I just need it to be posted for me not to forget and then I'll just continue it later, okay? I will not delay the other fanfictions because of this one. But that aside, I hope you enjoy and comment what you think about it! Also tell me your suggestions if you have one.

Oliver walked through the bright hallways of the hospital. A thick smell of disinfectant entered his nose as he passed the rooms one by one. Oliver didn't even know why he agreed to this arrangement. He stopped in front of a certain door and read the name printed on it. He took a piece of paper to confirm the name and sighed before thrusting the note back to his pockets. He opened the black notebook in his right hand and took out a photo from it. It's his first time seeing that photo that Madoka slips in.
A picture of a petite woman entered his eyes. Her hair reached her waist as her brown eyes shone with it. Her skin is fair and delicate. Her pink floral dress compliments her skin and figure. She looks weak and fragile like she would be blown away by the wind at any moment. It's his first time seeing this woman but their fate are already connected by the license he held in his hands.
This woman is his newly wedded 'wife'— at least by the law. They had just signed their marriage certificate separately a month ago. Oliver opened the door of the hospital room and entered. A woman sat beside the window, holding a picture of a woman in her lap. Her whole frame was donned with mourning clothes and her sad countenance could make any person want to comfort her. Her face is not as astounding as his and Gene's face but she could be called a beauty. Even with just sitting there, she could attract numerous of attention.
The woman didn't turn her head from the noise of opening and closing doors. She just looked outside the window like she didn't hear someone entering. Different from the photo he just seen, her hair's tied with a low ponytail at this moment. Oliver could see her fair looking neck and had a full sight of her palm sized face. Oliver cleared his throat to attract his attention but the woman didn't move.
"The lady is autistic so you have to be extra careful and patient with her, okay?. And don't scare her."
Oliver suddenly remembered his Mother's warning and sighed for the nth time. Yes, this woman has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). But his mother informed him that she's much better than any other people who had ASD. She can communicate with people who she considered worth talking to. She was raised and cared for by the psychiatrist who just passed away five days ago. Oliver had not seen his 'wife' in the funeral because of her condition.
His mother, Luella, said that this woman was stimulated by her adoptive mother's death and was forced to be sent to the hospital for monitoring. She was just discharged a few hours ago after calming her down for days. As for this marriage. It's arranged by his parents and the doctor who passed away. Oliver have a brother but he was already married to someone so they pushed him to sign the certificate instead.
Luella is friends with the doctor since childhood and agreed to marry his son to her best friend's ward. She also knew this woman is autistic and was a bit reluctant but after a visit, she was completely enamored by her friend's adopted daughter and agreed to the marriage proposal. Besides, Luella was more worried that if she didn't push her 26-year-old son to marry now then he wouldn't marry in this entire lifetime.
And he was here to pick her up and welcome her to his home as his new 'wife'. He was a bit reluctant to come since this is just an arranged marriage. But he forced by his mentor to submit a permission for leave and was kicked out of the office as soon as the permission was granted. He had just married so he needs a leave, as his mentor said.
Then his mother quickly drove him to the hospital and left him with a note telling him the room number and his 'wife''s name. Oliver was sure that her mother is currently redecorating his house at this moment and moving his new 'wife''s things inside. His attention returned to the woman again and went straight to speaking. He didn't care if he ignored her. He can just wait for her to notice him since he had a lot of time in his hands now.
"Excuse me. I am Oliver Davis. I came here to pick you up and bring you to your new home." He informed. His tone is a bit louder than his usual volume.
Oliver noticed the woman flinched and knew that she had heard him. The woman bowed down and look at the picture on her lap. Her lips moved like she was murmuring something and grabbed the bag that was placed beside her feet. She quietly and gently thrust the picture inside the bag. She put on the headphones she got from her bag and stood up from her chair. Oliver watched her walk in front of him but he noticed how that woman didn't even glance at his face.
"Come." Oliver said and turned his back to her.
He started walking out of the room and heard some footsteps behind him. Oliver look back at her once before walking straight to the lift. He waited for the woman to enter before closing the door. She still didn't bother to raise her head to look at him. She just stood a meter away from him and hang her head down. The door opened with a loud ding and Oliver, once again, lead the way. He thought she's following him but he noticed that the footsteps behind him was gone by the time she entered the lobby.
Oliver frowned and turned around. He couldn't see the woman who was tailing after him. His heart skipped a beat and traced back the path he just took. It's dangerous for an ASD patient to roam around without an attendant. She could get lost and would be hurt. She could also be in an argument with someone because of their lack of communication skills. When he spotted that woman, his fears really happened. She stood a few meters away from the lift and was being scolded by some woman.
"Can't you see where you're going?! Look at what you've done to my shirt! I have a meeting for the next 30 minutes and I can't possibly attend it with these ruined clothes! You didn't even apologize to me! Hey! Don't ignore me!" The blonde woman screamed as she pointed a finger. Her face is red from anger and was even distorted when Mai didn't answered and was looking from left to right as if searching for someone.
"Why you little—" The blonde woman was enraged and raised her hand to hit the brunette. But her hand was instead slapped away by someone before her hand even reached the petite woman's delicate face.
"I'll appreciate it if you don't lay a hand on this person." Oliver coldly stated as he intercepted between them.
"Professor Davis!" The blonde woman was shocked to see Oliver's face. She didn't expect a famous professor to be in this hospital.
This loud woman had attracted some people's attention so he can hear murmurs around them. The woman behind him flinched but she docilely stayed behind him without uttering a sound. The blonde seems to know him but Oliver ignored the woman and pulled out some cash from his wallet. He saw the blonde woman watching him dazedly when he gave her the money. Fortunately, the woman reach out to it before his arm went numb.
"That is the compensation for your shirt. I apologize in behalf of this person. She had a condition and she didn't mean to ignore you. I suggest you hurry along and buy yourself a new shirt before your meeting. Goodbye." Oliver said with a straightforward face before pulling the woman away from the scene. It would be problematic if this ASD patients had a breakdown with all these people around them.
Oliver thought she would reject his touch but this 'wife' didn't do anything besides being stiff. He pulled the woman to the exit and immediately hailed a cab once he spotted one. He let her enter first before following her. His hand is still gripping her hand. Oliver told the address to the driver and the journey fell quiet. It was so awkward that even the driver didn't dare to speak up.
Oliver stared at the woman as the latter bowed her head again. She is still not looking at him and didn't took her headphones off. His eyes went to their joined hands and frowned a little. For the first time in the 26 years of his life, he had held a woman's hand. He had touched some women but it's only when they're in danger during cases. And he only grabbed their arms or wrists. It's truly his first time holding a woman's hand beside his mother. He unconsciously squeezed her hand and soon regretted it. Oliver thought she wouldn't noticed since she's immersed in her own little world but he saw her turn her head towards him a few seconds later.
She's not directly looking at his eyes but her eyes are still on him. Oliver was a bit surprised that he had unconsciously captured this woman's attention even without saying something. His 'wife' stared at him like she's waiting for him to speak up. And it was rare for someone with ASD to wait for a person to speak. This means, this woman wants to communicate with him because she had noticed him! Oliver was dumbfounded by the answers his brain gave him.
"What's.. your name?" He hesitantly asked. He wasn't sure if this woman really noticed him or she just casually turned her head to him. The woman blinked her eyes before opening her mouth to answer.
"Mai Taniyama." She bluntly answered. It took her 15 seconds to answer his simple question. Oliver almost gave up and deem it as a coincidence.
It was Oliver's first time to hear her voice and it was quite pleasant to her. She said it in a sing-song tone with her soft and mellow voice. Other might think it's weird tone to use but this is completely normal for someone with autism. Some patients have a monotone voice while some said words in a sing-song way like this woman.
"Do you know my name?" Oliver asked again.
He patiently waited for her talk and this time, it took her 10 seconds to respond but she did not talk. She just nodded at him before turning her head to the side to look through the window. This means she didn't want to talk.
Oliver was ignored yet again but he was feeling a bit satisfied that he managed to talk to her on their first day of meeting. He's still a bit resistant on accepting this woman, Mai, as his 'wife' but deep inside his heart, he admit that it's okay to let her stay by his side. She's not clingy like those girls who were introduced to him in his previously forced blind dates.
They arrived at an apartment building and went inside after paying the cab. Oliver is still holding Mai's hand as they entered the lift. The people who frequently shared a lift with stared at him in shocked when he entered with a woman beside him. They had been living in the same apartment building for years but they had never seen him bring a woman before. He's also cold and wouldn't socialize with them so they thought he's single and gay but now there's a woman!
Oliver ignored the stares and immediately pulled Mai out after arriving to the 17th floor. Walking to the furthest door to the west, they stopped as Oliver entered the password. They entered and saw Luella coming out of the guest room.
"Oh my! You're here already! That's sooner than I though—" Luella energetically greeted them and smiled but stopped when she saw them holding hands.
She was loss for words. She had seen Mai for a few times but she always ignored her but she had met Oliver for the first time and she already let him touch her?! Luella remembered the suggestion her friend performed on Mai and stared at their hands.
"It seems like the suggestion worked." Luella said out loud making Oliver confused. Mai look around and let go of Oliver's hand. Luella noticed her looking around and returned the smile on her face.
"Mai dear, the second room to the right is your bedroom. You can look around and tell me what you don't like. I can fix it for you, okay?" Luella said but Mai ignored what she had said and do her own thing.
"Mother, what do you mean about the suggestion?" Oliver asked as they walk towards the kitchen.
"Lily Taniyama, my friend, performed a suggestion on her before she died. She told Mai to follow all of your orders if she's not around." Luella answered as she poured herself a cup of tea.
"I honestly told her it was a bad idea but I think it's okay since she didn't reject or break out after you touched her. She would usually wipe her body down after touching someone else other than her adoptive mother." She continued.
"So you want me to take care of her in place of Dr. Taniyama? Mother, you knew I can't be always by her side. I have work to do and it's dangerous for her to be left alone." Oliver said but his mum just glared at him.
" Mai can cook herself a meal and could take care of herself alone. She also didn't want to go outside so you don't have to worry about her wandering. You just need to get off your work on time and accompany her. And it's not forbidden to take her to the HQ. Mai won't be a bother to you since she's usually quiet." Luella shot him down whe glaring at him.
"And you agreed to sign that license. You're married now. You should not neglect her and remember to always make her happy. After Lily's passing, you're the only one for her now. Don't worry. Your father and I will be with you."
Oliver sighed and questioned himself again on why did he ever signed that marriage certificate a month ago. He thought he just want to get rid of the topic of having a girlfriend and her mother's pestering. He didn't expected that he'll be burdened after he made that rash decision of signing that paper! He looked through the kitchen door and saw Mai entering his bedroom.
"Mum, why did you arranged us to sleep in the same bedroom?" Oliver asked making her mother smirked.
"Well, you're married. You should sleep in the same room. Besides you only have 4 rooms in this apartment and all of them are occupied. The first one is the music room, the other one is your study and the last one is the art room. See? You have no choice but to sleep in one room."
"I have two free rooms, why do you have to transform it into a music and art room?" Oliver asked with an exasperated sigh.
"Don't you know that Mai is an art prodigy? The lowest price of her paintings is 50,000 USD! We have to nurture her talent or else Lily would haunt me! She also likes music so I ordered a grand piano and other instruments for her to play."
"Mum..."
"Those instruments will come tomorrow. I already fixed the art room but I still didn't unpacked her clothes. Make sure to help her unpack. I'll come back tomorrow to help with the changes! Bye, son!" Luella said and kissed her son on the cheek.
Oliver wanted to complain but Luella already went to the bedroom and bid Mai goodbyes but he didn't hear her mother's voice talking to Mai. Oliver thought Mai was just ignoring her and went to wash the cups on the sink. He had a dishwasher but he felt like washing the cups. Then he heard his apartment door opening and closing after a few seconds.
Oliver went to the music room and saw nothing inside. It was usually dusty since he never really gone inside but it's now clean and there's no dusts around. All rooms in his apartment are also soundproof so there would be no problem if they installed a music room here. He walked towards the art room and saw paints, canvases, pens, papers and colours arranged in a tidy manner. It was also strictly organized that it was so satisfying to see.
Oliver closed the art room and silently opened his bedroom door. There are three suitcases beside his head and on his bed laid the sleeping Mai. Her eyes are closed as her hand laid beside her hips. She's quietly sleeping peacefully. Oliver now understood why his mother didn't speak when she went to this room. She didn't want to disturb her nap. Oliver stared at Mai's sleeping face and was drown on it. He keeping on thinking how her face is very pleasant to his eyes. Oliver almost slapped himself after realising his thought and distract his mind by grabbing the suitcases.
He opened it and arranged her clothes in his wardrobe. His clothes are on the left side while hers was on the right side. His wardrobe is large anyway. Their clothes fit in. Oliver glanced at the garments left on the third suitcase and blushed. Although he mostly ignores women, it doesn't mean he's oblivious to women's undies! It's still awkward to touch it!
He gritted his teeth and opened the closet. He closed his eyes and chanted that they're married as he collected those garments and quickly stuffed the in the closet. Once done, he slammed it closed making a loud noise. Oliver quickly checked in Mai and released a sigh after seeing her serene sleeping face.
Although, he had a favourable impression for this woman, he's really not ready to live in the world of marriage yet!
