Why do we Love
Hiccup awakens, his head is beating hard. He grabs his head and starts to rub it but it doesn't ease his pain. He looks around and sees an unfamiliar environment. "Where am I?"
"You're in the City of Corona, Hiccup" A strange woman says making her presence known as she enters the room. The woman had long black curly hair, she wore a red dress and a black cloak. In her left hand laid a cigarette. She walked over to him and put her right hand over his head. "You've got a fever and your body is also completely shot. You won't live past the week." She explains without sugarcoating anything.
"So I've been told" Hiccup says dryly. He gets off the bed and stands himself up. His legs feel strong but also sore. He looks down to see his left leg, only it's not his thin plastic metal leg. It's full on metal and much thicker than his other fake leg. As a matter of fact, if it didn't look like metal you wouldn't be able to tell if it was a fake leg. He starts moving his leg around testing it out, his toes wiggle…. his toes wiggle?! His eyes widen in surprise at this, he looks up to the woman for answers.
The woman grins and explains, "I wasn't the one who made that leg for you if that's what you're wondering. I just attached it to you is all." She says before taking a puff of her cigarette.
"Then who-"
"That would be me Hiccup," Gobber makes his presence known as he enters the room, he closes the door behind him for privacy. "I'm disappointed Hiccup, I thought you of all people would recognize my handiwork,". He points to his newly metal foot. "How's it feel?"
Hiccup wiggles it around and walks around as if he were trying on knew shoes. "Surprisingly light," he comments.
Gobber smiles, "that's because it's a newly discovered metal, they call it Gronkle iron. Much lighter than any other metal on earth, and just as strong."
Hiccup swings his leg and kicks a chair, cutting it in half.
"Maybe a little stronger," Gobber finishes with a grin. Hiccup nods his head and continues to swing his leg away testing its limitations. Before he couldn't use his left leg for kicking, but now…now he could.
"If I was your doctor I'd tell you to rest. But… I've already done my part." The woman says before taking a puff of her cigarette.
"How long have I been out for?" Hiccup asks after relaxing his foot.
"You've been out for a while now Hiccup," Gobber answers. "But you woke up just in time, tomorrow the tournament begins."
"You can't be serious, you mean to tell me this boy is still going to enter the tournament under this condition?" The woman says with one eyebrow up.
"It's not up to me. Trust me if I had it my way he'd be living a normal life right now. It's his choice not mine." Gobber explains. He looks back to Hiccup and introduces the woman."Hiccup, this woman is Gothel. She's an unorthodox doctor but her treatments are top notch. As a matter of fact she's considered a god in her field. However-"
"I was excommunicated from the little doctors club since my experiments were, how should I say. Inhumane?" Gothel explains her situation.
"She should technically be one of the most wanted people alive but she did treat a lot of politicians and such. Because of that she was able to get off with a slap on the wrist for misdemeanor."
Hiccup nods his head uncaringly and moves to leave the room however he's stopped by Gothel's next words.
"So, have you regained your memories yet?" Gothel asks while leaning back against the wall.
Hiccup looks at her with a surprised expression. 'The only people who know I'm missing memories, are the people who knew me during my missing memory period. This woman knows something,' He walks back to her and stands right in front of her. "What do you know?"
"You know, I was very surprise to see your body come to me like this. When you left me all those years ago your body was in the process of healing, but it looks like it all went to waste."
Hiccup grabs her by the neck and pushes her against the wall. "Tell me!" He demanded.
Gobber moves to separate them but is stopped by Gothel who raised her hand. She looks into Hiccup's eyes. "Look at you go, a walking dead man and you still have so much strength left."
Hiccup glares and tightens his grip.
She coughs, "F-fine then, let me go"
With a final glare he lets her drop to the floor. "Talk,"
She rubs her neck and stands up smiling. "Your father came to me a long time ago. And he brought you with him. He wanted to make you stronger by any means necessary. I obliged of course, how could I deny such a willing test subject,". She moves over to a desk and opens a drawer. She takes out an envelope and gives it to Hiccup.
Hiccup grabs the envelope and opens it up revealing documents and pictures of him as a child.
"We put your body through hell to make you stronger. We used psychological torture, physiological torture and we even tried hypnosis."
Hiccup goes through the pictures to see younger him receiving shock therapy, waterboarding, and being hung from his hands. "What were you hoping to achieve through this?" He asked calmly.
"Ever hear the story about how a woman who never lifted weights was able to lift a car to save her child? How do you suppose she did that?"
"Adrenaline I guess,"
"Thats right, the brain releases a type of dopamine in which it allows humans to do things they otherwise wouldn't be able to do. Of course it only happens under specific conditions and for a limited amount of time. We put you in a constant state of stress in order to unlock that adrenaline. We were hoping to find a way to keep a person in that state for a long period of time."
"Any success?"
"We had a lot of… volunteers… so we were able to gauge out how long a person could last. The longest person lasted twelve hours." She says with a smile.
"Who was this person?"
"You," she gives him a moment to digest this new information. "That is the reason why your body is severely damaged and why your body won't last a few more days." She walks up to him and starts tracing his scars. "Your body was damaged beyond recognition and with every test you became weaker and weaker until finally, you became stronger than anyone."
"And my heart?"
"Normally the adrenaline boost wouldn't damage your body, that is assuming you don't use it for more than an hour. But you who used it for over twelve hours, your heart couldn't handle the pressure. You began to bleed internally and you suffered from memory loss. Your blood was just moving too fast for your heart and brain to process properly." She moves her hand over to where his heart is at. "And from the looks of things you received my experimental adrenaline shot,"
"I'm not sure to be honest, one moment I was barely standing up and the next."
"You had power like nothing ever before,"
"Exactly,"
"Stoick shot him with an injection, he said it was some kind of adrenaline shot." Gobber brought up.
"That's because it is. You see thanks to our test subject here we were able to harness that dopamine and expand it better than ever. It allows the person to experience a solid two hours of adrenaline, however test subjects have shown to be able to go beyond the two hour mark."
"Two hours only?," Gobber said not at all impressed by such a low time frame.
"You have to understand, anymore then two hours and the person will begin to experience memory loss like our test subject here." Gothel explains.
"Is it really that good though?" Gobber asked.
"Haven't you seen it in action already, I think the results speak for themselves. And if that isn't enough look at the news. They took over an entire city without the use of firearms."
"That was your doing?!"
"No of course not, I assume that was Stoick's handiwork. I just manufactured the drug."
Gobber and Hiccup look at her with suspicion written on their faces. She sees this and decides to tell them more information.
"You should know that the drug is still experimental, meaning it's not perfected. It only adds another hour to the adrenaline. There's still no way for a person to be able to control how fast the blood pumps or how long until the injection wears off once it's in the bloodstream."
"You mean that the blood is flowing-" Hiccup is cut off by Gothel.
"At it's maximum speed from the beginning, yes. Theoretically if someone were able to control the output he or she uses, they would be able to then stay in the state longer than a person who uses it at it's maximum speed from the get-go. Of course by lowering the output you also lower your speed."
"Is the speed that important?" Gobber asks while scratching his head.
"Very important, think about it. The injection doesn't make you stronger, it just makes your blood flow faster allowing you to move faster. Now if your mass isn't increasing then how is your force increasing? It's velocity, by moving faster you're increasing your velocity which then allows for a greater force."
"That's a lot of science behind that," Gobber said a little confused.
"That's basic physics Gobber," Gothel explains.
"Is there anyone else who survived the experiments?" Hiccup asked.
"There were a handful of survivors,"
"How many did you experiment on?" Gobber asked.
"Roughly over twelve hundred, including Hiccup."
Both Hiccup and Gobber widen their ayes at the amount of people experimented on.
"So many people," Gobber said flabbergasted. "How did you keep that a secret from the government?"
"Ha! The government? They were the ones in on it. After the War of the Warriors of Old the government wanted a way to combat against them. Which led them to me. I of course accepted the job willingly but after a while our interest drifted so I left and became a private researcher slash doctor." She turns to Hiccup. "Test subject over here is only a third generation. We had over twelve generations, a hundred people per generation. And for each generation only one survived, the strongest ones that is." She looks through another cabinet and pulls out eleven more envelopes and throws them onto the bed. Each envelope had a small picture of a person with their names paper clipped onto the envelope.
Hiccup and Gobber walk over to see them. They were people they had never seen before. All but one that is.
"First Generation is a wild man named Tarzan. When we found him he was living with the gorillas. We took him for his amazing strength and agility, however he was far too animalistic for the procedure to bare any fruits. We tortured his body until he received his dopamine, unfortunately he showed no attempts to control his newfound power and destroyed the facility."
"Where is he now?" Hiccup asked.
"He escaped containment, his location is unknown."
Hiccup doesn't trust her answer but doesn't push it any further. "And the next person?"
"Second Generation is a man named Mordu. He was our first grown adult who came to us and was experimented on. This man from the very beginning was obsessed with strength, so his coming to us was no surprise. His strength is probably the best out of all twelve surviving generations. But of course his lust for strength made him turn animalistic. We were hoping that a civilized man unlike the first gen would be able to handle the huge adrenaline boost. He did not and proceeded to tear the doctors apart." She shows them a picture of the doctors with their missing limbs. "We manage to contain him and lock him away. Location classified." She says with a smile.
"Now that's a scary looking dude," Gobber says while looking at the picture of Mordu.
"Third Generation was Hiccup Haddock. Our youngest and one of our most promising test subjects. You were brought in by your father and left under my personal supervision. We decided to do something a little different with you instead of just giving your brain a little shock. We decided to raise your bodies endurance first since you were not only much younger but also much weaker than your previous seniors. We tortured your body with every known method conceivable. We then proceeded to manipulate your mind, destroying it and then reviving it over and over agin. We put your body under a huge amount of stress until finally your body released it's dopamine, what we didn't realize was that your father taught you martial arts." She shows them a picture of Hiccup attacking the doctors and guards. "You killed fourteen people that day."
"I'm sure they were missed," Hiccup says while rolling his eyes. Gothel carries on.
"Fourth Generation was a man named Ryker Grimborn. We tried the same methods as we did for you but unfortunately one of the doctors fried his brain just a little too much. He's not dumb or anything but he's not exactly normal either. He shows no interest in learning anything, just fighting. He was nothing too special, but he did defeat the other hundred fourth generation subjects and killed them. Earning his title as the fourth gen test subject. Location classified."
"So he's a failed experiment?" Hiccups asks.
"You all are technically," Gobber says while scratching his chin.
"Fifth Generation was a man named Eugene Fitzherbert. He was a common thief that we kidnapped and experimented on. The reason he was kidnap was due to his agility of being able to jump across rooftops and his skills of breaking and entering. By this time we managed to create the first injection and this man showed great promise with the adrenaline boost making him not only faster but also more agile. Unfortunately during one of the test runs he managed to escape."
"You didn't put a tracer?" Hiccup asks to which Gothel didn't respond.
"Sixth Generation is Viggo Grimborn, brother of Ryker Grimborn our Fourth Gen. Viggo also showed great promise with his usage of the injection. So far out of everyone he currently has the second best chance of controlling the adrenaline output." She says with pride. "Location classified."
"Seventh Generation didn't show much promise but his body was able to handle the injection. Almost as good as Mordu and Tarzan. His name is Gaston. Gaston was a hunter before we came to him so he had good experience with harsh environments. Location classified."
"Our eighth generation was our first and only woman who managed to claim a generation spot. Her name is Raya. She showed average promise but what was really interesting was how she was able to still be flexible even under the stress of the adrenaline. You see because the blood moves faster it forces the body to tighten up. This means you shouldn't be able to use certain techniques as your muscles would tighten up instead of loosening up." She shows a picture of Raya doing yoga. "Of course by this time we were able to lower the adrenaline output in the injection which is why she was able to still be flexible. She's currently living with her father and practicing martial arts at their little dojo."
"Was I also not as flexible?" Hiccup asked.
"No, she was given a twenty five percent output injection. This is what allowed her to still have an increase of speed and still have her flexibility. Of course she wasn't able to move as fast as everyone else because of the low output. But because of how low the output was she was still able to remain in the form for four hours. You didn't receive an injection as we weren't able to control how much you received. We estimated you received a full one hundred percent from your brain."
"Then what injection did Stoick give him?" Gobber asked.
"I'm not sure, I'd have to have the bottle in hand in order to see the amount but seeing as he's still here it's safe to say he didn't have one above the seventy five percent. Anything above it and the person will become crazy and will begin bleeding from the eyes, ears, nose and mouth."
"Hiccup started bleeding during and after the injection. Doesn't that mean he received one like that?"
"Not necessarily, since his body was already damaged and in the process of healing. Like I said I would need the bottle in hand in order to make any judgment calls."
"Bu-" Gobber is cut off by Hiccup.
"It's fine Gobber, let's just move on to the next one." He says while closing his eyes.
Gobber looks at Hiccup with a sad expression on his face. He knew it wouldn't matter at this point but he wanted to help Hiccup anyway he could. Gobber raised Hiccup since he was just a boy, he viewed him like a son. And a father would do anything for his family.
Gothel moves on to the next person, "The ninth generation belongs to John Smith. He was an officer of the law, went missing a few years back. He was trying to expose our little organization and was caught sneaking in. We decided to put him to good use and experimented on him, this time instead of affecting the heart we decided to mess around with the brain." She pulls out a picture from his file revealing a drawing of a brain.
"What did you do?" Hiccup asked.
"The brain is known as the greatest computer known to man. And the brain is constantly sending messages throughout the body. What we did was make it so that the brain could send those messages even faster than it could already do. This greatly increased his reaction speed but it also made him hallucinate false images. With the brain processing things much faster it also began seeing silhouettes and it formed those images to people he knew from the past. Reports indicate that the images he saw were people taunting him and attacking him. Location Classified."
"Was this the only generation to receive this test?" Hiccup asked to which Gothel nodded.
"The test was deemed a failure since nearly all of the test subjects killed themselves and then the rest were killed by him."
"That's messed up," Gobber says while grimacing at the piece pf news.
"Well our tenth generation was a lot more lighter than the previous one. Our champion for that one is Kristoff Bjorgman. He worked for the Arendale family ever since he was child as an ice sculptor. We recruited him since he wanted to become stronger in order to one day request the hand of one Anna Arendale. Apparently she helped him land a job there when they were children. This generation was a disappointing one since he showed no compatibility with the adrenaline booster. Location, working at the ice sculptor factory."
"You let him go?" Hiccup asked wondering why they'd let a man go with all their secrets.
"He showed no real promise and we currently have him in observation."
Hiccup nods his head in understanding but still can't help but wonder why they'd let him go so easily.
"Eleventh Generation belongs to a man named Shan Yu. He hails from the Northern cities and rules a crime syndicate that terrorizes the northern cities. This man was recruited due to his expert combat abilities, his strength, his speed, his physical and mental endurance, his brilliant mind and his indomitable willpower. This man was the perfect candidate for who we wanted to achieve the strongest man title. This man also possess the greatest chance to perfect and master the adrenaline. His location classified."
Gobber takes a closer look at the man, then realization hits him. "I know this man, he's wanted for the murder of over a hundred police officers, possibly more."
Gothel doesn't say anything about that and continues on. "The twelfth and final Generation belongs to Dagger the Deranged. He was an interesting case. He came to us at the age of sixteen. We didn't turn him away and to be honest we didn't expect much from him however he showed great resilience to the stress and the stress of the adrenaline. He was capable of handling a seventy five percent injection. We would've done more test but we got shut down and I went freelance." Gothel explained.
Hiccup looked over to Gothel. "I noticed you kept saying we, who is this we you're talking about?"
"Their were two other female doctors who participated in the experiments. Although to be honest we rarely helped one another. The three of us were focusing on different experiments. But the people who I'm talking about were the warriors of old, or at least the ones that were interested in the experiments." Gothel looks at Hiccup's annoyed expression. "Guess you got some grudges against them, I don't blame you since they are the reason you're dying right now." She takes another puff. "You see those old bastards were preparing for a new generation of warriors as well. The plan was always to betray the government and start a new war. This time a war that would involve the entire country. But everyone from the twelve generations were deemed failures."
"Why?"
"Because none of you could control the output. Of course that's not say that the experiments have stopped. Its just they've calmed down a bit since we have not been receiving large funds or test subjects for that matter. I don't even think you realize the amount of shit you caused us when you lost your memories. With your memories gone it set us back to square one undoing everything we did. I wanted to start with you again but by then your mother took you away and we had already received the next batch of orders to clear out of the area."
"Why'd you clear out?" Gobber asked.
"Every time we get our candidate we have to destroy the base and move on to a new one. Kept us from being caught I suppose."
"What was the purpose of gathering twelve candidates, what where we candidates for?" Hiccup asked.
"The idea was that the twelve of you would lead the next war and one of you would be the one to rule them all. Of course the plan was botched because everyone scattered like rats when Stoick arrived."
"What do you mean? I thought he took part in it,"
"Oh no, you see he only acted like he did in order to make sure you got stronger. But when the experiment failed he came three days after and killed some of the warriors of old and he nearly killed all of them. The survivors fled but continued to fund us in secret. Even now the only things stopping the warriors of old from returning is him and you."
"They fear me? Why?"
"I'm not sure why, but it won't matter in a few more days. And don't think for a moment Stoick is doing this for some good reason. More likely he's doing this to start his own war."
"Yeah I figured," Hiccup said while rolling his eyes. "Where can I find them?"
"You can't, little bastards are taking this very seriously. They won't tell anyone where they are." She looks at Hiccup's determined face. "You can't be serious kid. You're about to enter a tournament with a body that's breaking down. How do expect to not only survive that but to also survive fighting those old coots. They aren't alive because they're weak you know?"
"I know, but it's something I have to do."
"Why? Because of your sister?"
Hiccup doesn't answer. He looks to Gothel and asks, "Why do we love?"
Gothel has a surprised expression written across her face. After a few moments she clears her throat and says, "well, humans are sociable creatures so I suppose we like to find something to love in order not to feel alone."
"Hm, maybe. But how is it that some men can love nothing but war and chaos." He thinks too Stoick and Dagur. "Some people don't love humans, some people love animals, others love objects. People find different things to love but no-one really understands why. Sure we try to justify it by going to science and figuring it out through the brain releasing some hormones. You know what I think? I think we love because we are alone in this world. We love because we were born alone into this world and soon we will die alone. We want to fill in the gap between with something or someone. We want to love and be loved because in reality we are afraid of losing a connection with reality."
"And why do you love?" Gothel asked.
"I don't know, for so long I was just moving along with everyone else, for so long I was just so tired of everything. I just wanted to die.."
"And do you still want to die?"
"A part of me does want to die, but there's also a part of me that doesn't want to die, or rather would be sad that I died. I don't know what these emotions I'm feeling are, but before I die I want to know if my sister was happy and if I could be happy as well."
"Happiness? People don't strive for that, only wealth and power. Nobody searches for happiness anymore."
"People will always try to find a way to be happy. Why do we love? It's because it's a moment in our life that people will remember for the rest of their lives. The only love I know is the love of my sister, the love of my father Gobber, and the love of my mother Gothi. I have no love experience with anyone. I've dated in the past but never loved them. And for a long time I knew nothing but hatred. The hatred of my father, but remarkably now that I look back. I don't think I ever really hated my mother."
Gobber and Gothel look at him in surprise. How could they not. Valka was one of the people who made his life a living hell.
"After the death of my sister I wanted to experience the same love she gave me, so I went to my mother for comfort. But each time she turned me away or pushed me aside. I did everything I could think of to earn her love. She wanted me get straight A's so I became the smartest in my class every year. She wanted me to be able to clean my room on my own so I cleaned the house. She wanted me to know how to cook so I began cooking my own breakfast, lunch and dinner. She wanted me to be stronger than Stoick so I put in even more effort to learn from him. It was never enough and yet I continued to try to please her. All I wanted was my mothers love but she never returned it once."
"Do you still want it now?"
"I don't know, I think deep down I still am just that little boy craving his mothers attention, his mothers love. Perhaps after I kill Stoick she'll love me or perhaps not. I don't even know anymore why I'm doing anything. I owe the Arendale family nothing. I owe my biological parents nothing and yet I still continue to move forward."
"Is this moving forward to you? Or are you moving backwards?"
"Maybe I am moving backwards. Maybe instead of finding peace at the end of the road all I'll find is despair once again. I won't know till I reach the end."
"I don't think your sister would want you to die for revenge if that's what you're after."
"No, I imagine she would be quite disappointed in me if that was the reason. I suppose I just want to hear it from the old man, why did he do it."
"Hmm, I suppose in your final moments you would like to hear the reason why your sister had to die." She takes a puff. "Shall I tell you?"
The three of them stand in silence no-one daring to break the ice. Hiccup glares at Gothel and opens his mouth to speak.
Suddenly the door slams open and in comes the police. "FREEZE! HANDS UP!" They yell however none of the occupants are impressed.
Natalia makes her presence known as she enters the room, gun drawn. She's surprised to see Hiccup there. "Hiccup?!"
"Natalia," he greets. "Is there a reason you're all here or is this a social visit." He asks sarcastically.
Natalia shakes out of her stupor and shapes up, "Gothel you're under arrest, read her her rights and get her out of here." The officers nod and take Gothel away but before they leave Gothel turns to Natalia.
"How long do you think you can hold me officer, I can tell. You've seen my work in action haven't you."
Natalia doesn't respond.
Gothel grins, "Hiccup, there's an injection on the top shelf. Its a fifty percent injection. You might need it for what's coming." With that they take her away.
"I'm going to get the car ready," Gobber says before leaving.
Natalia and Hiccup are now alone in the room. Hiccup reaches over the shelf until he finds the injection. There is no label indicating a fifty percent but with no other options he is forced to take her at her word.
"Thats police evidence Hiccup."
Hiccup ignores her and begins thinking to himself, 'The last time I got an injection it nearly killed me, perhaps it's for the best that I don't use this,' and so with that in mind he hands it over to Natalia. "I'll trust you with this Natalia. I've been injected with one of these things so if possible can you let me know whaat it does to the body?"
Natalia grabs it and places its in a plastic bag. "Thank you Hiccup, I'll take it to the lab and then give you a call."
Hiccup nods and leaves, but Natalia. Natalia opens her mouth to say something but then decides against it. She leaves the room and allows the detectives to search through the room.
The Day of the Tournament
The stadium was filled with thousands of people from across all the cities around the country. The crowd was talking excitedly for a tournament of this size has not been held for some time, and the prize was something everyone wanted at any cost. The hand of Elsa Arendale and the wealth of the Arendale family.
A woman enters into the center of the stadium. She's wearing a red tight dress that shows off her curves, she's carrying a microphone and raises it to her lips.
"Ladies and Gentleman thank you for your patience, it's been a long week but at last. At long last the time has come." She takes a deep breath and exhales. "WE WILL NOW BEGIN THE TOURNAMENT OF HEAVENS ARENA!"
The crows roars in excitement, their feet's hitting the floor repeatedly, their hands formed into fist as they grip tightly onto the seats. Everyone is clearly excited.
"FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!
The crowd continues to cry out FIGHT.
In the private box area some high class people can be sitting there, some notable people being Iduna, Elsa, and Anna Arendale. However Agnarr was nowhere to be seen.
"This is quite the crowd you've gathered here Lady Arendale,". A man dressed in a black and green suit comments as he sits himself next to Iduna.
Iduna smiles and replies, "This is no ordinary tournament. The winner of this tournament will change the rules of the world and the meaning of order." She looks to the man and says "I'm surprised to see you here, Fergus."
Fergus grins and lays back on the seat. "Ha! As if id miss out on a good beating! Honestly most of these young lads could use a beating".
"How's Elinor doing? It's been a while since I've last seen her."
"Oh she's doing fine, just talking to to our daughter." He says while grimacing a bit.
"Merida still giving her trouble?" Iduna asked amused.
"Aye, that lass will be the death of me I say. She wants to be free and ride off into the wind somewhere."
"Has she any proposals?"
"Aye, three in fact. However she just won't give em a chance!" He says while rubbing his head.
Iduna changes the topic. "And your three sons are ten yes? Little young for marriage aren't they?"
"Aye, I'm glad I won't have to worry about them until they reach eighteen." He says with a nod.
Iduna wanted to question him more on him being here but decided against it, deciding he came more out of boredom rather than the actual prize itself. "Where are your three boys?"
"All over the damn place! Soon as we got here they just took off!"
Giggling she says "I'll have security on the look out."
"Thank you Iduna," Elinor gives her thanks and makes her presence known. She sits to the right of Fergus.
"How'd it go with Merida?"
Elinor sighs, "awful, she just took off the moment the announcements began."
Iduna gives her a sympathetic smile.
"Ah, don't worry much of it, let her cool her head off and she'll be back to watch the matches." Fergus says with confidence.
Their attention is brought back to the announcer.
"AND NOW BRINGING OUT OUR LIST OF CONTENDERS!" She stretches her hand revealing the contenders as they walk out onto the arena.
"OUR FIRST CONTENDER, FLORIAN! REPRESENTING THE COMPANY OF AGRICULTURE. HIS FAMILY OWNS OVER EIGHTY PERCENT OF THE LAND SUITABLE FOR FARMING!"
A young man waves his hand, he has light brown hair and wears a blue uniform with the symbol on an apple attached to his shirt. The man wasn't smiling, he was frowning.
"NEXT WE HAVE HENRY CHARMING! REPRESENTING THE COMPANY OF SONG&DANCE ENTERTAINMENT. YOU CANT GO BIG IN THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY WITHIUT THEIR STAMP OF APPROVAL!"
Another young man follows behind, he wore a yellow uniform and had the symbol of a show on his uniform. He held a gloomy expression.
"REPRESENTING EVERYONES FAVORITE CLOTHING LINE, PHILIP! I BET MOST OF YOU IF NOT ALL ARE WEARING THEIR CLOTHES'!"
The young man walks out into the field with the symbol of a spinning wheel on his shirt. The young man is frowning.
"REPRESENTING THE FISHING COMPONY THAT RULES HALF THE SEAS, ERIC!"
This young man walks out and just like his predecessors he comes out frowning.
"NEXT UP REPRESENTING BEAUTIES REAL ESTATE, ADAM!"
The man came pout smiling as he waved to the masses gaining himself even more cheers than the previous four. He looks to the other four men and smiles, 'Oh this ought to be good."
"NEXT UP WHO WE HAVE REPRESENTING THE BOARD OF EDUCATION, LI SHANG!"
Li Shang walks out with a frown however its more serious than the original four contestants.
Iduna looks up to Fergus and asks, "Fergus should you not be down there?" Iduna questioned.
He looks at her with a confused gaze. "Hmm? No I could never do that to you, you're practically family. I understand what your family is going through right now."
Iduna nods in gratitude but is still confused, "Then, who's going to represent your company? It has to be someone of your blood."
"What do you mean, our family won't be participating in this tournament." Elinor explained.
"But your company's name was on the bracket" Elsa added information to the conversation.
"We didn't put it-"
All their eyes widen as they all realized who did it. Their focus turns back to the contestants.
"UP NEXT REPRESENTING WILD SPORT&HUNTING, MERIDA!"
Merida walks up smiling and winking up to the private box.
"THAT SON OF A-"
"FERGUS!" Elinor interrupts, however she is still angry at Merida. "That daughter of ours has done something reckless again."
"Yes," Iduna comments, "and possibly at the worst possible moment"
Elinor and Fergus look too Iduna with confused gazes. "What do you mean?" Iduna asks.
The announcer redraws their attention. "NEXT UP WE HAVE REPRESENTING MERCS WITH SINS, DAGUR THE DERANGED!"
Dagur rushes into the stage, he can barely contain his excitement. Hew looks at all the men so far gathered and grins. "Hello there dipshits, you're all gunna die today,".
"Dagur, Ive been waiting for this moment" Li Shang says while walking up to him. "I'm going to prove today that I'm the strongest one here."
Dagur looks him up and down smiling, "huh? Your the strongest one here? Gotta get your eyes checked asshole, cuz I'm the only one here who can claim that title."
While they bicker on the arena Elinor has a nervous sweat. "Iduna please, disqualify her from the tournament."
"I can't, I have to be unbiased and unpartial, otherwise the Arendale family will lose the trust of everyone." Iduna explains her position with a serious face.
"Even so-"
"It'll be alright Elinor," Furgus says drawing her attention. "I trained her since she was little, she won't fall so easily. If she's lucky she'll fight Dagger last when he's injured and tired. Lets put our trust into her and give her our support."
Elinor is skeptical but backs down and focus back to the arena. 'Please be alright,'
"OUR NEXT CONTENDER REPRESENTING IMPORTS&EXPORTS, HANS OF THE SOUTHERN CITIES!"
Hans enters the arena with a sly grin and the confidence of man who expects nothing but victory.
"Hahahahaha, well look who didn't back down after all!" Dagur laughs and slaps him on the back causing a stinging sensation all over Han's back.
Han's grimaces but tries to hide it. "Im confident in my win Dagur, nothing will be able to stop me from reaching my goal now."
Dagur gives him a knowing smile but doesn't say anything about it.
"AND FINALLY LAST BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST, REPRESENTING FUR TRADE IS HICCUP HADDOCK!"
Hiccup begins to enter the arena but is stopped by Gobber.
"Remember what I told you Hiccup, if you want to stop Stoick's goal then you best forfeit the tournament. Dagur is here for only one person Hiccup, you. You cant expect to fight both Dagur and Stoick. Don't worry about Elsa, Iduna is a clever woman. She'll be able to figure something out. Winning the tournament isn't worth your life."
"It's not about winning the tournament anymore Gobber, it's about attaining freedom." With those words he leaves and enters the arena.
"You gave it your last shot Gobber, come on the meetings about to start." Agnarr says revealing himself from the shadows.
Gobber sighs and follows him into the abyss.
Back with Hiccup he makes it to the other contestants. He looks around only recognizing Dagur and Hans.
Dagur walks up to him and says, "your going to be the first person I kill," he says with a smile.
Some of the other fighters grimace at this and keep their distance not wanting to die.
Hiccup simply says "shut up,".
"ALRIGHT FOLKS HERE THEY ARE! OUR TEN CONTESTANTS!"
"Only ten? Why so little?" Fergus asks.
"We sent out all the invitations, however only these ten responded. The others either politely rejected or didn't respond." Iduna explained.
"Hmm, I remember so many people being excited during the party about the tournament."
"As did I, it looks like a few of our current contenders have taken matters in to their own hands. Most likely they were either threaten, bribed or killed."
"Hmm, then the ten that are here-"
"Are the ones who couldn't be killed, threatened or bribed. In other words these ten will be the ones to decide the future of our family and the future of everyone else."
"Your family hoards a lot of the business trade routes and connections. Its not arrogant to say you currently dominate the business world. Yes, the winner of this tournament will change everything."
A/N: Alright another chapter down. I think after the next one we got maybe three or four more left. Not including the epilogue. So leave a review tell me what you thought of the chapter if you liked it or hated it. And without further ado I'll see you all on the next one. Bye for now.
