Chapter 9: Being a Hero.
Three Weeks Later,
Things have happened since the following weeks ago. This new dark hero doesn't seem to be the only Hero. Now there's six more..or five. A battle happened over Krei's presentation. As it turns out. Callaghan. The teacher and mentor to Tadashi Hamada..
He was also the reason why Tadashi died that day..
Hearing this, Lee..Lee couldn't even think, let alone know how he feels after Hiro told him everything.
Hiro looked at Lee with a concerned look. "..Lee..you good..?" He asked him.
At that moment, Lee sighed and finally spoke. "So...He was the reason why he died...in a way..Tadashi died for nothing…" he muttered, only it wasn't out of anger..but sadness.
Hiro wanted to say more..something. but he couldn't. Talking about it was already too much. So he decided to drop it.
Hiro then try to lighten the mood by asking him. "So, what have you been up too?"
Lee was immediately frozen and tried to think of a lie. "Uh..was out with Jade."
Hiro smiles. "Oh yeah, since I'm going into college, i'll be seeing her often. She's pretty cool
Lee smiled. "Yeah she is, one of the best actually."
He then asked him. "So, you're getting Tadashi's room?"
That caused the smile on Hiro's smile to deflate. "No, it's off limits. Upperclassmen get that privilege.
Lee looked on sadly before saying in an encouraging smile. "Hey, you'll get it. With your smarts, you'll be upperclassmen in no time." he said before giving him a light punch in the arm, causing the boy to laugh light-heartingly
Hiro smiles. "Yeah, thanks." He said with a grateful look.
Lee smiled back before checking the time. "Oh crap, i need to meet up Jade, got some plans to discuss for Halloween tonight."~ He told Hiro with an excited smile written on his face.
Hiro chuckled and asked. "What, trick or treating time?"
Lee scoffed and waved his hand. "N-No! I don't do that anymore."
Hiro raised an eyebrow, and gave an incredulous look. "You went trick or treating last year."
Lee retorted. "I was 17, now I'm 18, besides i'll just buy candy, or get some leftovers at the party. But for now, I gotta meet up with Jade." He said before getting out of his bed, and walked out of the room.
Hiro smiled and said, "Aunt Cass said, come back with the party stuff tongiht!" He reminded him.
Lee nodded. "Yeah, Yeah i got it." He said with a chuckle.
With Jade,
She was going over some of the important things to Ken about the human races. What was that?
Ken while kicking their feet asked. "So, Halloween is a holiday where people dress up as demons, and monsters?"
Jade while craving a pumpkin for the porch. "Mhm.~"
Ken asked. "Is that why you were watching those gorey movies?"
Jade turned around. "Horror films, and not all of them are. Lack of gore has the classic 1978's Halloween. One of my favorites~" she exclaimed with an excited look.
To which, Lee came in leaning by the door. "Take it from her, aside from me. She's a horror nut ken." He joked before walking in the room.
Jade rolled her eyes scoffing. "Oh no i'm not." She said denying before turning on the tv. Lee raised an eyebrow and a smirk. He then decided to challenge her.
Lee asked. "Okay, what was the new horror icon that came out in 1988?"
Jade turn around and quickly said. "Easy, Chucky from Child's Play."
Lee grinned. "Alright, what came out in 1974?"
Jade answered with a "duh" Tone in her voice. "Texas Chainsaw Massacre."
Lee grinned and pointed at her. "Ding Ding Ding, correct!" He answered in a talk show-host voice, much to Jade's amusement.
Ken soon begin to speak and said. "Um, shouldn't we get out there, and fight crime?"
Lee and Jade looked over to them, and both exchanged a glance.
Jade sighed and said. "Truth be told, there hasn't been any crime in the last couple of days."
Lee added. "Or weeks." That has been a known fact. Aside from stopping a robber that one time. Being a hero is easier said than done.
Ken blinked and said. "But what about that Callagian person on the news?"
Jade shook her head. "Already taken care of. He's in jail, after those 6 supers stopped him." she said with a bitter tone in her voice, which was heard when the name Callagian was mentioned.
Ken looked down and sighed. "Wow..so what now, not be a hero..?"
Lee however chuckled and said. "No? We can always be heroes the right way? Giving back to the community."
Jade gave a smile and nodded. "Yeah, there's some homeless downtown, maybe we can escort them to the F.E.A.S.T Center just a few blocks away."
Lee smiled and added. "And maybe help out some people with other issues."
Ken blinked. "But, isn't being a hero about fighting bad guys?" They asked.
Jade just laughed and said. "No, well not the main reason. Being a hero is about helping however we can, and this is the way to go. Now come on! We got some Halloween treats to give out for the days leading up to halloween!" She cried out before running off.
Lee grinned and ran after her. "Come on, Ken!" He called out to them.
Ken merely just stood there. They were wondering if this is what it means to be a hero..well only one way to find out. Observed. "Uhh, coming." Ken said with a little smile before jumping off the computer table and running off after the two.
Downtown is lively like any other. Lee, within his super suit, has made a name for himself.
Well less as a superhero, but more as a street level hero.
He regularly interacts with the kids, by giving out free candy, and pointing to families to the center, for a nice warm bed, and where a party will be held.
Needless to say, it was a fun day.
As Lee, Jade and Ken were about to go home for the party, some kids ran up to them, and asked Lee. "Are you a superhero?"
Lee chuckles at the little girl's name and kneels down. "Well, I guess you can say that."
One boy asked. "What's your name?"
That..was a toughie, and this put Lee on the spot. "U-Uh well um…" He tried to think into one, until a kid walked behind him and noticed a crow's feet on the back of the coat.
The boy asked "Crow?"
Lee stood there and turn to the kid. "Huh?"
The girl asked. "Is your name Crow?"
Lee was about to object, but..it was a simple, and cool name. Plus it fits the look he was going for. "Crow...huh.."
Jade who heard all of that, gave a smile. "Crow..i like that." she teased.
Lee blushed before saying. "You kids best get going, got some trick or treating over by the center!"
The kids gasp and ran off to the center, with Lee having a smile on his face.
Jade smirked to him and said. "Crow..i like it."
Lee rolled his eyes. "Too corny." he said as they walked off. "How about Titan?"
Jade raised an eyebrow." You mean like that super villain that terrorized a city of a girl? Yeah right."
Lee winced and dialed it back. "Okay yeah..maybe Crow can be a placeholder till i find my true hero name~" he said to her.
Jade chuckled. "Okay fine whatever." she lightly pushed him in a playfully manner, as she began to laugh and ran off.
May have rushed it, due to getting it out on time for halloween, next chapter will be longer and the start of the action and plot moving forward. Happy Late Halloween!
