If you don't like 30 years before then that's fine, you don't need to tell everybody about it with vulgar language, there are underage people who read the comments and they don't need read stuff like that.
Secondly I'm not changing the story because some random doesn't like the story. Don't like it then go and read something else. Nobody is forcing you read this.
I'm writing this because I like it! Not for any other reason, this simply is self indulgent nonsense. It's a fanfic! Not something offensive.
Dragon's POV
I couldn't believe this mess... I leave Luffy alone for training for an hour and I come back to find half the ship destroyed.
Then I found out that it was only partially Luffy's fault, the other was culprit was Whitebeard. A supposedly responsible adult.
At this point I wasn't even that surprised. Just slightly stunned at their stupidity, I mean having an actual fight on a ship was just a bad idea, especially when those people had such destructive devil fruit powers.
I shook my head, initially I'd been sat in this bar, drinking coffee, which by the way was by far my favourite drink now. I'd been minding my own business, talking to a couple of the Yonko's crew, actually having a somewhat ordinary conversation, when the ship shook. We thought we were under attack, but no it was Luffy and the old man having a fight.
I thought they were meant to be training, according to the apprentices that's what it started out as. Until Luffy challenged Whitebeard, who, for some God damn reason accepted and then it slowly dissolved into whatever it became.
When we ran onto the top deck, we were met with destruction. Holes in the floor, several beams had been damaged and in the middle of it all was my dumb kid having a lecture from Whitebeard?
They were sat in the middle of the chaos, Luffy was trying and failing to punch the old man in the face, who had gotten the boy into a head lock and was pulling away at his rubber cheek. Honestly it didn't seem to be actually hurting him.
Then Atmos came storming over, I hadn't pegged the man for being the outraged sort. I was quickly proved wrong.
He laid into them, bad. Once again Whitebeard seem to actually listen to what he had to say. I really needed to know how he did that. Then again, the woman also got her word in too, only she wasn't nearly as nice. She seemed to have no problem swearing her face off, again, Whitebeard took note of her as well.
Maybe I needed to yell at the old man for him to listen to me, somehow, I doubted that would work. I don't think that has to do with what they said, but rather who it was saying it.
He clearly thought a lot of them, when I say that, I think that they had his respect. He respected them, he respected their opinions and would take them into consideration.
Then that meant that he didn't respect my opinion. Though I wasn't sure if that's what it was either.
Because for some reason, he had accepted to train Luffy or whatever it was, he had taken in what he had to say. Luffy, the most reckless and irresponsible person I knew.
Why? I didn't get it. Add that to the pile of things I don't understand about the man.
All I knew was that it annoyed me.
Though as I looked Luffy up and down for any bad injuries, there were none, well nothing overly serious anyway. A couple of scuffs here and there, some light cuts. Also, he wasn't dripping wet, which meant at no point had he been chucked overboard. That made me relax a little bit, so old man had kept his word.
I took a deep slow breath, regarding the scene before me, the one side argument had ended, it seemed as though Luffy and Whitebeard had to fix their own mess with the shipwright's supervision.
Well, I didn't really want to be part of that whole thing, fixing stuff was really one of my strengths. To be fair I couldn't imagine those two being much better though.
"Hey Dragon... you good?" I was startled abruptly by Rhys? Ryan? The dreadlocks guy, I really need to do something about my bad memory, I was becoming as bad as Luffy.
"Huh? Oh, yes. Fine. Is Luffy really going to be much help, he's pretty- well, he's just not great with this kind of stuff. I mean he might make it worse, I really don't feel like drowning..."
Well at I felt comfortable talking to Dreadlocks anyway, there was just something very lazy and uncaring about the way he spoke and acted. In fact, out of everyone on this damn ship, he was the one I actually didn't mind. He was probably the most chilled out person here, he just didn't seem to give a damn and I liked that. He was simple, nothing to complex or difficult to understand.
"Atmos is with 'em, he'll keep them in line. You be surprised how regularly this happens." The man smirked, shrugging.
"What do you mean...? Is this normal?" I asked a little unnerved.
"Ah, yeah. Pops and Fossa are the normal culprits. I guess Luffy too now."
"Isn't Fossa the canon guy with the fire sword? Isn't that kind of stuff dangerous on a wooden ship?"
"Oh, Mmmm yup. Don't worry we're pretty used to it. Someone always has an eye on him. Though he doesn't occasionally give us the slip. But, hey the Moby has burnt down yet." He answered off handily, he sounded pretty okay with it too.
"What the hell. Don't you care? And Whitebeard is the other one, he's the captain, shouldn't he know better?!" I asked, I really didn't like where this was going.
"Yeah. Pops is actually worse, that's why he's always helping out with repairs. Atmos is pretty protective over the ship, if you break something, he will make you fix it. Doesn't matter who it is."
I shook my head, these people were crazy, no wonder Luffy got on so well with them.
"Right, that's enough, I'm going back to my cabin." I nodded my head, yup, the sooner I got Luffy home, the sooner I could get off this crazy ship.
I marched over to my boy, for some reason he had perched himself on the old man shoulder, his face was bored and he twisted his hat around in his hands. Clearly, he wasn't listening to Atmos.
Whitebeard was stood, he had his back hunched and he was smiling down at his crew members with an apologetic smile. He didn't seem to care about Luffy being there, I wasn't sure if he had even noticed and if he had, he hadn't done anything about it.
What earth was Luffy doing up there, weren't the two of them fighting not long ago? I was half tempted to pull the kid off, though I wasn't sure how well that would go over.
I just didn't like him being so pally with a Yonko, he was still dangerous. Okay, yes, I had let him train with Whitebeard earlier, but I thought it would be with the apprentices. It worried me that, maybe Luffy would end up hurt, he would do the wrong thing and the old man would snap.
Luffy would be dead.
I flinched at that thought, I looked back up at him, he was still ignoring Atmos and he was perfectly fine. In fact, it almost looked like he would drop off at any moment.
Actually, that was something all in itself, normally Luffy wouldn't sit still, he couldn't sit still and yet here he was sat there quietly. Was he worrying about that thing from earlier?
"Luffy? You, okay?" Luffy didn't respond, he still had his eyes closed. On second look, perhaps he wasn't dozing off after all. He had a frown dug into his brow, deep in thought.
I tensed a little when the old man took notice of me, however he glanced up at the kid and gave him light prod.
"Oi. Lil' Brat, Dragon's talking to you."
In response Luffy scowled, having broken his train of thoughts and swatted the blonde man away in annoyance. I winced at his lack of caution, Whitebeard on the other hand seemed to be enjoying himself, poking away at him with a amused grin.
"Stop! Stop! Stop it Newgate I'm trying to think!" Luffy yelled.
I was taken back, since when had Luffy started call the Yonko that? He had always called him 'not so old' guy, why the sudden change? I scanned the older captain's face for any hints of surprise, but he didn't seem to react at all.
I had always figured Luffy couldn't remember his name or something. I thought back to when I first met him, he had called my Dra-guy. Then when we first woke up on this ship he had started calling me by my name. Though I know for a fact Luffy knew my name, but refused to call me by it until something happened. So, had something happened now?
So, maybe it was like respect thing? Surely he respected a Yonko right? No, wait this was Luffy, so probably not.
But he had gained his respect now, why?
"Really, what about?" Whitebeard asked, Luffy paused as if he was trying to figure out what he, himself was thinking about.
"What was that thing you did? I hit you, but you didn't use Armament haki to block it?"
The blonde man gave him a raised eyebrow, he almost looked impressed. "Noticed, did you?"
"Yeah. What is it?"
"Conquerors haki." The Yonko chuckled, this made Luffy frown, he looked confused. I had to admit, I was pretty puzzled too.
Wasn't Conquerors haki a will based haki? Like you knocked people out with your willpower. I wasn't sure, I knew I could use it, however I had never really given it much thought or even tried to consciously use it.
"Huh? So, you can do that with Conquerors haki? How?" This seemed to have piqued Luffy's interest, so he did think about stuff other than food.
"I'll tell you what, if you help with the ship repairs and you don't cause anymore problems, I'll teach you, how about that?"
Luffy paused for a second, before breaking into a big grin and nodded. "Okay! But seriously how do you do it? What other stuff can you do? Or it just to make yourself really tough?"
"As I said, help with this and I'll teach you alright."
Luffy huffed a little as he lept down from his shoulder, wandering over to help Atmos with carrying some planks of wood.
I watched as he got to work, doing what he was told for once, obviously he really wanted to learn this Conquerors haki technique.
I sighed, well at least he was okay. Maybe he was over his gut feeling after all.
"Dragon, do you use Conquerors haki? Would expect you can considering Luffy and that bastard are capable."
I glared up at the old man silently, it wasn't really any of his business.
"Still being a grump, are we?" Whitebeard sniggered, leaning down to my height, I really hated when he did that, he was way too close to my personal bubble.
"No, I don't know how." There I told him; would he get out of my face now?
The blonde man blinked in bewilderment, straightening up again.
"Really? You know it's a useful skill, especially considering a lot of people can't even use it. You should make the most out of-" I interrupted bristling slightly, would he butt out! "That's not your concern old man."
The Yonko narrowed his eyes at me, sighing heavily. I tensed not enjoying the look he was giving me.
"Alright have it your way. Just so you know I wouldn't mind teaching you..."
I turned away, this guy, he made my brain hurt and he had barely said anything to me and it was already making me irritated.
I know I didn't hate him. However, I also had no clue how to deal with him either. I would rather avoid the man if I could.
"Tch, doesn't matter..." I raised my voice a little to get Luffy's attention. "Lu! I'm going back to the cabin, don't sink the ship while I'm gone!"
Luffy poped his head out from behind Atmos, waving his hand cheerfully.
"Okay Dragon! See ya later!"
With that I turned around and left without another glance.
