'Oh the sands of time can weave
A moment of the unknown,
Shall the depth of the clock's ticks be,
The calling for safety's home.'
Phase 1: Upon a Hidden Impulsion
The lights were dim, calm music played and concentration took front and center. The Earth clashed between them both, while a chex mix bowl was passed back and forth, between two at part of the sectional. The crunching and munching didn't deter either of the ladies, who kept their focus on what sat between them on the table. Another was recording the scene, uncaring how much space it took up on the memory card, while she brought the glass bottle to her lips, of a chilled cream soda, taking a sip. Thank goodness she had brought the cell stand, this time. Last time she'd played this game, her hands were cramped afterward, though thoroughly massaged in the process, which wasn't too much of a problem. No protests there.
"We're..almost at the bot.." The bowl was snatched, with a trip to the kitchen and the other bag of traditional opening to refill, toss the bag and return to the silent action. She handed the bowl over, only to have it confiscated by her girlfriend. "..tom." She finished the second half of the word, with the bowl given back, but lost once more, from a side-swiped sidekick.
"At this rate we are gonna have to start up karting again and order more pizza." She kept a hand down at her side counting on her fingers. "Four. Threeeeee. Two…" She kept her voice all but a whisper.
"Two pep, two Hawaiian, two marvel.." As the requests came, all from one individual. She just rolled her eyes.
"Seven. Gotcha. Ya two..wanna.." The spectators and chex chewers all but jumped straight out of their seats to grab their shoulder bags, with the phone left to provide a feed while another was unlocked and linked so they could watch or hear the commentary while clocking out to go grab grub. "Be baaaaaack! I got yours covered too, 'health bar' so no worries. We'll get ya a salad too." A thumbs up indicated she was in the right. "Tootles!"
The three were out the door, with it locked by the reader and she moved a hand to the side of her left leg, to click on the small remote and secure things on their inner end. Something told her, by the sounds of it...yep. Her 'midnight Lambo ride' had just left the building.
"You're brave, letting her.." The blonde was cut off.
"She's not skilled like you, as a 'crash-test.."
"R-U-de." She stuck her tongue out at the raven haired goddess. That was a new thing, discovered, around the same time the new 'Discovery Plus' launched. This had led to all of them sitting around to calibrate each of their lists to not one, not two, but three to four devices at once. The minute the genius had acquired the service, she had made sure they ALL had access. 'Link together? Sync together.'
"Cute. Make. A...move." She sighed, finishing off her pomegranate Izze, stepping away to pick another, with the other bottle empty. "Tab or cap?"
"Ummm..sparkle me um...peach?" A head was turned, raised and the biggest smile appeared to the one coming back over with two of the same. "So you wanna sparkle with me?"
"No-P-e. I don't bite to suck on..that." The tabs were popped and she handed one over to the jaw dropped competition, sipping hers, smirking behind it.
"Recording.." That was about all she could muster up to respond with. A snicker told her everything she needed to know, then belly laughter and finally the clearing of three throats.
"Hey Ken, if you are GONNA grow bigger balls of them all and ask OUT my sister 'SuperBarbie' you best ride.."
"Alex!" Came four simultaneous name hollars and a snatched pillow designated to attend to a hidden face of a rather red cheeked Kryptonian.
"Riiiiiiiide WHAT Alexandra?" She looked under the coffee table to see a turned away kitten-curled pillow-faced blonde far too embarrassed to show herself to her.
"Ummmm...Lena? Are you wanting to um…'ride' Kara?" Everyone choked, except for the groaning one still buried.
"I...um...didn't need...to...know.." Alex grumbled.
"Dear? Buttercup? The Road? Yeah, that thing? Pizza pit, two blocks if you must know, as in two behind us." Kelly stated. "My phone capturing her 'hidden' agenda?"
"I think she's out of the line of 'zoom' fire, but she took my rook with her to the floor." Lena shared, just as the chess piece returned to the table, while the blonde sat up, but didn't remove the pillow. It had been fun, with the quick reflexes at that, to snap a photo of that hand and the object joint sessioned before another hasty retreat while stunning blue hues returned to her view.
"Ya know Lena, which...this SHOULDN'T leave my lips but what the hell. I'm certain if she lets the golden lochs down off the top of the tower..you could PROBABLY get a better chance of the mile-high club."
"Aaaaaaa...lex!" Theeeeeere went the 'duck and cover' routine again. Kelly followed up, causing the driver to be lost to a different 'Silent Hill.'
"Well, she IS Kryptonian, babe. I mean, everything is stronger on her right? So if Lena Luthor gets a good handle on her hair and tugs, it won't rip out and who KNOWS, your Sister may be INTO that sort of thing." The former Director wasn't the only one left mute. The pillow had dropped, the jaws of both women, including the one sat up again, might as well be on the floor and someone had honked and yelled a tad profanity while revving up to pass the vehicle Alex was currently attempting to drive. Nia, their backseat passenger, had yet to find any proper wording. "Well, if your hair was longer, we would test.."
"NOPE! Noooooo no no. DON'T need to hear about that, thank you!" Dreams didn't need it to be THAT descriptive for her imagination to run rampant.
"Alright folks. Fuel, food then...fore.."
"HEY! You FUCKING MORON! CAR! Ya KNOW? That thing on wheels you ALMOST hit with MY precious cargo?! FUCK YOU TOO! Piece of shit!" Honking was heard, which resulted in a card handed to Kelly. "Swipe this babe, would you?" Cussing continued, followed by the door opening and slammed shut, with Nia rolling down her window, doing her best to hide that she had her phone out to record the action for popcorn and movies later.
"Everyone shush." She told the rest of them, with Kelly sighing. Until..
"LISTEN bitch, you best keep that baby you SHOULDN'T be behind the wheel of at home, where Daddy could keep it and YOU off the roa.."
"DAMN! Bro, She punched your ass hard!"
"SHUT UP! Lucky shot you little tight trotting money sniffing bitch. C'mere, THIS Daddy can drive and teach you when to cross that line, bend over and.."
"WHOA! Whoaaaa doll! Ma'am. Ms. Eaaaasy. We're..we're really sorry Ms. We'll uh...get our uh.."
"Stupid cun.." This time the man trying to cuss out 'DEADLY' Danvers learned the meaning of 'you scream like a girl' when he did just that, with a squealed whimper attached in tandem afterwards.
"Can you fellas do this FBI gal a fave? Take Squeakums home and tuck the tuckered out baby girl in. Maybe to the ER first. I might have flattened her holly micro-jollies. Have a nice night kids. Ladies, want anything? Ohhhh yeah, we are grabbing grub. Sorry babe. I'll take care of the gas right now. Love you. Kar, anything with a duo of pea-sized corn nuts ever does shit like that? Don't need any 'Super' skills, to get your Big Sis to drive theirs dented and cracked for keeps."
"Um. Uh...um….kay." The blonde gulped, but saw the shock twist up two corners with pearly whites. "Lee?"
"Name your wage! You're hired!" With glee and pride and a tad swoon for the step ABOVE 'badass' had her in deep contemplation to kick the game up a notch and create an invisible body armor, to have Alex protected with, on top of what the 'Hand of the Soldier' could offer.
"I expect compensation, if we are gonna discuss such things. Babe, we need a bigger place to bring kids into the picture, though….damn I love our loft too. Can we keep the loft as well? If need be, I could rent it out. I'll take another bike though. We need a second car and NOT no 'soccer mom' one. Sorry honey. We'll need a savings account started up with a six-figure tag, beginning with a three. I'd like a sail boat with a cabin. OH! I'd also like my rate to start in the eight-figure budget annually. Might have to feed the bottomless pit if she visits or hell, come to babysit. Can I borrow your jet too?"
"Uh…." Blue to green kept a sea of speechless waves rolling with a steady wind of contemplative confusion.
"It was the jet, wasn't it. Okay. Okay, forgo the request for the jet. How many vacation homes do you own?"
"Alex!" Both in the vehicle let the driver have it, when the conversationalist kept up her calling of requests, before saying 'toodles' for the time being. A simple waiting game brought their game back into play, with a charged momentum attached to the CEO's card soon to be acknowledged by the infamous 'you've got mail' alert.
"Don't worry. She doesn't have a pilot license and I wouldn't leave her in charge of my second way of flying to begin with." The blonde didn't need to ask about the first, though couldn't help but smile at being 'top' of the raven-haired beauty's list. "Always top when it comes to that. As for the rest? Sorry Darling. I will always TOP at supreme." A gulp, a blush and then a squeak to hide face in the picked up pillow again kept Lena's grin wide with pride. 'Game..'
"Leeeeeee..whyyyyyyy must you DO that.." The Kryptonian groaned, muffled to her appeasement.
"Does this mean, you are a 'pillow biter' to refrain from that volume in the series?" Groans continued. 'Set..' The pillow came down, with narrowed attention, while a few feathers were blown to the side, where it had indeed been torn by powerful teeth.
"I don't bite.." Did this powerhouse gain a pair when she wasn't looking? The next move was made. Except.. "..much. Checkmate." Eyes studied the board, taking in every square, along with the pieces to the side captured by both sides. As if the blonde had read her mind, the smile brighter than the sun itself, shined through on one..single..word. "Match."
"Buuuuuuurrrrrnnnnn!" Came the announcement, paired in claps and laughter. The genius, matched out, stood to walk over and turn the phone over so the screen was left face down, not before ending the feed. She respectfully took the loss, still marveling how her best friend had beat her at her strongest competitive subject. Though she did chuckle at the feathers upon the floor.
"I guess I was in need of Angel Soft after all." While she was up, the bowl of Hugs was brought back over, caught off guard when a comment was invited in by her ridiculous response with a tissue container to the side, not of the same category though.
"I guess shit happens when you're schooled in my way of strategies." That was it, by that remark and she pulled the bowl back, but not quick enough. A pile in one hand was set to the side of her challenger's brew. She was just about to toss one over the line, when one head tilt, turn and fierce expression had caught every ounce of her attention.
"Super?" The terror though, on the hero's face, worried her greatly. "Kara? Go." Before the suit had even materialized, a wind tunnel had collided with her living room. It knocked her back some, but that was the least of concerns.
She didn't waste one minute, gathering her wits and balance about her, yanking the piece off the side table and slipping it into her ear, clicking twice and issuing a command. "Tower up?" Lena waited a moment, then two and after three counts of sixty, a voice came over.
"Reading. We're secure. What's up?" Before the CEO could fill them in on the turn of events, a ding struck her phone and she sucked in a sharp intake of breath, at the footage brought on the screen. "Shit! Tower match. We're in-route."
"So am I. Hope?" The cracks, rush of what was no doubt turbulence disruptions, and heavy breaths that shouldn't be present, had who they were attempting to reach, answering in anxiety's grasp.
"It's bad! Teams are TOO far out! Not enough first responders! I'm going in! Guys, the SOONER the BETTER! Rao...please let me..NOT be..too late." They ALL..hoped.._
The gathering crowd kept eyes on her, as best they could, but at the speed she was rushing in and out of the billowing smoky newer science establishment, she dared not let up on the task. The scents, Rao the fumes, were bad enough and for each and every person she pulled out of the dangerous atmosphere, the further in she went and the worse it grew. Remembering well on Krypton, the cycles in her father's lab, warranted caution as to what powers she did and didn't use now, knowing one wrong move and BOOM. With lives at stake, no risk was worth making miscalculated measures.
"Supergirl!" Another lab technician had been plucked out to be set on a stretcher, when a rather familiar face popped up with a cavalry of emergency personnel. A quick glance, three black gloved fingers up and when she soared back through the pit of Hades' playground, she prepared for the oncoming voice. "Status?"
"A few dozen more, Boss." Kara informed her sister, who wasn't the only one listening, dashes in wretched ashes had been the course, dropping it to a duo. "Make that TWO dozen now." She picked up the chatter around her sister though, even through all the noises from the destructive forces inside, as well as those calling out for help. "Hamilton's REALLY gonna need some more tanks." The hero explained, flying down another burning hall, to the horrific coughing and gasping, gathering another into her arms to take off back outside. It would have been nice to use maximum velocity, but the building couldn't survive what she could dish out with 'Super' speed. The blonde went back in, taking to the truest of darker more restrictive air spaces and where the chemicals were the worst of the worst. Her eyes stung a little, but Kara shoved that discomfort back as far as she could, when laying number sixty-two down on another of the stretchers. She briefly heard the barked orders of Amelia, informing her sister, in code, she believed there were five more down below.
"You're gonna be chem washed to a T, I hope you know. I'll have her be the one manning the controls on the 'Super' soaker too." The hidden meaning behind the policy didn't go without notice, when picturing the inner smirk from Alex. "Just Sayin'. In the meantime, I REMEMBER curses in Kryptonese, oh dearest Sister of mine."
"Thought that was MY job Alexandra." It may have been hot as hell, if not the temp in the center of an active volcano, but her face still went red from the comment.
"Really guys? Keep the gutter where gutters lie. Good grief. Supergirl, do you need my...projective skills?" Kara flew out another three, then the fourth and dashed back in, just as she heard the coughing and followed its vicinity. "Supergirl?"
"I'm alright. Ugh, stenches. I'm okay. Thank you though Dreamer. Got one left, from what it looks like. They MIGHT have a tank on. It WREAKS down here! Be out shortly. Stand by guys." She heard the beeping in her ear, sighing. They really needed a few more methods to charge their comms. Go figure. Hers was just about dead, which didn't help matters when cracks, crashes and small explosions were going off all around her. Shards from different objects flew every which direction and worse, steam and smoke from toxicities, were shrouding the air in their potency. "Fo..focus Kara Zor-El." She said it once, twice and for her own sanity, about ten more times, hearing the coughs stop and with that silence, the Kryptonian stopped dead in her hovering movements. "Oh no! No...come on. Come on.." Next to the woman, on their side with her body still, was none other than a small tank and oxygen mask. Just a standard mask was over their nose and mouth, with goggles by strands of long dark hair no longer tied back. Strangely though..
This scientist, chemist and probably boss knowing that she was the last so deep inside, was breathing..normal. "Wh..wha in..in.." Kara's voice fled, as did her balance and before she could blink, something struck her so badly it sent her body catapulting backwards, crashing into equipment and shattering the massive and industrial strength lab table as if it was cheap wood held together with simple staples. Splinters of that metal were everywhere, with her body just as still as the one of the woman she had been prepared to take out of there. That body, no LONGER there.
The white coat fell, as did the scientist's badge, in need no more and on the scattered mess along the lab floor. Instead, a blue as the darkest shade of cerulean ever seen in gorgeous Kryptonian eyes, colored the rolled sleeved button down shirt, tucked into black jeans, covered the being that stood over her conquest. Her blues though, were much lighter than most human eyes and not as outworldly as those she had seen with many of her travels. Certainly, they didn't glow as hers did. She hummed a tune of the classical rendition, smiling with such devilish intention, while her feet left the floor and she waved both hands, to..set the stage. As if she was the conductor to the greatest of cosmic eve's symphonies, did those hand movements carry on, when she turned her body until she was in a prone position hovering over her secret prize. Slowly descending, did the most unique of beaded braids drop from her shoulder and over the symbol her shining illuminated orbs now focussed on.
"Mmmmmm..well, well, well. Hi there. Such 'skills' you possess. Divine. Delicious." A quick close of eyes, twirl of fingers, left the space she and her toy were in, sealed with a signature grin speaking volumes to all she took possession of. Fires remained in flow, as did the smoke and steam, like time had simply...stopped. "Show me." Eyelids slipped back, but not an ounce did the one below her move other than that, while she gazed into such wonderful majestic blue orbs. One quick snap and all light was extinguished, to leave them in the darkness she loved to play in. "Aren't YOU a sight, for my DELIGHT-FUELED eyes. Screams will not come, nor shall those that depend on you to do their bidding. Bound, oh bound thee be. Lock to key. Key to key. Locked into a keylock binding." She swirled her fingers, whispering what would turn the tides of perspective and with that done, she lay beneath the radiant creature, who now held the prone position. Neither mattered, since the abyss they were in had no floor or ceiling, or wall to hold them in. "Different you are, to those I have thread into such playground webs. Stunning. A beau, without a thorn in any way. Certainly, how tastes can change, though sweet I am certain you still are. But a child regardless, through cycles, years or sands of any time. An hourglass continual, content to pour and..pooooouuur how it should, for those outside it's reach nevermore."
She reached up to her own head and ran two fingers and thumb, from back to front of the black hat's side rim, while turning their figures sideways, still facing but slanted, now inside a black sphere glittering with the tiniest of star-like matters. "Such answers, without questions to follow. Such questions without any answer in existence. Right?" She rotated them, turning and turning like an upended wheel, slowly done so but casually entertaining for her. They stopped, both upside down, but now inside a twisting cage of wrought iron bars, remaining still while it moved for them. Candlesticks were wick faced downward, but hovering, where one by one a bloodied fire sparked to life at each tip. The bottom of each candle seemed to drip upward, with blood and a blue liquid not known to the world of man or woman, for that matter child. For each drop released, did the tiniest of spheres spread and glow, like her orbs. But now, it wasn't just hers that did so anymore. Neither had yet to blink, in no need to do so. "Shall I taste? Perhaps.."
The hold's lock snapped, bringing back sound but not sight. She gave the game piece a moment to take air through, smiled and began to whisper when the other did as well:
"As do the tables turn,
As do the mirrors crack,
As do the fires burn..
As do the lights lack.
Far is the nearest to be free,
Close is the furthest from these chains,
Oh what is truly reality..
When nothing of known,
..remains."
A flick of the wrist and once again, her sweet little morsel lay on her back. She remained above her, yet slowly lowered just enough to be a mere few inches left between them. The glow in her orbs intensified, as did the hero's. The cage stills, imprisoning there, in the black abyss, candles snuffed out, her game continues, as it shall. In the delicate of touches, she reaches out and strokes the side of the Kryptonian's face, scraping just a little when doing so.
"Survivor. Protective to the 'Rubes' you are. Fool. We shan't play in their time and space. Born within the stars. Kryscabtia Roselyne ta..'Irish Rose' from 'Contae' County of Aontroma. Da-neviers ta...O'hara. Yes. Indeed..you..will have..the taste. YOU..will keep..it's yearning. You. Are..Mine." She purred, sultry with her darkest of purposes. She needn't, though missed, her group she deemed, with tasks with 'familiun.' But this one..THIS one.. "Divine. Deistic. An..ambrosial essence. Mmmm.." With mouth ajar, craving sought, minut of whims and instead of her little meal she gave to her prey, a gift. A gift, to 'Shine' for. Lips to the softest of lips, she brushed them, breathed out and into her new that would remain protected by her but tasked with a certain steam, ahead of what settled now inside of a vessel she had chosen.
She descended until their bodies were flush, tilting her head and crashing away the featherlight kiss, to engulf and seize for just a quick taste of another kind. Now somewhat mobile, on a tug telepathically, she called for the embrace of lips returned. Just enough of a noise of enjoyment was heard and just as arms rose and hands reached, did she snap off the ties for those limbs to drop. Eyes closed, steady in breaths, calm but sore, is how she left the delicious ambrosia made. Another snap and her body returned to where it once laid, after a swirl brought debris levitating above her, while the scientific pearly garment was swept around to get it better acquainted to the conclusive means. She smirked, snatching up the ridiculous medical necessity, placing it over her face and adjusting the tank's valve, well aware of a glitch in her prize's mind reworking into the scene now played. She clicked her tongue to have wood, metal and glass particles around the quarters shower her directly in the face, leaving cuts, bruises and some gashes for good measure. The magician's hat dispersed, to slip on the white coat, for a slumber, until rescued. The debris dropped on top of her, providing the final piece. All the stage had been summoned, for the final act to play out. ..right..about…..
Ohhhhhhh her skull! POUNDING! What was worse was the stench of the chemical interactive fumes. Rao, she needed that cleansing. Badly. The unrelenting battering in her head had to be ignored for now. Her body felt sore, now realizing why she had been knocked out in the first place. Something had exploded, or an object used her as it's baseball and swung to strike it clear out of the ballpark, taking her consciousness with it when the impact happened. Regardless, she forced all the questions to the backburner and rose a bit wobbly, but shook that off as well. "Crap. Hang on. Hang on.." With caution and focus, she removed what had piled on the woman until nothing was left to obstruct her path to rescue. With a pulse steady, breathing calm and mildly for the most part steady, she found a decent enough strap and secured it around her waist. The tank was settled and indeed wouldn't budge, even when she lifted the unconscious woman up and cradled her to her body. "Let's..get you outta here. You're safe now. You're safe."
Carefully, with the utmost caution, did she take flight, a cape wrapped around her passenger and the mask secured a little tighter, to ensure the woman breathed nothing but that safe air. She had also put the strapped lab goggles on her, to protect her eyes too. Just in case this..beauty awoke, her sight was shielded in the best of ways. Beauty? "..beauty." She found herself whispering, to shift into hero mode when crashes, explosions and all the sounds that shook her hearing up rattled her already aching head. One shake and she immediately regretted that move, but remained on point, dodging anything firing their way. Mostly, it was vials, bottles, beakers, and various...cabinet doors. Some hinges, knobs, tools and machines were minor to the Kryptonian powerhouse. Now, when the chairs, mostly in pieces, tables..also in pieces, a whole cabinet or two, flung at them, she swerved in flight, making a joke about a bit of rocky turbulence. The humor was short lived, when she inhaled things making her far past the term of nauseous and some of the spattered minerals, materials, elements and others actually scratched her skin, drawing bits of blood with some of them. With a wince and a nagging dizziness, she heard SUPERGIRL being yelled, by more than one, and knew things were about to get past the point of the worst of no returns.
One hiss, one unexpected scream and EVERYTHING went...black.._
Scorching, smoke billowing in toxic arise, didn't help the panic settling in on everyone that had been forced back by the terrorizing sight. Every possible means to protect those around meant distance had to be met, to ensure the health, safety and most of all lives, but it didn't make it any easier when there was no chatter, no info...nothing.
"SUPERGIRL!" Mutual shouts were thrown ONE way, as the blast TORE through the remnants of the building, bringing forth the rest to come tumbling down.
"DREAMER!" Nia dove forward, expanding the shield to the very edge of her powers' capability, while the rest of their crew threw the discs, compliments of Lena's genius, out as far as they could, manifesting a boost to the Naltorian's gifts. Alex pressed on her belt buckle as a suit began to cover her body, over the one she already wore, but unable to get the scream out externally, whereas her heart wasn't so indestructible. The headgear, similar to the one made for their 'Hope' was already sealed shut, filtering fresh air, unable to use it to raise the tone, or in this case her voice, to call out for who everyone already was, but with nada for a response.
"GOT IT! WHERE IS SHE?! SUPERGIRL?! SUPERGIRL!" Dreamer gave it her all, once more not the only one.
"SUPERGIRL!" EVERYONE shouted as a single voice, gasping and screaming when several miniature explosions went off, having more disks tossed out, by none other than Kelly and Lena, caught off guard even more, when a shadow showed themselves to aid in the fight of a chemically blaze and smoke covered pile of what was left of the once stable halls, walls and levels.
"KELLY!" Two hollered, only for their newest member to race over as back up. In an instant, two more disks were dropped by the CEO, shrouding the spot where the Psychologist once was, in darkness. Another fell beside Alex's left foot and in one blink, her girlfriend and a once thought to be villain, had appeared at her side.
"Thank you." She wished that peace would last, noticing the shadow about to take off no doubt towards the rubble..however..
"SUPERGIRL!" Calls out, in relief, glee, shock and so many other mutual feelings, were bundled together, when the Symbol of Hope flew over with a passenger in her arms. No sooner had the unconscious woman been set on the stretcher to be tended to, did her own consciousness cease to exist. Before anyone could get to her in time, the shadow had stopped the collision course of her skull to a rather rough and shifted ground.
"Is she okay?"
"She's hurt!"
"Supergirl, stay with us!"
"We're HERE for you Supergirl!"
"She SAVED us!"
"SUPERGIRL! You SAVED us!"
Multiple voices continued, but quickly and with dire emergency, the hero was carted off and through a portalway, set up by Lena Luthor. Susan, Amelia, with now J'onn and M'gann, Kelly and who was called 'Acrata' taking over where they were needed most, Alex and Nia could help the 'gatekeeper' with whom they had to tend to first and foremost.
"Through here!" Lena yelled at them, thanking Hamilton for the quick to travel in a stormy light show stretcher. The minute they passed the threshold, a pair of those familiar blues stopped the three from a fear rattling the cages of their being. "Ka..ra?"
"Sis. THANK RAO!" Alex didn't even give either of the two a moment to act, making the first move and embracing the hell out of her sister. "Are you..okay?" She slowly leaned back, relinquishing such a fierce hold, gazing into the Kryptonian's eyes. "You okay?" Two scrapes, two released breaths and a pair of hands were on them both.
"Thir..sty." It sounded like gravel was stuck in her voice, getting another plan of action involved, which was the overhead light causing them to groan at it's brightness, to a shoved back head and indication to open and stick the tongue out. "No..th..ing..the...there Wai Aoe."
"Stop." Nia hadn't meant to shove, but it unbalanced Alex, causing Dreamer to swallow down the lump in her throat.
"Noooo. Thirsty." One arm out, blocking the path, as well as dividing the court, which the CEO called for a 'time out' for the match to end, before anyone was sent to another medical room. Lena instead helped raise up the back of the padded mat, indicating for one to grab spare chairs and the other to snatch up a few bottles of Gatorade, to quench the parched crew.
"Mango." Nia handed it over, taking the clear to the chilled day Cherry, leaving one 'business' ONE 'badass' to battle over who gets the better of the two flavors. Both knew which would be the prize, having Kara point to the water cups and snatching both bottles before either could challenge-strike the other, pouring half and half in each, handing them over. They looked at her funny, only to say to hell with it, tap their cups together and take a sip. "Well…?"
"DAMN that's good!" Alex and Lena mutually announced. Nia and Kara tapped bottles while the Kryptonian set the ones for the fighters down for them.
"I rest my case."
"Good call Kara. You okay though?" Her protege concerningly asked.
"Besides being thirsty? Hungry. A little worn out and..wait! The...the one I.." A gentle hand found its way to one of her shoulders.
"Amelia is checking her for injuries and Kels is engaging in a couple psychological Q & A's just in case. Oh...you are NEVER gonna guess who.."
"That's my doing Alex." Nal to Danvers, back to the good Luthor to a bewildered Supergirl, left three to one, who sighed and seated herself, preparing for a lecture. "Remember the 'Shadow' that literally moves in and out of them?"
"The one that was trapped by Rama Khan's staff, that J'onn got free and then she saved us? She also warned us at one point too." Cerulean locked directly into shivering emeralds. "Lena..what is it?"
"We gotta keep it clean and clear in order to prove no holds bar in trust Lena." Alex commented.
"When you were in Obsidian, trying to get everyone to end their simulations, she showed up." Strangely, comfortingly and ever more frightening, it was Alex 'dangerous' Danvers to take one of her hands and squeeze it in support. "She appeared, with a Kryptonite knife in hand." Eyes grew larger by the second, causing Lena's body to tremble, but she stayed calm and let it out. "I stopped her. I wouldn't let her get to you. I wouldn't let her HURT you. I got her to lower it, stop her from doing that. I..you jump.."
While the reference was explained, like clockwork the rest of the gang appeared but with an addition. The woman of shadows, walked slowly over, with hands behind her head and fingers locked. Kelly walked right on beside her, putting one hand out, to warrant a calm without further conflict, while the two Martians headed back out to return and continue aid, out where they were needed most. J'onn and M'gann had left, Kelly and the rest..with..
"..I jump." A voice, barely heard, but strongly so by one not so steady hero. With her head down, eyes of azure flicked into much softer blue hues. "Supergirl." Arms flung out, hands gripping to whatever was closest, even when it cringed by her 'Super' grip. Everyone noticed immediately, yet kept gazes on the blonde's face.
"Lower them. Slowly." Alex ordered, followed by zero objection. Her chestnuts slipped to her good side, which unfortunately wasn't doing so hot. "K..Supergirl?" Too late..
"Al..ex. S...s..st..stop..grip..grippin..your..s..side. It.." 'Hope' couldn't get the words to cooperate as knees buckled and if it wasn't for the one before her, she would have collapsed. Again. Caught but led back the little steps behind, had the Kryptonian nodding and surrendering to her weaknesses for the time being. "Le..xy..your side. Plea..ease..let us..help you."
"You jump. I jump." Their glances directed at the center of a void restriction, removal and reveal, leaving three gasping. The mask was lowered, where one of them already knew the case, before the jury. Awaited judgement, would be cast to the backburner. "What can I do."
"Not get on my bad side." Alex growled, shoving that away, gripping her side, throwing some profanity in the mix, to add some spice to the situation. She tried to smack the raven-haired genius away, but it didn't get her very far.
"Sit!" A sea of spheres all turned the tide where it would no doubt crash against the rocky shore of two stubborn women.
"Do I LOOK like a dog?"
"Pitbull. But no. Wolf." Another hit had a groan on the medical mattress, along with a little wave in the air.
"N...not..ca..nine. Lu..pine." Nia sighed, removed her own mask and held out a hand to her Boss, now just as shocked by the exposed truth. They shook, broke the grip away and instead contemplated where to focus their attention.
"FUCK! OhhhHHH SHIT! HEY?! DAMMIT! FUCK! FUCK! That..oh fu..GAH! OW! Ohhhh shit..SHIT! FUCK! THAT HURTS! FUCK!"
"She's not barking." Dreamer muttered, gulping at the look of death.
"No, she howls good enough though." Kelly felt herself treading water a little too far out to that vicious sea. 'Cuss O' Danvers' continued, with everyone's hearing victimized by the brutality.
"Man up! Woma..OW! Did you just..SERIOUSLY just BITE ME?!" Lena snarled, yelling some but shutting up at the look of pain on her best friend's face.
"Yes! You DIS...erved.." Alex toned it down. Again. She softly apologized, then returned to what had been pending still. "Kir Aoe Nahn Rrip.."
"Khap Wem.." Words were paused, which she contemplated if her sister was trying to find the right ones to use, especially when they started with 'I think' for an answer, after she had tried to ask 'if she' was hurt.
"Can you check?" They could beat the shit out of each other verbally or in the ring, later. Lena's nod confirmed the check up about to be administered. Right then and there, the conflict of layered interest would have to be removed from the equation, before any other steps could be taken.
"One issue there Alexandra." Lena needed her to know the complexity of the dilemma before resorting to any further measures. Sure enough, even returned with more flickers of upset, while growled back and in, then to retreat, cursed out and cursing the 'day is long' later, it would have to come to pass if they wanted to get ANYTHING else done, to help 'Hope' heal however she needed to.
"Drea.." A sigh, fling of the hand and nod, indicated..approval. Instead of staying on her ass, on the padded exam bed, a not so patient Danvers took to coming on over to be a thorn in Lena's. AGAIN. The steps were paused, directionally adjusted, combining her little tricks of the 'Hand of the Soldier' trade, TWO of her favorite babies appeared in a set of trigger-happy hands. "Don't go anywhere. Got it?" Now that masks were removed by two, it was time to let the maskless of them be brought to light too. Aims were up, steady as can be, with foundations un-leveled on the receiving end, should it come to that. Once was, once more, with hands the head and fingers laced. "Kir Aoe Rrip Vrog." She would go with what her sister chose.
"Zhi. Yes." Alex didn't move where her hues kept steady on, just like fingers on triggers, without any hint of trembles. The sounds didn't go unnoticed, like a couple little slips of bad worded tongue to tie up the bag of hesitations, while Nia helped the weakened blonde sit up.
"No. Nope. NOT gonna happ..en." She sighed, but gave Dreamer kudos for the attempt. Accent to accent, brought Lena back over. "Huff." The Naltorian grumbled, stepped back and went to park it between the two parties, just on the sidelines. The object was now in steadier hands, granting verbal complaints when Supergirl brought her feet to the floor and stood.
"Sure?" Alex double, triple and a half doz' and then some, calculated the risks in her head, but she wouldn't put her sister through keeping secrets, unless the danger was staring right at the hero. She was trusting Lena, on a whole OTHER level now.
"Zhi Wai Aoe." Her cerulean hues slid from the chestnuts of the 'deadly' Danvers, to azure orbs filled with confusion, a tinge of fear and a sense of entrapment. She put her at ease, without any hint of what was in her grasp. "You're safe. Not a prisoner. Okay?" Dressed in all black, identity on display, Andrea Rojas nodded. She straightened her back, her posture, showing her what the city and hell the whole world and beyond, knew her to look like, no matter how awful she actually felt. "I trust Lena. I'm trusting you. One chance. One." Acrata, Andrea's persona, nodded again. They were opened, unfolded, brought to her head and slowly slipped on. The moment the glasses were in place, the suit retracted and in its place, everyday out of business wear. But what really did it all justice, was the ponytail and that was the tipping scale. The minute the head came back up and turned, she met those darker blue eyes with her own, where they were before.
"K..Kara..?" A soft smile and bob of head confirmed it, but that was short lived, when the Kryptonian's body felt disheveled and legs grew weak, but was caught again, by Andrea. Carefully, she was set back on the bed. "There. Rest." Her boss gave the order, which she obliged easily, letting the eyelids slip over and blanket her vision.
"I know." Nia whispered, standing beside her, with Alex and Kelly behind and Lena on the other side of her.
"Brave. No secrets, will leave my lips nor my mind, if I have anything to say about it. I take it, they will be helping the wounded, more so, the rest of the night?"
"Probably longer, knowing J'onn. Although.." Alex snickered, stepping to Nia's right as Kelly went to Lena's left, "M'gann does get on him if he overdoes it."
"Finally. Someone to lock him down." Dreamer sighed dramatically. She saw Lena move closer to her best friend, her mentor, to take a hand gently. "Wanna set up a baby monitor?" Alex coughed on her own laughter, having to step away quickly so as not to wake the sleeping Supergirl up, who so desperately needed it.
"That was good." Lena chuckled, leaning down and placing a kiss on the blonde's forehead. "Rest darling." She then pointed to the small table which the former Director rolled over, placing a walkie-talkie now on and stationed accordingly, in the center of it. "Not too far please."
"Yes Chief." Kelly saluted, causing them to cover their mouths before the laughter could bellow out. Her girlfriend just rolled her eyes though, still smiling, taking a moment to bend down and kiss the side of her sister's head and whisper something comforting she used to tell Kara when they were kids, right after the two of them grew close. "Couldn't help it Lena." The CEO smiled, shook her head and tapped the Psychologist on the upper arm, with them both walking out of the room, followed by Nia and Alex. It gave 'Hope' time to rest, without any interruption.
"Grub. I'll order, then we'll talk." Lena suggested.
"You know our tastes, which I'm certain the same goes for hers too."
"I'll buy." Andrea offered, but her boarding school pal already had the order placed in five swipes. "Serious?"
"I've learned a long time ago Rojas, to run with that fair play, until you need to speed things up a bit." A scoff caught gazes, while they gathered around the table, now seated and contemplating.
"Yeah, until you got one faster than the fastest, which is faster than a speeding bullet." Nia beat her to the punch.
"Him? Not by much. She is waaaaay faster, stronger and then all that and half the solar system, compared to Spandex Boy. It was sooooooo nice watching her kick his ass though. I mean, he was under some hideous Kryptonite we had zero clue about, so he was at FULL force." Everyone attentively continued to listen, while Alex leaned back comfortably. "Her? No-P-e. She only flew at half. She didn't wanna hurt him, or..his feelings, but probably both. I mean, while the two were up at the top of the tower they had to solar charge the damn thing, so to speak, he couldn't hang on where she kept right on firing." It donned on her, they didn't know who or what she was talking about. "Alright. Small talk, then food and then we'll get on about the rest. Okay?"
"Deal." The rest of them answered in unison, surely on the same page, so it seemed. For now.._
"Ohhhh so glad, we got these hammocks hung." Directing the gang to the bunks, for shuteye between shifts, she dropped onto the rope braided net, pushing herself up the rest of the way with her feet flat and momentum 'skilling' her sunk in balance. Now captive to it, she put her head back on the pillow she'd added to the comfort zone. Still, her eyes wouldn't close, instead staring up at the stone like ceiling, she'd hung a few prisms and lanterns from. The chestnuts seemed to fill with relentless pondering, questioning, and second guessing. Alex knew with or without her go-ahead, her sister was gonna fly in to help out, in any way she could, regardless of the situation. But something seemed..off.
"Shouldn't you be resting Alex?" Lecture, heeeeere it comes. The volume was adjusted on her comm, after calling her 'Space Dad' when her brain just wouldn't shut up.
"Debatable. Hey, did you talk to the gal my daring, dimwitted, dodo of a sister flew out last with?" Silence. "J'onn?" Still no answer. Instead..
"Hi Alex. When we finished escorting everyone we needed to, to the other sites for medical necessity, or for Kelly if dire needs called for such, the lady was..gone. J'onn nor I even got a chance to speak with her. We intended to, first thing, but our attentions were, on those, we deemed first to respond to. Hold on. Dr. Hamilton? Do you have a minute?" With a slight momentum, she got the hammock swinging some again, awaiting the change of voices.
"DON'T you have anything better to do, then be a thorn in our side Danvers."
"Love returned, Amelia. Hey, you know the woman my sister came out with, the one that.."
"Oh, you mean the one that WASN'T at my station, when we got to the base of operations? The one NONE of us saw again?" THAT had her undiVIDED attention.
"Who was with her, when in.." Faint didn't even begin to describe how she suddenly felt, shutting her eyes, muttering something, but no clue as to what.
"You got it Danvers. Get some sleep Boss. You sound like crap." The call ended, but so had all connectivity, with the comm on the floor under the hammock no longer swinging. It wasn't the only object there, as the 'Hand of the Soldier' lay beside it. In the background, unbeknownst to the former Director, were two ladies talking, then some change of the guard to check on the blonde and take up a seat by the bed.
"Guess she's FINALLY getting some replenishment of the unconscious kind."
"Worse than you always are huh." chuckles were in the background.
"MUCH worse. Fatality when rendered, to put it lightly."
"So what you're telling me is..PROCEED with caution Lena?"
"She's…'trigger' happier than most Andrea."
"Leeeee.." A soft but still tired voice filled the air, whereas the one that was out cold? Silence. The body of the Director was present. As for the rest..?
"My dark abyss her mind contains,
Crimson flames, with it's own twisted clarity,
To call out, ohhh amusingly done in vain,
THUS comes the chimes,
..of my prey's..
..TEETERING sanity."
A whispered purr of the next words, brought a warmth brushing the evening's silent wind, blowing through just one space in particular. Where the delicious morsel lay, prone in transition, though reversed in direction, her head lingered over the helpless mortal femme. The sharpest of single-finger metal talons scraped from the collar bone, up the side of the little thing's neck, upward onto the face and still towards the temples on one side, pressing just enough for blood to be drawn, though that's it. "Mmmm, set forth we go, little rube. Set forth, only to fall." A hum brought upon her play's chorus again, setting the stage's own set for the next act to come.
She would delight in splitting the threads, strand after strand, until the rope kept to hold up this 'rube's strength frayed completely for her gambit's pleasantries. Shan't the game continue here. To the 'Clocktower'and the next set of riddles for this CAPTIVE little thing.._
