A woman's scream echoes across the room inside the Liberio Internment Hospital. The source is coming from the second floor in room 2B.
"Come on, Miss Yeager! Almost there!" said a voice from inside the room. This came from one of the five doctors and nurses in the room. On the bed is a young woman. The woman is fair-skinned, bright brown eyes, and long black hair.
"Carla! Just one more big push!" a female nurse instructed as she grabbed the woman named Carla, who just responded by gasping, her legs and arms tensing up.
Carla gritted her teeth as tears streamed from her eyes as she felt her muscles contract. The doctors tried her best to calm her down, but it didn't take away her pain.
"Almost there. Carla, look at me!" the head doctor said, and Carla looked at her.
"Is...Is it almost out?" panted Carla. The doctor gestured his head in an unsure motion.
"Almost. You just need one more push!" he said. Carla grunted.
"Are you kidding me, doctor?! I've been pushing as hard as I can!" Carla grunted. The doctor nodded.
"I know! It's just...the baby's a little bit bigger than we thought. Just push! Just one more!" he instructed. Carla groaned, but she did as she was instructed to do. She gritted her teeth and grunted, tears streaming down once more as she pushed as hard as she could.
Eventually, Carla felt her body relaxing, and her head flopped to the pillow below. Her face was covered with sweat. She closed her eyes as she took in deep breaths.
"Miss Yeager?" asked a male nurse. Carla moved her eyes to look ahead. The doctors looked at her, their masks hiding their smiles as the nurse pulled something up.
"We got it out!" he said, and he showed Carla what he was holding.
It was a baby!
Carla looked at it, and she felt her heart yearn for the baby. The nurse looked down, chuckling.
"It appears to be breathing fine. Here." he explained. Carla weakly lifted her hands as the doctor laid the baby on her chest. Carla and the baby made physical contact, and Carla continued to feel immense love for the baby. She lifted her hand up and gently caressed its cheek. The baby hummed at the gesture, and Carla smiled. After a while, the head doctor gently tapped her shoulder.
"Carla?" he asked. Carla looked up.
"We need to take the baby for further health examinations. He appears to be fine, but we must make sure." he explained. Carla frowned, not wanting to be separated from her newborn so soon. But she knew that it is for the good of her baby's health. So, she nodded, allowing the doctor to pick him up and take him to the nurses, allowing them to take him away.
For the next few minutes, the doctors and Carla cared for her as best as they could. Carla, thankfully, was doing well. She had her eyes closed as she rests her body.
Then, there was a knock at the door. The doctors turned and saw another woman peering her head inside.
"Is this the room of Doctor Fritz?" she asked. The head doctor, Doctor Fritz, nodded.
"The patient has some visitors who want to see her." she explained. Doctor Fritz frowned a bit.
"I'm not sure about that. Carla is still a bit overwhelmed by the laboring process. I think-" he began, but Carla called out.
"I'll be fine, Doctor. I think I know who these visitors are." she explained. While reluctant, Doctor Fritz nodded and instructed the woman to let them in.
Inside stepped three people: an elderly man with receding gray hair and a cane, an elderly woman with unkempt black hair and wrinkles on her face, and a young nine-year-old boy with platinum blonde hair. Carla looked at them and smiled.
"Miss Yeager!" the child said as he went to her, concerned in his voice.
"Zeke. My little warrior." Carla said as she raised her hand and caressed his cheek.
"Are you alright, Miss Yeager? asked Zeke. Carla nodded.
"Tired, but I am fine. I'm especially happy that now you have a younger half-sibling." she said with a tired yet warm smile. Zeke gave a smile as he heard the news.
"Carla, dear?" asked the older woman. Carla looked up and smiled as well as the older woman took her hand and gently cupped it between her own hands.
"Where is the child? Is it alright?" she asked. Carla nodded.
"It's fine. They're just checking on it to see if its healthy. They say he might be, but they want to make sure." she explained. The older man nodded in understanding.
"I hope so. ...I also hope that this child won't be like…" he said. Everyone frowned as they knew who they were talking about. Zeke, however, approached him and placed a hand on his hand.
"Grandpa. I know the baby won't be like dad. You don't have to worry about that. Miss Yeager and I will do our best to ensure that won't happen." Zeke assured. The grandfather shivered for a moment before he nodded in understanding.
Then, there was the sound of the door opening, and everyone turned to see the nurses walking inside with the baby. They looked up and were shocked to see several more people.
"Um...are these family?" asked the female nurse. Doctor Fritz nodded.
"Of course. This is Zeke, Carla's stepson." he said, gesturing to him. The nurses blinked as they recognized Zeke as a Warrior.
"Oh. You're a Warrior, aren't you?" asked the male nurse. Zeke nodded with a faint smile.
"Y-Yes. And is that...my sibling?" he nodded and then asked, pointing to the baby on the female nurse's hand. They nodded.
"Oh, yes! Excuse us." the male nurse nodded as he stepped forward, the family stepping aside so that the nurses could get the baby to her.
"Carla Yeager. You're a lucky lady. You have a healthy little boy." the female nurse said as she gently handed the baby over to her. Zeke made a fist pump gesture in the background, happy that the sibling will be a brother! Carla noticed and smiled before looking at her baby. The baby was crying, but it soon relaxed as he felt Carla's presence. Carla immediately caressed his cheek, and the baby hummed. Carla then looked over at Zeke and raised a hand.
"Zeke. Come over here and meet your new brother." she insisted. Zeke obliged and walked over to them, seeing the baby. Zeke gently raised his hand and hovered it over to him. The baby looked up and raised both of his hands, grabbing Zeke's finger. Carla and Zeke looked at one another and smiled.
"This is...amazing! Do you have a name for it, Miss Yeager?" he asked. Carla nodded.
"Yes. For a while, I have this name in my mind, and I think it fits: Eren Yeager." she said, looking at the baby, who was still looking at Zeke. Zeke smiled at the name. Then, he looked at Eren, who was playing with his hand.
"Hey there, little brother. I'm your older brother, Zeke Yeager. I'm a Warrior training become an Honorary Marleyan!" he told him. Carla and the grandparents smiled at the young boy. The baby, Eren Yeager, looked at Zeke and made a humming noise. Zeke then frowned.
"I won't lie: things are harsh in this world. You'll be facing a lot of prejudice, a lot of hatred. All because of who we are...Eldians." he began, and the other adults frowned, knowing the truth of their people especially. However, Zeke's smile grew.
"But don't worry: one day, we will be free. The world will not have to worry about us, and you won't have to worry about hate anymore. That is a promise of mine." Zeke said as he gently caressed Eren's cheek. Eren simply hummed as he stared at him, not understanding anything one bit, and he just coughed. Zeke just dropped his gaze and gave a chuckle; whatever tension there was immediately fading away. Carla smiled as she then pulled Zeke closer to her, hugging both him and Eren.
For the Yeager family, this is the birth of a new, special boy. But unknowingly, this is the birth of the boy who will seek freedom…
AN: Hey everyone!
Another AOT story. I love this idea of Eren Yeager being born in Marley. A bit of potential for this idea. A few other people did this idea already, and they did well! So, I decided to do my own interpretation of the idea!
So...that's all I have to say. Hope you enjoy it, and some criticism is appreciated!
