![]() Author has written 9 stories for Bleach, Kuroko no Basuke/黒子のバスケ, One Piece, and Hunter X Hunter. I’m a writer. I have been writing since I learnt how to put the stories I imagined in words, and I published them online for the first time when I discovered the existence of fanfics (and that writing them wasn’t an illegal thing that would lock me into jail forever). However, life “happened”, and I struggled to keep writing. You see, I’m a complicated person. I was the class’ weirdo, the quiet one that babbles on when you get to know her, the one that has higher grades and hides them ashamed because they are different from the other normal classmates’ grades. Really- my mother has told me that I even apologized once to my classmates for it. When everything seemed to crumble no matter what I did and tried to fix, I was utterly lost. No real friends (the girls were jealous, and the boys -the smart ones- I went with had their own thing), a shaky relationship with my parents (both worked all day and were too tired to listen to me) and the terrible start of my teenage years was irrevocably made worse by bullying, and the death of my first dog, Lili. We had adopted Lili 14 years before, and she was like the sister I couldn’t have. It went to the point I threw myself onto my hobbies with the desperation of someone who needs an escape, has found it, and doesn’t want to let go. I wrote a lot on those first years, and published some on Amor Yaoi and Fanfiction, but anxiety, depression, insomnia- and an apparent diagnostic as “Asperger” simply occupied my mind and my wellbeing so much I found myself with a writer’s block the size of the Everest. And it wasn’t just that I couldn’t write, I couldn’t do anything. I tried to get up, and I felt like my own body was betraying me. I tried to speak, and my throat closed up. Slowly, I got better. We got a second dog (named Shinobu by me the instant I saw her, the adorable German shepherd puppy hiding in the shadows of that van -she was from a farm-), and even after my cat Data died (he was the same age as Lili), I was already at rock bottom, and my parents learned to give me space. Constant daily arguments with my father stopped, my mother used her free day of work to check on me, and we started having “family talks”. It was around then that I started watching animes again. In a simple coincidence, while I was helping my mother clean the living room, we had the tv on and suddenly One Piece was on it. I stared as Nami told Luffy about Nico Robin leaving to save them, as a giant tsunami was raising behind Luffy (who was trapped between two buildings, how did that happen?), and I could barely believe it. I had the One Piece manga up to the start of the Water 7 saga, and still didn’t know what happened after. I took note of what hour the anime was on tv, and started watching it everyday. Not long after that, I remembered how I used to make my father put Naruto on the pc, so I tried to search for the animes online. One thing went to another, and watching One Piece and Naruto made me find out that apparently they were part of a “Big Three”. And then came Bleach. Bleach was the first time I understood Japanese while watching an anime. The first time I downloaded openings and endings and OSTs. The first time I bought the manga and tried to draw the characters with some success. It was also the first time I actually identified with the protagonist and not an extra- that was probably because both me and Ichigo have a July birthday, mine on the 8th and his on the 15th. I remember watching Rukia’s rescue at the same time Ace’s rescue was going on in the One Piece anime/manga. I remember convincing myself that Rukia’s went well so Ace’s would be too. I remember being so devastated by Ace’s death that I actually couldn’t pick up One Piece for more than a year. Like a good used-to-drown-into-other-hobbies person, I threw myself into Bleach fully. Naruto had so much filler and was going so slow at the time that it actually went under the other “Big Three” in my personal ranking. While my first ever serious fanfic was from Ao no Exorcist (a mere ten pages that were never followed on), the first one long enough to reach the hundred was from Bleach. It’s a childish thing, so cringe-y I’m unable to read more than a couple pages now, but at the moment I was so proud. I had also been strongly influenced by the DS game, Bleach The Third Phantom, and suddenly I was writing a Self-Insert without knowing it was a Self-Insert. I had five different Bleach fanfics, three of which never were published, but two of them were published at Fanfiction. “School Days” was “story 4”, a High School AU were this cute very Mary Sue girl would meet both Toshiro and Byakuya and be showered with attention (my crushes of the time are so obvious it’s embarrassing). I gave up on that one long time ago. Then, there was the one that changed everything- “Byakuya’s Girl”, now renamed “Byakuya’s Child” because I’m better at English and realized what the tittle was implying. In the original, Byakuya had a kid, a girl (shameless self-insert here), said girl would have a Rukongai friend, have Kyouraku and Ukitake as “uncles”, and later on at the Shinigami Academy would have a Noble friend too. It was kinda cliché, but well planned and thought out in the way someone who is finally mature enough to know what they want and how to write it can do. Luckily, it wasn’t as cringey as the other one, and it’s actually salvageable. I recently put it on my list of stories to rewrite and publish because “Kuchiki Izumi”, as the protagonist has been renamed, deserves to be known. At the time, though, was when the writer’s block struck. I had 17 chapters for Byakuya’s Girl and I couldn’t write more. I felt so ashamed of myself each time I looked at the website. A year went by, and then two years, then three. I convinced myself that no one would be waiting for me anymore, and forgot about it, and about publishing anything. Writing for myself became a very self-indulgent pastime of mine, and each time I became fixated with an anime, I wrote and wrote and kept writing. None of that was published, except some exceptions that received the writer’s block eventually too. I discovered that I was causing my own writer’s block by forcing myself to keep writing when my interest was already moving towards something else. It was so frustrating, but I decided that it didn’t matter, that I would just write whatever I wanted. That’s how we get to today. I’ve spent the last years writing everything I got my mind on. A lot of Self-Inserts that turned into OCs when I re-read, some OC-centric fanfics, a lot of “reincarnated into x universe” and some others “reincarnated into x universe as x character”. Approximately a year ago, I published a One-Shot, to test the waters. To prove myself I could. It was June, and at the moment of writing this, March of the next year, I still have new Kudos and Reviews and Followers thanks to that one. All this time, I have been talking myself into coming back here, to publish my other fanfics, but I have a lot. As in, more-than-fifty-how-the-heck-did-I-write-these a lot. Also, I’m terrible at thinking up titles that wouldn’t sound lame years later (and getting anxious over how bad they are), so in between one thing and the other, I doubt a lot about how to go about this. Do I just publish one chapter by chapter? Do I publish a lot of them? From different fandoms? From the same? What about when my fixation moves onto other fandoms and my readers have to wait until it comes back around? It’s been driving me mad these last few weeks to the point I actually wanted to give it up again. But you, the readers, don’t deserve this- to be left out of stories you could potentially get to love. Because I love my own stories. I’m even proud of some of them, of how the protagonist grows up from a scared child to a badass woman, and some of my accidental-or-not world domination (or upgrading, like my SI/OC as Fem!Luffy likes to say) fanfics are so worked on that I’ve spent more time on putting together the timeline that on editing the written scenes. And so, here I am, writing all this to 1, get it off my chest, 2, warn you, and 3, maaaaybe make you understand that I’m a complicated person, a complicated writer, but that I love writing and showing others my soul- my written stories- too much to ever really stop. I hope you can get to love my created characters and stories as much as I do. With love from this anxious and cries-every-time-she-gets-a-review writer, Ariadna -Eatbook Hoshi-Sora. Note to my Spanish readers: I’m really sorry. I don’t think I will write anything in Spanish any time soon, even though I did convince myself I would be able to translate my own fanfics while publishing them. It’s too much work because in a way it’s like rewriting it again, making sure everything makes sense, and that it doesn’t read weird. Maybe in a far away future, but writing in English has given me a freedom and comfy-ness that writing in Spanish doesn’t. Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/AriHoshiSora Easiest way to contact me, updates about fanfics and projects here. P-a-t-r-e-o-n: /EatbookHoshiSora To help me out if you want. You’ll have priority to get me to update the fic you want before the others. And don’t worry, the money is to get a better pc (and better house). Discord Invitation (delete the - ) ht-tps://di-scord.-gg/dHQMHyx The chatbox is in Spanish, but at the moment of writing this there’s only one person in there so we’ll probably change it when more people join. I have an account at Ao3 with the same username, and my fanfics will be published both here and there. |
