-A Realm Ignited-
[Quest 1: Stranger in Paradise]
4/10 Year 708 Grand Duchy of Vialto, Erthesia Afternoon - Cloudy
*Final Fantasy Tactics OST - Bloody Excrement (Jacob Sturm REMASTERED Ver.)
The sounds of war… blades clashing and fires smouldering in ashes. The flag of Vialto was torn and burnt as it was blown by the winds and smoke. The sky was covered by clouds and ash. The soldiers of the Grand Duchy were fighting against the knights of Woldredna as the battle took place. Blood was spilt on the ground, corpses of lifeless soldiers laid on the floor and the airships powered by magic were hovering in the skies above. The Vialto soldiers with swords, shields, and spears were being massacred by Woldredna's might one by one as they all fell. But inside the castle's throne room there was a huge mess everywhere with blood on the floor and fallen soldiers who failed to protect their Archduke during the unexpected invasion caused by their neighboring Kingdom of Woldredna. The Woldrednian Knights were seen stepping aside where a man who arrives to approach the Archduke who is wounded as he rested on the stairs. The man was in his shining armor with blonde hair along with his twin horned helmet as his visor was listen open, revealing his blue eyes. But, his shining armor was rather ornate as he had a regal white cape with the symbol of Woldredna Kingdom, symbolizing two silver lions intersecting between each other with a royal shield in the middle. The Woldrednian Knights bowed to his presence as the man kneeled to look at the face of the wounded Archduke.
"Y-You wretched fool… Why must you do this… To incite this pointless war…? Is this what you've wanted? The Mad King… Quinten vas Zelago…?" The Archduke coughed in pain as the man named Quinten chuckled lightly as he shook his head.
"Now, now. This wasn't an entire mistake. But I've done what I have done. For years, I have waited for this moment… to get my beloved Kingdom back into its shape in order to prepare for what is to come. You understand that, do you?" Quinten said to him.
"E-Enough… of this…" The Archduke continued. "What is it that you want…?"
"Conquest." Quinten said as he stood up as he turned around and spoke. "As you can see… Erthesia is enjoying it's time of peace… But I've come to break that. Now that you have seen our might of what my Kingdom can do. Soldiers, Airships, everything! You see, Archduke!? This is the world where everyone must fight and survive! If they do not… They will die."
"To seven hells with you… The Grand Kingdom of Frankia will know… Kill me if you must… But you will never seize victory upon your bloodied hands!" The Archduke retorted as Quinten turned around and sighed with a disappointed look on his face.
"Hmph. I've expected more coming from you… but I tire of talking." Quinten then unsheathes his sword as he raises it up in the air. The Archduke gasped as Quinten swung his sword down to his chest as he felt the pain of a flesh wound. He places his left hand to his right arm of Quinten as the mad king lets go of his hand as the Archduke finally dies from the strike of the sword. "You will parish and remain in the afterlife. Let your Mother Hydvardine take you."
Two soldiers bowed with their right hand to their chest as one of the swordsmen spoke.
Woldredna Swordsman: "Milord, the fortress of the Grand Duchy is ours."
"Yes. Yes… As it should be… Our new fortress will be occupied as I speak. What of the stragglers?" Quinten asked them.
Woldredna Spearman: "The Archduke's daughter and the other civilians have escaped from us, Milord. Please, we apologize that we weren't able to capture and slaughter them."
"There is no need. Let his royal daughter and the peasants turn tail and run to Frankia. But alas, we still have plans to work things out. Am I not wrong?"
Woldredna Swordsman: "Aye, Milord! But invading the Grand Kingdom would be unwise. You should have seen their unformidable military. 'Tis those damned Paladins who drove us back!"
"I am aware of that. Do not fret." Quinten continued as he sheathed his bloody sword. Then, the robed person with a wizard hat wielding a staff with a crystal on the top of it arrives and informs him.
Woldredna Black Mage: "Milord, It is ready."
"Were you able to round up the remaining peasants?" Quinten asked the mage as he nodded without speaking. "Good. Then let us get going and give them a nice little speech before their lasting moments…"
Quinten and his soldiers prepared to leave the throne room as they prepared to head outside, leaving the dead, bloodied body of the Archduke… Lifeless… Soon, the land of Erthesia will be plunged into a new war. The Grand Duchy of Vialto has fallen under the hands of Woldredna.

4/22 Year 708 Elsara Deepwood, Erthesia Daytime - Clear Sky
"Hear… Feel…"
*Final Fantasy Tactics OST - Under the Stars (Jacob Shrum REMASTERED Ver.)
The sounds of a breeze blowing the leaves while a certain someone as he was on the ground for hours. The birds were chirping loudly as the man groaned in annoyance as he opened his eyes slowly. He gained vision as he was looking at the clear blue skies with clouds with trees covering it. The young man started to yawn as he got up as it appeared that he was on the floor of the forest. He was unsure of why he woke up here. Yet, he is a complete stranger.
"Where… Where the hell am I?" The young man said to himself. He had strange clothes that aren't from this world. As he had an unzipped ashen grey hoodie jacket with a black undershirt and black pants. Along with his shoes. Yet, he isn't from anywhere. He had brown hair and brown eyes as his hairstyle was rather normal where it's a little long enough. He looked around to see. He placed his left hand to his head as he was a little stressed. "Damn it… Why can't I remember…"
The young man failed to remember from his memories of how or why he came here. Yet, he shook his head and calmed down to understand his surroundings. He is indeed in the forest but he felt lost. But that doesn't stop him. He begins to think for a while as he tries to think of a plan.
"Hmm… Perhaps I should wander out of this forest so I can find answers here. So that way I can figure out where I am." The young man sighed. "I just hope I can get back home…"
So, he made up his mind. To wander out of this forest blindly. Yet, the forest itself is vast and most of the sunlight is blocked off by the shades of leaves on the trees. He soon begins walking to explore the forest, unknowing of any dangers around. He awed to look around to feel the forest's tranquility as if it felt silent and soothing. The young man begins to ponder while walking as there were no directions at all. Yet, all he can do is to go straight.
"The forests remain quiet as ever. But the place seems vast for some reason. Will I ever get out of here?" The young man said to himself as he continued to traverse through the forest. But that peace and tranquility does not last. He could hear the rapid steps that were approaching him as he stopped walking and looked around. "W-Who's there!?"
*Final Fantasy Tactics OST - Tension 1 (Jacob Shrum REMASTERED Ver.)
The sound of a growling grew ever closer as he turned around from behind to see black wolves coming out of the tree. However, they seemed to be rather big for some reason but they somehow came in packs of about three wolves. However, they were aggressive and hungry for flesh and bone. The young man's eyes widened in fear as he knew exploring the forest blindly was a terrible idea.
"Oh shit…!" The young man then ran as fast as he could to traverse through the forest as the wolves gave chase.
He began running for his life, knowing that he was at risk. So he kept running and running through the woods while the wolves continued to hunt him down. The young man saw a low steep terrain as he jumped off and safe rolls on the ground as he continued to run. He still had much stamina left as he seemed to be a good runner. The young man thought in his mind on how to outsmart the wolves as he has zero options on how to do so. But that is until he stepped on something as he completely tripped and fell. He managed to roll on the grass floor and stop by the nearby tree when he got up but his left leg was injured. The wolves stopped as they finally cornered him. The young man was in a panic as he looked for something to defend himself. He looked at the ground when he found a rock that was in the shape of a ball he could carry with one hand when he picked it up.
"Damn you… Take this!" The young man threw the rock at the most acceptable speed as it hit one of the wolves head as the rough rock somehow managed to hit the middle wolf's head. However, it proved no use as it growled more. Then the wolves together prepared to lunge towards the young man when he closes his eyes, ready to face his death. That is until the sound of solid shards formulating out of nowhere, trapping all three wolves which had been encased in ice as he slowly opened his eyes. He saw the wolves trapped inside of huge ice as he tripped and crawled backwards while looking at it as he tried to catch some breath. As he was about to calm down. He felt a strange sensation with one of his ears ringing inside his head as he grasped his head from his right hand and tried to quell it. But, he begins to hear the voice from before…
"Hear… Feel… Think…"
"Can you shut… up…!" The young man tried to quell the annoyance in his head as it began to die down slowly. And just like that… it stopped. He began to calm down completely as he stood up but struggled to do so since his left leg remained hurt. "O-Ow… Damn it…"
"You there, young man. Are you alright?" The voice of a woman spoke as he looked to his right. Yet, he has never seen a woman wearing some sort of a getup before.
*Final Fantasy Tactics OST - Ovelia's Theme (Jacob Shrum REMASTERED Ver.)
An adult woman with back-length red hair tied with what appears to be bandages just before the end, forming a small ponytail over her right shoulder, though her hair is rather longer. She donned a dark violet hooded dress reaching up her knees with wide sleeves, and a single brown strap on the chest area. She also donned a dark violet witch hat with a dark blue band decorated with a red feather and a golden-crescent shaped object; dark blue knee-high boots with a deep dip and red tips; and black-framed oval glasses. The young man could see her red eyes as she remained calm and composed. The young man didn't say anything as the witch appeared to approach him. Though, she noticed that his left leg was injured as she began to speak while wielding a staff made from wood.
"Hmm… I see. Your leg must be injured. Hold still for a moment." The witch then focuses and gathers magic energy from her hand as she proceeds to perform some sort of a healing magic that starts to cure his leg from the injury he received when he was running away from a pack of hungry wolves. The young man felt little to no pain as the left leg began to completely heal from her magic. "There… That should do it. You should be careful when you wander around these forests. Even if you do… These dire wolves will be hunting you down. Now then… are you okay? How are your legs now?"
"I… I feel fine… Thanks." The young man said to him.
"It isn't safe here. I know you wish to talk more but please, follow me. I'll lead you to my home so we can talk. 'Tis okay with you?" The witch said to him.
"Sure… I guess. I mean, all I want is to get out of this forest." The young man said to her as she seemed to understand about it.
"It's easy for people like you to get lost here in Elsara Deepwood. People have been missing for days now. However, once we talked at my home. Then I'll let you leave this forest. Now then, follow me. There is no time to waste talking." The witch then proceeds to turn around and prepares to head on home as the young man follows her in confusion. He did not say a word if he really wanted to leave this Elsara Deepwood. He'll need to follow and do whatever she says in hopes to figure out what's going on. For now, he'll need to find answers from her one way or another.
The Home in the Forest, Elsara Deepwood Daytime - Clear Sky
*Final Fantasy Tactics OST - Data Screen (Jacob Shrum REMASTERED Ver.)
And so, the witch has led the young man into her home which seemed quiet as usual. He thought of something that reminded him of a folklore tale but he can't seem to remember ever since he woke up in the woods. Inside the humble small home where the witch was seen pouring a cup of warm tea for him as she finishes. The young man then takes the cup to sip the flavor as it seemed bland for some reason but it'll do for him. The witch then tsat on the chair to look at him as she clears her throat and speaks.
"Now then, with that out of the way…" The witch continued as the young man finished drinking tea. "I want to know why you were in my forests in the first place. Can you tell me why?"
"Well… I… I woke up here all of a sudden. I just can't remember anything at all. I just don't know why I'm here. I'm sorry if it disappoints you." The young man said to her as she thought as she came to realize as she looked at him once again as he looked at his clothes. He is definitely not from here.
"Judging by your clothes. They look… strange. And for some reason… you can't seem to remember but waking up in the Deepwoods. Do you… have amnesia?" The witch asked him.
"Maybe…? But there's more. I started hearing things in my head. The voice of a woman." The young man said to her as she felt a bit skeptical. "All she said was… Hear. Feel. Think… That's pretty much what I've known so far but… I just don't know why."
"I… see. Well then, I do not blame you for coming to my woods but… I haven't asked your name. Can you remember?" The witch continued as she introduced herself with a kind smile to ease him. "My name is Chariot du Lac. I am a Witch residing here in Elsara Deepwood. And you are?"
"Luke Nowotny… That's my name…" The young man known as Luke introduced himself.
"Luke… 'Tis a strange name you have but it is a pleasure to meet you." Chariot continued. "As of now, the wildlife here has gotten… slightly uneasy as of late ever since the fall of the Grand Duchy of Vialto. Of course, they were no more and fell under the hands of the Woldredna Kingdom. Oh, right. You don't know anything about it. As much as I could explain to you. I have no concrete detail of what has happened around Erthesia. The land you're in right now."
"Erthesia…" Luke said silently as he thought of it. Is this the world he is currently living in? However, Chariot then takes a deep breath as she stands up from her chair as she decides to grab her staff as she straps it to her back. "Chariot, right? I… I wanted to say thanks for saving me. If you weren't there… I'd die right away.
"Think nothing of it." Chariot said to him. "However, I've already made my decision for you on where to go. Only this time, you need my protection."
"Really? Does that mean you can help me leave this… Deepwood?" Luke said as she handed him a sheathed sword with a belt strap on it. "Hmm? Is this a sword?"
"Yes… Though, it once belonged to someone I loved. A daring adventurer." Chariot replied as he takes the sword and equips it to have the sword strapped on the left hip. "Think of the sword I gave you as some protection. It's the only thing I'd do to help you to survive. Once I was led out of this forest. Don't think it's over yet. I want to take you to a Kingdom that I once lived in. Don't worry, It's not Woldredna."
Luke nodded as he didn't say anything as he stood up from the chair and proceeded to follow her out of the house so he could finally leave the forest thanks to Chariot's help. Though, he feels quite safe having a sword on his hip so he can have some protection. But the question is, can he really use a sword that well?
As ten minutes had passed where the two had finally gotten out of the forest thanks to Chariot's direction. Luke begins to look at the view of the landscape of the grassy plains. But from afar, it appears to be some sort of a kingdom that is large. The castle itself is on the mountain overlooking the city itself as there was the port that leads out of the sea. But again, they're only way far from going there as Chariot has that intent. But felt unsure if she'll get a reaction from various people there. Though, Luke remained stunned as she looked at him.
*Final Fantasy Tactics OST - Hero's Theme (Jacob Shrum REMASTERED Ver.)
"Beautiful, isn't it?" Chariot said as Luke looked at her as her hair was lightly blown by the wind's breeze. "We're far from reaching the Grand Kingdom of Frankia. But I assure you it will help you get started on becoming an adventurer."
"Me? An adventurer?" Luke asked as she nodded.
"Frankia is ruled by the Grand Monarchy. They watch over their humble citizens there as long as they stay safe within the kingdom walls. After all, it is a home to the Royal Knights. They're sworn to protect their Grand Monarchy no matter the cost. But ever since the Grand Duchy's fall, they've been put on edge that Woldredna has been taking over small villages left and right that were once a territory of Frankia." Chariot continued as she clears her throat. "Ahem. Now then, let's get going. Time cannot wait forever. I'll talk while we walk our way there."
"Alright? Once we enter this… Kingdom. What's next? Am I supposed to do this on my own? I have no knowledge about that place." Luke said as the two continued walking down the path.
"Do not worry. As I said, I am to accompany you once we enter the kingdom. Many adventurers such as myself go there to meet and fight off the fiends. After all, I'm glad that the people at the Adventurers' Guild have taken great care of me when I first met my members of the party I was at." Chariot said as she began to reminisce about the days when she first joined the Adventurers' Guild in Frankia. Luke listened carefully as she began to explain the side of her story. "That man I used to love… He was a brave leader. A shining knight in armor, he respected all kinds of races who lived in Erthesia. Regardless if it's an Elvar, Feline, Vulpara, Nordan, or a Lalafell. He accepts anyone in his party. Though, we were just a party of four, of course."
"That man… What was his name?" Luke asked her.
"Tristan Elidibus… When I first met him… He was brave. Reckless. But, he shows his kindness towards anyone he meets and was willing to go on an adventure to hunt down fiends all across Erthesia." Chariot said about him as she begins the remember in her memories when she first went on an adventure with Tristan. As for Luke, he seemed intrigued by how much of a good person Tristan is.
"He seemed like a good guy, honestly. But how long have you been doing this for?" Luke said to her as she lowered her head down and frowned a little.
"When we were trying to make a name for ourselves five years back. We came across a mysterious black knight wielding a greatsword with just one hand of pure strength. He… He calls himself the Knight of Ruin known as Garlarath…" Chariot continued as she continued to remember in her memories. "He was a formidable enemy. He never told us who he works for. At first, we thought he was from Woldredna but that is not the case… He slaughtered Tristan in a duel. Yet, he couldn't defeat him. And after what happened, my comrades shifted the blame towards me for not saving him and we all disbanded as a result. When I came back to Frankia for the first time in a while from my journeys… I was shunned by the people and the nobility themselves. They called me a Witch, practitioner of all magics that I've mastered. And with that, I placed myself in exile by residing in the Deepwoods for years as I learned to survive and hopefully move on. That is up until now… I met you, of course."
"I see… As for your lover. Tristan, yes? Then I'm sincerely sorry for your loss." Luke said to her as she shook her head with a slight smile.
"There's no need but thanks. I'm sure Tristan has already joined in the afterlife to Mother Hydvardine. Now then-" Chariot's voice was soon cut off as the two were suddenly approached by a small group of thieves and cutthroats blocking their path. These people were seen wielding daggers and short swords as they wore bandanas on their heads. And they looked tanned as well. One of them spoke up.
*Final Fantasy Tactics OST - Back Fire (Jacob Shrum REMASTERED Ver.)
Cutthroat 1: "Well, well, boys. Look what have we got 'ere. Travelers, I'd say!"
Cutthroat 2: "Ye got some balls settin' yer foot on this path, eh?"
"Hey… Chariot? Are we being robbed?" Luke asked her.
"Most likely." Chariot replied.
Cutthroat 3: "Now then. Seems we have a young lad… And a fine lass. 'Twas a good day to have them stop and listen for once."
Cutthroat 1: "Before ye make any conclusions… Why not we'd make a deal before we let ya… move on."
Then, the first cutthroat pointed his dagger at the two.
Cutthroat 1: "Hand over 500 gil that you'd have in yer bag. No lies, nothin'. But if you don't have the gil. Well… Ya know what happens, yeh?"
"Seems you're really eager to rob someone that is about to head our way to the kingdom. So desperate to gain but not a single gil worth on the hand." Chariot taunted as she decided to bring out her staff. "That said, I'll give you a warning if you intend to pick a fight with us rather then robbing the poors."
Cutthroat 2: "Tsk. Tsk… Wrong choice, lass. Seems we'd be eager to take your lives. Hope you're prepared to die!"
"W-Wait, Chariot? We're fighting!?" Luke asked her in a slight panic as she looked at him.
"Do you know how to use a sword?" Chariot asked him.
"Err… Yeah? Sort of…?" Luke replied as she nodded and looked back at the cutthroats.
"Then that's good enough. Draw out your weapon and let us deal with these troublemakers. Don't worry, if you get hurt. Leave all the healing to me. Just do your best and try to defeat them." Chariot said as Luke unsheathed his sword he got from her as his very own starter weapon. However, he was unsure if he could do it but the only thing he can do is to focus and do his best.
One of the cutthroats prepares to swing his dagger right at him as he prepares to block with a sword as the sounds of metal clashing were made as Luke managed to protect himself from the attack. He shoves him right off and slashes back at him, only damaging his leather chest armor that he was wearing but it manages to wound him in the chest as he feels the pain.
Cutthroat 1: "Gah! Ye bastard!"
"You started this fight! Not me!" Luke retorted as he stood his ground. While Chariot was seen casting her spell from her staff as the two cutthroats were about to attack within melee range until she raised her staff up high as it casted a powerful gust of wind as it pushed them back, only for them to disarm their weapons after the spell. However, both travelers and the cutthroats heard the noise of what's coming. The sound of thumping was getting closer as they all looked from the road path. It appears to be a group of armored soldiers riding on yellow birds that are huge as the cutthroats know it's going to happen.
Cutthroat 1: "Gah! Seven hells… The patrols are here… What impeccable timing…"
Cutthroat 2: "Ye got lucky, lots. We'll be back for ya…"
Cutthroat 3: "And next time we meet, we'll hunt ya down!"
*Final Fantasy Tactics OST - Character Making (Jacob Shrum REMASTERED Ver.)
The three cutthroats began to retreat as two soldiers on the birds chased after them as one soldier only approached the two as they sheathed their respective weapons.
"You two. Are you alright?" The soldier asked the two as they nodded.
"Yes. As you can see, we were unharmed when those cutthroats tried to attack us. But, I thank you for arriving to deal with these hooligans." Chariot thanked the soldier as he nodded.
"It's no problem, ma'am. However, may I ask why you are here traveling?" The soldier asked.
"We are on our way to the Grand Kingdom. Well, for him, of course." Chariot said to the soldier as he looked at him. Though, he has never seen him before.
"You're not from here, I presume? Based on your… attire. You're really a strange one. Anyways, I'll ask you this, traveler." The soldier continued. "You may be on your way to our Grand Kingdom. Is this your first time coming here?"
"No. This is my first." Luke replied as the soldier continued.
"Hmm… I see. I can't blame you for it. Despite it being your first visit there. Most people go where the wind blows to seek new adventure or begin a new life. Now then, what is the first time that attracted you to it? Fame? Glory? Or Fortune." The soldier asked him the question as Luke was conflicted with the three choices. He took time to think but did not waste time however.
"I… I seek to win Glory. I think?" Luke replied again as the soldier laughed a bit.
"Glory, huh? Well, if you're quite willing to take on the tasks that challenge you. An adventurer such as you could do so. Of course, you'll have to report to our Adventurers' Guild. It's located in our royal capital of Planchard. You can't miss it. It'll help get started to sort yourself into adventuring business there." The soldier continued as he completely forgot. "Ahh! Apologies. I must get going and help out my brothers. It's good talk, you two. Best stay safe on your travels to the Grand Kingdom of Frankia."
The soldier commanded the bird as it made a noise and ran off to follow them as Luke remained calm as ever. The two continued walking down the path. Luke continued looking at the sky to see some small airships flying through the sky as they were entering the kingdom from above. He was amazed to see the world was such a wonder. Though, Chariot looked at him as she spoke.
*Final Fantasy Tactics OST - World Map (Jacob Shrum REMASTERED Ver.)
"Ahh, the sky seems to be slightly busy today. The airships that the people are on are just traveling from one place to another, minding their own business. Perhaps you could board one of the airships one day just to travel to another Kingdom. But that's for another time. Let us continue the path towards the kingdom." Chariot said to Luke as he nodded with an agreement.
Now, Luke begins to think that everything is still a complete mystery. Why is Chariot, a witch, helping him? Why did he wake up in Deepwood? And who was that mysterious voice? In his mind, he doesn't want to worry himself. For now, we need to focus on things that are ahead. His first thing to do is to visit the Adventurers' Guild to get started. But many minutes soon passed. Both Luke and Chariot have finally arrived at the gates the lead to the entrance of the Grand Kingdom itself. Luke remained in awe to see a place like this is filled with people. Some are human while some are quite different but almost human. And so, the two begin entering inside the kingdom for the very first time except for Chariot in which she has resided here previously.
"While the realms were stoked in flames after the fall of the Grand Duchy of Vialto by the hands of the Woldredna Kingdom. The time of peace and tranquility has slowly come to pass. Here, the young man named Luke Nowotny. Accompanied by a Witch named Chariot du Lac who led him out of the Elsara Deepwood. Now, the two have finally arrived where Chariot once started her adventuring career. Here on the northern east corners of the windswept iles close to the shimmering ocean of the Baldesian Sea. The Grand Kingdom of Frankia stood tall as ever, brimming with life filled with merchants, adventurers, and citizens looking to seek fortune and live a life through security and comfort under the watchful gaze of the Grand Monarchy themselves. Yet not alone, the young and upcoming adventurer such as Luke's arrival has drawn it's gaze towards the nation's patron deity Aufreya. But what has made him come here? To search for the answers he seeks of why he came to this realm that will affect his future, may the Kingdom's light ever shine brightly to the Grand Monarchy… For the glory of Frankia."
FINAL FANTASY APOCRYPHA XIV
As the two stood there after passing through the entrance gates of the Grand Kingdom. The whole place is an entire city filled with people as the guards were doing their duty to keep watch of civilians. While other people are here to make businesses to sell their goods in order to make some gil. Luke noticed small-looking people that are the size of the children passing by with normal sized people but with animal ears and tail of a feline. Yet, he remained calmed and surprised that the people living here are enjoying their times of comfort.
*Final Fantasy Tactics OST - Shop Theme Alternate (Jacob Shrum REMASTERED Ver.)
"Welcome to the Grand Kingdom, Luke." Chariot continued as she looked around. "Surprised this kingdom hasn't changed one bit. But I think you'll like it here. I assure you."
"Uh huh…" Luke replied with just a simple response as he was feeling spaced out until he heard a voice of a male speaking to him.
"You there! Yes, you!" The voice of a male which Luke noticed and looked at appears to be a guardsman wielding a sheathed sword and a shield on his left hand, pointing at him. "Yes! I'm talking to you. You may be in this Grand Kingdom but it doesn't mean you'll walk so freely here. Hmm… I see, you must be an adventurer who just arrived here, yes? Pray forgive my rudeness. Ahem! Now then. Allow me to welcome you lightly here so I can set you on the right path. So come closer so we can talk."
"You heard that guardsman. Go talk to him. I'll be waiting for you once you're finished." Chariot asked him as he had no choice but to get started by interacting with the guard.
Main Quest 1 - [Coming to Frankia]
Journal Log: "If I want to be recognized in the Grand Kingdom of Frankia, I must register myself with the Adventurer's Guild so I can understand on getting started from here."
"Now then, I'm sure you're wanting to explore, adventurers like you are required to register their presence in this kingdom. And without the local knowledge… well, you might be lured somewhere else and get shanked in some piss-ridden alleyway. So before you do anything else, please make sure to head over the royal capital of Planchard over to the Flagged Bardon and enroll with the Adventurers' Guild." The guardsman turned to his left as he pointed in the direction. "Just head straight down to where the fountain with the huge statue of Aufreya is seen. It can be a little far, sure. Once you're there, turn left and you'll see it just there. You understand now?"
"Yeah. I do." Luke responded as the guardsman nodded.
"Good. Now run along and may the glory's light guide you on your journey." The guardsman said as Luke decided to approach back to Chariot.
"Are you all set now, Luke? You know where the Flagged Bardon is, yes?" Chariot asked him.
"The fountain where the royal capital is located? Should be easy to see far from there but shouldn't be a problem." Luke continued. "Besides, you said you used to be an adventurer, right?"
"I'm still an adventurer but currently on hiatus from adventuring. Yet, it reminds me of my youth. Now, shall we get going?" Chariot asked him as he nodded. The two began their way to head to the grand capital and find the Flagged Bardon in order for Luke to register as an adventurer. For his first time, he seems to understand the situation as he tries to remain calm as the residents here in the Grand Kingdom were looking at Luke as if he is a complete stranger because of his clothes.
"I'm starting to think that I'm a special one here in this place…" Luke said in his mind as he ignored it. He looked at Chariot who felt nervous as she lowered her head a little as the people were whispering to each other of her presence. Yet, it seems that the people have heard of her.
Flagged Bardon, Grand Capital Planchard, Grand Kingdom of Frankia Afternoon - Clear Sky
*Final Fantasy Tactics OST - Pub Theme (Jacob Shrum REMASTERED Ver.)
Inside the pub within the grand capital of the Flagged Bardon. Luke and Chariot arrived to find that the pub is slightly filled with people but not that much. Though, Chariot didn't want to interact with any people that are here as she sat on the table alone, knowing that Luke needs to handle this on his own. Thus, he knows what he must do. He decided to approach the table counter to find what appears to be a female with an animal fox ears and tail who was seen checking the book as Luke approached her. She had light blonde long hair and wore an outfit fit for pubs. Her fox ears twitched as she noticed someone here.
"Ahh! Welcome, welcome. This is the Flagged Bardon. What can I help you with today?" The fox woman cheerfully greeted him.
"Umm… I'm here to register as an adventurer. This is the Adventurers' Guild, right?" Luke asked her as she happily nodded.
"Indeed! You've come to the right place! Name's Mitra, and I own this establishment here, if it surely pleases you." Mitra introduced herself as she continued. "Besides, I also manage the Adventurers' Guild here in Frankia. So you might wanna say that lookin' after fresh adventurers such as yourself is my vocation."
"I… see. Umm. Judging by your ears and tails. What are you, anyways. S-Sorry, I didn't want to be rude or disrespectful. I just want to know." Luke asked her as she tilted her head and thinked for a moment. Then, she understands as she finally responds.
"Let me guess… You've ever seen a Vulpara like me before? Judging on where you're from, you'd seem to be a really strange person." Mitra said with a suspicious glare as she then chuckled. "Ahaha! I jest, I jest! It's alright for a person like you who hasn't seen our kind before. Anyways, since you're a lucky one to say at least. Without someone like me to steer you right, you'd soon find yourself out in the middle of nowhere, caught up in a business you don't understand."
Luke remained silent as he was willing to hear her out. Knowing that he's just a complete stranger with no memories of arrival in the first place. He was glad to have Chariot at his side as she remained silent, too. Though, something is troubling her as if the past has caught up to her. And so, Mitra explains what's going on.
"Like our conflict with our neighboring Kingdom of Woldredna, for example. They've taken over the Grand Duchy of Vialto and slain their Archduke which put Frankia on edge. You see, they've been fighting against the forces for nigh on, well… forever now. Woldredna has been on a warpath, taking over villages after villages. The latest victim on the list is Mistaria Village, just outside of this kingdom at the east. Only to know that they like to round up the innocents and slaughter them like it's nothing. None can say for sure what they're plotting these days, only that they are." Mitra explained the situation of what has been going on in this realm as Luke managed to listen to what happened as he understands about Woldredna.
"Woldredna, huh? That sounds like bad people doing bad things. Perhaps crossing the line too far." Luke added as she nodded. Outside of the pub where the group of bards played their instruments as they were playing bountiful music where many but small crowds were listening to see the performance that was happening near the fountain. The bards consist of various races of females in the group. Some with ears of a rabbit, some with fox or cat ears and tail, some with pointy ears, and some are normal people. However, the two dancers who have rabbit ears with their respective different hair color were dancing along with the flow of music.
"Yes, the people make merry… but underneath it all, there's worry. Worry and a lingering feelin' of loss." Mitra said as it shows back inside the pub where the people here were just casually talking while Chariot remains silent at her table. "And little wonder. It's scarce been few weeks since the war between Frankia and Woldredna began as the two butted heads. Turning this realm into a bloody battlefield… The war came with a cost of lives. Many were killed in battle. Some continued to fight. You'd think people would remember days like these; but the fact is, they don't. Nobody does. "
"That sounds pretty brutal for a war to go on. If this Grand Duchy of Vialto has fallen along with the Archduke's death. What happened to the people who lived there?"
"Well, there are survivors. Vialto is not really a kingdom but a small one at least. Many escaped to Frankia while others… didn't get to see the light of day." Mitra continued. "But believe me, nobody wants a war like this. Just makes everyone feel scared while trying to ignore it and move on. Though, there were heroes that ventured through out Erthesia, carrying out their deeds and stopping every evil before Woldredna rose to power. We even forget what their faces look like if we can't remember them, we'll not let them be forgotten, and so we call 'em the Warriors of Light."
"Warrior of Light… Sounds like a fitting title for a hero." Luke said within his mind.
"And they'll forever stand as the shining example of what adventurers can achieve. That's why I welcome new arrivals like yourself to our grand city. All I ask is a helping hand, and try to do good deeds to make Frankia a safer place. If you can do that, I'd be happy to let you join the guild right away." Mitra said as Luke nodded in response without speaking. Though, she was happy that he could accept it. "Great! Then it's a promise! I'm counting on you to help out the good people of Frankia and hopefully leave the past behind. Anyroad, let's make this official. Go ahead and write your name in the register; neat as you can."
Mitra then passes the book on the table as he looks at the page to see a list of names who have sighed up to become an adventurer. Luke decided to take the ink-dipped feather as he proceeds to write his own name down in a language he knows in my mind. His name was in literal English. Just as that, he finishes writing his name, he passes her the book and feathers back as she looks at it. Though, she is unfamiliar with Luke's writing for some reason as she was confused.
"Again, sorry if my writing feels… foreign. But my name is Luke Nowotny, will that be acceptable?" Luke asked her as she seemed to understand it with a smile and a nod.
"Luke Nowotny… Hmm… Seems like a unique name. Pretty charming to say at least." Mitra then continued. "All right, Mister Nowotny! On behalf of the Adventurers' Guild, I officially welcome you to the Grand Kingdom of Frankia, Luke! Take a moment to catch your breath, and I'd be willing to answer anything you like."
Main Quest Complete - [Coming to Frankia]
Completed Journal Log: "I met a Vulpara named Mitra who runs the Adventurers' Guild and the Flagged Bardon establishment and she was eager to have me on as an adventurer here in Frankia. I have taken the first steps but I still need to listen to her wisdom well if I want to get started."
Main Quest 2 - [Far From Home]
Journal Log: "Mitra, proprietor of the Flagged Bardon, wants me to perform simple tasks that will help me learn the fundamentals of adventuring."
"Now then, before you go charging off to find your fortune. I've got two things I'd like you to perform so as to help you get to know the place. First of all, I need you to pay a visit to the Squires' Guild, over at Leif Avenue. I know a man who runs it there and he'd be willing to help you out. Assuming that sword ain't just for show, you might consider training yourself there. And lastly, I want you to visit the Anduin Exchange northwest within this kingdom. You'll see the Baldesian Sea there but the docks of Wojtal is widely known for it's open market. Goods from all across Erthesia and beyond turn up there every day. You'll have no trouble finding armor, weapons, or anything else if you need just the right thing for an adventurer such as yourself might need. You might say that everything's for sale here in Frankia; as long as you've got the gil. Just make sure you spend it wisely. Otherwise, you'd be broke in seconds, Luke. There as plenty as won't scruple to swindle unsuspecting foreigners like yourself, especially if they think no one's lookin' out for their best interests." Mitra continues as she gives Luke a letter for someone as he takes it from her hand. "Which is why I'm giving you this letter. When you visit the exchange, find a certain lalafell named Sanguine and give it to him. He'll be happy to tell you about the markets once he reads it. In short, then; visit the Squires' Guild and the Anduin Exchange. Simple."
"Gotcha, thanks-" Luke was cut off as Mitra spoke.
"Oh, but before you go, a word of advice: while there's more than a few unsavory characters out there who'll try to take advantage of you, there are also some with honest-to-goodness problems who you should consider offering a helping hand to. A lot of folks here are lured to this kingdom through the promise of wealth and power. What many of them fail to realize is that instead chasin' after gil the moment they get here, they ought to be makin' friends. Let it be known that you're willing to give as much as you get, and opportunities will come your way." Mitra then looked to her right as Luke looked as well of what appears to be a person standing there. "Speaking of which, you should speak with the Smith over yonder; those good people always have some advice for up-and-coming adventurers. Otherwise, that's about it for me. It's past time that you get goin. Oh, and let me know if you're finished, will you? So I won't have to worry for days on end."
The brown haired young man with normal ears looked at Luke and greeted him as Luke decided to greet him back. He then look back at Mitra with a nod as he decided to approach the Smith for the first time in hopes to understand.
"Hey. You're the Smith, right? Heard you can give out helpful tips for new adventurers like me.
"That's about right, my friend!" The Smith continued. "I'm always here to help out newcomers so you can familiarize yourself. Besides, you may be an adventurer now but I'm willing to answer any questions you throw at me."
"Right… Now then. I know it's weird for me to say." Luke then took a deep breath. "Can you tell me about the races here in Erthesia? I know, it's weird. But I was hoping you have the knowledge."
"Hmm… You wish to know the races. I mean, from what you are. You're a Hymun, right?" The Smith said to him as Luke began to think.
"Hymun… So that's what I'm called here in Erthesia… All right. Seems reasonable." Luke thought for a moment as he snapped back to reality. "Ahh. I see. What are the other races?"
"Hmm… So far, you've met Mitra who is a Vulpara. Vulparas are some sort of a tribe. But the majority of them are from the plains. While there are some who prefer to wander in the arid deserts. Then, you got the Lalafells. Small people that look like children, yes. But don't underestimate them. Felines, similar to the Vulparas, are also a tribe in some way. Elvars, you should see those kinds of people with their distinctive pointy ears. We're pretty much similar in history. Nordans, they're big people with big muscles. They're also strong warriors and good with their tasks that focus on the seas. Then, you got the Kazdraks, you should have seen those people with draconic horns on their head. And lastly… the Vieras. Now I don't have much information about them but they do exist here. From what I know, they came from the far west in the land known as Ivalice. The people of the wood." The Smith clears his throat. "Now then, that sums up what I know. Is there anything you'd like to ask?"
"No. I think I understand now. Thanks. I'll be taking my leave." Luke then turned around as he then approached the witch who had been waiting patiently this whole time. "Well then, Chariot. Are you all set? I have some tasks to do but it should be simple."
"I see. So you're well prepared?" Chariot then stood up. "Then let us get going. You said you need to pay a visit to the Squires' Guild and meet this Sanguine, yes?"
"Seems about it. Simple, right?" Luke asked her as she nodded.
"Indeed it is. However, I am still accompanying you so you need my protection just in case. Think of me as your mentor." Chariot said to him as the two went outside of the Flagged Bardon as he seemed skeptical of the concept.
"Mentor?" Luke asked.
"There are mentors that are meant to teach new coming adventurers to learn the basics of it. While some mentors can be just rude as they do not care just to take advantage of it." Chariot explained as they continued walking as Luke seemed to understand about it. "But still, you're under my care. You understand."
"Yeah. I do. First off… There's the Adventurers' Guild, right? Is there a guild for mages like you aside from the Squires' Guild?" Luke asked her as she nodded.
"There is. The Mages Guild is up towards the mountain where the castle resides. Though, that's where the higher class resides. The Monastery up there is where the Mages' Guild is at. That's where I started off my journey as an adventurer there." Chariot said as he was quite surprised that there are many opportunities here. However, all Luke needs to do is to pay a visit to the Squires' Guild in order to learn more about it.
Squires' Guild, Grand Capital of Planchard, Grand Kingdom of Frankia Afternoon - Clear Sky
Outside of the guild where both Luke and Chariot stood there while the people were just minding their own business to walk through the crowd. Though, he was nervous of what people he'll encounter. Though, Chariot decided to speak to him.
"Now then, I think you'll handle this on your own, Luke. After all, the sword is your preferred weapon of choice." Chariot said to him as he nodded.
"I get that. But… I believe you. Just wait for me once I get things done inside." Luke said as he decided to enter inside. Just as he did, the main lobby of the guild itself was complete with a training dummy, sparring area, weapon racks, and most importantly… two people at the desk. Luke remained calm as he decided to approach them by speaking to a Kazdrakian first as she had white hair and a pair of dragon horns on both sides of her head. "Umm? Hello?"
*Final Fantasy Tactics OST - Warrior's Hideout (Jacob Shrum REMASTERED Ver.)
"Hmm? Well now, you must be new here. In that case… Welcome to the Squires' Guild, friend! I am Renoa." Renoa introduces herself as she continues. "Tell me, are you new to the thrills of chivalry? Well, whether you are or not, you're new to us! If you would take your place in these hallowed halls, you must be willing and ready to undergo the most rigorous training. You must endure cuts and bruises beyond counting, and like as not far worse."
"Sounds rather… intense." Luke added.
"A daunting prospect, I concede; but there is no other way if you mean to take to the farplane one day. And why wouldn't you? Having to go all your way to become the Royal Paladin could be one of the most finest goals of all! Where else could a poor man amass such fortune so rich as to one day allow him claim a council seat of the Grand Monarchy? Ahh… there's not an Frankian alive who isn't inspired by the rise of a self-made man. And there's no true embodiment of this than the gladiator who wins riches and fame with his sword. Throughout its long and storied history, this guild has nurtured countless champions. Our training methods are second to none, and our members ever strive to develop new techniques. If you desire true glory; to fight and triumph, 'midst the roar of ten thousand voices; then this is where you belong, adventurer." Renoa continued. "...Think of it. Think of your legacy. And if your soul stirs… you're more than welcome to join us."
"I see… I'll think about it when the time is right." Luke replied as Renoa bowed. He then decided to leave as he spoke in his thoughts. "All right. That should cross off my list. If I really want to join the Squires' Guild to hone my techniques. I'm free to do so. For now, my last focus for this task is to meet Sanguine, a Lalafell hanging out at one of the market areas called the Anduin Exchange. I'll have to ask Chariot for directions."
Anduin Exchange - Woljal Docks, Grand Capital of Planchard, Grand Kingdom of Frankia, Erthesia Afternoon - Clear Sky
*Final Fantasy Tactics OST - Random Waltz (Jacob Shrum REMASTERED Ver.)
As the sun soon set, Luke followed Chariot's direction where they stumbled upon the most busiest areas here in the Kingdom. It was filled with many people going about their days while others who are willing to sell their goods to their customers with great interest. They are in the Anduin Exchange here in the maritime docks of Woljal. There, the two managed to find a certain grey haired lalafell with his hair pushed all the way back and wore a nice dress on the occasion. Though, based on Mitra's information, it is definitely that person.
"Excuse me." Luke asked the lalafell. "You must be Sanguine, yes?"
"And you are?" Sanguine asked.
"The names Luke. I'm a fresh adventurer." Luke replied with a small introduction as he smiled.
"...Oho, a newly come adventurer. But of course. Yes, I am Seseroga. What can I do for you?" Sanguine asked with interest.
"I was thinking if you can teach me the ways of this busy marketplace if you don't mind?" Luke asked him as he became quite skeptical but confused.
"Ah, you would have me teach you the ways of the marketplace? Very wise. As for my fee... What? You expect me to do it for free!? Surely you jest." Sanguine continued. "My dear adventurer, when you ask an Frankian for a favor, you should at least try to make it worth his while. Judging by your… clothing, I rather doubt you could afford my services, but the fact you offer nothing is laughable."
"Will this catch your attention?" Luke then hands over Mitra's letter of introduction to Sanguine as he takes the letter and proceeds to read it. And though, he was pretty convinced.
"Oh. Mistress Mitra instructed you to seek me out, did she? Hmph. Consider yourself fortunate to have such influential friends. I shall be brief, and you shall be attentive." Sanguine then clears his throat as he begins to speak. "You stand in the Anduin Exchange, the busiest and most profitable marketplace in the kingdom. All the great overland trade routes lead to our city, and the majority of maritime trade between Aldesna and Foelbard passes through our ports. Because of this, countless companies and consortia have chosen the Grand Kingdom of Frankia as their base of operations. They see to it that this marketplace is awash with merchants and moneylenders, day and night."
"Sounds like business, for sure." Luke said in his thoughts as Sanguine continued speaking more.
"Anything a man could ever desire can be purchased here; provided as he has sufficient funds. Surely there's something you seek, adventurer? A deadlier sword, perhaps, or a shinier trinket? Whatever it is you want, the exchange will have it." Sanguine spoke as he looked at various shopping locations to inform Luke of what's important. "To the east, you will find merchants peddling armor and accessories, curatives and crafting materials. And to the west, you will find weapons, tools, and an assortment of other useful items for sale. Seek out a particular merchant, or browse to your heart's content. But do try to remain aloof should you find something that piques your interest. Decisions made in the heat of the moment are usually unwise, especially where coin is concerned. Ahem! That is all the complimentary aid you shall have from me; and far too much for my taste. My regards to Mitra. Now off to you!"
"Thanks, I'll keep that in mind." Luke responded as he and Chariot decided to leave the market.
"Now then, are you able to familiarize yourself here, Luke?" Chariot asked him.
"More or less. Now, I just need to report back to Mitra and hopefully get this over with." Luke said as he stretched his arms to relax as the two kept walking their way back. But the question is, how long?

*Final Fantasy Tactics OST - Treasure (Jacob Shrum REMASTERED Ver.)
Meanwhile back at the Flagged Bardon where the pub has gotten livelier than usual. Luke and Chariot managed to make their return here as the night had just begun. It took them hours of walking and a little bit of exploration to get used to the directions. So, Luke approached Mitra as she noticed his return.
"How was your tour to the kingdom's city, Luke? Get lost, did you?" Mitra asked.
"A little. But we got back here as expected." Luke said to her as she giggled a bit.
"Yeah, well, Frankia's a big place with lots to see and do; but wandering around aimlessly don't pay the bills. If you're serious about makin' a livin' here, you'll need to remember where things are." Mitra continued as she pointed at him with a smile. "So when you go explorin', explore like you've got a purpose, eh?"
"Seems like it. Does this mean my task is done?" Luke asked as she nodded.
"You got it! All that's left is for you to work hard, make money, and spend it here at the Flagged Bardon!" Mitra said to him as Chariot smiled and looked at him.
"Well, you did what you could. How about a drink, Luke? Don't worry, I'll pay since you're new here." Chariot asked him as he smirked a bit.
"Heh. I think I'd be down for that." Luke said as the two decided to treat themselves after a long day of exploration around the kingdom. They all talked, ate, drank, and jest all around the pub as they wanted to enjoy this celebration with the people all around. Luke seemed to enjoy it a little as he watched the people dance with the musicians playing a song. Though, he looked at Chariot for a moment to see that she was remaining silent as she didn't buy anything for herself. Yet, he felt concerned but didn't want to pry into anything that would stress her.

Meanwhile at the inn where time has passed where both Luke and Chariot were seen settling themselves in this room as both haven't gotten to sleep let with the lantern left on. Though, Luke was left patient as he tried to think of what he is trying to do for tomorrow.
"Still having a hard time thinking, Luke?" Chariot continued. "If I were you, you should join the Squires' Guild tomorrow. So that way you can get started on how to fight."
"I know. It's just that I'm still trying to get used to this… you know, culture." Luke sighed as he looked out of the window to see the moon in the night sky. "What about you? You got plans for tomorrow as well?"
"Most likely. I'm going to the Mages' Guild to meet an old mentor of mine. She's… important to me. It has been years since I stopped adventuring when I exiled myself. And look at me, I am a Witch and always will be." Chariot said as she tightened her hands on her legs while her staff was leaning on the wall. Same goes for Luke's sword.
"W-What? I thought you'll be accompanying me. Did plans change?" Luke said to her as she nodded.
"As I said, you'll be going on your own. Besides, it'll be your first task as a Squire which will be a good experience for you. But again, I have to go my own way, too." Chariot said as Luke decided to lay on the bed.
"Okay then, I'll accept your decision. But if I may ask you this… Who's this old mentor you're talking about? You don't need to hold it back, Chariot." Luke asked her as she didn't have much of a choice rather than ignoring it. Thus, she decided to do so.
"Master Matoya… She's my old mentor who taught me everything in magic that I know. If it weren't for her, I'd have no hope left in this world. But I'm grateful that she mentored me and placed me on the right path." Chariot explained the story about her as Luke understands why she wanted to go there tomorrow. However, she was very tired as there was no time left. "However, we should go to bed and have a good rest for tomorrow. Remember, we split up as you do tasks. And we'll regroup back at the Flagged Bardon."
"Sounds like a good plan. Let's rest so we can feel better. Night, Chariot. Get some rest." Luke said to her as Chariot nodded.
"Thank you. You as well." Chariot replied as she turned off the lantern as both proceeded to head off to sleep.

And so the next day, both Luke and Chariot agreed to split up as he finally decided to make his decision… to join the Squires' Guild while Chariot had gone and went to the Mages' Guild to meet with a certain someone named Master Matoya. However, he approached Renoa as he was happy to see him again if he had made a decision yet.
"Ahh, welcome back! So then, what will it be? Will you rise above the masses and inscribe your name in legend, or will you resign yourself to mediocrity and die in obscurity?" Renoa has given him a choice as he was pretty much dead set on it.
"Yeah. Sign me up." Luke said as Renoa was pleased to hear him say it.
"A wise decision you shan't forget. Now then, would you please tell me your name so I can write it down?" Renoa said as Luke spoke his own name as she began to write it down in the book. "One moment please… Make way for Luke Nowotny! Now then, before your enrollment can be considered complete, you must present yourself to Gallant Blade Ernest. Seek him out and obtain his approval."
Luke then searched for a person named Ernest as he was already there when he saw Luke's arrival. He has chin-length blonde hair and blue eyes. Yet, a young adult donned a silver armor as he was eager to meet him. Thus, he is broad minded, frank and sociable. Perhaps sometimes laid-back.
"Good tidings, potential knight. I heard from Renoa. So you must be Luke Nowotny. 'Tis a good name you bear." Ernest continued. "On behalf of the Squires' Guild, allow me to welcome you. I am Ernest, guildmaster here."
"Pleasure." Luke then takes his hand for a firm handshake.
"So you wish to study our arts. I presume you have your reasons for choosing the sword over all other weapons. Perhaps you think it is easiest to learn. A sword is a simple weapon. But to wield a blade well is anything but simple. Becoming from a Squire to a Knight to a Paladin is not easy but a daunting task that will depend on your skills and honor. So long as other Squires put their time into their blade in hopes to become a Paladin for the Grand Monarchy here in this kingdom. Bear that in mind before you answer me, Luke, for I do not ask this question lightly: do you have the strength to live by the sword nor if it be your fate; die by it?" Ernest said to him as Luke had to answer his question if he had the bravery to do so. But he made his choice.
"I have the strength to live by the sword, Gallant Blade Ernest." Luke responded as Ernest had a kind smile on his face.
"Then welcome, squire, to your new home!" Ernest continued. "Let's not waste time, shall we? I would gauge your aptitude for the sword. Just outside the gates of Frankia, you'll find plenty of marmots, hornets, and dire wolves. Slay three of each and return here with proof when finished. A simple task, but essential to your training nonetheless. Now, go."
Luke nodded as he left the guild as he finally began his very first job-related task that involved slaying three beasts with a blade. Though, he needed something that could help carry. He did not hesitate as he must prepare for everything he needs before his training can begin.
Dijon Plains, Frankia Territory, Erthesia Daytime - Clear Sky
*Final Fantasy Tactics OST - Tutorial (Jacob Shrum REMASTERED Ver.)
And so at the vast grassy plains known as Djion where it was right outside but far from the Grand Kingdom of Frankia. But it was still part of the Frankia Territory. However, it has been a home to various beasts within the ecosystem where they roam around freely, fight each other, or migrate from one place to another. Luke arrived with his sword on his right hand and the empty bag, hunting knife, and one potion he had bought from the Anduin Exchange with Chariot's Gil he spent on only. But thanks to the directions he received from the Frankian patrol soldiers. He has finally arrived to see the land that is already vast where he can see things from afar and even villages he could see. He felt the wind breezing right onto his face. He then looked up in the sky to see the small airships flying it's way to the Grand Kingdom. He already assumes that there are business traders doing their things as usual. But he must focus on his task at hand. To slay three different beasts by his hand. He had to make sure to look around his surroundings to see if there were any beasts around so he could understand what he's doing.
"There you are…" Luke has finally seen a huge hornet but not that huge that was seen hovering low on the plains as he readies his sword. Yet, he couldn't contain his excitement as he was confident enough to take a single hornet on. "YAAAAAAAAAAH!"
Luke then charged into action as the Hornet turned around and noticed him charging towards him but it was too late. Luke managed to stab the torso the the hornet with his sword as it gushed out the blood of an insect out of it. He quickly pulls out the sword and stabs it again right into the head, finally killing it. He finally killed his first beast. Yet, he felt like this was easy. But the only thing he needs to do is to skin the beast to show Ernest the poof that he has killed. So, he stabs the sword on the ground and pulls his hunting knife out as he decides to skin the hornet to simply take what he needs to show… He decided to take the shell skin from the dead body of a hornet instead. He successfully skins out of something as he puts it on the bag. He finally catches his breath as he stands up.
"One down… well, many to go. Just need two more hornets to kill. The rest will soon follow." Luke said to himself again as he looked more to see the beasts in different areas on this place as he unsheathed his sword again as he was prepared to hunt more beasts until an unsuspecting marmot rams into his legs as he trips on the floor. "Why you…!"
He quickly got up to see a marmot running past him as he was slightly annoyed by it so he gave chase. But after a few seconds, everything was silent here in the plains. Until he was utterly chased by the pack of dire wolves as he was frantically running as the marmot chases as well. Few seconds later again in silence, the sounds of slashes and gnashes were heard from the right as it stopped as it appeared to be that he had already slain the beasts more. The dire wolf was seen running away as Luke gave chase once more while a huge hornet followed him from behind. And so the hunting continues as usual.
Mages' Guild, Grand Capital of Planchard, Grand Kingdom of Frankia Daytime - Clear Skies
Meanwhile… at the Mages' Guild in the Grand Capital of Planchard. Chariot had arrived at this place where she had not come for five years ever since that day. To her surprise, she finds out that the guild is still active as ever as practitioners of magicks were conjuring spells to hone their skills as wizards or sorceresses. Black Mage and White Mage. Destruction and Restoration. Chariot remained calm of her composure where she finds her old mentor who was seen sitting on the table near the bookshelves as she was seen drinking tea while reading something that is on the book's text. The woman is a Feline with light brown skin, light teal eyes, and white hair with two frontal pigtails tied with rings. But, she was wearing a long-sleeved white top with extended sides and back, short black shorts, black thigh-high boots and a black bolero shrug over her shoulders. However, her eyes were covered by a black blindfold for some reason as if this is her choice. But, the blindfolded Feline noticed someone familiar when she arrived.
"Ahh, so it seems you've arrived? To see me once again?" The white-haired Feline asked Chariot as she approached her.

"Master Matoya… It has far been too long. I was wondering if you're doing okay for the last five years since my self-imposed exile." Chariot asked her as she continued to read through the text in her mind as she flipped the pages.
"Please, Chariot. Call me Y'shtola. 'Tis no need for you to call me that. Besides, there is none for me to teach you any more magicks. After all, I placed you on the right path. Is there nothing more to say?" Y'shtola said as Chariot shook her head.
"No, there isn't, Mas- I mean Y'shtola. However, it was the first time I came back here. I feel uneasy with people around me." Chariot said as she sat on the seat to look at her. But she proceeds to place her hand on her chest. "And now… I met this person… a young man who woke up in the Elsara Deepword. He was defenseless and weak. So I had no choice but to help him. Though… I get the feeling that he's helping me now."
"That man? Whoever he is. I would assume that he must be a kind-hearted person." Y'shtola continued. "Perhaps you could tell me more? If so, the name of this man would allow me to understand."
"Very well. His name is Luke Nowotny. I never knew anything about him except that one thing… He's a strange person. Strange, yet kind. And the only problem that he has right now is amnesia. Sadly, he couldn't remember everything from his past but his name." Chariot explained everything about Luke and who he is. Y'shtola thinked for a small moment as she thought of it as she spoke.
"Luke Nowotny… 'Tis indeed a strange name but moreover… he must be an interesting person with no memories at all for a stranger in paradise. Pray tell, Chariot. There is something that I must ask of you." Y'shtola continued as she listened to her words. "The Kingdom of Woldredna is slowly getting closer every moment when they finally set their foot on the Frankian soil. Pillaging and conquering villages one to another. The fall of the Grand Duchy was only just the beginning."
"I am aware of that. But if Luke were to take on the Mad King… he would not stand a chance against him. However, I am keeping my close to him should the soldiers of Woldredna intend to harm Luke." Chariot said as Y'shtola simply chuckled at her conversation.
"To be frank, you're starting to act as Luke's mentor once." Y'shtola said as Chariot looked away a little as she blushed.
"N-No. It's… p-please… You mustn't remind me of this, Y'shtola. I am but just a witch…" Chariot was rather flustered as Y'shtola finished drinking her tea.
"It was merely a jest, Chariot. Please, calm yourself." Y'shtola continued as she closed the book and carried it with her hands as she stood up from her chair. "However, I must attend to my duties looking over my students. 'Twas a good conversation with you. Please come again if you wish to see me."
"Thank you, Y'shtola. That I shan't forget. I must be off. Farewell." Chariot replied as the Feline nodded as she returned back to her mage duties. She then proceeded to head off and return to the Flagged Bardon.

Then back at the Flagged Bardon. Minutes has passed of her walking her way back there, she finds Luke who was seen sitting on the table, eating a small meal but he had some bruises everywhere but not that much. Apparently, he had completed the task for the Squires' Guild and earned himself a new sword that he replaced with after giving the skinned materials as proof to the guild. Chariot remained calm and decided to approach him as Luke noticed when he turned around.
"Oh, hey there. Didn't know you'd be here but… I just finished my task for the guild today. It was quite a struggle but I managed to complete it just fine. Aside from the pains I've endured. I had to consume the only potion I drank. And how was your visit to the Mages' Guild. Were you able to reunite with your old mentor?" Luke asked her as she nodded.
"Yes. I have. Though, she's currently the same as when I first met her. Yet, she remains straight-forward." Chariot said as Luke finished eating his small meal when he stood up and looked at her.
"I'm glad to hear that. Anyways, I need to talk to Mitra. She apparently has something to say about what's going on. And I feel like it's important. I know I'm feeling a little too cautious. But are you willing to help me?" Luke asked her as she nodded.
"Of course I will. I am to look after you." Chariot replied.
"Good. Then we're ready." Luke said as he and Chariot decided to approach Mitra. "Hey, Mitra. You have a new task for me, right? I heard it's troubling."
"I do. I heard words from an old friend of mine. His name is Roedyn, owner of the Silvershire Farms in the village of Alberta." Mitra continued. "The people and Roedyn are having problems with a certain Goobbue that has been terrorizing the residents and destroying the orchards for hours on end. Hopefully, I think you can handle that threat with ease since it's the only monster. But best to make sure to keep your guard up."
"Gotcha. Where is this place anyways?" Luke asked her.
"If you need directions. Just head down south of the gates, through Dijon Plains, then head east to where the place is found. Their village is near a cave for a reason. Oh and, one more thing…" Mitra continued. "Tell Roedyn that I said hi."
"Will do. So… you ready for this, Chariot?" Luke asked her.
"I am. But like she said, we'll have to be careful if we were to deal with that monster." Chariot added as he nodded.
"I know. Now then, let's head over to the village and see their troubles that need to be dealt with." Luke then prepares to head off as Chariot follows him. Now, their real test of skills begins in hopes to take down the monster and put it down for good.
Main Quest 5 - [Unexpected Occurrences]
Journal Log: "Mitra has informed me that the villagers of Alberta are having problems with an certain monster gone rampant."
Alberta Village, Dijon Plains, Frankia Territory, Erthesia Daytime - Clear Sky
*Final Fantasy Tactics OST - Antidote (Jacob Shrum REMASTERED Ver.)
And so, the two had finally arrived at the small village of Alberta where the crops of Silvershire Farms were ruined. The people were barely struggling to survive with little to no food at all. Luke had to understand the feeling of why the people had to go through this pain. The villigers remained silent as they were looking at the adventurer while some are minding their business. However, they decided to look for a person named Roedyn who is a Nordan based on Mitra's information. The two had to make sure to look around and search for something that is larger than any human size. There, Luke finds a lone Nordan farmer who was seen wearing a farmer outfit and a straw hat to avoid the sun's heat. The two then approach to meet the Nordan they're looking for. Luke wasn't sure but he had to go for it where he was seen planting his crops.
"Umm… Excuse me? Are you Roedyn? Mitra told me that you're having problems going on." Luke asked him as he turned around.
"Aye, The name's Roedyn. And Mitra? Hmm… Let me guess, she has mentioned to me about the situation going on? That damned monster terrorizing this village." Roedyn said as he continued. "As you can see, my crops are ruined by that monster. A Goobbue as I saw. Now, it's made its new home in the Azhur Vaal Cave."
"Azhur Vaal Cave?" Luke asked as Chariot talked in.
"It's known to be an underground sanctuary where the fresh spring water flows filled with nature and a tree filled with aether. There's also natural sunlight above the cave, too." Chariot explained as the Nordan was surprised.
"You're well versed with those kinds of things, that's for sure." Roedyn continued. "As much as I don't like wasting time. Just head north of this village where the cave nearby is seen. We used to gather spring water there but not anymore… You must kill that monster for us. The whole village."
"Don't worry, we'll make sure to slay it." Luke replied as Roedyn felt relieved.
"Thank you, adventurer. Though, word of advice. You're not the only two here. There were other two adventurers here as well but went inside the cave. I haven't heard any words from those two but can you search them for me to see if they're okay?" Roedyn asked him.
"Hmm… I see. Very well, we'll head inside the cave and see what's going on. Let us go, Chariot. We can't waste time." Luke said as she nodded as the two made their way to the cave outside but close to the village.
Azhur Vaal Cave, Outside Alberta Village, Erthesia Daytime - Clear Sky
*Final Fantasy Tactics OST - Requiem (Jacob Shrum REMASTERED Ver.)
Inside the Azhur Vaal Cave, the two had ventured down from the cave further and further as they had to remain careful with their weapons out. Luke was entirely unsure if a monster does reside here and has been terrorizing the people in the village. Chariot was seen using her light orb spell to glow up from the darkness of the cave.
"I gotta say, Chariot. How far are we going down from this cave, exactly?" Luke asked her.
"Not too far. However, I can sense the aether… which means it's close." Chariot said as Luke remained curious.
"Now that you mentioned it. How come you can feel the aether? Is it because you're a mage? Can I feel the aether, too?" Luke wanted to ask her about that but she tried to think.
"Most people in this realm here can feel the aether. Some are willing to practice the way of magicks. However, for you. Despite you're still a stranger who woke up. I could say… you can feel the aether. Can you?" Chariot asked him about it as he wonders to try it out. He takes a deep breath and tries to feel it but…
"I think… I can feel it? Sort of? I don't know." Luke continued as the two walked down the cave path. "For now, let's focus on this task at hand. But based on your details about what you said about the cave. I do want to see it for myself."
As the two delve deeper within the cave. They finally reached their destination where Chariot can feel the aether coming from the endpoint which is the tree itself. Luke was awed by this beautiful scenery here within this cave where there was actual grass, flora, flowing rivers of spring water, and the tree in the middle with the sunlight shining from above. Chariot dispelled her light orb as Luke slowly approached the tree as he tried to feel it.
"This feels… amazing… I never knew a place such as this could be this pretty." Luke said as he stepped back to see the bits of aether flowing around this place. "You've been there before, right?"
"Sadly no, this is my first." Chariot continued . "Also, you should refrain from touching the tree."
"But why?" Luke asked.
"She's right, you know. Besides, this place is considered sacred to them by the villagers." The sound of a smooth-talking man who was seen arriving out of the shadows as he was accompanied with a Feline as his partner. He is an Hymun of medium height and had a dark blonde long hair that covers his left eye and wore a dark teal trench coat with a belt strap on his waist, black pants, and black shoes as he held a matchlock-looking pistol which looked Karlslandian-made and a dagger on each hand. Both looked at his arrival as Luke remained calm but serious. However, he tried to recall what Roedyn said about two adventurers who hadn't returned.
"Excuse me… You are those adventurers who haven't returned from the cave? Is the monster slain yet?" Luke asked him as he shook his head with a shrug.
"If you mentioned the monster of a rampaging Goobbue, it's hiding around here when we were hunting down smaller monsters that have made their home as well. Isn't that right, Mistolina?" The man said to a Feline as she came out of the shadow. She had long blonde hair with Feline ears and tail, she also had a silk blue ribbon tied behind her hair, blue eyes, and donned an elegant light armor with a dress as if she was a princess. Though, she had a shield on her left hand which had a symbol of some tree. Plus, her sword is sheathed on her shield. (A/N: Check the Shadowverse version of her same name. You'll get the idea.)
"Why yes." The Feline known as Mistolina spoke. "Though, we've only taken down most monsters except the large one. But if I may ask out of curiosity, why are you two here in this cave? To gaze at the tree filled with aether? Exploration?"
"Err… Something between the lines. We're only here to hunt down one monster and that's it… Seems we were mistaken. Plus… Who are you two, exactly? I'll introduce myself first. My name is Luke Nowotny, new to adventuring. This one here accompanying me is Chariot du Lac. She's been helping me on my adventures here and there." Luke was eager to trust them enough to introduce themselves as Chariot added.
"It's more like I'm watching over you." Chariot said.
"Ahh… Luke, yes. You have an interesting name. Now then, pray forgive our rude lateness. My name is Crosswell Nas Runboldt. Like you and Mistress Chariot. I, too, am an adventurer. Formerly a sky pirate. Believe me, I've had run-ins with some of the most dangerous brigrand groups here in the Frankia territory. As for my partner here… Well, why don't you take it from here?" Crosswell said to his partner as she graciously nodded in response.
"Gladly! What I am is the Forest Princess- Oh! I haven't properly introduced myself have I? Silly me!" Mistolina continued as she bowed graciously. "I am Mistolina Metera, in case you don't know. I hail from the Kingdom of Naterra in the lands of Ivalice of the far west.
"You see, she calls herself the guardian of the forests of Naterra. She left her kingdom in Ivalice to explore the lands of Erthesia. I ended up meeting her at the city of Marsiella Siesta at the western windswept iles. Will our backstory of our meeting suffice, Your Highness?" Crosswell asked her as she chuckled a bit with a smile.
"Oh please, I still have much to learn before I deem myself worthy of the title. As for you, Luke and Chariot. You are free to call me Mistolina as my partner here said before." Mistolina said as the two seemed to understand.
"Gladly. Perhaps you can help us find that monster here so the villagers can rest easy-" Luke was interrupted as the sound of a stomp was getting closer. The large monster with grass on its head, big mouth with many short teeths, slim lumpy arms, and a really fat torso. Everyone remained careful when the monster known as a Goobbue crashes through the tree as it causes it to fall, the leaves on the free begins to slowly fade away into bits of aether as the wood of the tree itself was destroyed. But something is not right. The Goobbue's eyes were glowing red. "W-What the hell!?"
*Final Fantasy Tactics A2 OST - The Confronted Ones
"It seems the Goobue has finally come out to show itself." Mistolina said as she drew out her sword from her shield with confidence.
"However, it seemed to be frenzied for some reason. Perhaps the aether had affected him. This is rather strange. I'm sorry, you two. Could you perhaps lend us a hand here? Putting that damned monster down will be the only thing I'd be thinking about." Crosswell readied both of his weapons as Luke and Chariot stepped in.
"No need to say it twice. As long as it helps the people of the village there, the better. But the problem is… Should it escape during our fight, it would continue it's rampage." Luke thought of it as Chariot knew what she was doing. She was seen using her staff to conjure a powerful wall barrier to block off the exit should the Goobbue escape.
"Do not worry, I have casted a Wall Barrier to block off the path. But you must prepare yourself, this monster is affected by the aether." Chariot warned as Luke held tightly on his new sword from the Squires' Guild.
All he needs to do is to survive and team with the other two, Crosswell and Mistolina. The Goobbue roared in rage as the monster slammed it's arm down as Mistolina defended herself with a shield as Crosswell readied his pistol as he fired a shot to shoot it in the head, temporarily stunning it. He then leaps off of her shield as he was up high, ready to slash it with his dagger as Crosswell swung down his dagger from behind to slash it's back. Luke ran towards the monster as he slashed it's left leg as the Goobbue lost its balance. Chariot was preparing her spell from her staff as she began chanting it.
"Strike down my enemies from the skies of heavens above! Tear their flesh by bolts! Thundara!" Chariot chants as she casts a powerful lightning spell as the powerful bolts of thunder rain down upon the Goobue from the hole above the cave shocks the monster. The monster roared loudly as the smaller Goobbues dropped down from the hole in the groups of four. "It seems the monster has called for unwanted attention. Lest we strike them down fast!"
"For a second there, I agree with her words. Luke, I suggest you stand back." Crosswell asked him as he noticed, though he was confused. He didn't say anything as he decided to stand back from his way as Crosswell told him to. "Now then… Let's put on a spectacular show, shall we?"
Crosswell then grabs out a handful of Gil from his pockets as he throws money at the small packs of monsters as they see them in the air. The man flicks down the pistol to reveal it's over-under contraption of the weapon as he loads in the bullet filled with elemental aether. He flicks the pistol back up, spinning it and aimed at the coin. He pulls the trigger as the red beam comes out of the pistol's barrel as it starts to collide with the coin, causing it to bounce off and ricochets onto another one. The bullet started to pierce the small packs of Goobbues through a swift ricochet of Gils one to another. After multiple ricochets and piercings, the bullet hits the last coin as it impacts towards the ground, creating an explosion as Luke was surprised of what he can do. Crosswell spun his gun and held it to blow off the smoke from the barrel.
"Surprised aren't you?" Mistolina continued as she talked to Luke while dealing with the other smaller monsters. "Crosswell has many tricks up his sleeves but he told me this one was his favorite."
"Now now, we must continue dealing with that brute before it gobbles us all." Crosswell said as he dodged the incoming attack. "Oh gods, Luke!"
Luke noticed the Goobbue coming towards him as it grabbed him. He was too late to react and struggled to break free from the monster's grasp. Knowing that he did not pay attention. It only made his guard keep down as he felt the tight pressure as he tried to withstand the pain.
"C-Chariot! Do it!" Luke commands the witch as she begins conjuring a ball of fire as she hurls it towards the monster with her staff as it explodes on impact, staggering it. The Goobue roared as it tossed Luke into the air as he was ready to deliver a finishing blow with his sword. "Die now!"
Luke then lands on the head of the Goobbue as he plants his sword right onto it's head, causing it to feel intense pain and flailing everywhere. The three could see Luke on the top of the monster as he pulls the sword out and does it again. He then jumps off the monster and lands with a safe roll. He turned around to see the monster finally to cease as it fell down face first as it was no longer responding. The Goobbue is finally dead by the hands of the four adventurers. Luke begins to catch a breath as he sheathed his sword Knowing that fighting has made him a bit tired. Crosswell was rather impressed knowing that their job was also done. Chariot dispels the wall barrier in the process so they can leave.
"Well now, with that monster finally dead. I can finally start to feel the fresh air once." Crosswell said as he holsters his weapons.
"May the forests guide you on your journey to the great beyond…" Mistolina had begun making her prayer for the monster's death. She stood up and looked at both Luke and Chariot. "I must say. We'd make a great team. Fighting monsters with allies of four makes it really exciting."
"More like having to deal with all these annoyances that came from above." Luke added as he scratched the back of his head.
"I rather concur. They were not much of a problem to be, anyways." Mistolina countered his statement as Chariot spoke in.
"Now that we've defeated that monster. All we can do is to report to Roedyn of the situation and return to the Grand Kingdom so Mitra can know." Chariot continued. "Shall we head back? Luke?"
However, Luke saw a blue glowing orb-like crystal on the ground that just appeared from the ground next to the dead body of the monster. He then slowly approached it, kneeling to grab the orb with his hand until he felt a jolt within his head. The tension was very high and he could not let it go. Chariot called him as both Crosswell and Mistolina noticed. But he could barely hear them as his mind began to sink into nothingness…
*Final Fantasy XIV OST - Prelude ~ Discoveries
Then, inside the mind where everything was void but with streams of aether flowing up into the sky. He opens his eyes as he looks around but a magic circle below him, there appears a blue orb as the link of aether connects with him as he feels something within him. Then, the vision shines brightly as it transitions somewhere else. As the shineness dies down after. He was seen floating in the void as he couldn't speak anything at all…
"Hear… Feel… Think…"
Luke hears the same words again for the third time as the voice has become clear now. He began to look around his surroundings until he turned behind looked in awe to see what's in front of him as he was glowing. But the voice speaks to him again.
"Crystal bearer…"
The crystal was floating right in front of his eyes as he floated his way there to take a closer look as the voice spoke more.
"I am Hydvardine. All made one. A Light there once was that shone throughout this realm... yet it hath since grown dim. And as it hath faltered, so hath Darkness risen up in its stead, presaging an end to Life. For the sake of all, I beseech thee: deliver us from this fate!"
The crystals begin to hover up more and more as other crystals begin to join in orbit, there lies the giantanic crystal that he saw. He was lost for words.
"The power to banish the Darkness dwelleth in the Crystals of Light. Journey forth and lay claim to them. By thy deeds shall the Crystals reveal themselves to thee. Only believe, for the Light liveth in thy heart."
Luke looked to his right to see the mysterious figure of what appears to be a person wearing splendid knight armor as he flies towards the crystals. So do the others flying past him and various other races. Luke then flies up to join them as the lights were circling around the giant crystal as Luke proceeded to fly up higher where he could see the light shining on him as he reached towards it as the brightness shines to consume everything.
"Go now, Warrior of Light, and shine thy Light on all creation."
Then back to reality… Luke was laying on the ground as he slowly woke up from the sudden slumber to where Chariot was looking at him all worried.
*Final Fantasy Tactics OST - Memories (Jacob Shrum REMASTERED Ver.)
"Luke! Thank gods you're alive. We were waiting for you to wake up after you've grabbed something. Are you okay?" Chariot said to him as Crosswell and Mistolina were seen standing there, relaxing after what happened.
"C-Chariot… I… I saw it… The light…" Luke continued as Chariot remained confused but was willing to listen. "I've heard the voice again… but it was that giant crystal that talked to me… the one called Hydvardine…"
"Hydvardine? But how…?" Chariot asked him.
"When I touched that crystal-looking stone… She talked to me… and called me… the Warrior of Light." Luke said the word as it caught everyone's attention.
"Warrior of Light? But that's impossible. Not only did you talk to Mother Hydvardine, she also chose you as the Warrior of Light?" Chariot was confused as ever until Crosswell spoke in.
"Believe what it may, Mistress Chariot." Crosswell continued as he walked back and forth as speaks. "From what I'm hearing of what Luke said about meeting Mother Hydvardine and being chosen as the Warrior of Light is true. Those who bear the light are chosen by destiny itself."
"A Warrior of Light? It sounds like a splendid title, to say at least. But, I believe I agree with Crosswell on that one. After all, we've all heard legends and tales of each and every Warriors of Light passed down from one generation to another." Mistolina added as Luke was helped up by Chariot.
"So what you're saying is… that being the Warrior of Light means something…" Luke said as Crosswell snaps his fingers.
"It means those chosen are to fight and repel the impending Darkness that soughts to bring calamity into this realm. Possibly, a spreading malady." Crosswell spoke until they all heard something going on outside where the screams were heard from a far. "Hmm… it seems the talk will have to wait. Come along, Mistolina. It appears that we have invaders seeking havoc in the village.
*Final Fantasy Tactics OST - The Pervert (Jacob Shrum REMASTERED Ver.)
"At once!" Mistolina agrees as she begins to follow him out from the cave. Luke did not hesitate.
"We should follow them as well. Something might have gone wrong…" Luke asked Chariot.
"I agree. But we must be careful. I just have a bad feeling about this." Chariot replied as the two made their way out of the cave.
Alberta Village, Dijon Plains, Frankia Territory, Erthesia Daytime - Clear Sky
The four exits the Azhur Vaal Cave as they come to see what has resulted when Luke saw something for the first time… there was a fire set ablaze in the village and the people living there were screaming for help as they could hear the blades clashing. An enemy had begun invading to take over the village.
*Final Fantasy Tactics OST - Back Fire (Jacob Shrum REMASTERED Ver.)
"This is… horrible! The village is on fire! We gotta do something!" Luke exclaimed as Chariot remained worried of what's going on.
"My, Luke. You're really wanting to save people. Besides, these Woldredna people are awfully rude and disrespectful as ever today." Mistolina said as she drew out the sword. "Shall we tend and deal with them, Crosswell?"
"We shall. Though, as much I don't want blood on my hands. We have no choice. Let us get going!" Crosswell replied as the two went on ahead.
"Damn it… Chariot! We have to save them!" Luke said as he ran on ahead as Chariot tried to call out to him.
"W-Wait!" Chariot tried to call him but she had to follow him.
As they arrived at the village which was set ablaze, there were corpses of people everywhere as they were mercilessly killed in cold blood by the soldiers of Woldredna. Roedyn was seen wielding a two-handed axe as he was defending himself from the armored soldiers. He shoves him with his axe and swings it to the right side as he chops the torso of the soldier as blood violently spews everywhere.
"Seven hells… Why now…! Why invade us so soon!" Roedyn said as he looked to his left to see another soldier with a spear charging at him as he dodges, swinging down his axe as more blood spews. "Come at me! I will kill you all- AUGH!"
At the most unexpected time, another spearman charged towards Roedyn as his waist was pierced to the chest as two other spearmans joined in to stab him. He let his guard down at the worst time as one of the Woldredna Archers fired an arrow flying towards his forehead as it managed to kill him completely. The soldiers take back their spears as the axe-wielding Nordan falls to die. That is until one of the soldiers gets shot in the head by a bullet which came from Crosswell's pistol as he reloads it. Mistolina dashes in to cut down the soldiers with ease as she somehow didn't get blood on her light armor dress though speed.
"I must say, they're really intent on killing everyone here." Crosswell said to himself as he dodged one of the soldier's attacks, which was the sword. He blocks the attack with his dagger and proceeds to place his pistol barrel up right into his head and pulls the trigger as blood spews out. "Great… Now I'll have to order a new set of clothes. Now I got someone's dirty blood. What about you, Mistolina. How's dealing with them?"
"Everything's fine!" Mistolina exclaimed as she blocked the incoming arrows and ran towards them. "Now, if you excuse me… I need to deal with the archers!"
"Ahh, there you are, Luke. Seems you're serious this time. Planning to sharpen your blade?" Crosswell said to him as Luke managed to kill the soldier with his sword.
"I am but… these guys. Who are those Woldredna soldiers? What do they want?" Luke asked him.
"Ahh. Seems you haven't got more information about them, yes? Very well, I will be as quick and informative as I can." Crosswell said as he fired another shot as he killed another soldier from afar. "Listen well. The Kingdom of Woldredna is led by a Mad King named Quinten vas Zelagos. He craves war and chaos the more he desires it. Woldredna has a pretty long history regarding the rebellion against its own people after the death of Quinten's father, Uriel zos Zelagos. And just as recently, Quinten has been building a mighty army and has tested the borders by taking over the Grand Duchy of Vialto. He succeeded and the Archduke of Vialto was slain. Now, he has been leading his soldiers to take over villages in the Frankian soil one by one. There… You understand now?"
*Final Fantasy Tactics OST - Trisection (Jacob Shrum REMASTERED Ver.)
"Yeah… I think I do." Luke said until an ambushing soldier was about to attack until Chariot casted a spear of ice to brutally impale the soldier as blood spewed all over the ice. "Chariot! You're here!"
"Sorry for my lateness but you must be careful, Luke. We must drive them out before they kill any more villagers!" Chariot informed him as he nodded as he approved of her suggestion.
"Good, then come with me, Chariot! There's still time to save those people!" Luke said to her as she ran into action with Chariot following him. He begins charging towards a soldier who was ready to kill an innocent Vulparan as he stabs the soldier in the neck and pulls it out from him. A simple villager was afraid for his life, filled with fear. But he was slightly relieved that he was saved.
"T-Thank you!" The Vulparan man said to him as he nodded.
"No problem. Run and get to safety." Luke told him as the Vulparan agreed as he stood up and ran. He wipes the blood off his sword knowing that there are still more soldiers wandering around the village. But instead the four soldiers decided to surround him and Chariot as their swords and axes ready.
Woldredna Axeman: "You've got nowhere to go!"
Woldredna Swordsman: "Hope you're prepared to die!"
"These guys are really vicious… Chariot… can you do something?" Luke asked her.
"I can… just close your eyes. I'll make sure you'll get a chance to strike." Chariot told him as he closed his eyes. She began casting her spell from her staff as the ball of light was being conjured.
Woldredna Swordsman: "Seven hells, someone stop her!"
"Flash!" Chariot slams her staff on the ground as the ball of light explodes as it suddenly blinds them. "Now!"
"Got it!" Luke then opens his eyes as he kills the soldier as he slashes and stabs him in the side of the head, then he goes for the second who was carrying an axe. He stabs to knock him down on the floor as he proceeds to stab his face in which that pierced through his helmet. "Phew… That was much of a help. You dealt with them already?"
Chariot was seen using her fire spell to burn the soldiers from the insides of the armor as they started to scream in pain and agony as their flesh was being burned away as they struggled to get the fire off. Chariot looked at their body still moving on the ground as they slowly died from the fire she had casted. But in her eyes… She was heartless towards her enemies until Luke approached her.
"Hey, Chariot!" Luke called her and she snapped back to reality. "You okay?"
"Y-Yes… I am. Sorry that I didn't pay attention to you but yes. They've already been dealt with." Chariot continued. "However, there is still more to deal with so our job is not done."
"Agreed. Wait… is that…?" Luke then looked at something from afar… There was a group of soldiers riding on Chocobos as what the people call them. But there are soldiers running. However, their armor belongs to the Frankian army.
Frankian Swordsman: "Quickly! Kill the Woldredna soldiers! Protect the village! CHARGE!"
The soldiers of Frankia who had heard of what was going on began rushing in as they started killing the enemy soldiers with sheer might. The enemy of Woldredna tried to resist but it proved no use, they were getting overwhelmed by that many soldiers that were over 50. However, this was the time for them to flee…
Woldredna Spearmen: "I-It's no use! We must retreat now- AGH!"
Frankian Rifleman: "Don't let the retreat! Kill the corwards!"

The Frankian army began slaughtering the fleeing Woldredna soldiers with no mercy at all. The battle was over. A lot of villagers had died at the hands of Woldredna. Mistolina had seen the enemy retreating as she happily waved at them.
"Hope you all have a great day!~" Mistolina gleefully waved as Crosswell had his pistol placed on his shoulders.
"Playing nice with them, are you?" Crosswell said to her as she nodded.
"I am. After all, they get what's coming. Oh, there you are Luke and Chariot. What took you two so long? Seems we've just defended the village." Mistolina said to the two.
"Yeah… but the villagers…" Luke felt down as the Feline understood his feelings.
"I get that you're feeling down but you did what we could. However, we must be ready should that invade somewhere at any time." Mistolina tried to cheer him up as Crosswell spoke in.
"However, we must get going. After all, it was an honor to fight alongside you. Sadly, it is time that we part ways. Perhaps we might meet again at the Grand Kingdom, of course. Mistolina, let us go. Our job's done." Crosswell continued as he walked. "Fare thee well, you two. Mayhaps we will cross once more."
"It was an honor to fight alongside you, Luke. You as well, Chariot. Like my partner said, we'll meet again for sure! Now then, I should get going or I'll be seriously late. Farewell!~" Mistolina waved goodbye as she followed Crosswell. The two looked at each other then looked at the village that was still in flames.
"Seems our job is done here as well… We have no choice but to inform Mitra about the situation." Chariot said to him. "We should return to the Grand Kingdom and get all the peace we need."
"Yeah… Definitely…" Luke said as he remained calm but terrified of what it had become… the Frankian soldiers were seen covering tons of corpses with cloth as it became a bloody mess. The two began making their leave of this village and headed back. Meanwhile, the mysterious young girl with green hair was looking at the two leaving from afar above as her hair was blown by the winds. Thus, she turned around and left without a trace.

Updated Journal Log: "I feel horrified. The entire village was burned to the ground by the forces of Woldredna. However, I managed to save one. What have I dragged myself into this mess?"
Odal Palace, Kingdom of Woldredna, Erthesia Daytime - Clear Skies
*Final Fantasy Tactics OST - Cryptic Mood (Jacob Shrum REMASTERED Ver.)
Meanwhile in the Kingdom of Woldredna… The mad king Quinten was seen sitting a glass of wine to remain patient on his throne where he was alone all by himself. Suddenly, one of his advisors was seen walking towards him as he was seen approaching him and stood there. The advisor named Loqi who was seen kneeling.
"Milord. I bring ill tidings…" Loqi said to him as Quinten remained calm but unimpressed.
"Very well. Speak. And make it quick." Quinten demanded with a serious cold look on his face.
"Y-Yes, Milord. As you can see… our troops deployed to Alberta Village were killed in battle. Only five soldiers successfully returned here safely." Loqi informed him of what happened at the events of the invasion they tried to take over. The mad king himself… remained silent as he tried to think. "Milord?"
"I've heard enough… Go… You're dismissed." Quinten commanded him as the advisor bowed in response as he turned around to make his leave. However, Quinten placed his drink on the arm rest as he stood up as he drew out a knife and decided to throw it right into the back of Loqi's head as blood spewed everywhere. And just like that… Quinten had lost control for a second as he remained calm… but impatient. "Tch… Failed? FAILED!? Impossible! Our military is powerful and absolute! There is no way they were killed! Seven hells, damn it all! ...Very well. Not only you lost my temper… I'll make sure to give you a pleasant gift, King of Frankia…"
And so… the war continues…
-Next Chapter - Quest 2: Vows of Virtue, Deeds of Cruelty-
Author's Notes: Hello, everyone. Thank you for reading my very first original FF story. I know it's a lot of work but I did my best to create a dark, and serious story about the characters getting caught in the struggles of war and political conflict between the two kingdoms. Though, I'm happy that I get to tell the story of how I create it thanks to my extensive knowledge of creating lore and worlds. Apparently, creating an original Final Fantasy world was pretty easy to get started but hard to make it into reality. And when I say that, I had to make the setting and themes just right. Now, I'll try to create my own Q&A on how I made this story, characters, world, and many more. And I'll provide a lot of character information as well. So, let's begin.
[Q1: Why is the protagonist being "Isekai'd" for? Isn't it overused?]
Overused? Are you nuts? The reason why I wanted to create a character that has been whisked away to another world is an exciting concept. Sure people have gotten tired of those genres. Happens in light novels, mangas, animes, and much more. And the protagonist I made, Luke Nowotny, is supposed to be "You are that player adventuring into a new RPG game." but in a more realistic way. Sure, he has amnesia but I just can't reveal it just yet. I want to make sure that Luke gets enough character development he needs so he can be a fleshed out character. After all, he's just a person trying to live a new life while dealing with the war between two kingdoms.
[Q2: What made you create the world of Erthesia? How did it come to be?]
It all started when my friends who were holding an D&D session and the dungeon master wanted to do an FFXIV-themed adventure where we started off fighting Ifrit. It was fun but at least it worked well. One of my friends told me that I should try making my own FF world through lore and world building. Plus, I even played the Free Trial of FFXIV as well (aside from the jokes about Lv 60 and Heavensward.) which was a great game to have an experience with. So, that led me to create a FF world of my own vision. Thus, Erthesia is made.
[Q3: What was your inspiration to create the world and themes? FF-wise.]
The world and themes of Apocrypha are heavily based on Final Fantasy XII and XVI. So pretty much two combined into one. Ivalice Fantasy and Medieval Fantasy. I enjoyed FFXII The Zodiac Age more because of how great the story can be because… y'know, it's Ivalice. Magic is commonplace here in Erthesia so there's airships and all. However, even though this volume focuses on the war in Erthesia. There is a land in the far west called Ivalice. But it is not the Ivalice you know but I can't tell you the details yet.
[Q4: Why the dark and gritty themes about war?]
Final Fantasy Tactics (Original) and Final Fantasy XII did a great job on telling the story about wars, betrayal, and loss. And I want to replicate it and give it a feel that yeah, people are dying in a war because some wanted to escape. Which is why I want the story to be all about war and conflict. Each character I made will have personal problems that affected them after Woldredna's army took over in some places. What is their motive? What is their vendetta? Why are they fixated on revenge? Do they hate them? That's the reason why I want to explore the war-torn Erthesia the way I see it. Sure, there is violence everywhere and that's how it is for my theme. But not only the main theme is about war. The other theme puts the focus on Luke's self-discovery and his role as the Warrior of Light yet he doubts it.
[Q5: Why is this story in the FFXIV Section? Isn't this your own original FF Story?]
Yes. But, I made some double checks to see if the "Final Fantasy" section is there. But sadly, there is not but many roman numerals and spin-offs. However, I've already made my choice that this story is a world different from XIV. Sure, Versus XIII did that until it's demise. But there are characters and races brought from XIV to here. Plus, the title will have a meaning behind it even though both Erthesia and Eorzea feels similar but different. But both are connected in some way. Please don't take this in a misleading way. Thanks.
[Q6: Lastly, Why in volumes?]
Because it's easier that way. Making a chapter in this volume will take time and it's not easy to create. I sometimes get lazy and do nothing. But I keep slacking off as usual but it is what it is. But if I do get motivated. I have to keep thinking and make the chapter done right. Again, this is the first volume. And if Volume 2 ever comes out. I say next year or two.
Alright, that's it for today. I may be working on my second chapter or I'm not. Again, please keep your expectations low because they take time. There are other characters that still need to be introduced. Some familiar, some new. Anyways, that concludes it here. I'll provide the character info of who they are and also the world of Erthesia. Fare thee well!

The Kingdom's grand capital Planchard is built around the overlooking mountains. However, the Kingdom is forever blessed with their own crystal that gifts this very land itself. The people happily take advantage of this, living in comfort and security under the watchful gaze of the Grand Monarchy. That peace doesn't seem to last as they were once threatened by their neighboring kingdom of Woldredna who seeks to invade and pillage through any means necessary.
[Woldredna Kingdom]
Ruler: Quinten vas Zelago
Races: Hymun

They consist of various tribes that live within the forests and jungles to remain hidden, cutting off the outside world entirely. The Viera race came from the faraway lands far from Erthesia known as Ivalice. However, most Vieras consist of females onlys and male Vieras "do not exist". Bounded by the code known as the "Green Word". In which they are to protect their villages from outsiders. Those who break the codes are threatened with exile. While some but most Vieras have broken the code to be exiled in exchange for freedom and exploration to choose their city names to start their new lives in Erthesia.
[Lalafell]
Types: Plainsfolk, Dunesfolk
Info: The Lalafells are a diminutive race from seas south of Erthesia. They possess child-like appearances and cheerful attitudes. But some Lalafells aren't cheerful as they resort to doing evil things in such matters. Due to their small size, they can be considered as potatoes… according to what historians know about it.
[Vulpara]
Types: Kindreds of Plainwalkers, Searchers of Dunestriders

[Kazdrak]
Types: Raza, Xelus
Info: The Kazdrak are a superficially dragon-like race with horns, scales, and tails. However, they are descended from dragons. This has long been disputed, with scholars citing distinct differences between the two as evidence against this. Nowadays, they can be seen in most populated cities.
