LARPing in Your Name
"Sir Mike! We must make haste to the nearest pub, for the sun is hanging high in the sky and thy mother beckoned us to be there by now," Will said loudly, whipping their wizards cloak out as they turned around to walk backwards to face Mike.
Their best friend and neighbor was distracted by the wolves exhibit, watching a pair play-fight and rolling in the lush green grass. Will approached him, bumping their shoulder lightly against his.
"You alright?"
Mike looked their way and nodded, squaring his shoulders and raising his staff. "The wolves have provided me the way! We must pass the treacherous pit of gators to reach our journey's end!" He pointed to the right. "Onward, my friend!"
Will smiled, pulling their homemade sword from its sheath and throwing it in the air. "Charge!"
The pair wandered through the swampland portion of the zoo, pausing briefly to mock fight the large alligator statue on display there and barely making it out of the grasp of the Gator Kings lair. They took a few moments to overlook the small makeshift quarry where the creatures lazed about just under the water's surface, their eyes and nose poking out to look over their surroundings.
"We have conquered the beast!" Mike announced as they arrived at the zoo's restaurant.
Will's mom had claimed a table already and had drinks and containers of jello waiting for them. "Are my warriors enjoying themselves?"
Mike and Will nodded excitedly, reaching for their lemonades to quench their thirst.
"Good. Any idea what you'd like for lunch?"
The pair looked over the menu and told her what they would like. When she left, Will turned to their friend and reached for Mike's hand under the table.
"I'm sorry the others couldn't come," they said, giving Mike's hand a squeeze.
Mike shrugged, looking at their entwined hands and feeling his cheeks tinge slightly pink. "I am glad I got to spend it with you, Will."
Will smiled, scooting a little bit closer to him, they raised their clasped hands just high enough for them to brush a light kiss over Mike's knuckles. The matching MW mark on their wrist, normally looking like a scar, shimmered a cerulean blue at the loving contact made between them.
