Author's Note: And here we have the conclusion of my tiny little detail fix-it from part 1. It hurts the heart, but I found that even if Loki pulled Mobius through the first portal, the sting of him falling through the second would still happen. Though, I feel that if Mobius was there and got there a tad earlier or right with Ravonna... deals could have been made. Oh wells.

The Sting of Betrayal

Loki had no idea how Mobius found them, but it was a moment that he would always be grateful for. What wasn't expected was that his handler promptly slapped a time collar around him and ordered two minutemen to contain him the second he and Sylvie stepped through the portals rather than allowing him to walk freely beside him.

They swarmed Sylvie in a heartbeat, taking every precaution they possibly could outside of killing her. They slowed her down to one-sixteenth speed, time collared her, and slapped four guards around her, all in a handful of seconds.

The kicker was that they both came in willingly and compliant, hands raised, and they didn't resist, yet were still met with hostility.

When they separated Loki from Sylvie, he could feel his temper rise, the relief of being found melting away. Mobius walked slightly ahead of him, expression stoic yet the grip on the folder in his hand was firm. There was no need for this.

"I see your welcome committee hasn't improved its hospitality," Loki hissed, making a point to jerk his shoulder forward to fight the guard. "I thought you and I had an agreement."

"We did, but as you should know well by now, things tend to shift out of your favor when you grill people," Mobius replied, voice stiff.

"Clearly there's been a misunderstanding on your end," Loki said, glaring at his handlers back.

"Call it whatever you will, Loki," Mobius replied, pausing by the door of the film room to face him. "Because I honestly do not care to hear it."

Mobius stepped aside while pulling open the door so the minutemen could drag him in first. Loki hated this room, so it wasn't a surprise he was forced back into it. Mobius tinkered with his TemPad, having a crimson portal open nearby.

"You want to know why? Because you are nothing but an asshole, and a bad friend," Mobius continued, gesturing to the minutemen to toss him through the ominous colored portal.

Loki looked at the agent with barely veiled hurt in his eyes, and he resisted the guards attempt of pushing him in. "Mobius, you are not listening!"

Mobius raised his hand to stop the minutemen. "Let's hear one last desperate lie from the King of Lies."

Another pang of hurt resonated throughout Loki, and it took everything he had to not try and blurt the truth to Mobius right then; it wouldn't be believed.

"I brought you with me!" Loki said through clenched teeth. "At Roxxcart… We could've lost her… I didn't have to do it."

He watched Mobius, openly showing his desperation and need to salvage whatever trust he had established with him. Mobius approached, placing a stiff hand over his shoulder, the guards releasing him, and the relief Loki felt with the contact was welcomed.

"You didn't have to run away with her, either," Mobius whispered venomously.

Wrapping his hand around the nape of Loki's neck, Mobius shoved him through the portal.
