Cat

"Ow!"

"Hold still idiot!" Manami growled as she focused on sealing the gash on Shisui's arm.

Manami had woken up that morning in Shisui's apartment with a smile on her face as the birds chirped melodiously from the window as the sunrays crept into the room, softly waking her up from the best sleep she had had in quite some time. She had been staying with Shisui during her visit to Konoha as an ambassador for the Hidden Mist village. Things were slowly but steadily progressing in her beloved mist covered village and other leaders were beginning to change their perspectives and realize that the era of the 'Bloody Mist' had finally reached its end.

As Kirigakure continued to make positive changes, Manami happily noticed that more and more leaders were reaching out to her aunt with offers to form alliances.

Positive change was happening in the Hidden Mist, and while Manami couldn't have been prouder of her village, and the civilians and the shinobi who dedicated every waking moment ushering in a new and better era for the Mist, she found herself busier than ever, which meant that she wasn't able to spend as much time with Shisui as she would have liked. That was precisely why the moments when she was able to visit him meant so much to her. However, that didn't mean that she wasn't tempted to strangle the curly haired Uchiha every now and then.

On rare occasions, she wanted to drench him in her lava style jutsu, and it just so happened that that morning was going to be one of those occasions.

After Manami had wiped the sleep from her eyes, she took her time stretching out her limbs which were slightly exhausted from her journey Kiri to Konoha. Just when she was about to exit the bedroom, she heard the front door slam open followed by a series of curses.

Alarmed Manami had darted out of the room and into the hallway, where a disheveled Shisui was standing with blood dripping down one arm and the other hand was holding onto a brown take out bag, which Manami guessed was supposed to be breakfast.

"Shisui-kun! What happened!?" She asked as she rushed over to him, taking the food out of his grasp before leading him over to the couch. Her emerald eyes filled with concern. "Sit down, let me take a look at your arm."

Shisui obey as he allowed her to pull him his sleeve. Manami winced, there were three long and deep gashes that ran from the top of his arm to his hand. Manami didn't hesitate as she immediately began focusing chakra into her hands as she began to perform basic ninjutsu on his arm.

"I didn't know you knew medical ninjutsu, Manami-chan." Shisui said as he slightly winced.

Manami furrowed her eyebrows as she continued to focus her attention to his arm, "How did this even happen?"

A moment of silence passed, before Shisui finally let out a long sigh. "It was the cat."

"The cat?" Manami asked in disbelief.

"Yeah, you know, the cat." Shisui said his voice thick with embarrassment. "There's a cat that usually comes around this area in the morning. It normally ignores me but this morning it came right up to me. So, naturally, I held out a hand to pet it and well… let's just say that that's how the injury happened." He used his other hand to gesture at his wound that Manami had finished closing.

She shot him a blank stare before saying in a deadpan voice, "You got this injury… from a cat?"

"Umm, yeah." Shisui responded as his cheeks turning red. "Ow!"

"Idiot." Manami said as she used her hand to whack the back of his head again. "I can't believe you're able to complete S-ranked missions without getting a scratch, but the neighborhood cat is able to nearly rip your arm off."

Shisui couldn't help but laugh at her statement and while she tried to resist giving in, Manami soon started to laugh as well. Sure, Shisui was an idiot, but he was her idiot and she loved him for it.
