't like that. She was too naive to do anything so ruthless, so what purpose did she have telling him that ugly lie? His head started to hurt and he let himself sink to the bottom of the ocean and allowed sleep to take over.
Once he recovered and was well enough to face his cowardly run away with pride, he returned to the surface only to see the land around him in utter chaos. The rain stopped, but the sky was still covered in black clouds full of lightning and thunder. The stench of fire and death filled his nose and there was a very eerie vibe coursing through his veins. First thing that came to mind was Ang and wondered if he was still at the cave they were sheltering in a while back. Using that as his only lead, he went off to find him. It took awhile, but he finally made it back to the cave where Ang was staying. Let's just say Ang wasn't too happy about his sudden departure, but was forgiving nonetheless. He was happy enough to fill him in what's been going on while he was gone. To recover...yeah, recover. The last thing he wants is for Ang to know why he ran off in the first place.
They are looking for you. Ang said, concerned.
First thing that came to mind was the fact the Demon was still alive. How in the world did they survive? I tore one of their heads off! He asked, dumbfounded.
It grew back. His friend said in disgust and horror. They've been going around the lands, killing everyone and destroying everything on site, looking for you. Those who wanted to live are bowing down to them as their new Alpha and those who don't, well, you know…
Oh great, just another reason for kaijus to hate him. No doubt they will blame him for all the chaos because the Three Headed Demon didn't like to lose. Pushing that aside, he needed to know something. Mosura…
Ang shrugs, She left after you did. Pretty upset and I haven't seen her since. Rodan told me he would see her helping the humans and creatures run and hide for safety.
He frowned and noticed the way Ang was looking at him, his companion wanted to ask him something.
So what are you going to do? Ang asked. He can tell no matter what he said, he was not going to like the answer.
It looks like I have a rematch to win. He said, standing tall and proud. Hopefully that Golden Bastard will stay still enough for him to tear off all three of their heads this time. Care to join?
His Spiked covered friend snorted and wiggled his head and tail. I'm with you till the end, pal.
He couldn't help, but grin a little from Ang's bravery. Are you sure, I won't hold it against you if you coward away. I know you won't hear the end of it from Rodan, if he sees a scratch on you.
Ha. Ha. I should be more concerned with you. I told you after that first fight, they were going to come back. Aren't you worried?
About what? Losing? He asked. I think I did well the first time. I just have to show them it's not smart to mess with me.
Goji look around you, this land used to be full of life and lush and now it's a graveyard. They did this and everyone is fearing for their lives. Please take this seriously.
I am, which is why I'm asking for your help. No doubt the two of us will take them down for good. He said with confidence.
Ang nodded, Alright, but before we do this, perhaps you should find Mosura first.
He felt a chill going down his spine from hearing her name, but quickly put on a firm face again. Why?
Ang looked away nervously, Look I don't know what happened when I left the cave, but you ran off and she flew away crying. She wouldn't even look at me when I asked her what happened. Honestly, out of all the times she would come and visit you, she never left sobbing and covered in blood. What the hell did you do this time, Goji? He demanded.
What I did? What makes you think I was the one who did something? He asked, highly offended.
Ang gave him that look, the one that says he wasn't not buying it. Goji, she left in a crying mess and you took off without a word for weeks.
He snorted and turned around. Nothing happened. He said, and began to walk away. Already hearing the footsteps of Ang following him.
I know when you're lying, Goji. Talk to me. Ang said, trying to catch up to him.
We're searching for some Golden Demon to kill and you want to discuss problems now, Ang? He asked sarcastically.
He was pulled back a step thanks to Ang biting down on his tail to make him stop. Instead of resisting, since there was no point when it comes to Ang getting what he wants, he just stood there, begrudgingly waiting for Ang to let him go. Ang dropped his tail and huffed. Goji….
He sighed. She told me….she loves me….and I panicked and ran off. There! Are you happy now? He growled at his friend.
Ang blinked, Goji, come closer and repeat that in my good ear. He said, pointing at his left ear.
What the hell are you talking about? He asked, leaning down til he was at Ang's eyes level only to have his companion slap him in the face. He pulled back, feeling the sting from Ang's hit. For fuck sake Ang! That was uncalled for! He roared, nearly matching the loud sound of thunder in the background.
That's why you ran off?! Because Mosura told you what's been obvious to everyone, but you! Dammit Goji, was running away the best you can do? I know you like being an Asshole, but come on, she did nothing to you to deserve that treatment!
It was unexpected. How was I supposed to handle it? It's not everyday a female tells me she's in love with me. From the experience I had through out life, it could've been a trick!
Yeah, sure Goji, she wasted all these years to get to know you in order to play some trick. Are you really that dense or is Rodan right about you being a Big, Fat Idiot?
Fine, I'm a Big Fat Idiot, can we drop it now? He asked.
So that's it. The Beauty Bug confessed her love for you and all you want me to do is drop it?
Yes, is that so hard to do?
Ang huffed and looked like he wanted to hit him again. I put up with a lot of bullshit from you and Rodan over the years, Goji. Hell, most of it was just petty stuff to laugh about later on, but this, this is unacceptable. She loves you and I know you're feeling something for her as well.
I have no feelings for Mosura.
Goji, if you didn't feel anything for her, you would've told her instead of running away. You panicked because you never thought someone would love you for who you are. Why miss this opportunity to be happy for once in your life? Or is it just easier to be miserable just like Rodan.
Stop lecturing me and stop comparing me to the Bird! You always do this, Ang! Thinking you know me and what's best for me, well you don't! I don't need her or love her and once she stops crying and comes to her senses she will see that her feelings were nothing, but pure nonsense! How can someone like her ever love someone like me!
Ang didn't even flinch from his harsh words, no doubt used to his outburst and tantrums. He took a deep breath and sighed, You know, instead of running away like you did, you could've asked her that question yourself. Look I know having feelings is so new and confusing for you, but when she was around, you were happy. When she was threatened by another larger predator, you protected her and when Rodan was being an Ass towards her, you got offended. You can't stand there and tell me you felt nothing for her. And now after pulling that little stunt….rejecting her by leaving, do you honestly think she will come back?
He snorted, I was mean to her before and she always came back. I'm not worried about her leaving for good.
You really hurt her, Goji.
She'll come back, just like before and when she does, fine, I'll talk to her alright.
You're just saying that to get me to shut up about it.
Is it working? He asked, being a smartass.
Goji…
Ang, can we just get this fight over with and then you can have all the time in the world to yell at me, alright?
The thunder and lightning grew worse and it started to rain again. In the background, he could hear three different cries coming from the clouds. His senses were going crazy at this point and knew it was the Fallen Star coming towards them. It freaked him out knowing how easily it was for them to find him once he was on land. He stood his ground and began to flash his blue light on his plates to show the demon he was not afraid and roar up at the black clouds. Ang stood next to him and positioned himself in a fighting stance.
So after this is done, I can yell at you and lecture you, right? And you won't roll your eyes and be a smartass about it either?
Yes, and to sweeten the deal, I'll let you slap me in the face one more time. Deal?
The rain increased, making it hard for him to see in front of him. The raindrops felt like thorns on his scales, but still he did not back down. He looked down at Ang who looked nervous, but smiled anyway.
Deal….

(Present)
When they returned to the surface, it was dark which disappointed Azure since after being in darkness for so long, he needed some sun and warmth. Stupid on his part, Azure wasn't used to the cold temperature deep down and could now feel his Heir shivering while curling himself up against his back plates. He made his plates glow to provide warmth while searching for some land to rest for the night. In his mouth was one spiked shaped bone they managed to find after days of searching which he tried his hardest not to break. He thought about heading over to Meth's turf after sensing some disturbance a few hours ago. It was the same thing he felt when the Bird and the Parasite had their fight in one of the abandoned cities. On the other hand, Meth knew how to take care of himself so he was sure the Mountain kaiju could take care of whatever was disturbing his home. Besides, he wasn't in the mood to deal with the parasite again.
Barb...her name is Barb. He remembered Meth telling him.
Who gives a swimming fuck….it was a stupid name anyway. With that in mind, he peddled his way around the ocean, looking for the nearest uncharted island for Azure to sleep on. It took awhile, but he finally found a piece of land for him and the Prince to rest. He crawled half way on the island and laid down to make it easy for Azure to jump off and spit out the bone. Azure walked over to the bone and touched it with his little claws. (Are you happy? We found Ang!) He said, lying down in front of him.
He stared at the bone, from the looks of it, it wasn't really a bone, more like one of Ang's spikes on his back shell. A little upset that he was staring at the last piece of his dead companion, but it was better than nothing he guessed. Still, he was hoping to show Azure something more than this one tiny bone.
(Si-ie, please don't be sad.) Azure said, frowning.
I'm not sad, just angry. He said, coming clean. He was a great companion, you would've loved him and no doubt he would've loved you as well.
The sun was starting to come up and Azure yawned before rubbing his eyes (Mama told me he died a while back)
Yeah? He asked, calmly.
Azure nodded, (But she didn't say how)
Good, it's not a nice story to tell.
(Oh) Azure said, looking a bit disappointed.
He sighed, But, if you really want to know, I guess I can tell you what happened. I'll just spare you the gruesome details. He stared down at Azure, who was giving him his undivided attention. He took a deep breath. Well, it all started with me and Ang going up against a Demon from another world...
It was also the turning point in his life when he lost everything. And warned him what would happen if he continued to push everyone away and in the end, he was right. Not only did he lose that fight, he lost his companion, Mosura and his sanity. He would've lost his life as well if it wasn't for Na Kika crossing his path years later...
~Sunny days seem to hurt the most
I wear the pain like a heavy coat
The only thing that gives me hope
Is I know I'll see you again someday
Someday, someday.~

MQB: It's times likes theses, part of me would love to go back and rewrite "Fanning the Flames" I know my Fellow Writer, Shadowblade217 brought it up a while back since I would complain about it every so often. Not that I'm saying I didn't like it or how it turned out, but there was so much more I wanted to do, I was just afraid to test the waters too much at the time. I know for one thing, It wouldn't be rated T. Lol. Just a curious thought...
I hope everyone love this chapter and again sorry for the long wait. Hopefully Part VIII will be out by Halloween. Till than take care everyone and stay safe. Love Ya!
Please Review.
Part VIII: Goji take Azure to one of the abandon cities (Boston) to show him where he had one of his greatest battles against the Fallen Star while remembering the dark years after Anguirus' death and meeting Na Kika for the first time. '
