"Fluff, Clockwise!"
The journey to the past is an easy one in terms of magic. However, it grows into a complicated one when the journey is not physical but mental. Especially when you're intentionally traveling, unlike what I did which was simply arriving and having no clue how.
After the formal introductions, Fluff (the kwami to who I owe my second chance) and I got along great. Basically, they kept repeating what a dumbass I was, and I couldn't agree more. After many questions, we still can't pinpoint why I just traveled in time by myself the first time. Some of our theories are that perhaps the cat miraculous brought me back, but I did not wish for a miracle and I wasn't holding both Bridgette's and my miraculous.
I can't understand why. I don't know what I did. But as I've said, I honestly don't care, as long as I can make things right.
We are currently waiting on the bench, it's the perfect spot for our situation: it has a good view of the school but there isn't a lot of people around. And we are waiting for...well: me. To make things right. Because it's about time.
I can't help but wonder if this is the right thing to do. If we're being strict about it, is not like I've had much of a choice. I was just thrown into this bizarre situation with no way out, and I'm making amends. For her.
"Are you sure this will work?" I ask the kwami, my leg bouncing nervously and my palms are growing sweatier by the second.
"If it doesn't then you might have to start looking into other options." Fluff, the rabbit kwami, sits patiently on my detransformed persona.
"Like what?"
"Unaliving yourself?"
"Fluff!" I hiss at the little being.
"I was just kidding. Besides, all will be over soon. Your past self will come out of school any minute now and-"
He's there. Tall, slim, dark-clothed teenage me. The more I look at myself the more confused I grow. God, what did Bridgette ever see in me? I was such a loser.
"FELIX AGRESTE!" I yell, standing up. I start walking towards that oblivious young me. Jesus, I really need a haircut.
I'm thankful for my lonely situation, as there is no one with me or in the vicinity.
"Wow kid, someone is looking for you." Plagg's voice almost makes me smile.
"Yeah, and it's not Bridgette's usual annoying tone."
"YOU IDIOT" I'm finally in front of him and I don't hesitate in grabbing him by the shirt, lifting him up from the ground slightly.
"Woah, relax dude. Hey, you kinda look like- Plagg! Why does he look like me?!"
I punch myself in the face. He falls to the ground.
"Good God! What was that for?!"
"Ask Bridgette out. She's the best thing that has ever and will ever happen to you."
"I don't understand." He touches his cheek in pain. "Who are you?"
"Stop causing her pain. She's smart, funny, sexy, and beautiful, and never, NEVER forget that."
"Why do you care?"
"Because she is happiness itself, dumbass! You cannot let her go. You'll make mistakes in the future but always remember, ALWAYS. Your life is nothing without her. Make her the happiest. And remind her every day of how much you love her."
"But I don't love her. I can't-"
"Yes, you can. Look..." I kneel down to be on his eye level. "I will be honest with you, can I?" I turn to get Fluff's approval, who just nods. "Look, Felix. I come from the future."
"Yeah, no shit."
"And I don't know how anything has happened, okay? But you're the luckiest man in the whole world and you fucked up."
He looks at me with interest.
"She's...she's my soulmate isn't she?"
"She is. She is a gift from heaven above."
"B-But what about Ladybug?"
"Trust me, Felix. Just ask Bridgette out. Choose her."
"I don't want to bring unluckiness into her life. She's so clumsy, and with my bad luck she'll die or something I-"
"Go to her. Ask her out. Don't wait for her to ask you again. You ask her." I sigh. Suddenly calm. "And enjoy your life together."
"How badly did I fuck up in the future?"
"Well...I traveled in time to fix your mistake so, a lot."
"Understandable."
"Just do as I said, okay? And everything will be alright."
"Wait!" Plagg leaves his shirt and floats in front of me. "is my future version of me with you?"
"No, just Fluff. Why? Want me to send a message?"
"Just...give me camembert."
"You got it, buddy." I stand up. "We better go. This was a very express visit but I just needed to make things right."
"Thank you."
"I'm doing it for her. She deserves better than us. But she's stuck with your dumb ass so..."
"Yeah, I get it." He touches his cheek again with pain. "Man I need to work out more, that's a strong hand you got there." I shrug, amused.
"Fluff, let's go home." The kwami nods, floating in front of me. I take the pocket watch out and hesitate for a second. "One last thing."
"Yes?" Me responds.
"Stay away from a woman named Lilian, alright?"
"O-okay."
"Come on, Felix. You know the drill." I look around, no witnesses.
"Fluff, Counterclockwise!"
.
"Felix?" Fluff asks. I'm standing in front of the door. The door to our home. And I really hope all this journey was worth it. "Are you okay?"
My heart is overwhelmed. Memories that I did not have before replacing old ones and they're all her. Of her smiling, of loving her, of living happily. No lies. No guilt.
Past me did well.
I have nothing to worry about.
"I'm okay, Fluff. Thank you, for all your help."
"I hope to never see you again."
"Likewise."
I place the miraculous carefully back in the box. And with a tentative hand, I knock on the door.
"Who is it?" My heart stops, overwhelmed by the cheery tone of my lovely wife.
"Cookie, I'm home." My voice wavers slightly, and I try to smile as naturally as possible.
She opens the door. And the sight melts my heart.
"Welcome back, Felix."
