"Let him go!" They had somehow ended in a heap, her arms and legs wrapped around his being, effectively immobilizing them as those white eyes stared up at her in hatred as a hiss rose up his throat. Every hissed curse that passed between his lips made her heart crack no matter how hard she tried to ignore it. The Goddess of the Sea, a being that was supposedly misunderstood by the humans who envied or despised the relationship between her and the man she had grown to love, was truly a piece of work. That's not him, she repeated within her mind for the hundredth time, Atem isn't the one looking at you like this, he isn't the one hurting you. "Controlling him like this is wrong, you're abusing your power over the merfolk just so you can hide like a coward in the shadows until it's time to feast!" Her cerulean eyes narrowed, tightening her hold when the goddess used Atem's mouth to curse her lowly. "Seems like an awful lot of work just for a lowly human."
"Wretched human, do not flatter yourself!" A pulse of magical energy and cold caused Anzu's grip to slip just enough so that they could break her hold. "I aim to destroy the entirety of the human race for the sin they have committed! It matters not whom I use, the denizens of the sea are all my children and they will obey me if they do not wish to rejoin my flesh!" They rose upwards with a thrash, her legs screaming as the scales covering him stood upright, digging into her skin. Pain erupted across her body as they used brute strength to force her into the sand, tail wrapping to tightly around her legs she was sure they would snap as their combined weight caused the sand underneath to cave. "This child, Atem, is the eldest offspring of my wretched daughter who dared to steal away my scales to create more merfolk so it would be natural that he would be my first choice to transform so that I may make the best use of his innate abilities."
The hairs on Anzu's body were standing upright not from the cold but in fear as those blazing eyes stared down at her. Her eyes wanted to close, not wanting to see his face so shadowed and unrecognizable as it came close enough that the chill of his breath wafted her face. Fear crawled up her throat, threatening to choke her, but she swallowed it back down as a tug came from within her chest. He had to still be in there somewhere.
"I am not without mercy," they hissed, his cheek rubbing against her own. "your final moments could be spent with the one you care for most, all you must do is yield."
Her lips quivered. All her life she had fought to prove others wrong when her capabilities were put into question, one of the qualities many had frowned upon, but she couldn't see a way out of this. He was unlike anyone she'd ever met. Yes he was a merman, a freakin prince of Atlantis for crying out loud, but the title may as well have no existed for all she cared. Not once did he ridicule her for acting the way she did and he didn't even scold her when she had gone off on her own. Once again he had simply accepted her choice of action without question. Tears spilled down her cheeks as she turned her head to the side so that their cheeks were no longer touching. "Please…let me speak to him," she choked, a sob wrangling up her throat. "I…I can't bear seeing him like this…"
The only answer she received was a chilling laugh.
She prayed with everything she had that this would be enough to break him free, at least enough that she could tell him what needed to be said. "Mamorubeki hito to sekai ga aru node, mō uso o tsuku koto wa dekimasen…"
