Rin woke up in the middle of the night from an interesting dream. One where she was back in Konoha with Tenten, her father, and Obito. The three of them were sitting by the small dining table, Obito and Tenten teasing one another as her father watched and laughed. Rin had been preparing dinner, laughing as Tenten made fun of Obito's inability to name every single piece of weapon in the ninja world.
The dream ended the moment she opened her eyes, staring at the ceiling for a few seconds before realizing that she wasn't in her own bedroom.
"Oh shoot," she whispered, sitting up quickly and glancing down at the male lying half naked next to her.
Anyone else looking at the situation would have thought that something inappropriate had happened between the two of them. But in reality, Rin had accidentally fallen asleep on his bed. And Obito most likely didn't care, and laid next to her. There was about five inches of space between them, and Rin stared at his features for a moment. They had spent hours talking about how to make a better Konoha, the first step being removing Danzo and re-establishing the ANBU program. Somewhere in their conversation, she had laid down on his bed and fallen asleep.
Sighing, Rin got off the bed. A hand grabbed her wrist, and she nearly screamed in fright.
"Where are you going?" asked a tired Obito.
She turned to him and smiled. "I should get back to my own bed. I have to wake up early to help prepare breakfast. Sorry for waking you up,"
"It's fine. Let me walk you back,"
"No, it's OK! I know my way back. Besides, you have a mission tomorrow, right? You need more rest than me,"
Obito smiled at her, his hand moving from her wrist to her hand. "Come back tomorrow night,"
"Only if I have time and the opportunity,"
"I'll call for you then,"
"OK," she replied, her face becoming warm. She said goodbye to him and quietly exited his bedroom, swiftly rushing back to her quarters. She hoped that her two roommates were asleep and wouldn't ask her questions in the morning.
As she took a turn and entered the servant's quarters, she didn't notice the several pairs of bright red eyes watching her.
XxXxX
"Where were you last night?" Rin turned around to find one of her roommates looking at her with a raised eyebrow. "I heard you come in late,"
Rin tried her best to find a good answer, her brown eyes glancing at Laila. The other female was nearly glaring at her.
"I took a walk," she lied, "I wasn't sleepy, so I decided to take a walk and become more familiar with the village,"
Her roommate simply nodded before turning her attention back to the frying eggs. Rin resumed making tea, pretending that Laila's hard gaze wasn't bothering her at all.
Half an hour later, breakfast was ready and they headed towards the large dining area with trays in hand. They entered the room as the Uchihas wrapped their conversation. Rin glanced at Obito with a smile, and he returned one back. She wondered what their evening would be like later today.
Laila placed the tray in front of him first, and Rin awkwardly placed the tray in front of Shisui. She didn't miss the way Laila asked Obito if he needed anything else while placing a hand on his shoulder. And Obito replied with a simple no. Rin and Obito made brief eye contact before she left.
Back in the kitchen, Rin started washing the dirty pots. There was a light tap on her shoulder, and she turned around to find Laila standing right behind her.
"You will be cleaning the horse stables today,"
Rin's eyebrows raised. "All by myself?"
"Yes,"
"Won't I be needed here to help prepare lunch-"
"No,"
"Shouldn't we check with Chizu first?"
"Not needed. She's not feeling well today, so I'm in charge. So go to the stables now,"
Rin tried her best not to roll her eyes before putting the sponge down and taking off the apron. Laila dropped an empty bucket in front of her, and the brown-haired girl picked it up and headed towards the horses.
Meanwhile in Konoha…
Tenten imagined herself being one of the strongest ANBU soldiers out there. She had the speed and precision required for the job. And even though she wasn't an adult yet, Tenten made sure to always keep her skills sharp. Some day, the people of Konoha would rise up and take Danzo down. And when that happened, she would be there to lead the charge.
There was a low whistle, and she looked down to find an ANBU soldier walking behind two girls. Tenten immediately recognized who they were; Sakura and Ino. The teenagers were holding hands in fear while swiftly walking away from the man, who looked well in his thirties.
"Let me see what's in that bag!" the man demanded, and both teenagers froze.
Ino looked at Sakura worryingly, and the pink-haired girl turned around to the man.
"We just got a few supplies from the pharmacy," Sakura replied, showing no emotion to the man. Ino looked away, as the man's expression creeped her out.
"Let me see it," he said with a smirk, and Sakura opened the bag and held it towards him.
He reached inside and pulled a small pink box out, laughing before throwing it back at them. "Pads? Oh, you girls started bleeding already?! You know what that means, right?"
He touched Sakura's pink hair, and the girl pulled back immediately. The ANBU soldier raised an eyebrow and took a step forward. Tenten quietly leaped off the tree swiftly.
"How old are you?" he asked, and neither Ino or Sakura answered.
Ino wrapped her arm around Sakura's and pulled her back. "Sakura, let's go please,"
The soldier grabbed Sakura's other arm and pulled her towards him, smirking as her body touched his. He grabbed her jaw while looking down at her.
"Let go of me," she tried to push him off, and Ino attempted to help.
But the soldier grabbed the blond-haired teenager by her hair and threw her onto the ground. He then focused his attention on Sakura, his face getting closer to her.
"Now why don't you come here and give me a kiss-UGH!"
The man's eyes widened and his body froze. Sakura watched him confusingly as blood began to drip from the corner of his mouth. He let go of her and took two steps back before turning around and glaring at the brunette.
"You fucking...little bitch!"
The ANBU charged at her, but Tenten immediately ducked and kicked a kunai into his throat. The soldier collapsed onto the ground as his hand touched the weapon lodged into throat, gasping for air as blood oozed from his neck. He looked up at Tenten, his eyes pleading for mercy. But the brown-haired girl gave no mercy as she kicked the kunai further into his neck. His body spasmed for a bit before lying still, his last breath of life escaping from his lips.
Ino stood from the ground with a shocked look. "Oh my god… oh my God… Is he dead?!"
"Yup," Tenten replied.
"Wh-What are we going to do?"
"We're going to burn his body until there's nothing but ashes,"
"What!? Are you crazy? We should tell someone-"
Tenten shook her head at her, "Are you crazy!? We can't trust everyone here,"
Ino was going to say something, but Sakura interrupted. "Tenten's right. We need to burn his body and bury it,"
"Help me hide his body first,"
Tenten grabbed the man's feet while Sakura grabbed one arm. The pink-haired girl turned to her blond best friend. "Come here and help us!"
Taking a deep breath, Ino grabbed the other arm and the trio dragged the man's body deep into the woods.
Rin's back and shoulders ached as she finished cleaning the stables. Her entire body smelled like horse feces, and one of the horses had nearly kicked her in the face.
It was past evening, way past dinner time. And tiredly, Rin walked back to the servant's quarters. She thought about Obito, and figured that someone else probably brought him dinner by now. Probably Laila. And Rin wasn't dumb. She knew why Laila had her working in the stables the entire day. The stables held at least twenty horses, and getting those horses not to attack as she cleaned their area took a lot of time. And while she was busy cleaning that, she imagined Laila trying to flirt with Obito. Would Obito flirt back?
"Rin?"
The brunette turned around to find the male Uchiha standing behind her. He was dressed in the typical male Uchiha attire.
"Obito? What are you doing here?"
He hesitated for a bit, rubbing the back of his head. "It's late… and I wanted to make sure you were OK. I was told you were here,"
She smiled, "Aside from smelling like a horse, I'm fine. Did you want me to bring you dinner?"
"That's not necessary. I had dinner with Itachi and Fugaku today," he paused for a moment, "I'm assuming you haven't eaten?"
She shook her head, "No. Those horses wouldn't stay still and… Anyway, it doesn't matter! It's all cleaned now. I was just going to take a bath and then go to bed…"
He nodded slowly, "If you're still hungry, we can grab something to eat… after you change,"
Her eyebrows raised, the word 'date' going through her mind. She tried her best not to overly-smile. "But you just ate? You don't have to waste time getting me food. I can grab something from the kitchen,"
"I wouldn't be wasting my time," he told her, and Rin could feel her stomach doing flips. She bit her bottom lip before nodding.
"OK… Are you OK with waiting maybe...thirty minutes?"
Obito nodded, "I'll wait for you right here,"
She gave him a nod before rushing inside the servant's headquarters, taking off her clothes the moment she went inside the bathroom. The large area was empty, and she got inside the bathtub immediately. Grabbing the bar of soap, she scrubbed her entire body and hair multiple times. She mentally cursed the horses and Laila. After ten minutes of heavy scrubbing (and making sure that the horse smell was gone), Rin wrapped a towel around her body and entered her shared bedroom. She looked at the few clothes she owned, and sighed. They had only given her five more outfits, and none of them were beautiful enough.
"Do you want to borrow one of my dresses?"
Rin turned around to find one of her roommates, Mai, smiling at her.
"People have been gossiping about the two of you," Mai added, "And we noticed him standing outside…"
"You don't have to,"
Mai shrugged, "It's no big deal for me. Besides, you always get assigned the dirty work none of us want,"
Rin smiled, "Thanks,"
Mai took out a pink dress, and Rin put it on. Her and Mai had nearly the same body type; the only exception being the chest area. Mai had smaller breasts, so the dress showed off her cleavage very well. It also reached her knees, the skirt flowing freely.
"You look good," Mai said, "I can already see Laila's face getting red with fury!"
Rin laughed, "I have a feeling she's going to make me scrub the floors tomorrow if she sees me right now…"
"Don't let her frighten you. She's been trying to get Obito's attention for a year now,"
'So Laila really does have a thing for Obito…'
"Anyway, he looks lonely out there. You should go out there before Laila tries anything,"
"Thank you,"
Taking a deep breath, Rin finished getting prepared and exited the room.
The night was chilly, and the dress wasn't helping with keeping her warm. She approached Obito, whose eyes widened the moment he saw her. Those dark eyes travelled from her face to her feet, and all of the way back up.
"You look….beautiful,"
"Thanks! It belongs to one of my roommates. So...where are we going?"
His dark eyes turned red, his signature marking swirling within his eyes. Rin found them fascinating.
"Nearby village," he replied, taking a step closer to her.
She remembered how he teleported before, and braced herself as the wind became heavier. She felt her body rise just as things turned blurry, and she closed her eyes and bit her lip to keep her from screaming. Seconds later, they were somewhere else. She felt as if she had no control of her body, and she ended up hitting something hard. She later realized that she had crashed against Obito's chest.
"Sorry!" she apologized, standing up straight and giving him some space.
"It's fine. I should've realized that you wouldn't be used to that…"
"How does it not make you dizzy?"
He shrugged, "I got used to it from a young age. Come, you must be hungry,"
Oh, she was very hungry. The horses ate more than her in one day.
They walked side by side throughout the small village, and Rin was amazed at how open and friendly everything was. She considered that this is what Konoha should be. There were families walking around freely, children running everywhere while playing. There were teen girls teasing each other, and Rin imagined Tenten amongst them. Even though Tenten wasn't the "girly" type. Rin remembered the times she struggled in getting Tenten to wear a dress.
"You're smiling,"
"Huh?" Rin asked, looking up at Obito. "Sorry, I was just thinking about my sister and how happy she would be here, even though she wouldn't be gossiping like those girls. She'll probably be running around practicing her aim,"
"So Tenten's the opposite of you?"
Rin nodded, "Yup. Raising her wasn't easy, especially when things became stricter. She would get herself in trouble, and I would have to get her out of it,"
Obito chuckled, "Seems like she kept you busy,"
Rin sighed, "You have no idea…"
He took her to a small shop, the name Ichiraku Ramen printed in front. An older man greeted them, his eyes on Obito.
"Obito, you're back! And who is this pretty girl you're bringing?"
"Hi Teuchi, this is Rin,"
"Welcome to my ramen shop, Rin! What would you like to eat?"
She looked at the menu items, which weren't many. But she didn't mind, and she selected the first thing on the menu.
"Great choice!" Teuchi said, "I'll have it right out in no time,"
Rin and Obito sat on the stools.
"I guess you're not hungry?"
He shook his head, "No,"
"We can take the ramen home then? You must be tired-"
"No, it's fine," Obito clarified, "This night is for you,"
Her pork ramen arrived, and she thanked Teuchi for it before taking a bite. She nearly moaned at the taste.
"This is so good! I've never had ramen this tasty,"
"Glad you like it. I usually come here every two weeks,"
"What is this village? Seems very small…"
"It is. Not many residents live here. This place was established a couple of months ago. I don't think it ever got a name,"
"I wouldn't be surprised if some of the residents here came from Konoha,"
She nearly finished the entire bowl of ramen, and Obito paid Teuchi as they headed out.
Considering the village was very small, there was not much to see. So Obito took them to the top of the mountains, where they could see the stars and moon better. Careful not to rip the dress, Rin sat on a large boulder. Obito sat next to her, watching her from the corner of his eyes. She was trembling a bit, and he shifted closer to her.
"Cold?"
"Y-Yeah… But this is so beautiful! You really do know how to pick the best spots,"
He smiled, "Whenever I go on missions, I always seek out places like this. It makes me realize how beautiful our nation can be if they were together,"
"The more reason for you to become Hokage then," she said.
"I don't even know where to begin,"
"But you have a vision of how you want all of this to be like, right?"
"Yeah…" he said, looking at her. His vision would consist of them being together without any boundaries. Her sister and father would be with them.
"Then let's start backwards. I think one of the things we need to do is...understand how and why our villages split,"
"My clan left because of segregation,"
"More clans nowadays are leaving," she said, "It may have started with the Uchihas, but now more people are escaping. I think one thing your clan, or you, can do is welcome people to your village. It'll help grow the support for your clan, and also help eliminate the fear,"
"My clan can be close minded at times," he admitted, and that didn't really surprise her, "They worry that any foreigner coming in can be a spy in order to steal our family's secrets,"
"I can understand the importance of keeping your clan's secrecy, but maybe you can figure out a way where those coming in can feel welcome and like they're part of your village. Word gets back to Konoha pretty fast somehow… and if people know that there's somewhere safer for them to live in, they'll leave,"
"That's going to be a hard sale for my clan," Obito said.
"Then I would challenge them on how they see the future for clansmen. I would ask them what they want… Or are they OK with living the way they currently do now?"
Obito slowly nodded, "You do have a point about that. This divide still affects us. Our original home is back in Konoha. Many of our ancestral scrolls and artifacts are still there, hidden,"
"I know it'll take time to convince your clan about all of this…"
"...But it's better to start now than later," he finished for her, and Rin nodded.
Another gust of wind had her shivering, and she rubbed her bare arms. Obito placed his arm around her while moving closer, offering his body heat to her.
"Thanks," she said, still looking at the stars, "This is really amazing,"
They remained quiet afterwards, feeling peaceful and happy in each other's company. And while Rin stared at the bright lights of the village down below, Obito analyzed her beauty under the shining stars. He loved the way she felt in his arms, the way she would smile at him and encourage him to do more.
Her yawn interrupted his thoughts, and she turned her head to him. Obito's eyes immediately went to her lips.
"Is it OK if we go back? I'm tired, and I know they're going to have me working hard again tomorrow,"
Obito nodded, his Sharingan activating. He wanted to take things a little further tonight, but at the same time didn't want to rush things through.
Rin closed her eyes and braced herself for the strange dizzy feeling that was about to happen. The wind around them picked up, and Rin felt her body weightless for a few seconds. The air around them became warmer, and she felt her body pressed against his with his arm around her. Opening her eyes, she looked around and noticed how they were standing just a few feet away from the servants' housing.
"Does everyone in your family have this ability?"
"No," he replied, "Our abilities are unique to our eyes,"
"Yours is pretty cool… Being able to teleport from one place to another. Have you ever thought about going far?"
"I have. And I've travelled to Konoha a few times when I was younger,"
Rin's eyes widened, "You have?! I'm guessing you never got caught…"
"Fugaku knew about it. But aside from him, I've never been caught,"
"That's really cool. You're pretty much invincible," she said with a yawn, her eyes closing, "I should get going. I'll...see you tomorrow?"
Obito nodded, contemplating on pulling a move. He felt very unprepared for this, and knew that he needed more interactions with her in order to feel confident enough to at least kiss her.
Rin waved at him before heading inside the house, and Obito watched at how her hair flowed around her neck and the skirt of the dress swayed freely around her knees. He allowed his mind to wonder for a moment, thinking about their life as a couple. He would take her out to dinner again tomorrow, and take her to a small theater in another village. And then they'll take a walk, and he'll take the opportunity and tell her how he feels.
Obito smiled to himself, feeling confident with his plan.
Ino threw up, dropping the shovel on the ground as her hands went to her stomach. She avoided turning around as Tenten and Sakura rolled the dead man's body into a large hole they had just dug. Her body flinched at the sound the body made upon falling deeper into the Earth.
"Ino, come over and help us," said Sakura, as she and Tenten began to refill the hole.
"I don't think I can,"
"You have to! The quicker you help us, the sooner we'll be done,"
Picking up her shovel, Ino slowly walked over to them and resumed to help; all while thinking about what she'll tell her father the moment he finds out that she was involved in the death of an ANBU.
