![]() Author has written 1 story for Lord of the Rings. Favorite Stories: I am extraordinary picky where fanfiction is concerned. These stories are simply masterpieces and far better than anything I could ever hope to piece together. If you want a great story please consider reading these which are my current absolute favorites of each fandom I read: Skin Deep by Epilachna (The Hobbit) https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9964619/1/Skin-Deep Hells of Iron by Gwedhiel (The Silmarillion) https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9270412/1/Weep-and-Be-Burned Bound to Him by georgesgurl117 (Harry Potter) https://www.fanfiction.net/s/7170435/1/Bound-to-Him Halls of My Home by Mirrordance (Lord of the Rings) https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12891688/1/The-Halls-of-My-Home I also would suggest reading The Condensed Silmarillion by cheekybeak. httrps://www.fanfiction.net/s/10874538/1/The-Condensed-Silmarillion It is genuinely funny and also explains soooooo many important things that helped shape the history of Middle Earth. If you are one of those unfortunate people who find the book dry and boring I would read this story...it is anything but! Favorite Fandoms & Characters: I ONLY read fanfiction from the following fandoms: Harry Potter- LOVE Snape and all things Slytherin...and I do admit SS/HG ships are a guilty pleasure of mine! The Lord of the Rings The Hobbit The Silmarillion In a Middle Earth setting I LOVE LOVE LOVE Elves!! My ABSOLUTE favorite is Makalaurë (Maglor) though Maitimo, (Maedhros), Fingolfin and Thranduil are close seconds...and of course I adore Huan! Fëanáro is probably the Elf I most love to (sometimes) hate! I have had complicated feelings about his character for several years. One on hand he annoys me and I want to throttle him espeically when he treated his half siblings like shit and on the other hand I feel sorry for him. So I guess I don't hate him after all. I pretty much don't like Maeglin at all and find him nearly as big of a creep/weirdo as his father, Eöl. Both of them...gross. I wasn't a bit disaapointed when those two met their sticky ends! Pet Peeves These are just personal grievances and annoyances of mine and are not directed at any one person, and please consider this before asking me to beta a story to just prevent any unnecessary upset: 1. Using the Sindar versions of names for Noldor Elves, especially if the story takes place in Aman or during The Years of Trees...I tend to use each Elf's mother name...mainly because of Finwë & Fëanáro's HUGE egos and they just had to put "Finwë" in everyone's name: Nolofinwë ...Kanafinwë...Curufinwë...Nelyafinwë...AAAAAND because Fëanáro and Nerdanel chose to have 7 sons it helps to keep them straight by using their Amilessë (mother name). 2. I HATE to see modern day vernacular in anything Tolkien Universe...especially if it is something adolescents frequently use. 3. I HATE to see stories that are sooooooo good and then are abandoned! It's so unfair! 4. Oropher or Thranduil portrayed as a tyrant...soooo not true! 5. Maitimo as abusive to Elrond and Elros...sure the poor ellon probably suffered some form of PTSD but he wasn't EVIL! 6. Celeborn portrayed as completely submissive to his wife and having no will of his own. 7. ALL hobbits characterized as hairy footed children or ONLY having the purpose of being comic relief. 8. Giggly fan girls/boys that are clearly self inserts into stories...I realise that we all would love to live in Middle Earth or to attend Hogwarts and take part in these stories that are so dear and real to us...but I seriously can not stomach Mary Sues. 9. Slash used as porn without plot. 10. The events of the First Age of Middle Earth completely disregarded or overlooked! I am EXTREMELY picky about fanfiction, especially that of Middle Earth. I am a stickler for following "The Laws and Customs Among the Eldar" so fics that involve Elvish orgies, rape, infidelity, mpreg or any other nonsense are out of the question. I strive to keep my characters relatively "Elvish" as Tolkien has laid the framework for us. That's not to say that every once and a while a really good AU will come along! When I review I try to be constructive with criticism as I would want someone to do with me. My intent is ALWAYS to help someone become a better writer and to deepen their understanding of Middle Earth and the wonderful characters that live there. I'm not trying to be arrogant or unkind when I review because I know my writing is no where near perfect and that there is always room for improvement. With that being said after I left several reviews citing LACE I was asked what that is and since I always use it as a guide as I write my stories I will summarize it here: THE LAWS AND CUSTOMS AMONG THE ELDAR or (LACE) LACE is an essay that Tolkien wrote about his Elves and can be found in "Morgoth's Ring". Some of the main things that he tells us is that: Elves are born 1 year after they are conceived and that is the date that is celebrated, not the actual day that he or she is born. Elves come of age at 50 and are considered fully adults at 100. Unlike Men, Elves are ageless. Elves have few children which they prefer to have in times of peace. Fëanor had the most with 7 sons. Elves love and treasure their elflings. They say there were "given children". Families share close bonds of mind and soul. There are no unexpected or surprise pregnancies. It took will from both parties to conceive. Elves are immortal but can die from injury or die from grief/weariness. They can recover from wounds that can kill mortals. Elves marry ONCE and for love. There are no divorces, arranged marriages, etc. Monogamy is practiced so infidelity is out of the question. Marriage to Elves is sacred and cherished. It is a union of love and of souls. Because of this when one spouse dies they are still married because the fëa of the deceased is in The Halls of Waiting with Námo. The deceased Elf still exists...just not in ME. They will be reunited again, in Valinor should Námo allow rebirth. This is why widows/widowers DO NOT REMARRY someone else just because their spouse dies. The only Elves to die and return to ME are Lúthien (though she came back as a mortal) and Glorfindel. Elvish sex: Sex=marriage so there is no premarital sex or infidelity (as mentioned above) Sex is viewed as private and intimate. There is no rape/sexual assault. If this were to occur fëa (spirit) of the Elf would flee the body. Elves can determine if another is wed or unwed by sight or the sound of their voice. With that being said I have received a few IM's from people asking me to consider writing about different plots and characters. I am flattered! However, I will NEVER write a story or beta a story that includes: Crossover from other fandoms (I know I couldn't do it well...just not where my strengths are. Kudos to those of you who can.) Rape/sexual abuse/incest (I like a good torture/angst fic but this is way too dark for me besides I only write Elvish stories so where this to occur they would die and the story would be over.) Mpreg...biologically I do not understand how that would even work...like seriously how would the fetus even be born especially in a ME setting where there is no modern medicine? I have never seen it portrayed realistically. I would much rather read about same sex couples adopting children for the simple fact that makes sense and 2. if Legolas and Glorfindel had a child together he or she would be far too beautiful to behold. Slash is fine but only when done well as does not resemble a hormonal, pubescent fan boy/girl 50 Shades fantasy. I find it very disrespectful and immature to use slash as porn without plot. Same sex couples love each other and have the same relationship issues that heterosexual couples have. I like to read slash stories that treat the relationship in the same manner a heterosexual relationship is written and not as something put on exhibit. I tend to see Elves more as pansexual. My personal veiw is that they would be fëar mates and would love the fëa more than the vessel that houses it (the body). So I think among the Eldar homosexuality would be common and socially acceptable. I not sure if I would ever write a slash story or not. But it would definitely involve characters who were not married in canon. For instance, Elrond is married to Celebrían so I would never pair him with Glorfindel or anyone for that matter because LACE forbids it! These Visions of You by Mirrordance is an excellent example of well written slash involving Glorfindel and Legolas. Humor/crackfic (I am a cynical and snarky person by nature...this genre is just not for me and I would probably make a complete ass out of myself in any attempt to do so!) Anything EXTREMELY non-canon. I think AU is good and serves a purpose and helps us expand our imaginations. But if the character/setting/plot COMPLETELY departs from and does not even closely resemble canon I can't do it! Anything that contains a character who is remotely Mary Sue-ish! This is a BIG pet peeve of mine! I will also NEVER write a girl falls in to ME, modern day, 10th Walker or Severitius story. | |||||||
