Chapter 2~
Irredeemable
It was the beginning of winter nights in the fire country, and the town of Tanzaku Gai was lively as ever. The streets were filled with young couples, out there to try the various delicacies brought by the traders from all over the elemental nations. Children flooded the different game stalls, on the roadsides with their families, trying to win the prizes on display.
Among all these people, an exceptionally tall individual could be seen walking alone. He had waist-length, spiky white hair tied back into a ponytail, with two shoulder-length bangs framing his face. He wore a green short shirt kimono and matching pants, under which he wore a mesh armor that was visible at his wrists and ankles with forearm guards, a black belt, traditional Japanese wooden sandals, and a red haori with two yellow circles on each side.
A horned forehead protector with the kanji for 'oil'(油) was tied around his forehead and a large scroll was tied to his back. This man was none other than the Great Toad Sage of Mt. Myoūboku, Jiraiya of the legendary sanin.
'These young people are so lucky...' he thought crying anime tears, mentally cursing the young couples around him as he walked down the street.
He finally stopped in front of a bar and after taking a deep breath he entered the establishment. Looking around, his eyes finally fell upon the person he was looking for.
Sitting in the corner of the bar gulping down sake like water sat the slug princess, Tsunade Senju of the legendary sanin. She wore a grass-green haori with the kanji for "gamble" (賭) on the back, a grey kimono-style blouse with no sleeves, held closed by a broad, dark bluish-grey obi that matched her pants. She had brown eyes, and straight blonde hair that parted above her forehead, with shoulder-length bangs that framed her face, and a diamond-shaped, violet-colored seal on her forehead.
Even in her old age of 50, she was regarded as the most beautiful kunoichi, and the greatest medic to have ever lived across the elemental nations.
"Long time no see, Tsunade... you know, you are a really hard person to track down." Jiraiya greeted taking the seat opposite to her.
"Master Jiraiya!" a young woman sitting beside Tsunade greeted him. She had onyx eyes and jet-black shoulder-length straight hair, her bangs covered her ears and framed her face. She was wearing a long bluish-black kimono with white trimmings, held closed by a white obi and held her pet pig, named TonTon in her arms. Her name is Shizune Kato, she is Tsunade Senju's apprentice and also her niece.
Jiraiya sat down while waving his hand dismissively signaling her to sit down as well.
"Stop whining like a little brat, you are a spymaster, right? Or is the job getting too hard for your old bones?" Tsunade replied, slamming down the now empty sake bottle on the table.
Jiraiya sighed and poured himself a saucer, readying himself to break the news to her.
"We see each other after months and that's the first thing you bring up? You hurt my feelings, Tsunade."
"Cut the bullshit, tell me what I want to know... how is my little shinobi doing these days?" she asked. A pained smile crept on her face as she recalled, the face of the grandson she had left behind.
Jiraiya released a tired sigh seeing the expression on her face. 'I will just have to tell her this as it is..' he thought, mentally preparing himself for the storm that was approaching, he cleared his throat and began speaking.
"Sarutobi-sensei sent a messenger monkey. He has summoned back to the village... Naruto attacked someone, he has been put in prison as punishment."
He closed his eyes hearing the sound of furniture being crushed. 'I am sorry sensei...but this is for the best.' he thought and stood up.
"Lady Tsunade! Calm down please!" Shizune pleaded, trying her best to stop Tsunade but failing.
'That damn council will pay for this!' Tsunade thought as she stomped towards the hidden leaf village.
Konohagakure no sato
Hokage Tower
'I am getting too old to deal with all this shit...' Hiruzen thought massaging his temples.
Bear had just turned in his report and it greatly worried the old Hokage. It has been two months since Naruto was released from the prison facility; two months since the seal was removed and he started his jinchuriki training; two months since they found out he could use the Adamantine Chains of the Uzumaki clan...
Hiruzen frowned recalling his visit to Naruto, the boy straight up refused to talk anything about why he jumped off the cliff. Hiruzen could tell that Naruto no longer trusted him, and his duties as the Hokage, left him no time to try and mend their relationship.
'I guess we'll just have to wait till Jiraiya returns...' he thought and stamped another paper from the pile on his desk.
Suddenly, loud stomping noises started coming from outside his office. He was about to order one of his Anbu guards to check on what it was about, but before he could say anything his office door flew open towards him.
Four Anbu guards landed in front of him, swatting away the broken door they took a defensive formation around their supreme leader.
Hiruzen raised his eyebrows in surprise when his eyes fell upon the person who had barged into his office like that. He snapped his fingers getting the Anbu guard's attention to him.
"Leave us alone. I will be fine," he ordered. The Anbu guards looked at their kage, unsure if it was the right thing to do, but followed nonetheless.
"It's quite a dangerous way to greet your teacher like this, don't you think, Tsunade?" he asked stamping another paper, completely ignoring the killing intent aimed at him.
"I am sorry sensei, I tried stopping her but she won't listen. You know how she is..." Jiraiya spoke jumping inside the office, from the window.
'Oh, that explains her killing intent I guess.' Hiruzen thought and stood up from his chair lighting his pipe.
"Explain yourself sensei," Tsunade spoke glaring at Hiruzen while cracking her knuckles. Her look would have scared off any lesser shinobi but, Hiruzen wasn't hailed as the 'God of Shinobi' for nothing.
'Impatient as ever I see...' he thought looking at her and sighed. He placed the stamp down and blitzed through a set of hand seals. Placing his hand on the wall, he activated the privacy barrier of his office.
He turned back towards his students and pointed his finger towards the couch.
"Let's calm down and take a seat first," he spoke and walked past them.
Tsunade clenched her fists in anger but there was nothing she could do, he was the only one who could give her the answers she needed. She bit her lower lip to control her anger, and proceeded to take a seat on the couch.
Jiraiya just silently sat down on the couch beside a fuming Tsunade, keeping a safe distance from her.
Hiruzen placed two cups of tea in front of them and proceeded to take his seat.
"It happened on C- rank mission turned A- rank in the wave country..." and with that Hiruzen began explaining everything to them.
"He jumped off the cliff?!" Tsunade asked, all her anger washing away and getting replaced by worry.
"Calm down Tsunade, I told you he didn't get hurt. That's when he first activated the Adamantine Chains..." Hiruzen replied, taking a drag from his pipe.
"Then what has gotten you so concerned sensei?" Jiraiya asked catching on to the underlying worry in his tone.
Hiruzen released a tired sigh and leaned back, "... according to Bear's report, Naruto's training has been going well, and he has been able to control one-tail amount of the beast's reserve but..."
"But what sensei?!" Tsunade asked, getting impatient. She never like the way he left off in between.
"... I thought the side effects were because he didn't inherit his clans' talent, and it somewhat relieved me when the Anbu reported about him using the Adamantine Chains, I believed there wouldn't be any side-effects anymore, but I was wrong..." he released another tired sigh, and took a puff from his pipe to calm down his nerves.
"According to the Anbu's latest report, the nine tails isn't letting Naruto sleep." he finished and the room went dead silent, as he waited for them to process the information.
The silence was finally broken by Tsunade, "Like the Sunagakure jinchuriki...you think he is...? Do you mean he is-"
As if already knowing what she was about to ask, Hiruzen shook his head in negative, "No, he isn't unstable. I have my medics check on him regularly, he's fine but has become a lot quieter than he was..." he spoke with a frown.
"Do you think that something is wrong, with the seal?" she asked looking at Hiruzen with a helpless expression.
"No, I don't think Minato of all people would screw up at sealing but I guess, checking on the seal is the first thing we should," Jiraiya spoke and stood up.
"Good. That's one of the main reasons I summoned you back. We'll discuss the rest later, let's go see him right now. " Hiruzen spoke, and started walking towards the door with Jiraiya following behind.
They stopped at the office door and turned around to see Tsunade still sitting on the couch, staring blankly at the table.
"You don't wanna go see your little blondie Tsunade?" Jiraiya asked breaking her out of her daze.
She glared at him and stood up. "What made you think I won't?!" she spoke stomping past them out of the Hokage tower.
The Western Cliffs
"You know what captain, I am not bothered by this assignment anymore. The kid isn't annoying, and seeing him work so hard makes me want to train myself. But yeah, he's weird for sure," Crow spoke as he heard another blast near the cliffs.
"Can't disagree with any of that. I thought that lord Hokage was leaving us to babysit him, but this is much better than any of our other guarding assignments." Bear replied walking out of the tent adjusting his mask.
"Yeah, but the kid could do better being more social. Sometimes I feel like we are still holding him in a prison," Crow spoke sheathing his tanto on his back.
"I would say Insane is the better word, to explain what he is. Anyways it's time for your shift, Captain." Weasel spoke landing in front of the tent as another blast could be heard.
"Nah, he's just hardworking. Don't you remember us during recruit training?" Crow replied sheathing his tanto.
"We didn't train like this, or more like we can't train like this, it is crazy," Weasel replied folding his arms.
"Well, we didn't need training like that. The council will kill him if he doesn't learn to control the beast. Now, let's go, Crow." Bear spoke and started walking towards the edge of the cliff with Crow following him but suddenly stopped in their tracks.
'It's them.' were the thoughts of the three Anbu before they turned around and knelt down.
"Lord Hokage!" they greeted their leader.
Hiruzen snapped his fingers, signaling them to follow him, and started heading towards the edge of the cliff.
"How's he doing?" he asked walking past them with Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Shizune following behind.
"Everything's fine my lord. Hawk is guarding him right now, we were about to change shifts." Boar replied and started following them with the other two Anbu following behind.
"That's good to hear," Hiruzen spoke as they continued moving towards the edge of the cliff.
'Captain is sure taking his sweet time.' Hawk thought, sitting at the edge of the cliff swinging his legs back and forth.
He turned around when he heard footsteps, his eyes widened behind his mask in surprise when he saw the Hokage and two of the legendary sanin walking towards him.
"Lord Hokage!" he greeted, hurriedly getting back to his feet.
"At ease, Hawk. Where is he right now?" Hiruzen asked, stopping a few meters away from Hawk.
"Umm...down there my lord..." Hawk answered, in a low voice, pointing his finger down the edge of the cliff. "... he seems to be practicing Taijutsu." he finished.
Hiruzen nodded and stepped forward to stand at the edge of the cliff, followed by Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Shizune.
Crow and Weasel stifled a laugh seeing the stupefied looks on their faces.
With Naruto
Naruto tilted his head avoiding the claw swipe of his Shadow Clone. He jumped up and stuck to the spike above them, avoiding the other clone's kick from behind.
'I am getting a hang of it now.' he thought panting heavily. He stared down at the two clones, who were covered in flaming orange shrouds of tailed beast chakra, and got back into his fighting stance. He gave them a slight nod and charged back towards them.
A grin crept over Hiruzen's face seeing Naruto match his clones blow for blow.
'He's trying to match the beast's chakra level by making his Shadow Clones use it against him, and look at him he's succeeding in doing so. That's my boy Naruto!' he thought looking at Naruto with pride-filled eyes.
"That is insane... " the words escaped Shizune's lips unknowingly as she gazed at the blood dripping down from the cuts on his body as he continued sparring with his Shadow Clones.
Weasel elbowed Crow's arm hearing this, "I told you, Insane's the correct word him." he whispered.
"Fetch him for us, there are important matters we need to deal with, matters that concern him. " Jiraiya spoke and started walking back towards the tent.
"Yes sir!" Hawk replied and started jumping down the spikes to get Naruto.
"Let's go, Tsunade," Hiruzen spoke placing a hand on her shoulder but got no reply, no reaction.
'He's grown up soo much...What was I even thinking returning back after all these years? I can't even tell him that he's my grandson...' She thought, her gaze fixed at the grandson she was forced to leave behind...
Hiruzen gave her shoulder a gentle squeeze breaking her out of the daze she was in.
"Yeah let's go..." she finally replied. Turning back, she wiped off the tears that threatened to fall.
"Okay, I am done. You can stand back up." Jiraiya spoke removing his hand from Naruto's seal.
"So, did you find anything?" Hiruzen asked, looking at Jiraiya expectantly.
Jiraiya brought his right hand to his chin, taking a thinking pose, and hummed. "The seal has just loosened, letting some of the nine-tailed Fox's chakra flow, into his body as it was supposed to do. The only thing I can say is the seal isn't able to fully restrain the beast. My advice will be to tame the beast's complete chakra, that should solve the problem." he replied, sagely nodding to himself in the end.
"That means, I'll be an insomniac for quite a few years... Thanks anyway I guess. If that's all then, I'll return back to my training, Lord third." Naruto replied putting his shirt back on.
Hiruzen frowned hearing Naruto use his formal title. It was unnerving for him, every time he did that it reminded him that he no longer had his trust.
"Yeah, I believe that's all. You can go Naruto," he replied and released a tired sigh.
Naruto nodded in reply and turned back. He started walking towards the exit but stopped when he heard Tsunade calling him.
"Wait!" she exclaimed, stepping forward she placed her hand over his forehead as he turned back.
'What the..?!' Naruto looked at his arms in amazement as her hand started glowing green and the cuts on his body began to heal.
"T-try not to train so recklessly ag-gain, okay?" she stuttered out. Looking at him with a pained smile on her face, she stepped back and abruptly turned back, hiding away the tears that threatened to fall in front of him.
'Lady Tsunade...' Shizune looked at her teacher with a pained expression. Seeing her in such a helpless state pained her... but she could do nothing about the situation...
"Thanks... my lady" Naruto replied with a respectful bow. He turned around to exit the tent only to be stopped again, this time by Jiraiya.
"You know, you should stop wasting your time training taijutsu, and put all your focus on controlling the beast's power. The immense power will cover up for your lack of skill. " Jiraiya spoke folding his hands.
Naruto stepped out of the tent and turned his head around to look directly at Jiraiya.
"I appreciate your concern, master Jiraiya, but no thanks, I prefer doing things my own way," he replied and Body flickered away to his training area.
"What was that about Jiraiya?" Hiruzen asked folding his arms and narrowing his eyes on Jiraiya.
"I was just stating the facts sensei, he's wasting time training like that on his own. Minato didn't leave him with the nine tai-" Jiraiya started explaining but was cut off by Hiruzen.
"I am the Hokage, and I am satisfied," his tone making it clear that he won't consider anymore of his arguments.
"Fine, I won't say anything more about it... " Jiraiya replied grumbling under his breath.
Hiruzen turned his head towards the other end of the tent when he heard sobbing sounds. His eyes softened seeing Tsunade slumped down to the ground, on her knees, and tears rolling down her face.
'What would I even say if he asked why I abandoned him..?... The truth? That the council took him away?...and that I left him behind, all alone...' She felt miserable, he was right in front of her, and yet there was nothing she could say.
Hiruzen looked down, ashamed of himself for not being able to go against the council elders and let Tsunade take Naruto with her, away from the village. Jiraiya placed a comforting hand on his shoulder seeing his regretful expression.
'Not anymore...I will get him back.' Tsunade thought clenching her fists. She stood up wiping off her tears and exited the tent with Shizune following her with TonTon
"My Lady," Boar greeted seeing Tsunade and Shizune walking towards him.
"What is he doing right now?" Tsunade asked and proceeded to stand at the edge of the cliff.
"Water element manipulation, my lady," Boar responded.
"So water is his element..." she spoke looking at Naruto, he was standing near the waterfall holding a half ram seal with his right hand, his left hand outstretched with some water swirling around it.
"No, my lady, Lord Hokage himself tested his natural affinity. He has a natural affinity for wind and lightning but he chose to train water first..."
"Isn't it too early for him to train something like elemental manipulation?" Shizune asked.
"You are not wrong, it is early... Lord Hokage decided to let him learn this to help him with his training. It's helping him control the beast's chakra." Boar replied.
"Must have read it from Granda Mito's scrolls," Tsunade spoke, her gaze still fixed on Narut. "Why did he choose to train water manipulation?" she asked with a confused expression. It was rare for someone born in the fire country to be a user of water manipulation, it was the most difficult element to master. The number of good water element users, in the fire country, can easily be counted on one hand.
"He admires the second Hokage and aims to achieve what made lord Tobirama feared. That's what he told Lord third when he asked him the same question as you." Boar replied.
'He admires granduncle, huh?' Tsunade thought and a fond smile appeared on her face.
"He sure knows how to set almost an impossible goal for himself," she spoke.
Her face turned serious as she turned towards boar, directly looking at him. "Tell me Yamato, how has he actually been ever since all this started?"
"My lady! you can't use my real name here!" Boar replied, frantically looking around to check for anyone may have heard it.
"Just answer my question, how has he been..?" she asked again, looking at him with a pleadingly.
Boar sighed and rubbed the back of his head. "He is not okay, lady Tsunade, his behavior is what I am referring to. Don't get me wrong, despite what everyone says, he is a very respectful boy, but..."
"But what?" Tsunade asked impatiently.
"...he is isolating himself too much. For the last two months, the only interaction he had with us is when we ask him about food other than that he only talk to Weasel sometimes about seals. He trains all day and meditates all night to control the beast, the only time he gets any rest is when he meditates. It's scary, it reminds me too much of Danzo...that's how he expected me to train under him." he spoke.
Tsunade frowned deeply. 'I can't let Danzo get his hands on Naruto.' she thought clenching her fists.
"Shizune..."
"Yes my lady?!" Shizune asked startled by the sudden change in Tsunade's tone.
"Stay here till he's done and heal him when he's done. Meet me at the clan compound after that, we are not leaving the village this time." She ordered. 'I will make it up to him somehow. I refuse to accept that I am irredeemable.' she thought as she stomped back towards the tent.
With Naruto
Naruto dispelled his clones seeing the position of the sun. He dropped to his knees panting heavily, exhausted from his training. He abruptly turned back sensing someone near him.
"You know, lady Tsunade advised you not to train recklessly, and just look at the state you are in," Shizune spoke landing on the spike Naruto was on. "Here," she said, stretching out her hand towards him. Naruto took her hand gratefully and stood back up to his feet.
"Stay still like that" Shizune spoke and placed her hand on his forehead. 'Mystical Palm Jutsu' she thought, and her hand began glowing green.
'That's a really useful technique..." he thought as the wounds on his body began healing.
"There you go!" Shizune spoke removing her hand from his forehead.
"You stayed back to heal me?" he asked.
"Lady Tsunade asked me to," she replied, and TonTon oinked. "Is something wrong?" she asked looking at his blank expression.
"No, it's nothing. Thanks for healing me, lady Shizune," he replied with a respectful nod.
'I don't know why but his expression is a bit unnerving...' she thought, staring at him.
"Something wrong?" he asked seeing her look.
Shizune shook her head in negative. "No...I was just thinking about what the Anbu guards told us. They said you haven't left this place for the last two months," she spoke looking around.
"Well, this is the best place to be for me, out of the public eye, a perfect place to train. You must already know, people don't like me being around them," he replied with a small sad smile.
"It's very nice of you to be considerate about how others feel. But you should think more about what's good for you" Shizune spoke and TonTon oinked in agreement
Naruto closed his eyes and reopened them after a second.
"EEP!" Shizune exclaimed and jumped back when she saw crimson slitted eyes and the thick whiskers whisker marks on his face. TonTon jumped down from her arms and took cover behind her legs.
"Would you say the same when you see me like this..." he asked making Shizune and TonTon even more scared, with his elongated canines and that growling tone.
His eyes reverted back to their usual blue with a hint of purple around the pupils. The whisker marks completely disappeared from his cheeks. He stepped back, a sad smile on his face. "...because this is how everyone else sees me," he said and turned around. "Have a good night, lady Shizune." he completed and Bodyflickered away.
Shizune finally released the breath she didn't even realize she was holding in. TonTon jumped back to her arms and oinked.
'I guess I worsened it for him...'
Hokage Tower
(Council meeting chamber)
"So it's decided, the northern district barriers will be modified by Jiraiya," Koharu spoke.
'I swear every time I am here, I question grandfather's decision of letting civilians have a seat on the council and sensei's decision of letting his teammates have a say in the decisions.' Tsunade thought sitting at her place as the Senju clan head, on the shinobi council.
How did she end up here? Well, Hiruzen told her about the council meeting about internal security and the topic of Naruto was surely to come up, she couldn't say no to that now can she? An annoyed look crept on her face seeing Danzo beginning to speak.
"Lord Hokage, the jinchuriki's progress is indeed impressive, but are we sure where his loyalties lie?" Danzo spoke gaining a questioning look from the Hokage.
"What do you exactly mean by ' where his loyalties lie ', Danzo?" Hiruzen asked and all eyes turned towards the old war Hawk.
"I mean what assurance do we have that he won't use the power for himself. How can we be sure he won't attack our village with that power under his control. That power should only be used for the good of the leaf village!" he spoke and the civilian council roared up in agreement.
'This man just loves riling them up...troublesome.' Shikaku thought and sighed seeing the civilians' reaction.
"SILENCE!" Hiruzen shouted stopping the commotion. He glared at each of the civilian council members, daring them to be shout about anything again.
"My personal anbu guards are keeping an eye on his every activity. Four members of the Fourth Hokage's honor guard, oblong to the group guarding him. I believe that's enough assurance," he spoke.
"That doesn't make sure that he won't betray the village!" exclaimed one of the civilian council members. Slowly murmurs of the agreement began.
"Yeah, he's right!"
"We won't be able to deal with another nine tails attack!"
'It's going all according to my plan...' Danzo thought and began to raise his hand, but he stopped when he heard Tsunade speak up.
"Would you people shut it already!?" Tsunade spoke, annoyance clear in her tone. The whole room went silent for a moment, which was broken by Homura.
"This is a matter of great concern princess Tsunade, we won't survive another attack like 14 years ago," Homura spoke.
"If you are all so concerned about this then, I'll stay back here in the village and look after the kid with my apprentice," Tsunade announced getting surprised looks from all the council members.
"You people will also benefit from being around to help the medical research department right?" she added before anyone else could say anything.
'Well done Tsunade.' Hiruzen thought mentally smirking.
"How will you looking after him change anything?!" Koharu retorted asked.
"Let me guess you old coots want him to go through the foundation's emotion controlling training or bullshit, right?" she asked and smirked seeing them grit their teeth and nod.
Tsunade folded her arms and shook her head. "How can you all be so stupid. That kid's drawing chakra from the nine-tailed trickster demon fox. Do you really think you can trick him to be an emotionless tool for yourselves?" You have gone senile with old age." she spoke glaring at the three village elders.
She cleared her throat gaining everyone's attention and began speaking again, "I can keep a check on the kid's mental health to make sure he doesn't go berserker on us. And in the case he does go, berserker, we have a wood release user and I believe no one questions my prowess with sealing arts."
The whole room went dead silent, even the mouse under the table didn't make a sound.
"I agree with lady Tsunade's offer. Having her stay in the village is our best option." Tsume spoke, finally breaking the silence of the room.
"I am in favor as well," Hiashi spoke in his usual stoic tone.
"This meeting is such a drag...I am in favor as well." Shikaku Nara spoke and returned back to his nap with a satisfied smile on his face.
"I agree as well." Choza, the Akimichi clan head spoke.
Hiruzen smirked and cleared his throat getting everyone's attention, "I am in favor as well and I believe that's a majority vote."
He looked around the table to see the pissed-off faces of the civilian council and the village elders, well Danzo hid it behind his emotionless mask, but after years of knowing the man, Hiruzen could tell he was fuming on the inside.
"Then this decision is final," he announced. "I believe that covers all the matters that needed to be discussed, the meeting is dismissed!" he spoke looking down at the file in front of him.
'You might have won this one because of her Sadrutobi, but even she wouldn't be able to help you forever. He will be mine someday and I will take my rightful place as the Hokage! you just wait' Danzo thought exiting the chambers with his old teammates.
"I thought you were gonna leave again," Hiruzen said seeing Tsunade moving towards the exit.
She stopped and turned back to face him with narrowed eyes. "With what I saw today, I am sure there wouldn't be a village left for me to return to. You have surrounded yourself with people who just want power sensei," she spoke folding her arms.
"I know, but it isn't easy to get rid of them, They have gained enough influence over the village that I can't disband the civilian council," he replied looking at the portraits of the previous Hokage helplessly
"Slowly get rid of them, make the Anbu black ops do what they are trained for. My grandfather trusted our people too much and you are facing the consequences of his actions." Tsunade spoke and stomped out of the room.
'And I'll be damned if I let them take my family away from me again...'
"I guess she's not wrong about that..." Hiruzen spoke, he released a long tired sigh and pulled out his pipe exiting the room at last with his Anbu guards following from the shadows.
For a ninja village council, these people are really careless. Noone noticed the mouse under the table disappearing in a puff of smoke
With Naruto
Naruto hummed as the information from his Shadow Clone reached him. 'Well, look's like that old man Danzo wants the nine tail's power under his command. I wish I could thank Lady Tsunade for saving my ass there...Well, I still have to thank her for asking lady Shizune to stay back and heal me...' he thought, tossing firewood into his campfire.
"Hey, If you want to you can come to eat with us, dinners ready!" Snake shouted landing on a spike a few meters above Naruto.
"I have got plenty of my own food!" Naruto shouted back holding up a grilled fish in his hand.
"Okay. Just tell us if you need something," Snake shouted and started jumping up the cliff.
Naruto turned his head back sensing an unfamiliar signature behind him.
'A mountain hound?' he thought seeing the creature as it growled at him.
"Here, we can share I have got plenty," he spoke and placed the grilled fish on the ground beside him. He tapped the ground signaling the mountain hound to eat it.
The hound slowly began taking cautious steps towards Naruto. Seeing Naruto concentrating on his own food he slowly sat down and began eating the fish.
"Got thrown out of your pack, eh?" Naruto asked looking placing another fish in front of the hounds. The howl growled back in reply.
"Don't worry I am not judging, I am an outcast myself." he continued tossing a piece of firewood inside the campfire.
"*Bark*" the hound replied making naruto chuckle.
"Yeah, your right life's tough. Shit keeps happening, but we just gotta keep trying," he spoke and both continued their conversation while eating.
"I guess it's time for me to go back to training, Thanks for the talk you are a great company, you know. Come back anytime you need food. " Naruto spoke standing up.
'It's midnight I should get started with my meditation' Naruto thought and started walking towards the waterfall but stopped after a few steps and turned back.
"Hey, do you think that I am irredeemable for being something I never asked to be?" he asked looking towards the mountain dog with a pained expression.
The hound stood up and started walking away.
'I guess, you don't know it either...' Naruto thought looking down. His head snapped up hearing the hound's growl.
"*bark*" the hound replied turning back to face Naruto.
Naruto stood there blankly staring at the sky for a moment and then smiled closing his eyes.
"Yeah...I suppose you are right, it doesn't matter if I am, will just have to keep moving forward knowing that..."
