"Of the things I have seen, you are by far not the scariest, Goddess of the Sea." She bowed her head slightly in respect. Outside she appeared unfazed and calm, but inside she was a squealing fan girl who was fawning over the ethereal being. "I have had a fascination with the ocean ever since I was a child and I have heard many stories relating to the being who gave birth to both merfolk and sirens."
The air seemed to vibrate with the ethereal being's amused chuckle. "Well met," her voice suddenly grew cold as her eyes narrowed. "but do not think that your quick wit and flattery will not prevent me from unleashing my anger against you for what your race had done against my beloved!" Ice sprung from around her, covering the water in the blink of an eye, the sharp spikes destroying the chains confining both Anzu and Bakura. The sorcerer grunted as his size was returned to normal, causing him to lightly bounce and slide across the slippery surface but his wide eyes never once left the goddess towering above them even when Anzu ended up crashing into him. "The other humans, members of his own kind, killed him when they discovered our relationship." Her hands that held the merprinces gently cradled their unconscious forms, bringing them high enough so that her cheek briefly met theirs. "Our child, the proof of our love, was torn apart because of their sin! One child was born beautiful while the other unsightly, one elegant where the other was frightening, one held a heart of love and the other held a heart of hate!"
Anzu's cerulean eyes flashed angrily as she found her footing and rose to her full height. "Yes, it was horrible what they did, but every living thing fears what it doesn't know! They were trying to protect him, they probably thought you were going to eat him or something, but it was his choice to take that blow that was meant for you!" She ignored the hushed warnings coming from the sorcerer, keeping her eyes locked upon the goddess as she bent at the waist while reaching to place the twins upon the sandy beach. "There are some tales that describe you as haunting, having nearly driven him mad from your songs, that the entire town at the time thought he would surely drown himself if it meant he could get a decent night's rest! They were simply looking out for him, trying their best to protect him, just as he was doing the same for you when he put himself between his own family and you!"
The goddess flinched slightly as the outline of gold around the human girl intensified, feeling her own magical energy wane slightly in response. "You are not of my line yet you are demanding use of my power?"
"My life was spared because of your descendant's sacrifice! If it wasn't for her, I would have died as an infant!"
"And why would I care for the lone life of an infant human child?"
A brow twitched. "Because my mother saved her! Your descendant, the mother of Atem and Yugi, was beached upon the sand in labor when a human happened to be nearby. Instead of walking away, the human stopped and helped to deliver two healthy boys! Years passed but they still remained friends, even bringing me to meet her after my birth, but I was so sickly that none of the doctors or medicines in the world had hope of saving my life!" Tears spilled down her cheeks as she looked to the shore where the two were still unconscious, eyes softening ever so slightly as her gaze fell upon Atem. "I found her sketchbook and diary after my parents were killed by one of your sirens, she goes on and on about the beautiful water dweller who saved her child in hopes to repay the debt between them since the lives of both of her children had been spared! One of her sons had followed her to the secret meeting place and offered his scale to a lowly human girl like me. We were complete strangers yet he hadn't thought twice to pluck that scale from his tail!" Her gaze hardened as she returned it to the goddess. "It's been centuries since you lost your beloved, I know it must hurt, but lashing out at me now isn't going to help you in the slightest! The only thing hatred and anger accomplish is spreading more pain and suffering!" Though she slid and nearly tumbled to the ice, Anzu made her way towards the sandy beach and placed herself in front of their forms, arms open wide. The cold has spread up her legs, the loss of shoes leaving her barefoot, legs trembling from the ice beneath and lack of clothing to shield the rest of her from the chilly clouds that formed a fog. "If you attack now, then you're proving that you're no different than the humans who killed your beloved!"
For a moment, just a split second, the goddess felt her breath catch as the human girl was replaced by the image of her beloved. Their courage was the same, shinning brightly within their eyes as they stared up at her, causing the heart in her chest to give a thump of pain.
"My pleasure!" Bakura's eyes flashed with glee as his power manifested into a harpoon and thrust it with a mighty roar.
Wide cerulean eyes locked upon the weapon as it came closer. This was it…she was going to die. Her chest rose with a deep inhale through her nose. "Go ahead, strike me down! I'm not going to move from this spot if it means that I can save them from feeling the pain you spread!"
