It started with one video.
Everyone at Midtown knew that Flash Thompson was a clout chaser. It was really telling with all the LIVE videos he'd have in between classes or during field trips. Something about Flash mob? Anyways, the important thing was that everyone at Midtown also knew that Flash Thompson not so subtly had a conspiracy YouTube account.
It was glorious.
Peter had found his first video on a late night of YouTube after he left for patrol and saw a little too much blood to fall asleep. It was titled, 'Nick Fury: is he secretly a Furry?'
Peter also knew that anyone else would think its complete and other bullshit.
He clicked on it anyway.
Why wouldn't he watch a video Flash made that made him look stupid? Just because he didn't actively get payback doesn't mean he didn't enjoy watching him talk shit out of his ass.
"Hello, Flashmob! Today, I'll be talking about something a little different than our norm," hearing a drumroll sound play, he continued, "I'm going to talk about something I've been investigating for a while now." Seeing the title on a blackout screen, Peter couldn't help but question everything in his life. He had no idea why Flash would want to ask that question specifically nor why he decided to put some stupidly upbeat and happy music as his background audio, but he was listening.
"Now, I know what you'll tell me. Nick Fury is obviously not a furry but hear me out." Then, Flash started to rant on about his 'findings'. "…and let's be honest. He looks like a snapping turtle. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he turned out to be a closeted mutant. Just saying." Did he just compare Nick Fury to a… snapping turtle? Well, Peter supposed that he had a point. Nick Fury did look like a snapping turtle.
But, let's be real. Everyone knew that Nick Fury was a superspy who did what he wanted. Peter wouldn't put it past him to start hunting down a teenager for ranting about whether or not he was a furry. It just isn't something people should talk about, you know?
"…and I get it. You may say, 'Flash, this is obviously evidence that suggest that Nick Fury doesn't like animals, especially after he walked past that one dog,' and I'd be inclined to agree with you. Normally. Except," seeing a picture of Nick Fury's press conference about the battle of Sokovia a few years ago gradually zoom in, Flash's face abruptly appeared on the screen. "I saw this." Seeing him circle something on the picture, Peter squinted a bit, "What is it you ask? It's," hearing an ominous thud, "cat hair. That's right, Flashmob, it's cat hair. Why would Nick Fury, who so obviously hates animals, have cat hair on his clothes?"
"That's right. I suspect he ate it. Everyone knows that cats sometimes attack turtles. Being a superspy that has a history of being petty, see," putting up his hand to show an insert of two pictures, "this and this, I wouldn't put it past him to eat a cat out of petty pride."
This… made a surprising amount of sense.
That's how it started. Every week after that, Flash would put out a conspiracy video that got increasingly… problematic.
"Is Groot actually God?! We all know that Groot only says the words 'I am Groot' but you know what the reminds me of? Exodus. It could be a variation of Exodus 3:14, 'I am that I am'." Like a machine, he kept going, "I did my research, guys. You know what else I found? Yggdrasil. The world tree. You know what else is a tree? Groot. I'll let you connect the dots."
Peter, Ned and MJ were all living for it, setting aside one day of the week to specifically watch the video and just… cackle. It was surprisingly stress relieving, like therapy but without all the baggage.
It wasn't until his latest video, however, that he really started getting attention. His video, "What are the real qualifications to becoming an Avenger?" hit 100,000 views because of a tumblr post that went viral.

Is no one going to talk about that one kid who just comes up with increasingly outrageous avengers theories? I mean, that one video where he debated whether or not quicksilver was really fast or was the rest of the world actually just in slow motion? OR THAT ONE VIDEO WHERE THE KID SAID GROOT WAS FUCKING GOD? Well, he has a new video on the qualifications of the Avengers and it… oddly makes sense.

Seriously staring into the camera, Flash sits in the middle of the room, in the background, a bulletin board filled to the brim with pictures connected with red yarn could be seen. "What are the real qualifications to becoming an Avenger? Everyone knows that Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanov, Wanda Maximoff, and Clint Barton are no longer considered Avengers with the recent falling out in Leipzig last year. With the New Avengers Initiative's recent statement on the introduction of the vigilantes, Daredevil, Deadpool, and Venom, it begs the question… what are the qualifications of becoming an Avenger?"
A close-up of Tony appeared on the screen, "Tony Stark has recently attended the MET gala decked out in a complete Giorgio Armani suit and tie. A noticeable addition to the ensemble would be this," zooming to Tony's arm, they could see the Iron Man bracelet that Peter gave him, "this particular bracelet could be seen in every picture that Tony Stark has been in in the past 4 months. This can also be seen when Tony Stark attended the Oscarn Fashion show together with his intern, Peter Parker, who was wearing a similar bracelet that was black instead."
Obviously getting into the groove, Flash turned and pointed at a picture of Pepper on his bulletin board. "Recently, Pepper Potts hosted a press conference at Stark Industries for their latest StarkPhone and what was she wearing? That's right, Flashmob! She was wearing a similar bracelet." Showing a close-up of Pepper's arc-reactor-blue bracelet, Flash continued, "I know what you will say, 'Flash, what if it's just a Stark Industries thing?' Well, let's look at some people's encounters with the Queens' superhero, Spider-man. Everyone knows that he gives away Spider-man themed bracelets to people who are especially nervous and wears one himself."
"Furthermore, we see recently reinstated, Falcon, sporting a red bracelet with a falcon head in the center during their mission in California last month, as well as Storm with a bracelet with varying shades of purple in their post-mission interview after they took down a HYDRA base last week."
"The obvious conclusion is that the qualification of becoming an Avengers is that they have to earn their bracelet. The one of the earliest sightings of the bracelet was on Tony Stark when he was boarding a plane, on his way to the UN Summit 6 months ago. The Avengers Initiative started what would be a year ago now. Spider-man only started sporting the bracelet 7 months ago, a whole month before Tony Stark. The Falcon only started wearing the bracelet last month when he's been in the team for two already. Why did they start wearing the things on different times? Is it the one sign that they were an official Avenger? You connect the dots."

I just saw that video that that one tumblr post talked about and it's… surprisingly legit? I never noticed but Tony Stark ALWAYS wears that bracelet. I even found a picture of him ordering food with his intern pparker and ? Both of them are wearing their bracelets? Even HAPPY HOGAN HAS ONE
