If you don't like 30 years before then that's fine, you don't need to tell everybody about it with vulgar language, there are underage people who read the comments and they don't need read stuff like that.
Secondly I'm not changing the story because some random doesn't like the story. Don't like it then go and read something else. Nobody is forcing you read this.
I'm writing this because I like it! Not for any other reason, this simply is self indulgent nonsense. It's a fanfic! Not something offensive.
Dragon's POV
I didn't know what to do?
Do we run? Do we fight?
Well actually fighting was out of the question, there was no way in hell that we stood a chance against Whitebeard.
Luffy didn't seem bothered which frustrated me, didn't he know what a life threatening situation was? He was just stood there, unfazed, hands bracing the back of his head and a lazy expression on his face.
The pirate captain was just staring at us, no real emotion, then he fixed his gaze on me and Luffy and suddenly he blinked, slightly surprised as if he had just now noticed us.
So he wasn't looking for us? Then why was he here? Was our luck so bad that we just happened to bump into him?
I was just about to push Luffy away, get us to run, when the idiot put his hand in the air and in the most friendly manner possible spoke to the Yonko.
"Hey not so old guy thanks for helping us the other day."
My eyes bugged out of their sockets, was he crazy! At that moment I could have kicked the kid, the way he spoke to the pirate was so familiar and cheerful.
This wasn't his friend, this man was a Yonko with the title of strongest in the world!
Whitebeard just stood there, he looked taken back. Maybe he was offended? Was he going to turn Luffy into a pancake?
Then out of the blue, completely startling me, the man broke into the biggest broadest grin and started chuckling.
"You're well come brat"
The idiot smiled brightly, he didn't even seem surprised. I gaped at the boy, half tempted to rattle him.
"How are those injuries of yours? You weren't doing very well when I first brought you back."
Hold on Whitebeard was the one who brought us here? Him personally?
The raven tilted his head in thought, almost assessing himself.
"I've had worst, my head kinda hurts sometimes though. Dragon's hands aren't very good I have to pick stuff up for him"
The Yonko nodded, adjusting something he was carrying with one arm. The something moved. Which made me incredibly anxious, what the hell was it?
"That doesn't surprise me, you both were lucky to have gotten off with just that."
The pirate captain grumbled slightly, a irritated edge to his voice.
"Do you know what happened to Grandpa?"
The Yonko snorted with amusement. He thought it was funny?
"Garp?"
"Mmm, yeah!"
"I punched him..."
"Oh? Is he okay?"
Whitebeard grimaced, he looked incredibly annoyed at the question.
"I expect so, it takes more than that to kill Garp."
"That's good, I hope his okay though"
This seemed to bother him even more, he jutted out his chin, scowling with his teeth bared.
"You're too nice little brat, he doesn't deserve your concern"
Luffy paused looking incredibly confused.
"He's mean but his still Gramps"
The man grunted, turning his gaze away from the boy. I was just watching this exchange with a mixture of fascination and bewilderment.
Why were they having such a normal conversation!?
"Were you the ones who knocked the kitchen staff out?"
Whitebeard asked casually, he didn't sound angry, but he could have probably have hidden it from his voice. I panicked, shaking my head wildly at Luffy in an attempt to silence him, he ignored me.
"Yeah, I knocked'em out with my Conquerors haki, they wouldn't leave us alone, even when I asked them to."
You Dumbass Luffy! Don't tell him that!
Whitebeard just sighed aspirated, he turned to the boy and sternly told him
"Little brat you do know you shouldn't do that?"
I was glancing between them both, ready to kick the Yonko if he went for my idiot kid.
Just apologise Luffy! Don't say anymore!
"But they chucked knives and stuff at us!"
Luffy whined, no remorse in his tone. I wanted to slam my head into a wall, that or scream to get out the amount of tension that my stupid kid was giving me.
Shut up, please shut up you little moron.
That got a raised eyebrow from the Yonko, he almost seemed concerned.
"They probably shouldn't have done that. Saying that, you brats shouldn't steal their hard work in the first place-"
The pirate once again shifted his grip on the thing that had moved before, it was at this time that I noticed that Whitebeard's naginata was missing.
"-Then again it's not the first time the cooks have nearly chopped someone up, it's just food at the end of the day. I should have a word with them."
The last part was muttered to himself thoughtfully.
"Uh sorry I guess"
Luffy mumbled grumpily, crossing his arms like a little kid with a pout on his face.
I didn't understand what was going on, Luffy and Whitebeard were just chatting, no threats had been thrown our way, nor had any life ending experiences happened.
Everything was fine...
And I didn't know what to think about that, I should have pleased that the Yonko wasn't trying to kill us and yet I didn't like it.
Yonko were bad people, they took what they wanted from innocent civilians, destroyed islands for their sick amusement, right?
Then why was Whitebeard, Whitebeard of all people stood here having a friendly chat with Luffy.
He had saved us from the old geezer, asked how we were feeling after getting the stuffing beaten out of us and when Luffy told him that we had knocked out his own men and stolen food, he just lightly scolded him. If that!
Was every report I had read wrong? I knew the government liked to cover stuff up, but this was completely wrong!
He had to be hiding some ulterior motive.
"Anyway brats I heard you left the infirmary without telling anyone, lucky for you Marilyn wasn't around."
"Who's that?"
"A dumb old lady, she's the ships doctor, yoi"
That voice didn't belong to Whitebeard or Luffy, I glanced around warily trying to find the owner.
Then a head popped out from behind Whitebeard's arm. It was a boy, couldn't have been more than 14 or 15. He had bandages wound round around his head and over his eyes, light blue flickering flames seemed to behind them. He looked extremely ticked off, his mouth was draw up into disgusted smirk.
I was stunned, why was Whitebeard carrying a kid!? Who's kid was that? What happened to his eyes? Was he okay?
Luffy was staring at the boy, he looked like he was trying to think of something.
"I thought you were sulking Marco?"
The Yonko beamed down at the kid, which was met with a grouchy rude gesture, the pirate burst out laughing.
I was dumbfounded, he was even the slightest bit offended by that, I would be offended by that.
"That bad, huh?"
Whitebeard teased the blonde, he flopped down behind his arm once again, disappearing from view.
Luffy's face lit up with a huge smile, realization dawning on him.
"Fire bird guy!"
The boy peered over the Yonko's arm again, this time he didn't look so miserable. Interest written on his face.
"You know me, yoi?"
The raven nodded eagerly, I realized he must have known him from the future. That wasn't good, I was about to shut him up, but I was too slow to react.
"Yeah you turn into a mystery bird and you kick stu-
Luffy suddenly clamped his hands over his mouth, I slapped my forehead in disbelief I ended up with a throbbing hand.
"Luffy!"
I hissed under my breath, the boy was rubbing the back of his head apologetically.
"Sorry I forgot"
Whitebeard and the blonde kid were looking at us inquisitively, I shuffled closer to my dumb boy, ready to grab him and run if they asked anything else.
"Where did you see this one before?"
I went to clamp my hand around Luffy's arm and remove him from the situation, when my boxing glove sized bandage hit his arm instead.
Right I can't grab him because my damn hands are broken!
I was really questioning my life choices, did I need to claw Kuzan? He wasn't really worth the trouble. I mean I didn't regret crushing the old geezer arm, he had that coming, but Kuzan was just a dumb mistake.
"I- I don't k-knooow what you mean..."
Luffy's lips puckered to the sided, turning his gaze away from Whitebeard. I stared at him through half lidded eyes, I wasn't even surprised he was such a terrible liar.
Clearly either was Whitebeard. He just frowned puzzlement on his face.
"I see..."
"Pffft Hahahaha You're a terrible liar, yoi"
The younger boy burst out laughing obnoxiously, he leapt down from the Yonko's arm, stumbling slightly as he landed, obviously not being able to see anything through the gauze.
Luffy shuffled awkwardly, looking away from the boy who staggered towards him.
"Nooooo, I dunno what you mean..."
"Seriously! Where did you see me I wanna know, yoi"
The raven stepped back, clinching his teeth as he tried to look as neutral as possible. The blonde was cheerily badgering him, though I got the feeling he was doing it to be annoying more than to actually get information.
Well I mean Luffy's lying skills were terrifyingly abysmal...
The Yonko was watching the boys with an entertained grin, he was leaning against the wall with his arms crossed.
This whole situation was just plain weird.
Whitebeard's POV
Newgate was certainly amused by the two brats, Marco was a snarky little bugger, any chance he could be a annoying, he would.
He felt bad for the other boy, even though the man wanted to know what he was hiding, he knew better than to ask for now.
The captain had a lot of questions for the two brats actually, but he would ask them at a later date when they trusted him more. Well the elder one did anyway, especially with him staring daggers at him.
What did the little one call him? Dragon? An odd name, then again, half his kids had odd names so that wasn't new.
Dragon was watching his brother carefully, distrust in his eyes. This was the kind of attitude Newgate expected, he was in a new place, with people he didn't know and it was completely understandable to be weary.
His little brother was the one that threw him off, he was just so friendly and trusting. The pirate was concerned with his behaviour, in the New World there was so many bad sorts out there, willing to stab anyone in the back for a bit of money. Being too trusting could literally get someone killed.
No wonder his big brother was so protective of him, it was obvious the way he hovered near his shoulder and watched his surroundings with unease. Clearly, he understood the dangers, he was willing to analyse a situation and discern the best course of action.
At least the little brat had someone to look out for him, Newgate wouldn't want anything to happen to the nice kid. Well now the Yonko was sure to keep anything from happening to either of them.
Marco was still being a little pain in the neck, though the teasing had devolved into squabble between the two boy. They were insulting each other with rather bad nicknames.
Dragon had a blank expression, maybe he had just shut it all off, little brothers were apparently irritating, that was according to several of his kids.
They couldn't stand around here all day, Newgate needed to get back topside anyway. It was a shame they couldn't have stayed at the island longer, the captain had visited the little isle many times over the years, not once had he ever encountered any Marines.
What Sengoku had accused him of bothered the Yonko. A Marine base was attacked with the Gura Gura no mi?
If it had been anyone else who had implicated such a thing Newgate would have dismissed it. But this was Sengoku, he had fought him for over 20 years, maybe more. He knew his devil fruit as well as the Yonko knew Sengoku's.
How could he have been mistaken?
Newgate sighed heavily, rubbing the back of his neck and deciding to put it to one side for now. He would look into it later on, he had other things to concern himself with.
He turned his tired eyes back to Marco and little brat, they seemed to have stopped arguing now, instead they were chattering and joking away to each other and their target seemed to be Dragon. The older brat was glaring at them with a look that screamed 'why am I here dealing with this?'
The captain snorted pushing himself off the wall, Dragon tensed up, scrutinizing the older man for any sign of a threat.
"Don't worry brat I'm not going to do anything to you or your brother."
"Brother?"
Newgate regarded the long haired raven confounded.
"Is he not?"
The brat bristled, stare hardening as he placed himself between the younger boy and Newgate.
"That's right he's my kid brother."
The Yonko studied him, he was quite threatening if he wanted to be, not that it really bothered Newgate. He was more concerned with mistakenly offending the kid.
He could fully appreciate that defensive urge to correct someone. Amount of people who had accused him of not having any children, just because he wasn't their biological parent. It angered the man to no end.
"Sorry about that..."
Dragon eyed him cautiously, he slowly backed down, turning away from the Yonko.
The brothers were complete opposites, it was ridiculous. Newgate wondered how one could be so friendly while the other was so hostile.
He had a feeling that gaining his trust was going to take awhile, hopefully the little one would help soften him up a bit. Though he wasn't entirely convinced.
Newgate sucked in a deep breath, the last few days hadn't been kind to him. He focused his attention on the two much more jovial kids, Marco was slowly getting closer to smacking into the wall, the older boy grabbed him by the collar pulling him away from doing just that.
Marco was completely oblivious to it, too busy asking questions and answering things the boy had queried.
The Yonko leant down to pick Marco up, who immediately began to stubbornly refuse to be carried. He guessed his son didn't want be carried around by his dad in front of his new friend.
Newgate found it all incredibly humorous, in the end he let the boy walk by himself after he'd embarrassed him enough.
"You brats coming top deck with us?"
The younger brother nodded almost instantly, Marco grinned cheerfully at him giving him a thumbs up, which he pointed in the wrong direction. Little brat didn't mention it, instead looking towards Dragon expectantly. The older brother just shrugged indifferently, his expression blank once again.
Newgate presumed that he had agreed, so he began to lead the way back to the summit of his ship.
