Chapter 2
The Start of the Game
Once the game began, Unikitty and her friends found themselves outside. It wasn't raining, but it was just as cloudy as it was before. They took a look around to see the mansion from the cover of the box right in front of them. It looked a lot more intimidating than it did on the box.
"This must be the mansion that the Score Creeper wants us to go to." Dr. Fox observed.
Puppycorn trembled at the sight of the mansion. "I don't like the looks of this place! It's too scary!"
"Don't worry, champ! We can get through this!" Hawkodile encouraged. "Just remember why we are here!"
"For a lifetime supply of candy!" Puppycorn immediately forgot his fears as he started to drool.
"I still think we should be careful. I don't like the looks of this place." Richard explained.
"Don't worry, Richard! All we have to do is make it through the mansion. I'm sure we can handle anything the Score Creeper throws at us!" Unikitty encouraged her friends. "Now, let's go!"
At that moment, Unikitty and her friends walked up the steps leading to the mansion's front door. Each step gave off an eerily creepy creak, making the group of friends feel more nervous than ever. Unikitty grabbed the doors handle and pulled on it, only to realize that the door was locked. Before they could think about what to do next, the group of friends heard the Score Creeper's voice.
"Oh, I'm so sorry! The front door is locked. Looks like you would have to make your way around to the back door."
Having no other choice, Unikitty and her friends walked around the mansion. It was at that moment when they realized that they had to cross a cemetery in order to reach the back door.
Despite how intimidated she was, Unikitty still tried to stay positive. "Uh, don't worry, guys! It's just a nice walk across this cemetery."
"That doesn't exactly sound comforting, Princess." said Richard. "Let's just get this over with!"
As Unikitty and her friends walked across the cemetery, they noticed that it somehow got darker than ever.
"Is it just me, or is it getting dark?" Dr. Fox asked. "I can barely see passed my glasses."
"Alright, everyone! Grab each others' hand so we won't get lost." Hawkodile ordered, as everyone held hands.
As they walked, everything became silent as they heard nothing but their own footsteps rustling through the grass. After a few moments of traversing the cemetery, Unikitty couldn't help but take notice of the zombie hand that she was holding.
"Wow, Puppycorn! Your zombie costume looks great! I never realized how realistic it looked!"
"Thanks, sis! I made the costume myself."
Unikitty's eyes soon widened in horror when she realized that Puppycorn spoke to her from the opposite direction she was facing. Reluctantly, Unikitty looked behind her to see that Puppycorn was nowhere near her.
"Wait a minute! If you're over there, then who's that?"
With that, lightning flashed, revealing that Unikitty has been standing next to an actual zombie this whole time. Everyone screamed and backed away from the zombie in fear. They didn't get far before more zombies climbed out of the ground. Hawkodile stood in front of his friends in an effort to protect them from the zombies.
"Get behind me, everyone!" Hawkodile said before he began to punch the zombies, causing them to fall to pieces.
The action hero gave a triumphant smile, which soon faded when the zombies simply pulled themselves back together.
"I don't think we would be able to fight them after all. Let's just head for the door!" Dr. Fox pointed to the back door.
Seeing that they had no other choice, everyone just decided to ignore the zombies and hurry to the mansion. With the zombies giving chase, Unikitty and her friends ran as fast as they could until they finally reached the mansion, where they ran inside and slammed the door shut. It was at that point when everyone panted heavily, exhausted from nearly getting caught by the zombies. They all took a lot around to see that the inside of the mansion was just as dark as it was on the outside.
"It's dark in the mansion too? There was to be some way to turn on the lights!" said Richard.
"Hey there is a light switch over there." Puppycorn pointed towards a light switch on the wall. "I'll get it!"
Just as Puppycorn was about to flick on the lights, a ghost appeared out of thin air, causing Puppycorn to scream. Soon, a bunch of ghosts appeared as well, as they all flew around the room
"Oh, great! First we dealt with zombies, but now we have to handle ghosts?" Hawkodile complained. "My fists are just going to end up flying right through them!"
As the ghosts were flying around the group of friends, Dr. Fox suddenly came up with an idea. "I got it!" Dr. Fox soon took out one of her inventions. "With this device, I should be able to light up the entire room, and the ghosts should disappear.
"Wait, you just happened to bring that thing with you?" Richard couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"Of course! Now, cover your eyes, everyone!"
The moment Dr. Fox pushed the button on her invention, the entire room was illuminated with a bright light, and the ghosts vanished in an instant.
"Great thinking Dr. Fox! It looks like that's the last of- Aaah! Another ghost!" Unikitty pointed at Richard, mistaking him for a ghost.
"Princess, it's just me. I'm only wearing a ghost costume, remember?"
"Oops! Sorry, Richard! It's just so hard to tell you apart from the rest of the ghosts." Unikitty let out an awkward laugh.
With a roll of his eyes, Richard replied, "Never mind that. Let's just continue through this mansion. Hopefully, we are getting close to the end."
Unikitty and her friends took only a few steps forward when the Score Creeper suddenly appeared in front of them. The Score Creeper gave a sinister grin while Hawkodile got into a fighting stance.
"Very impressive! I didn't think you would make it this far! However, this is as far as you are ever going to get!" said the Score Creeper.
"Yeah right! Your only just saying that so we would give up! What else could you possibly do to stop us? You might as well just give us the candy already." Hawkodile taunted.
"Oh no! You are absolutely right! Whatever shall I do?" the Score Creeper spoke in a mocking tone, pretending to be worried. "Perhaps I should open the trapdoor you are all standing on!"
"Wait what?"
Much to everyone's shock the floor opened up underneath them, as they realized that they just walked into a trap. The Score Creeper soon laughed as Unikitty and her friends fell into the darkness below.
