Someday

Seven Months after Praimfaya

If this was truly a dream then Clarke would be begging God or whatever deity out there in the universe to let her embrace this... Just this once.

She wasn't even sure how it happened. She was just practicing her skills with a bow. She had found one in a hidden bunker nearby that held various weapons. She shot the small animal in the stomach. She wasn't an expert but those training lessons from Polis had mattered to Clarke. All of it did. She still missed Anya. Her mentor and friend was stuck inside the Bunker along with Octavia and the rest of the Grounders. They were fortunate to part on positive terms. They may not have met in the best way. They even tried to kill each other once but in time, they respected and admired each other to the point where Anya surprised Clarke by offering the young blonde to be her Seken. Certainly a gruelling but useful and important task.

Yet, in all that time from stopping Alie to Nightblood to making sure Humanity survived, Clarke didn't expect this. She never expected to see her again.

"Klark" A soft voice echoed behind her. Clarke stiffened then she turned around to see the source of that all too familiar voice.

It was Lexa but Clarke couldn't believe it,

"No"! Clarke whispered in a broken voice, "You're not her! Stop! You can't be her"! Lexa looked very sad but she slowly walked towards the blonde,

"Klark, Beja (Please)! I know how it looks but I assure you, This is real! I'm back"! Clarke knew she sounded just like her but none of it made any sense. Was she truly real or was she just hallucinating again? Just like all the others. All the other voices she used to hear before she reached the Valley. She used to see the people she lost months ago. After Madi, She thought she was getting better.

Lexa walked over, gently caressing Clarke's cheeks, wiping her tears away. Lexa's heart broke at the pain in Clarke's eyes. It wasn't supposed to be like this.

"You're dead Lex. The Dead are Gone. The Living are Hungry". Lexa's heart shuddered at hearing her own statement thrown back at her.

"It wasn't supposed to be like this. I promised I'd never hurt you again. This is worse then the Mountain. I'm so sorry Klark". Lexa thought in her mind as Clarke cried in agony, letting her tears fall.

Clarke wasn't fighting back when Lexa gently touched her cheeks. Lexa whispered in Trig, "Can the dead do this"? She kissed the blonde on the mouth, pouring every single feeling into the kiss. She needed to show Clarke that this was real, that they were real.

The kiss ended as Clarke wrapped her arms around Lexa in a fierce hug. Lexa smiled brightly. For once, she didn't care where her people were or why this valley was the only place that wasn't destroyed. So long as she was with Clarke.

"I missed you so much"! Clarke whispered with happy tears in her eyes, smiling gratefully.

Lexa nodded in understanding, "I know, I missed you too Klark. I'm so sorry for leaving you". Clarke shook her head,

"It's my fault Lexa. He was gunning for me, literally". The former Heda argued back, "Titus made his choice Klark just as we've made ours". Clarke reluctantly accepted and asked the question that she's been meaning to ask,

"How did you make it Lexa? I'm beyond grateful that you didn't die but how are you here"?

Lexa nodded and answered as they walked, "I wasn't sure at first. When I fell unconscious, all I saw was you. I was waiting to black out and for the pain to end but I still felt the everything. When I woke up, I was in some cave in deep Trikru lands. A friend of my Nomon (Mother) was healing me. Her name was Zara and she told me that I was in a coma for many months".

Clarke looked at Lexa, studying her expressions as she told the story. Someone must have stopped Lexa's burning because Titus would see her injury as weakness. She had hoped that this Zara woman had made it to the Bunker.

Lexa continued, "She told me that Praimfaya was coming again in a matter of days. I had asked if you were safe. She said that you were likely in Space with your friends". Lexa took a deep breath and said, "It wasn't long after when she burst into flames". Lexa decided to let the tears fall in front of Clarke who had wiped them away with her thumb.

Lexa was grateful that she didn't say anything. They were alike in wanting comfort but never pity.

Lexa continued, "I gathered my supplies and my horse, trying to look for survivors. Before Zara died, she told me about how my people hid in a Bunker that would survive this".

Lexa took a deep breath, "When I realized that I couldn't get in, I looked for sustenance and any survivors... I knew it wasn't likely but I hoped that I wouldn't be alone". Clarke nodded her head in understanding.

"I found you" Lexa uttered softly, "What happened Klark"?

Clarke took a deep breath and told her everything that happened since Lexa's supposed death. The brunette's heart broke at how Aden was murdered. She had cared for him more than she could ever say. Her blood boiled at what Ontari did and was glad to hear of her demise.

Clarke eventually continued from the battle against Allie and meeting Becca to Clarke's mission to ensure Humanity's survival against Praimfaya. She finished it up to realigning the satellite dish.

Lexa scowled at what Clarke told her, "They left you here"! Clarke sighed and reasoned, "They didn't have a choice. I had to climb up the tower and move the dish so they could survive up there". Lexa huffed in annoyance at Clarke, complaining that the woman she loved had no Self-Preservation.

Lexa never knew Octavia personally but she was glad that someone was in charge of her people. Plus, she was Indra's Seken so that had to count.

"How are you here Klark? How did you survive"? Clarke took out her combat knife and made a small cut on her hand. Lexa's eyes widened at the Black blood flowing from the cut on Clarke's palm.

"Turns out Nightblood doesn't just heal you or make you stronger. It increases our resistance to higher levels of radiation. I tested myself but the machine was destroyed before I could finish the test. When the death wave came, it took awhile for it to start healing me". Lexa's heart clenched at the thought of Clarke being burned alive and having to be regenerated like that.

She had processed everything slowly and Clarke was incredibly patient. Unlike other Grounders, it wasn't surprising to her that Nightblood came from science. Not after learning about the real truth behind Becca Praimheda and Alie.

"Did Anya make it"? Lexa asked worriedly.

Clarke smiled and nodded, "Yeah, she was in the Bunker when I left to get Raven".

Lexa looked glad that her old friend had likely survived the end of the world.

Clarke went to grab her game.

Lexa commented, "Anya would be impressed". Clarke smiled, "I wish I could reach her but I couldn't, not with that much rubble".

"You still believe your friends will return"? Lexa asked.

Clarke nodded and revealed her dirty radio, "I call them every night. I don't get anything back but I have to hope. There is still a five year wait until it's safe enough for them to come back".

Lexa smiled, "You were never one to give up".

Clarke to turned sad and Lexa turned over to her, "Klark, what is it"?

Clarke whispered loud enough for Lexa to hear her,

"Lexa... I did once... Until I found the Valley". Lexa instinctively grasped her hand, trying to pour all her feelings into one message.

"I'm here" Clarke smiled back and mouthed "I know". Clarke laughed and Lexa wanted to never stop hearing that beautiful sound.

"Are we going to eat soon"? Lexa asked. Clarke smiled,

"Yes but one more thing, I wasn't alone in this valley".

Lexa's eyes widened, "What"? Clarke chuckled,

"I'll show you. Follow me and leave that deer over there". Lexa followed after Clarke as she went to the Rover. She opened the doors and Lexa was shocked to find a small dark haired child sleeping in the back seat.

Lexa turned to Clarke who was smiling in amusement, "Klark"? The blonde responded,

"No Lex, she's not biologically mine. I found her during my first days in the Valley".

Lexa whispered in confirmation, "She's a Natblida". Clarke nodded her head.

"I couldn't leave her all alone Lex and I certainly didn't want to be alone". Clarke explained

Lexa smiled and turned to her and said, "I always believed you'd make an incredible Nomon (Mother)". Clarke blushed then she slowly tapped the little one's shoulder,

"Madi, it's time to wake up". Madi grumbled,

"No more lessons Nomon. I'm tired". Lexa snorted at Clarke glared at her. She had never seen a child talk back to Wanheda like that.

"It's time to eat and we have company". Madi sprung out of her bed and stared right up at the former Commander. She turned to Clarke and looked up at Lexa. Questions were buzzing through the little girl's head until she finally sprung on Clarke,

"You said she was dead"! Clarke shrugged her shoulders, I thought so too. She found me just recently". Lexa chuckled and said towards Madi, "It's wonderful to meet you. Can you properly introduce me, little one". Madi smiled and Clarke laughed,

"Lexa, this is Madi. Madi, this is Lexa". Madi shouted out loud,

"I know Nomon! I've seen her face so many times"! Clarke gulped like she was caught. Lexa furrowed her eyebrows in confusion,

"What do you mean"? Madi sprinted over to a bunch of papers, only they were drawings. Madi handed over more then a handful of drawings. Lexa finally understood what the child meant.

They were drawings of Lexa and they were incredibly accurate,

"She drew you all the time". Clarke laughed softly at the irony of this situation. Lexa smiled and extended her hand to Madi and said,

"I don't know about you Madi but I'm looking to have some dinner. Is it okay if I join the both of you"? Lexa then looked at Clarke for permission. Madi turned to Clarke with a pleading expression on her face. Clarke thought the manner of which Lexa said it was goofy but she understood what Lexa meant,

"Would you still have me"?

Clarke smiled and nodded which made Madi charge into Clarke for a hug. She rubbed Madi's head affectionately. She extended her other hand to Lexa which she instinctively took as they traveled outside for their dinner but for them it was more then just a dinner to them.

To them, it was the chance at a New Beginning.

A memory suddenly appeared to Clarke,

"Maybe Someday, you and I will owe nothing more to our people".

"Maybe"

Clarke and Lexa looked at each other and an understanding passed between them as Madi was asking question after question to Lexa

Perhaps Someday was possible for them.
