The phone rang, stirring Noll from his sleep. Annoyed, Noll reached for his bedside table. He curled his fingers around the phone and removed it from the receiver. Noll sat up and placed the phone against his ear.
There wasn't an opportunity for Noll to speak before an angry voice boomed in his ear.
Wide awake, Noll held the phone away from his ear.
It was Takigawa, again…
Noll pinched the bridge of his nose and hung up.
As soon as the phone was set on the receiver, it rang again.
Glaring, Noll answered. He wasn't surprised in the least that he was greeted with further shouting over a static connection.
Noll hung up again, and the phone's ringtone blared once more.
Sliding his arm behind the bedside table, Noll disconnected the phone line.
The ringing stopped.
After glancing at the clock, Noll laid down again. He exhaled and closed his eyes in an attempt to get back to sleep.
The phone rang again.
More than irritated, Noll got out of bed.
It appeared he was going to the office far earlier than usual that day.
