Chapter 2 : Goblins
[Mythical Legion Online] is a game that incorporates realism and also wonder. It's main setting is a high fantasy so Players will mostly see monsters from those settings.
One of the staple of these settings are goblins, slimes, orcs, vampires, elves, dragons, etc.
Out of all those monsters, there are some who are known to appear on the starting stages of their world. Depending on what their server generated, the starting monsters that they will encounter will be either slimes, dire wolves, or goblins. If they are unfortunate, then it will be skeletons or zombies.
Currently, Misha is facing one of those monsters. It is a goblin.
Though she is curious about something.
"Why are they in a group!?"
Despite the sense of realism, the company behind this game made sure to balance it. Which means making it so those who are starting will only encounter lone monsters.
Seeing five goblins in a group, and two of them armed with a club is honestly not something she expected. That's not one of the things she reads on the guide.
(Maybe, this is one of the bugs?)
After the problem about the servers, she thinks that she really messes up. She thinks that her game might have some or more bugs because she is hacking one of the most sophisticated games in the history.
She is a genius, but she is not some god who can do things perfectly.
(Well, this doesn't matter!)
She smiled as she saw the goblins noticing her.
It really didn't matter to her. She is a competitive player, and is pretty good at combat. Countless hours of playing VR Games gave her sharp senses and quick reflexes.
So when those goblins were just getting closer to her, she immediately dashed towards them.
She prepped her sword, brandishing it on the first goblin on the front. The goblins are surprised when they saw her rushing at them. Using this to her advantage, she swings her sword squarely at his chest, causing the first goblin to cry out in pain.
She deftly moves to the side and change the direction of her falling sword. She rolled her legs, spinning and using the momentum of her body to slash the other goblin near the first one.
After that display, the other goblins finally snapped out of their shock and roared at her in hate.
Without paying it any mind, she stop her spin and then planted her foot on the ground, her gaze now on the three goblins.
Two of the goblins have clubs in their hands. Despite having weapons, they seem to be letting those who haven't to go first.
The remaining goblin who didn't have any weapons flailed at her way while the two on the back moves around and is seemingly trying to flank her.
She took a stance and when the flailing goblin tries to pounce at her, she took a sidestep and swipe at him with her sword. One of the goblins that she got near at raised his club and tries to smash her with an overhead strike but she deftly dodged it with just a movement of her body, evading it within inches. She uses the momentum of her slash and turned it into the one who attacks her.
That goblin was cut on his neck and the club fell on his hand as he tries to hold onto it. While that is happening, the remaining one screamed at her before turning his back to run away.
Hearing the sound of hurried footsteps going farther, she turned around and saw it running away.
"What!?"
She is surprised seeing the goblin running away. That's not how it is supposed to work!
Normally, monsters won't just run away to low level players. Even if she managed to kill all of it's comrades, there are no morale function on the game so a mob getting scared to her is not something that should have happened.
She looks at the other goblins and see that they are slowly vanishing and becoming her loot.
Awhile ago, she activated the auto-loot function so she won't have to keep taking it and putting it in her inventory. It is one of the convenient functions of VR Games.
After seeing them vanishing into pixels, she turned to the running goblin and started to chase him. She ignored the fanfare indicating her leveling up. She wanted to follow the goblin.
(Well, this is a new NPC behaviour. I think he will go to their spawn point or something?)
She is not even that worried that she will lose him. She have a minimap that will tell her the location of her enemies.
The minimap is a 2D overview of her location. It is still incomplete, and have only covered a few hundred meters starting from where she spawned.
The minimap helps her indicate enemies through dots and other dot designs. Her design is a pointed white indication while the goblin is indicated as a red dot.
She just followed the goblin.
Following the goblin gave her some valuable experiences. The goblin has run on some nearby mobs, which she quickly finishes before moving to chase after him.
Currently, she got to level 3. Her job is currently Jobless, and the maximum level of this job is 10.
After hitting Level 10, she will finally get the chance to change her Job. The Jobs that she can choose are the five basic ones. These are the Warrior, Scout, Villager, Healer, and Mage. Each basic jobs have a total level of 20. After maxing one of them, specialized jobs will be available for that player.
There are no maximum cap, so it is possible to pick all the jobs and level it up. Though it is very difficult to accumulate EXP to level up more jobs, and it exponentially increases everytime one of the jobs levels up.
So from Strategy Guides, it is recommended to pick one job and specialized themselves on it. They should ignore trying to be an all rounder if they want to efficiently play the game.
As for her, she wanted to specialized too but...
(The game is already bugged and it seems like no one is even joining my server. Which means my server is not existent to the public!)
She have heard of Private Servers but this one is different. She can see that she put it on the Public and in fact, she can see that it is a Public Server. So Players not entering it means that no one even sees it.
New Servers are always being flocked by Veteran Players. This is because they can get a lot of new loots and will even try to hoard it all to themselves, leaving the creator of that server with the scraps.
So it is really suspicious that no one is trying get inside hers. The only explanation to that is they can't see it. Just like how she can't see any Public Servers.
(Okay. Let's focus on the goblin first. It seems like he is going to stop soon anyway.)
Her thoughts are like that as she glances at her minimap. The minimap is showing some sort of settlement and a lot of red dots within it.
"This is great! A lot of EXP are gathered in that place! I think I can easily easily maxed out my Jobless level and change Jobs!"
She is excited at this, her eyes glinting in joy. She lick her lips as she brandished her sword.
It is time for her to reap the Goblins (EXP) to level up.
