Chapter 1
Hidden Emotions
One night, Webby and Lena were having a sleepover together at Scrooge McDuck's mansion. They were both having a pillow fight, or as Webby would call it, 'A pillow fight to the death.' Surprisingly, it was pretty tame compared to the other sleepovers they had. There were no literal money sharks, no monsters to fight, and no magic of any kind. Their pillow fight was so intense, the two ducks eventually started to feel tired.
"Alright! Round 1 goes to you, Pink!" Lena panted.
"Woo! That was the most intense pillow fight ever!" Webby raised her arms in victory.
Lena gave a chuckle. "Whatever! If Violet were here to help me, you probably wouldn't have won so easily!"
"I doubt it! By the way, how is living with Violet and her family going so far?" Webby asked her friend.
Lena merely shrugged. "Eh, can't complain! Living with Violet and her dads has been alright."
Webby began to smile as she was happy for her friend. "I'm so glad that you are finally a part of a family of your own!"
"Yeah! Me too! The Sabrewings are more of a family to me than Aunt Magica ever was." Lena's voice went silent as she mentioned Magica's name.
Hearing that name caused Webby to look at her friend in concern. Webby couldn't imagine what Lena went through when she was forced to follow orders from Magica in exchange for her freedom. If that wasn't bad enough, Lena was also trapped in the shadow realm for a really long time.
"Are you still having nightmares about Magica?" asked Webby.
"Nah." Lena shook her head. "Aunt Magica lost her powers, and she can't even enter my dreams anymore."
Despite sounding calm, Webby knew that Lena was still traumatized, so she grabbed Lena's hand. As Lena felt Webby's hand, her face was slightly red from embarrassment and she shyly looked away.
"Lena, if you are still concerned about Magica, just remember that I'm always here for you!"
A small smile soon formed across Lena's face before she said, "You always were willing to be my friend even after you found out I was working for Aunt Magica. I don't really say this often, but you're a great friend."
"You too, Lena!"
Before they knew it, Webby and Lena quickly realized that they were really close to each other, so they immediately turned away from each other, both of them feeling embarrassed. Lena desperately wanted to get out of this awkward moment, so she began to stretch and let out a fake yawn.
"Well, this had been one eventful night! I think we should go to sleep now!" Lena then laid down in her bed.
It was at that moment when Webby looked away, feeling disappointed. "Right. Goodnight, Lena."
As Webby made her way to her bed and turned off the lights, the two friends were deep in thought. Webby and Lena both have romantic feelings for each other, but are too scared to tell each other. They wouldn't dare to express their true feelings and risk ruining their friendship. As much as they valued their friendship, it broke their hearts as they knew that they would be nothing more than just friends.
AN: So, this first chapter was a little shorter than I was expecting it to be. I'm hoping to make the rest of the chapters of the story longer. Anyway, I hope everyone is enjoying the story so far, and I'll publish the next chapter as soon as I can.
