PART 1: PROLOGUE: SCENE 3: Garreg Mach Monastery
As Izuku ran, he heard struggling in the distance. He knew that Kachaan would put up a fight if he came across these knights of Seiros, no matter what. It was because of his friend's impulsiveness that filled the One For All inheritor with fear. From what he could quickly gather, the church of Seiros was not too keen on such anomalies such as themselves and as such were on thin ice already. Izuku had to make sure Katsuki didn't damn them all.
Hearing an explosion, Izuku picked up his pace. That is, until he reached a small clearing. In the center of a cluster of knights was an enraged and subdued Bakugo. Said boy was mouthing off numerous expletives that would make even the toughest sailors blush and definitely too many to recount. Once the ashen blonde's eyes locked with Izuku's, all that resistance stopped and the knight could start pulling him away.
The glare the boy was wearing only intensified with a deep rage that burst forth, "You had something to do with this, Deku, didn't you!" Bakugo harshly accused, his escape attempt reignited.
"K-Kachaan, I-I didn't do anything." Izuku quickly defended, taking a step back as the knights started restraining the boy again.
"LIKE HELL YOU DID!" Katsuki screamed, pushing back even harder but to no avail.
"Now what is going on here!" Came a demanding voice that was quickly becoming familiar to Izuku. Out of the woods sped walked Seteth, more knights in tow who quickly joined their brothers in arms in subduing the teen.
"S-Sorry sir." Izuku quickly apologized to the man, muttering all the way. "K-Kachaan c-can be q-quite aggressive at t-times."
"MY NAME'S KATSUKI BAKUGO, MOPHEAD, THE FUTURE NUMBER ONE HERO IN THE WORLD!" Bakugo shouted still.
Seteth narrowed his eyes at the outburst, clearly disliking this… problem child, already. Before he could reprimand him though, Rhea, Ochako and Todoroki came into the clearing. Rhea still had her dignified appearance, Uraraka was slightly nervous and Todoroki had an ice cold exterior as always.
"Seteth, Izuku," Rhea started, "I assume he's another one?" Rhea asked her advisor and hero trainee, glancing towards the pinned teen on the ground.
"It would appear so." Seteth replied, also giving a glace to Bakugo.
"Y-yeah, he's our classmate." Izuku explained. Rhea along with Seteth seemed to take note of that.
"Classmate you said?" Rhea inquired.
"Y-Yes. W-We all were learning to become Heroes. Back in our world." Midoriya elaborated.
Rhea took a moment to consider this new development. It would upset Seteth, absolutely, but it would give her greater information about these eight wayward souls. Seteth once again seemed to notice his superior's thoughtful look, already not liking what she was thinking.
"Rhea-" Seteth was about to start before being interrupted.
"The church of Seiros has something that–should our definition of a hero be similar–could be of use to the eight of you." The archbishop said, her advisor taken aback by what she was saying. "Our Officer's Academy is located within Garreg Mach and teaches nobles and commoners alike, different ways of fighting and conducting themselves in war and diplomacy. If you wish, something could be arranged."
"Rhea! We know nothing about them! How do we know they're trustworthy?" Seteth exclaimed.
"I have made my decision, Seteth. I know worrying comes naturally to you, but there is truly no need." Rhea reassured him once again, "These children are in need and have done nothing wrong, it is our duty to help."
Seteth needed to take a moment. He knew the risks but also knew that there was no swaying Rhea now. Sighing as the stress was getting to him already, he relented.
"I will begin preparations for their arrival then." Seteth commented, defeated in this war of words turning to return to the monastery.
"Alright, what's in this for you?" Todoroki coldly asked, knowing there had to be a catch in all this 'too good to be true' nonsense.
"This is the first time that anyone in Fodlan other than the goddess has come from the stars." Rhea explained, "The church wishes to understand how this happened."
"What would we do?" Uraraka asked now.
"Attend the Officer's Academy. I know it may not be what you all are used to, but it's the least I can offer until a further understanding of your situation can be determined." Rhea responded.
"ALLRIGHT, COULD ANY OF YOU EXTRAS TELL ME WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON THEN!" Katsuki butted in. Izuku would have found it impressive he remained silent for so long until he realized he had managed to worm his way loose in the pile of knights once again.
"Yeah… There's a lot of explaining to do." Izuku said, scratching the back of his neck.
From that point, Bakugo was released, thoroughly pissed off as always, while some of the mages went to work on Yaoyorozu, Jiro, Iida and Kirishima and brought some stretchers for the four. The walk to the monastery was an informative one with exchanges of knowledge and culture all around. Once the veritable fortress of Garreg Mach came into view, the hero students were awed completely. Izuku and Uraraka jaws dropped, Shoto was impressed and Bakugo surprisingly gave credit to its size.
Reaching the last gate and entering the small marketplace, some students in their gold and black uniforms were wandering about. The Officer's Academy students kept their eyes on the eight in the middle of the knights of Seiros, mostly due to their strange clothing and Todoroki, ever the observant one, obviously could tell they were out of place.
Izuku for his part was conversing with Rhea along with Uraraka, both asking numerous questions about this new world. Izuku on special powers, Crests, as he came to know and Uraraka wondering about the rest of the monastery and academy. Bakugo meanwhile was grumbling along, constantly watched by the knights not responsible for the remaining four unconscious students.
At some point, Iida, Momo, Jiro and Kirishima were all taken up to the monastery's infirmary while the rest of the heroes followed Rhea and Seteth to the Audience chambers.
"I won't waste much of your time," Rhea started once she and Seteth were in their spots at the head of the glass stained room. "I offer you and your compatriots a position in this Academy. Once again, I know this isn't the ideal situation but the church is willing to help you in any way we can." She spoke with kindness, "All I need now is for your hearts to make the choice."
"Just so you are all aware, the teachings of Seiros, while not strictly required to be followed to attend the academy, are highly encouraged to be considered while on monastery grounds." Seteth explained, still against the idea of these mysterious teens being allowed to attend so easily. "I suggest taking up some reading if you do accept."
Bakugo for his part just scoffed away the idea, Todoroki was wary of any subtle meaning in his words, Uraraka was thoughtful and Izuku knew this was their best shot at finding a way home.
Seeing his classmates' reaction as other than their normal personalities, there was no opposition to the idea, Izuku spoke, "We accept."
"Your hearts have made their choice then. May the Goddess smile upon you all." Rhea said with a smile. "Seteth, would you care to show our newest house around.
"As you wi- I'm sorry? House?" Seteth automatically started before catching her words. Looking to the archbishop, the advisor could tell she had planned this.
"Yes, Seteth, a new house." Rhea stated.
"But Rhea, we have no professor, nor the space for such an addition." Seteth pointed out, trying to find anything to make the Archbishop reconsider.
The archbishop however had a rebuttal planned, "As you do bring up some excellent points, the separation of our newest group of students would do little to help the situation at hand." She said, looking to the four before her. "As well, as they do not come from this world, they are not beholden to a single house."
"R-right," Izuku added, understanding the first part. "We've been training together already and, yeah, it'd be good for us to stick together, but houses?" Bakugo audibly dismissed the Deku but was ignored nonetheless.
"Each region of Fodlan has its own academy house. The Black Eagles of the Adrestian Empire, the Blue Lions of the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus and the Golden Deers from the Leicester Alliance." Seteth explained, a sigh following, "The archbishop is right though, as you do not hail from any of these regions, you are not aligned to any of the three houses here."
"Uhh can we have a minute please, t-to think this over? I-It's still a lot to take in." Izuku asked, to Rhea's nod of approval.
As the four came together in a huddle, Bakugo spoke first.
"So let me get this straight." He said, calmer than he should be, "While I was blowing off some damn steam, the three of you extras somehow were able to get Mophead and Archbitch to bring us here for schooling?" As Katsuki said this, Seteth immediately gained quite the scowl but refrained from doing anything by Rhea's hand. "I don't need any of their damn help to be the number one hero."
"We have nowhere to go and we know nothing of Fodlan. What would we even do?" Uraraka asked as a counterpoint to Bakugo.
"There's something else with this church..." Todoroki tacked on, the others were unsure what to make of it so they ignored it for the time being.
With a sigh, Izuku said, "This is a battle academy, a place to get stronger."
That got Katsuki's attention via an eyebrow raise. Let it be known that during the trip to the monastery, Bakugo wasn't paying attention to what the Archbishop and her advisor were saying, instead opting for grumbling all the way. This action also didn't go unnoticed by Rhea who added something the blonde just couldn't resist.
"At the end of this moon, in a few days time, is a mock battle between the houses to gauge the student's progress and abilities. It is something to look out for."
A maniacal grin then appeared on the explosive blonde's face, teeth bared at hearing the news. "Oh I'm WINNING that." Bakugo declared.
"It is a requirement to be part of house to participate." Rhea added, incentivizing the deal more.
"If we want to be heroes, we need to take whatever we can get." Izuku said, to both Todoroki's and Uraraka's nods.
Rhea took the green's words as his acceptance, "Very well, from this day forward, I hereby establish, The Green Fox House. And I place Izuku Midoriya as the house leader.
There was silence from the group, the shock of the announcement taking a moment to register
"DEKU!" Both Uraraka and Bakugo shouted. Both for varying different reasons while Todoroki remained stoic as always.
Izuku's eyes widened when he heard the declaration. "W-Wait, w-why me?" He uttered.
"There is something inside you, Izuku, that will make you a great leader one day." Rhea said her reasoning, "It is the goal of the Officer's Academy to cultivate that innate drive and desire and it's something I hope you accept.
"I-I-Thank you, Lady Rhea." Izuku bowed, much further than either she or Seteth would have expected.
"It is my pleasure. The goddess has chosen this path for you and I will do what I can to help you and the rest of your friends on this journey." Rhea responded, a smile adorning her face again. "Now Seteth, could you please show them around the monastery."
"As you wish, Lady Rhea." Seteth said, still unsure to the idea of such outsiders with a flimsy story at best being students.
The advisor escorted the newest Officer Academy students out of the chambers with out question though. This left Rhea alone with her thoughts.
"Mother… Who is that boy?"
