Epilogue

Mamoru smiled as he listened to Usagi tell Makoto for the thousandth time she was beautiful. Her dress was a variation of her Princess dress and so were her heels. Her hair was in the usual ponytail, but it was curled. Her pink rose earrings had been replaced with silver filigree earrings containing pink diamond shaped gems and green teardrop shaped gemstones trailing up her ears, giving her, in his opinion, an elven princess look. Of course, he didn't dare tell her that. Getting punched in the face once was enough. The other senshi wore a variation of their princess dresses, while the shitennou wore grey suits, he wore a dark grey suit, and Motoki wore a black tuxedo.

The banquet hall had been decorated in various shades of pinks and greens. The curtains for the windows were white and tied back with bows that were a soft blush pink. In the center of each bow was a sage colored dot. From a distance, they looked like pink bows with green circles in the center, but up close, you saw the green circles were painted with thin lines to look like turtle shells. The tablecloths were white, half of the glasses had pale pink bows tied to the stems and the other half had pale green bows, but all of them had roses and vines etched onto them. There was a crystal lotus flower in the center of each table. The chopstick holders were sakura petals and turtles.

The sakura petals were placed at the seats of those with the glasses with pink bows and the turtle chopstick holders were placed at the seats of those with the glasses with green bows. They were alternated so it was green, pink, green, pink. Every table had an even number of seats so two table settings with the same color wouldn't be next to each other.

All eyes were on Mamoru as he stood. Addressing the room, he said. "We are here to celebrate Motoki and Makoto starting a life together." Looking around the room, he said. "There are a lot of turtles..." Everyone chuckled. "…He really likes turtles. I met Motoki several years ago and he's my best friend." He sighed. "I don't have a fancy best man speech or some embarrassing story to tell, but I do wish them all the best." He raised his glass. "I wish you both many years of love and happiness."

As he sat back down, Nephrite said. "No embarrassing stories? At all? Not even one? You didn't even give generic stories."

Mamoru said. "A lot of things we've been through have been related to our powers. I tried to think of something but everything is somehow connected to being superheroes." He took a sip. "We've been through a lot and we've prevailed as we've always done."

They ate, drank, and talked about different things. At first, the conversation was about where the newlyweds were going on their honeymoon, then they talked about Minako's upcoming tour, but then the conversation turned to decorating the house. Everyone choked when Makoto asked Usagi. "Did you ever get rid of that shower curtain with the demonic rabbit on it?"

Usagi nodded. "Mamoru made me get rid of it after it scared Motoki."

Nephrite burst into laughter. "You were scared of a little rabbit?"

Motoki glared. "It wasn't little."

Makoto took a sip of her drink. "No, it wasn't. It was life-sized. He said it was a giant clown rabbit with a toothy grin and demonic eyes that said 'I will eat your soul'."

Motoki said. "Usagi accidentally knocked the paint over while I was walking by and they let me shower there. End of story."

Nephrite noticed the look Mamoru, Usagi, and Makoto shared and said. "That is not the end. I want to hear what happened next."

Mamoru said "I was helping Usagi clean up the mess while Motoki was showering when suddenly we heard a scream." Nephrite and Jadeite doubled over in laughter. Motoki buried his face in his hands. Mamoru said. "Next thing we know, he comes running out of the bathroom, yelling about demonic rabbits. What had happened is the main light went out, leaving just the vanity lights on, but they're very dim. This caused the rabbit to start glowing."

Usagi nodded. "Parts of it were glow in the dark. I thought it would be cute."

Motoki said. "I was facing the wall getting the last of the shampoo out of my hair when the light went out. I turned and there was this glowing demonic rabbit." He glared at Nephrite. "Why are you smiling?"

Nephrite shrugged. "It's funny."

Motoki said. "Keep laughing. You have a wedding coming up."

Nephrite smirked. "You're not my best man."

Motoki shook his head, pointing at Jadeite. "No, but he is." Nephrite looked at Jadeite and the smug grin on his face.

The evening wore on and Nephrite said. "Before we bid farewell to the newlyweds… one more dance."

Motoki shook his head. "If you're talking about that English song, I can't do it."

Nephrite waved his hand in the air. "No problem. When it gets to the lift, Makoto can run to me and I'll lift her up." He grinned at what he thought was a great plan.

Motoki shook his head and was about to protest when Makoto smirked. "Sure. We can do that." She looked over at Motoki and winked. Motoki nodded, understanding what she meant.

As they danced, Nephrite waited for the part where Makoto would run to him. Ikuko stood with Ami, Minako, and Kunzite. Leaning over, Ikuko said. "Nephrite's not going to be doing the lifting is he?"

They shook their heads. Ami said. "I tried to tell him this was a bad idea when he mentioned it earlier, but he wouldn't listen." They watched as the dance continued and when Makoto ran to Nephrite, as predicted, she lifted him and began to spin around. Judging by the look of shock then panic that crossed his face, he was definitely not having the time of his life. Makoto eventually put Nephrite down and being dizzy, he stumbled away, muttering something about spinning around not being part of the dance. She giggled as she took Motoki's hand. They said goodbye to everyone and left for their honeymoon.

Ami went to Nephrite and now that the bride and groom were gone, the guests began slowly leaving. One of their friends approached them and suddenly, piano music filled the air. Ikuko said to the woman. "Sounds like Miryu found the piano." The woman nodded and asked which room the piano was in so she could go get him.

Kunzite shook his head. "I'll go. I have to head that way anyway." Walking to the room with the piano in it, with the first movement of Moonlight Sonata playing, had a very ominous feeling to it. He knew what he would find when he got there. He knew exactly who would be playing and who wouldn't. Zoisite wasn't coming back until after the wedding. At least, that was the plan, but life doesn't always go as planned.

Reaching the room, he stood in the doorway. "Miryu, you're not supposed to be here."

The little boy hung his head as he stopped playing. Looking at Kunzite he asked. "Are you going to tell on me?"

Kunzite chuckled. "You told on yourself. Everyone heard the music. You need to hurry back, your mother is looking for you."

The boy hopped off the piano bench, ran past him and out the door. The boy stopped and turning around, the child waved. "Bye-bye."

Kunzite smiled and waved back. After the boy ran off, he entered the room. The piano was near the window, the fading sunlight shining off of it somehow giving it an ethereal look. Walking to the piano, he sighed as he gently ran his fingers over the keys.

"It really was one of us who went first. Even though I knew you were going to stay away until after the wedding, every time I heard someone playing, I hoped it would be you sitting at the piano. Especially whenever it was that Fantaisie Impromptu you always played… but it wasn't you. It never was. It always annoyed me whenever you played it. Couldn't you have found something else? I was so tired of hearing it. Why did it have to be Fantaisie Impromptu? Now… now I miss hearing it." He looked out the window. "Sometimes when I'm out, I think I hear you, and I think 'that's Zoisite!'" Kunzite frowned. "But It wasn't. It never was. About a week ago, I found a tape of Nephrite's birthday party from several years back and your voice took me by surprise. I couldn't believe it. I've forgotten what your voice sounded like."

"Sometimes, I wonder how you've been doing. What has your life been like? Do you still play the piano? Mamoru said he had been in touch with you and as today neared, I asked if he knew when you planned to rejoin our group." He sighed, looking back at the piano. "That's when he told me what happened..." Kunzite shook his head as he placed his hands on the keyboard cover. "I'm talking to a piano..." Sighing, he gently closed it. "...Sayounara."
